Prim Perfect Magazine and Orange Island have announced an exciting and innovative photo competition, for teams of photographers, clothing designers, and models throughout the week of August 25, 2008, to August 31, 2008. Participants will have the chance to stretch their creative genius and demonstrate their originality and innovation as a new theme and environment will provide the focus for each day’s shooting. An impartial panel of judges will determine the winners – and the panel includes our own M0lly Dench.

There will be five separate daily competitions during the week, each with a different theme and taking place on a specific sim that will be announced the day of the shooting. Though the themes will be announced ahead of time, the location of the sim (together with landmark) will only be revealed at 12:00 noon SLT each day, on Orange Island. The location will also be announced on the Orange Island blog and the Prim Perfect blog as well.

As well as the winners of each daily competition, an overall Grand Prix will be awarded as well as a “Most Consistent” award given to a team that has entered every day of the competition and has displayed consistent excellence.

HAIR FAIR ‘08
Dates: August 22 – September 7, 2008

The third annual Hair Fair will open the doors for residents to enjoy the 90 participants this year, sponsored by Rezzable and spanning across four sims.

Proceeds from this year’s Hair Fair will benefit Locks of Love, an organization that donates wigs to children who suffer hair loss due to cancer, burns, and other conditions. This year, all designers at the fair will donate 50% of one style to the charity and donation kiosks will be placed throughout the sims where residents can donate directly to this magnificent charity. So there I was, going about a pleasant afternoon, when suddenly it was brought to my attention that a new type of content theft has reared its ugly head in our virtual world. This time the mark is unsuspecting modeling students.

Apparently, a delightful individual (insert a sigh and a cough here), by the name of vanessa Knoller has take it upon herself to steal AVENUE Models training information and their new student inquiry form, distribute it through a group she founded by the name of SL Models Academy, and is rooking the prospective students out of their Lindens – well sort of. It seems that our dear Ms. Knoller was devious enough to concoct the scam, but is a crappy proofreader and left Rusch Raymaker’s name in the notecard with instructions to deliver payment to Rusch (insert rolling eyes and giggling here).

The only thing worse than a thief, is a stupid one.

Apparently, the gem that Ms. Knoller is, has also touted that her ‘academy’ offers instruction from the models associated with RUNWAY Magazine. I will state clearly that RUNWAY Magazine, and the models associated with RUNWAY Magazine, does not now or ever will have any association with this ‘academy’ or Ms. Knoller, and any reference to the same is inappropriate, incorrect and fraudulent.

All potential modeling students should contact only reputable, established modeling academies.

Apparently Ms Knoller took issue with our post and has claimed that RUNWAY Magazine has slandered her fine modeling institution by posting the above.

In a commented response on her agency’s blog, I offered the following, a comment which I doubt will be authorized for post.

Ms Knoller,

RUNWAY Magazine, prior to being notified of the fraudulent claims that we were providing instructors from our model roll to your agency and academy, had never heard of you, your agency, or your school, and we were quite shocked when we learned that you were using our name to promote your fraudulent activities.

RUNWAY Magazine has never authorized you to use our name for any promotional material for your agency or your academy.

An in-world message was sent to you requesting that all information regarding RUNWAY Magazine be removed from your materials as this was not authorized.

Your allegations that we have unfairly slandered you and your agency/academy, are unfounded. How would you explain the statement in your student information card,

“At SL Models Academy, you will learn the modelling techniques used by today’s models. You will be prepared for anything from an audition to a runway fashion show. With our training and instruction by experienced fashion industry experts and top models from Runway Magazine, Runway Kidz, and SL Models, you’ll learn to be the best model you can be.”

You clearly state in your notecard that training for your academy is provided by top models from RUNWAY Magazine, which is false information.

We have made our position quite clear on this matter and no longer wish to continue with the charade of posts.  We stand by our statement that Ms Knoller, her agency and her academy, are in no way authorized, represented, or endorsed by RUNWAY Magazine, and that all potential modeling students should use diligent research to seek out reputable firms to do business with.
