When you opt to participate in a social network community, you can pick and choose those individuals whose likes and dislikes are similar to yours and build your network around those commonalities. For instance, if you are a chess aficionado or a book lover, you can find and interact with those who share your interest. Because you are connecting digitally instead of having to physically attend meetings, you have the luxury of joining many more groups and communities. You can meet with your friends anytime you have an Internet connection and whenever you find them online.

Students no longer need to take out six library books at a time. Much of what they need to know they can find online.

School is not the only setting where this type of real-time information sharing can be beneficial. Social networking can provide a tool for managers to utilize in team meetings, for conference organizers to use to update attendees and for business people to use as a means of interacting with clients or prospects.

Whether you are non-profit organization who needs to get the word out about your upcoming fundraiser or a business owner marketing a new product or service, there's no better way to get your message in front of millions of people 24/7. The best part is it that you can spread the word through social networking profiles for free. Alison.com

ALISON (Advance Learning Interactive Systems Online)

ALISON is a training website providing around 400 free, open courses, diplomas, and certificates in a wide variety of subjects to people all over the world (e.g. business, IT, etc).

You can enrol for free in a diploma or certificate course. When you finish your course, you become certified as having completed the course. You don't need a paper diploma or certificate to be recognized as certified, but you can order one if you'd like.

Depending on which course you choose, the material may be presented through slides, audio, video, animations, or a combination of these. Most courses involve a few multiple quizzes and a multiple choice final assessment. Both can be done as many times as necessary. To get your certificate or diploma, you must earn 80% or more overall in your course.

The estimated completion time for some of the certificate courses are short (0 - 1 hour) and others are longer (2 - 3 hours). The time it takes to complete the diploma courses can range from 6 - 16 hours.

UDACITY

Udacity provides free courses in mainly computer science and math topics.When you successfully complete a course, you receive a certificate of completion.

Coursera is a learning platform which is used by many colleges and universities to provide various courses free online to many students at a time. These classes are commonly called MOOCs. Some participating institutions include Duke University and Berklee College of Music.

Courses usually last for several weeks, and involve active involvement with the class, including coursework, quizzes, and sometimes forum discussions. Upon completion, some courses provide a Statement of Accomplishment or a Verified Certificate for students who pass the course.

edX

EDX

EdX is similar to Coursera in that it partners with universities, and offers MOOCs which last for several weeks. When you enrol in a course, you can choose to pursue a certificate of mastery for most courses. After you pass all asignments and tests, you receive the certificate.

Some reputable universities using this platform include Harvard University and MIT.

Education is a critical way to help prevent violent conflict from becoming deadly. Through the Global Peace building Center (GPC), the Academy for International Conflict Management and Peace-building and other venues, USIP provides a variety of educational resources to people around the world.

The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) has a distance learning program called Education and Training Online, which provides courses in peace and conflict resolution. Many of these courses are free and they can be easily accessed online. Besides, USIP offers certificates for certain courses to trainees who successfully pass course exams online. Some of these courses are also available in Arabic, Farsi and Spanish.

While these courses can be relevant to students studying peace and conflict studies, they can be extremely useful for NGOs and other agencies in developing countries to understand conflict management and learn lessons from around the world and contribute their own experiences. As these courses have been developed in an interactive manner, trainees will get several opportunities to share their ideas. For those who cannot access internet continuously, the courses also provide pdf versions of the curriculum which can be downloaded and viewed offline. There are also Question & Answer sessions in the course which will help trainees to check their own progress of learning.

If you want to know the statements of faith that a person needs to understand in order to grow more spiritually in faith with God, then here are few of them. Remember, if you want to be close to God there are statement that you need to believe in before you can do anything else. Here they are as follows:

I believe in One God who created the universe and everything in it.

I believe that God became flesh, in Jesus Christ. So He is One with God.

I believe Jesus Christ was born of a virgin. In saying this, I believe Mary was a virgin when she 'gave birth'.

5 1-2 When Jesus saw his ministry drawing huge crowds, he climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to him, the committed, climbed with him. Arriving at a quiet place, he sat down and taught his climbing companions. This is what he said:

3 “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.

4 “You’re blessed when you feel you've lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.

A morning prayer before I left the house saved me from a con man

On the 4^th of September 2013, which I mean yesterday,( I am actually writing the date in case anyone reads later than this) I was on my way to check on a client who had called and asked if I could design his blog. So I left in the morning but first I had to go to the bank to collect some money for my sister because we were supposed to meet up. I went to the bank and got the money, and then I catch up a bus to a local internet cafe where I usually meet up with couple of my friends. When the Bus stopped at the bus stop I met this guy who was asking me for directions, he told me that he had got into an accident and he wanted to go to Mikocheni to meet up some people who could help. He started showing me this envelope which had a certain kind of looking gold saying that he was suppose to take them to Mikocheni. But suddenly another person came up as well started reading the envelope, it seemed like this two people knew each other. In my head I started wondering why this guy wasn't telling him the direction to Mikocheni. I heard a voice in my head telling me to cross the road and leave the place. Without hesitation I did. I felt my heart telling me that this might be a con man so I had to live the place. When the two of them where talking I felt weird in my head like I wasn't understanding what they were saying. The funny thing is that even though I was the first one to cross the road, I found the man across the road already and this time he was trying to get a woman. All this made me to be alerted that this was official a con man and he was here to con people. What people like this usually do is that, they kind like us black magic power to get you interested and you start talking to them. Once you have told them the direction or the bus to take, they tell you that they don’t know the place, so they will then ask you to take them there. Once you have taken them, they will take you somewhere as and they will rob you.

The moment I notice that he was a con man, I said this simple words “thank you Jesus’’. Before I had left the house in the morning I had prayed and asked Jesus to guide me throughout my day and everything I did. And the first thing I noticed in this incident is that Jesus had kept his promise by being there for me. Imagine if I had not asked him to guide me and protect me, what would have happened to me? I would probably had fallen for the lies of the devil which where interfering with my day. I would probably have fallen for the conman’s lies saying that he didn't know where Mikocheni is. It’s clearly that the devil is a conman, and there will be people who use the same method as he does.

This is a true testimony and I am forever grateful for allowing Jesus to be in control of everything I do. The same way I want you to start trusting in Him and letting him be in control of all your days and everything you do. Some of us get lost in life and lose everything because we don’t know who to trust. We need to learn how to trust the might God. I have never regretted trusting him. Whether I am passing through good and bad times, I just know that he is there with me and he is the one who is bearing the worse than I am. And the more he does all this things the more my faith grows in Him. Sometimes in life we miss out the miracles and good things because we are taking the wrong directions and being misguided. We must learn how to trust him every day.

We shouldn't lose our trust on Him just because He doesn't seem to be there. In this world there isn't a better life like that one of being comfortable and happy. He will fill up your heart with joy and happiness. Even if you are a millionaire and have every need satisfied, trust me there isn't a better life than that of trusting God with your life. I don’t own my life, he owns it, so I have decided to put my entire life in his hands because I know that I have nothing to lose.

I am kindly asking you to start trusting the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and you will the great life you will live. He will guide you in making the right decisions and living a better life. The joy that my heart seek for is that of knowing that He is always there in times of pleasure and need. He is my refugee camp and He is the living God that I trust my life with. Start trusting in Jesus more that you do and you will find your life happier than ever. Just dare to trust and believe and you will see the wonderful things he can do. Don’t let God drift out of your life. In bad or good times God is always there for you.

Encouraging your child to overcome anger

This was an article that I read on a magazine last year and I thought that it was cool sharing it with you especially if you are involved with kids. You might be a teacher, father or mother; this article might be of help.

Why is this issue worth talking about? Because according to James P Steyer, founder of Common Sense Media, our children today are “A generation that has been repeatedly exposed to intense, realistic violence and grows up with more acceptance of aggression, less resistance to brutality, and less compassion. “ In Layma’s terms, that means the more violence kids are exposed to in the media and video games, the more used to violence they become. They become numb to seeing violence. This is just one of the reasons why kids may develop violent tendencies. As parents, how can we combat these tendencies toward aggression in our children? It is not an easy battle, especially when we sometimes do not understand why our kids are angry. Just remember that anger is a part of our emotional make up. It can be a good thing that may boost our efforts to overcome obstacles or challenges. The best thing we can do for our children if they have issue with anger is to help them learn how to tame and manage it.

Every child is different, but there are some tips that may help with yours:

Get them to breathe deeply through their nose 10 times; this is the fastest way to reduce the intensity of anger. Help them to say a calming phrase, such as ‘’relax’’ over and over until the anger has subsided. Lead them to a new activity, something that makes them happy, like teaching them the need to change their environment, or leave the situation that is triggering their anger. Remind them that anger is normal and needs to be channeled in a positive way.

On my point of view, I would suggest you taking some time to talk and pray with your child. Tell them what God wants best of them when it comes to the matter of anger. And remember that spanking can be helpful but also is a major lead in the destruction of a child’s behavior.
