So I am continuing my domination of NLHM.

I have a VPIP of 40.6%, PFR of 34% and agg factor of 5.05.

Juice got me Phil Gordon's Little Gold Book of Poker. According to Phil, I am a bit too aggressive, though I am in a very low limit game. Having said that, my colleague who plays professionally said you get just as many stupid rich people as stupid poor people, so I do not know what to think about the game differences. I shall have to see when I get there.

Poker Edge now thinks I'm a Shark. It thought I was a maniac yesterday. However, it has also found a few thousand old hands on the account that I'm using, whereas I have only been utilising this style over the last week or two.

Today, I continued my loose-aggressive style. I tend to bow to pressure if the opponents exert it, but mostly they don't so I get to put in the pressure first.

I found that some players have noticed my frequent steal attempts, and also copy my UTG blind steal strategy. So when Magus raised 3BB preflop from UTG I sensed weakness and re-raised with my 89s. I hit a flush draw but had position. THe two clowns checked to me so I bet half the pot. THey called. I missed on the turn, and decided to check as my table image would not hold up to another steal attempt. I hit a flush on the river, and MAgus bet into me. I saw no other option but to force him all in.

It turned out that he had hit top pair on the flop with his AKs. My read was incorrect, as I thought he was stealing pre-flop with his weak UTG raise. However, the idiot had let me take the initiative and the poker gods rewarded the brave. So I took my $20 buy in to $100 in that session. Juice is very unimpressed as I do not have a solid strategy that a book would advise.

Following my win, I augmented my table image by congratulating my opponent on his strong play, laughing at him, and then calling him a fish. I have found that antagonising my opponents encourages them to come back at me more aggressively and helps me get paid off. It definitely worked this time as the same player went all in against me twice and lost both times.

I want one of these for Christmas, but don't have the correct lifestyle to care for one. Life is so sad.

Mortal Cumback

I am having a bit of a Poker comeback. My two flatmates are keen Poker players and have inspired me to try the game a bit more.

I have given up waiting for the good hands. Waiting for AA and then watching the opposition fold to my 3bb raise is frustrating. So instead I'm tossing a 3 sided dice in my head to decide whether or not to steal PF (assuming I'm FTA). If some clown re-raises me then I need to make a more astute decision, but that rarely happens. And on the flop I just randomly mix up continuation bets and stuff based on whether or not I think the other player will fold.

My sample size is only 459 hands so far, but I'm quite proud of my Aggression of 4.89, and Poker Edge can't decide whether I'm an Elephant or Maniac.

Does anyone else think Kindles are a bit crap?

So I received one as a generous xmax gift last year.

It is nice to play with intially, but:

- you can't borrow library books on it. So if you are a library going cheapskate, you have to pay to read stuff on it.
- it runs out of batteries at bad times.
- it can take ages to boot up from.
- mine froze for a few days, I posted a query to Amazon, who said I'd have to call them to get advice. But then it fixed itself. It has a 1 year warranty, and I've had it nearly a year, but based on the risk of it breaking, I'm not going to buy any books for it on the risk of it breaking again when out of warranty, and me subsequently being unable to read the book.
- it does not fit in my pocket.

So.... what is good about kindles? I did a search on the internet, and one guy said it would be great for students who have hundreds of books. But to be honest, they are shit for students as students need to be able to flick between pages very quickly, and that is not possible on kindle. YOu can't scrawl on it (I'm not wasting my time typing notes onto kindle pages), and paperclips can't be put between pages. You can't crease pages of interesting pages.

I was prescribed Diprobase. So I went and got it. I was prescribed two 50g tubes. That's £7 a tube as I'm a taxpayer.

Then my colleague tells me I should have bought it myself without prescription. Being a trusting cunt, and assuming that the doctor would have my interests at heart, I'd just bought the stuff off prescription. But on the interweb it just costs £2.79 for 50mg, or £10 for 500mg. What a fucking arse raping.

I had to go to a wedding on Friday.

I bought an extension ticket from Zone 4 out into the country.

Upon reaching the gates, I was told that my ticket was not valid on that route. What a fucking ball ache.

So I had to buy a new ticket. God bless the evil privatisations of the vile Tories, who have given us a complex train ticket system that no one understands.

So I went to the station and asked for a refund. The lady behind the desk gave me a distrusting look. Especially as I'd forgotten to take the replacement ticket with me (which as it happens, is also totally smudged as the ticket guard's machine broke when he issued it). She took my form and the ticket, said she'd show it to her manager, and said that I'd have to come back if I didn't recieve the money in 7 days.

The ticket was only £10. So not a big deal, but in the interests of consumer rights I'm interested in seeing if I can get the refund. If I don't get the money back, should I just do a chargeback on the credit card? It's a lot of effort to walk back to the station, when my bank could easily just get me the money back after a short email.

In followup to the Virgin Media fiasco, they said they could do nothing about the TV package, but gave me a month's subscription fee to compensate for the telephone mistake. That basically covers 50% of the extra cost that I'll have to pay over the next month due to having a tv package that I do not want. Is that a good enough outcome?

Sainsburys Shows Contempt For Savers

I just have an account mature at Sainsburys.

My money got put into a new "web saver" account, which receives 0.08% interest.

It's actually quite hard to find that page. As most interest rate pages show the "internet saver" rate instead, which is a fairly average 2.5%.

It's nice to know that my bank is trying to rip off savers with slow reactions by giving them derisory rates, and trick others by having accounts with similar names.

I admit my allegation might have been a slight exaggeration, so I asked it on Yahoo.

So, I at work. An ex-colleague asks me how I'm doing. Doesn't understand why I haven't got a decent job yet, tells me my credentials are excellent. BUt the thing is, recruiters ignore me, and I can't get any interviews with firms that I want to work for. There's no point going to work for a firm I don't want to work for. So I'm fucked, and need to study masters, even though most of the content in masters courses is useless.

I went to Tokyo Jos in Clapham Junction today. It was fucking awesome.

The salmon was nice and thickly cut. The tempura delightful.

However, Clapham Junction was less amazing. It was full of twats wearing skirts and the ground was covered in human vomit.

I was at a local game in a dingy Clapham Fetish Dungeon earlier this evening.

I tried mixing up the play early on, randomly raising and betting, using my tight image, and staring gormlessly around to table to intimidate.

These plays worked early on. Then after some successes I got loose and started to lose my lead.

Later on, I had 23o, and limped from the button. BB raised it to 3BB, two callers from UTG and MP, so I called and so did SB.

From gave me a straight with no flush draws. UTG checked, BB bet 2/3 the pot, MP called, so I slow called and looked meek, SB called.

Flop gave a possible flush draw. UTG chcked, BB bet, early went all in, I called, SB called. FUcking awesome.

Later on, I had TT from SB. It was limped to me. I understand that I am not a good player. The biggest stack was about 10x the pot. I knew if I called overcards would land and I'd be outplayed from the flop. There was no point raising and letting them draw. They were probably behind. So I just went all in. Someone called with A8s and paid me off.

Donkey web enterprises has been shut down again. So I am thinking of opening up a few clothing outlets.

Unfortunately, the (hidden) scale is a bit low. But I performed consistently in January. How many Poker players can boast such consistent profits?

The thing is, though, when comparing website earnings with speculative forms on investment, such as Poker or trading, there aren't really many negative periods. A basic website can cost under £100 a year to run. Trading professionally costs about £1k a month. So trading costs more and you can lose more. IN Poker, you get additional rake in the form of cheaters.

My 888 account is down to $4 from $80 at the beginning of the year. I feel a though I have been penetrated anally in a non consensual manner.

Why Is The Prisoner Vote A Big Deal?

I was watching the prisoner vote on Question Time the other day. It seemed to evoke many emotions. Supporters were sick that some people didn't support it. Non supporters were sick of the idea of it.

But why is it important? Most of the people I know seem to think one way or the other, but do not think it is a big deal at all.

I read an article about it on the Guardian. It was such a piece of shit. Not because of the views in it, but because it didn't actually say anything. It was of the same quality as the bullshit you get on article directories, which waffle on, but don't actually say anything.

Anyway, from the Guardian, after much waffling, it just about said that prisoners should get the vote because;

- it would help them to feel part of society, and therefore reduce their chances of reoffending.
- it is basic human right.
- the author has been working on the issue for a long time and feels proud to have worked for such an important cause.

From Question Time, other reasons are:

- Lots of people in prison have been locked away unjustly, and therefore shouldn't have their right to vote taken away.

Time to go eat now. After all the waffle above, I still don't see how it's a big deal. If I lost the right to vote I don't think I'd be that fussed, as votes from those with minority views don't count anyway.

I made an order from amazon US, I am in UK. paid mostly with a gift card I received years ago. And a tiny bit with my visa card.

It went missing.

THey issued a new order. Which was nice. But they made a full refund to my gift card and then charged my visa card the full fee in the process.

So basically, I've paid in full using my visa card, and not paid at all using my gift card. Being a UK resident, I make infrequent use of Amazon US, and therefore would prefer not to have a USD balance. BUt they will not relent for some reason. When I try to ask them for the charges to be corrected, they just confirm the amounts.

Anyway, I have asked my provider about reclaiming the excess charge on my credit card. Will it work?

My experimental website is starting to generate OK traffic again. 500 hits today.

At the moment I'm averaging just under £8 per thousand hits. My target is £10k daily. To get £8k per day I'd therefore need 8,000,000 hits a day. That is about 10 hits a second. What are the odds of that?

So here's my job hunting so far....

- Interview with firm in Zurich last Dec. It was for solo traders who need someone to automate their stuff. I don't want to work solo as I still have lots to learn from others.

- Interview with a big firm of manual traders. This may or may not be suitable. I'm not really that interested in manual trading, but if I can learn how to successfully trade manually, maybe I can start to make things systematic. However, I think I did not impressed when they called me last week and asked in detail about what I do. I was a bit cagey, and when I couldn't give an answer on how I'd made a shit load of cash buying stuff in a fallen market, I have a feeling the guy thought I was lying. Though I couldn't say where I'd made the cash as what I do is proprietary until they hire me.

- Interview with firm in America. This one sounds interesting. But they want Phd's who can do a few things that I can't. I only have a BSc from a half arsed university.

Fuck that.

- Update : in my junk mail was another response. A market making firm that rejected me before I began my trading career has asked me to have a chat with them on the phone. It's a quant trader position. They do not require fancy qualifications, but need experience which I have.
