~Fresh Coat~ Cover Girl Outlast Nail Polish in Peaches & Cream...

Hey Everyone!!

I never do "before & after" after photos with polish but when I use a polish that claims, "no chipping" or "long lasting results" or "color stay" or "outlast", B&As are inappropriate for the post.

Its taken me a minute to pick up one of these CoverGirl Outlast Nail Gloss polishes. They are really small and run $5-$6. Not a deal for me. However, blogger MissJia instagrammed her nail in Peaches & Cream and I was smitten. I went to the cheapest place I know for CoverGirl, Walmart, and picked it up.

This is two coats with a top coat and on the ring finger, Spoiled by Wet N' Wild in Jewelry Heist.

If you look closely to the ring finger, I have chip, that showed up about an hour after the manicure.

I knew this was not going to be good. LOL!

Three days later....my nails are looking dusty and rusty. I've used another drugstore brand "long lasting" polish and didn't have these chipping problems. I even double checked myself, "Were my coats thin or too thick?" "What base coat did I use?" But the reality is, the polish doesn't Outlast nothing. At least on MY NAILS.

I'm glad I only bought one Cover Girl Outlast Nail Gloss...and this will be my only one.

Hey Everyone!!

I received a wonderful request to do a popular Pinterest DIY pin,

If you are a Pinterest junkie or at least browse Pinterest...daily, you may have seen the DIY Nail Polish pin (above).

So....Here we go!!

Step 1

I gathered paper towel ( to protect the counter), a spoon, a eye shadow, clear nail polish, and a Styrofoam plate( for a make shift funnel)

Step 2

I scraped and crushed the eye shadow in to the plate. I tried to get the shadow is fine as possible, so it will dissolve in the polish effectively.

Step 3

I took the top off the polish, folded the plate carefully with the shadow in it and SLOWLY poured the shadow in. Because the polish is of a thick texture it will only go in so far. I used the polish brush to push the shadow down and add more. I would also suggest a toothpick or Q-tip to push the polish down.

Step 4

When I had put as much shadow in as a wanted, I then put the top back on and shook the bottle to mix the color around.

Well!! Will you look at this beauty???? I own nothing like this shade.

I applied my base coat, then three coats of the DIY polish and top it all off with a top coat.

TIPS FOR A EFFECTIVE DIY POLISH!!

-The less shadow you add, the more the polish will be sheer. The more shadow you add, the most opaque the polish will be. I added as much as I could for maximum opaque-ness.

-Let the polish set for a couple of hours to a whole day after shaking it to mix it so that the bubbles in the polish will settle. Otherwise, your polish will have bubbles on top of your nails.

-If you are making this polish for a special occasion, do it at least 24 hours in advance.

Overall...

I had soooo much fun creating this color!! Its a great project if you are in a pinch for a color of polish that you a) can not find or b) can't afford. This also a great project for a girls' night in or a slumber party.

Hey Everyone!!

Thanks to Crystalis007 on You Tube, I got hipped to Maybelline Dream Sun Bronzing Face Illuminator. She compared it her favorite NARS liquid highlighter, so you know I was VERY interested. I love a good, inexpensive alternative or the favorite beauty word of the day..."dupe".:)

I found Dream Sun on a display at a Rite Aid. I believe that it is a limited edition product. The display only had two of these product.

The product is more of a gel than a lotion. So when it goes on the skin, you have some time to adjust and blend, then its set in the skin. Dream Sun, on my skin, is a warm, champagne gold.

I applied Dream Sun with a mini stippling brush I ordered from Crown Brush a while back. I don't have much upper cheek bone space, so this brush is great for applying Dream Sun.

Overall....

Dream Sun is a AWESOME product. Its really easy to look over, because its Maybelline and drugstore and it's a liquid highlighter. Most oily skin girls steer away from the liquid highlighters! lol! However, this product is more of a gel, it stays put on the skin and its goes perfectly more blushes, other bronzers and contour powders. If I find another display of these, I'm grabbing a back up!!!

~Swatches + Review~ Lorac GloGetter Palette.....

Hey Everyone!!

The Lorac GloGetter Palette ( exclusively at Ulta) was the first piece of Lorac I've ever owned. I have heard great things about the brand and this palette was so affordable at $20, it was hard to pass up!! I heard on the blogsphere how it was sold out in some Ultas but my Ulta had at least, 8 of these babies. *shrugs*

The palette is all eye shadows with some neutrals and brights in the mix. The shadows are all shimmers as well...

Here are the swatches....

Here is a look a did with the first three shades. I'm drawn towards neutrals, of course.

The consistency is sheer with a tad bit of build-ability, depending on your brush skills.

Overall....

The Lorac GloGetter palette just didn't do it for me. Its beautiful in the palette but I was struggling with the color payoff. Are all Lorac palettes like this?

I did like the the blues and the purple in the palette but the color payoff on these shades were sheer as well. I don't see a use for the palette in my collection, so its going back.

~Swatches and First Impressions~ Kleancolor Femme Lipstick....Part 2....

Hey Everyone!!

I spotted these Kleancolor Femme Lipsticks at my beauty supply store and I was really surprised to see them there. Neither one of my BSS' update the Kleancolor makeup. lol! I had previously swatched and reviewed two sets of Kleancolor Femme Lipsticks. There were the bright primary/Secret Kisses/ Ka' Oir-ish colors. Here is the LINK to check those out!!

There were six colors available. I got six colors then went back and got more colors for friends as gifts. :)

The Names: #1 Tea Rose, #2 Pink, #3 Georgia, #4 Radiant Red, #5 Garnet and #6 Fiesta.....

The swatches start in order from the bottom....#1 Tea Rose is first and go up.......

First( or Second, since it's the 2nd set of lipsticks) Impressions:

-The smell is still fruity and INSANELY STRONG. OMG. Seriously, you know a lipstick scent is strong when you can smell it in your mouth and down your throat. smh

-The formula is the same as the first Femme lipsticks I reviewed. The color is builable, very greasy like a balm but not a balm.

-These were a $1 at my BSS, so know crazy loss here. I'm going to try and wear these because I love the colors.

Don't act like you haven't wore a trifling makeup product because you refuse to give up on it!!

~Swatches and First Impressions~ Wet N' Wild Megalast Lipstick in 24 Carrot Gold....

Hey Everyone!

I saw on the beauty blogsphere that Wet N Wild had a new Megalast Lip Stick out called 24 Carrot Gold. I located the one I picked up at a Rite Aid, which in my area has the best selection in Wet N' Wild displays.

24 CARROT Gold. LOL

Here's a swatch on the back of my hand. Its a really intense orange coral. You will get more orange than pink coral with this color. Perfect for the spring and summer time.

Since the Megalast lip sticks are heavily pigmented, I lightly applied 24 Carrot Gold and blended out the edges for a more wearable look on me.

These pictures were taken in natural light with no flash, so it shows more the orange-y side of 24 Carrot Gold. I love this color!!! Wet N' Wild definitely did this shade! Wonder if its a dupe of a high end? LOL!

Hey Everyone!!

Since I missed out on the great Groupon deal that was on the JulieG Gumdrop Collection, I had to resort to hunting them down. I spotted them in Rite-Aid which is the only place they are sold. The swatches I saw of these were gorgeous!! I picked up Blueberry Fizz, Rock Candy, and Crushed Candy.

Overall....

I LOVE this polish!! The brilliant texture, the opacity, and the colors are awesome. I wanted to use a top coat, but from the reviews I read, it would take up to four or five coats of top coat to get a glossy finish, so skipped that idea. These JulieG polishes are smaller than her core line but the same price at $3.99. I found another Rite-Aid that had these polishes so I plan on getting the other shades as well.

Have you tried any of the Gumdrop Collection or any other "sugar" coated polishes? Let me know your favorites in the comments!!

~MAC Riri Woo~ Swatches and Dupes under $6!!......

Hey Everyone!!

The inna'nets have no chill....MAC RiriWoo release has shaken up the beauty blogsphere/vlogsphere and emotions are high.

Don't I sound like the intro to an Oprah special? haha....

But seriously, the beauty girls are just all over the place with Ms. RiriWoo. Most are not pleased for whatever reason or another. The main reason is that RiriWoo is so close to MAC Ruby Woo in color that folks are feeling they got duped. Perhaps. *shrugs*

I don't own Ruby Woo for one reason. The drugstore dupes of that lipstick are endless. I rather spend $6 over $15. And I can mattify any red lipstick with a little translucent powder. So, your favorite cousin is going to serve you under $6 options to Riri Woo....Get into it....

Now, from my personal collection, I pulled Rimmel #111 Kiss of Life and E.L.F. Rich Red for comparison against Riri Woo.....

Riri Woo is #1, Rimmel #111 Kiss of Life is #2 and E.L.F. Rich Red is #3 in the photo above.

The closest in the color to Riri Woo is Rich Red and #111 Kiss of Life is closer in texture and slightly darker. Either way....both are under $6 where ever E.L.F and Rimmel are sold in your part of the woods.

And you won't have to wait for hours for your order to go through.:)

Then I thought about the some the reds in Nicka K lipstick collection. I buy my Nicka K lipstick at my local beauty supply for $1.

Ironically, the Nicka K shade is called Ruby Red.

Riri Woo is #1 and Ruby Red is #2 in the above photo. Ruby Red is the same shade but glossy.

Sooooo....what are your thoughts on Riri Woo and the controversy behind the shade? I'm personally happy I have it. I love red lipstick and now I have a true matte in my collection. Its all good over here!! However there some very good, inexpensive options of this lipstick right around the corner from you or over these here internets. Enjoy!

~MAC Lavender Whip~ Swatches and $1 Dupe?.......

Hey Everyone!!

After four lonnngggg years, I finally have my hands on MAC Lavender Whip.

I missed out Lavender Whip when it came out in 2009 and since then, I have scoured my CCO hoping it would show up there, coveted dupes, searching for this color!!

I know that it isn't the original Lavender Whip( the shade and texture is slightly different from the original) , but this one will do.:)

I've worn her...a couple of times since I got her. LOL!

Here is a swatch....

I wore it with out any gloss on top or liners. Its the perfect lavender shade.:)

Now, I did compare Lavender Whip to two other shades in my stash, Nicki K Lavender Tint and Revlon Lip Butter in Gumdrop.

Nicka K Lavender Tint is #1, MAC Lavender Whip is #2 and Revlon Gumdrop is #3.

Lavender Tint is a bit darker but is in the same lavender family and has the same texture as Lavender Whip. Gumdrop is lighter than both colors. So in my OPINION, Nicka K Lavender Tint is a close dupe of MAC Lavender Whip and its was only $1 at my local BSS. You can purchase Nicka K HERE for $1.49.

Hey everyone!!!

My Walmart finally updated their black radiance section and the new lipsticks finally landed in my area. Ive been looking for these colors for so long that I put the new color names in my phone so I can check the display for them!!

Check out Plum Orchid. It's a beautiful dark purple. I compared it to some the dark vampy purples I own and I have nothing like it. I always love when I get a color I don't own.

Hey Everyone!!

What you seeing is correct. The beloved, chased after, hauled 2013 Maybelline MBFW Vivids lipsticks were found by moi at a Rite-Aid for discounted 50% off. This a very VERY recent collection, no more than two months old, sitting in a clearance bin. Tons of other stuff was in those bins too:new Essie polish strips, new N.Y.C. Spring collection polish.....

That was one of the craziest discounted makeup situations I've ever witnessed.

I picked up Pop of Cherry and Infra-Red. I didn't even think twice about buying these when they were full price because I have a zillion red lipsticks and $7 for a drugstore lipstick is STEEP.

I KNOW. They look exactly alike! LOL! I tried my best to capture the differences in the two but my camera wouldn't capture it correctly. ( Pop of Cherry, top, Infra-Red , bottom)

You can sort of see that Pop of Cherry(left) is slightly lighter than Infra-Red( right). I will say, that both shades are bright and glossy!!!

Hey Everyone!!

First, I will say the search for these particular Wet N' Wild ColorIcon 8 pans was the worst of all the 8 pans they have EVER offered.

1) No one knew what stores they were going to show up in until they started to SHOW up. Turns out, they only available at CVS, when WnW has been historically sending their limited edition stuff to Walgreens.

2)I searched for two Saturdays and one Friday( because I have a LIFE) for these palettes. If it wasn't for Nouveau Cheap blog's Interactive Map, I would have never found this one. Please get into the map. It will save you gas, time and sanity.

3) I get to the store where someone has noted they spotted them, and the display is GONE. I go to the regular display and there I see, behind the permanent 8 pans..... one Going In The Wild palette.

4) At the time, I only wanted the other LE Spring palette, Nude Awakening. But, I would have been a FOOL to leave Going In The Wild there, so I bought it.:/

This is one of the looks I played around with. I used this palette three days straight, playing with combinations and shades.....

To be honest, I don't like Going In The Wild....

1) The shadows are powdery and a fall out mess.

2) I can't believe I'm saying this but the shades are too light for my skin. For the exception of the dark crease shades: the browns, golds, even the lavender color are not wearable at all on my skin color. They just lay on my skin. The green is only vibrant because I used MAC Fix + to make it a low lid liner for this look. I knew from the jump that this wasn't palette I wanted out of this Spring Awakening collection but I just could not leave it there. I'm such a makeup addict!!! SMH!

Hey Everyone!!

So many people are ready for summer because this "Spring" we got going on, ain't hittin' on NOTHING!! LOL! Its cold one day and hot the next. At least with Summer, its a hot three months, some times four months.

Laura Mercier is definitely ready for summer with a new collection coming soon called Folklore. Check out what she lists as her inspirations for the collection:

I received two Lip Crayons in Folklore and Burnt Clay and a Gel Liner in Canard......

Lip Crayons in Burnt Clay and Folklore....

Swatched on my hand, Folklore at the top and Burnt Clay at the bottom....

Burnt Clay is a dark tan brown colored lip color. This Lip Crayon went on buttery and very smooth, just like a lipstick. Its also pigmented like one of the LM lipsticks so I would not compare Burnt Clay to one of the popular "Lip Balm Stains" that are out. This is the 2nd makeup company I have seen do a dark tan brown in a Summer or Spring collection. mark. Cosmetics also has one in their Marrakesh collection. Check out my post HERE!

However, Folklore's texture was different. It applied more balm-ish than Burnt Clay. It was also more sheer than Burnt Clay. Folklore is a bright pink with a purplish tint to it.

Gel Liner in Canard...

This is my first LM Gel Liner. It applies very creamy, almost mousse like. It's glossy going on but dries matte. I found it to move a lot and it smudged all day, I was cleaning around my eye every time I looked in the mirror. I tell you, tarte Gel Liners have me spoiled!!! I wasn't expecting so much maintenance with this liner. However, the color is gorgeous!!! Canard is a dark teal blue with no shimmer. and I can't think of anything drugstore like it. Maybe high end but nothing on shelves that compare to this color.

Overall....

Beautiful collection to fit this summer's hobo and tribal chic trends.

~Fresh Coat~ Hard Candy Jubilee, Hard Candy Party Central and Hard Candy Crush on Amethyst.....

Hey Everyone!!

Finally, I done wearing all of my Hard Candy hauled polish. Why do I sound relived? Because glitter polish fun to wear but hell to keep up and take off. lol! This is why I LOVE polish only bloggers, those girls have a passion to surpasses 5 min soaks of cotton, foil and cold acetone polish remover. Bravo divas!!!

First up....Hard Candy Jubilee....

Jubilee is a crazy mix of silver black hexagon glitter large and mini, orange long glitter suspended in a green creme jelly.

I check some other swatches from other bloggers and found that base color was needed. I used Kleancolor Grass Green( the dark green) and Spoiled by Wet N' Wild I Only Eat Salads.

I Only Eat Salads is the best pick of the two to showcase Jubilee, however I Only Eat Salads stained my nails yellow( I've also had it over a year).

Next, I combined two Hard Candy polishes for one look: Crush On Amethyst and Party Central....

Crush on Amethyst is a beautiful chrome dark lavender and Party Central is a glitter packed polish with pink, blue, black, even white glitter in a clear base.

I LOVE Crush On Amethyst. One coat is opaque. The longevity was not good though, it was next day chipping.Party Central can do two coats opaque as a glitter but it will peel with the first sight of water.

Overall, these Hard Candy polishes are innovative, fun, cheap, ready available at a Walmart near you. The wear ability is not good on them though...not at all. Every manicure with these polishes, chipped the next day even with a base coat and two coats of quick dry top coat. Even with thin coats to build up the intensity, there was chipping the next day. I guess that's what $4 will get you. But I know cheap polish that lasts ( post maybe?)!! That's where I'm frustrated!! LOL!!

Hey Everyone!!

I'm so excited to share with you some of the products from Aqualillies for tarte Summer 2013 Collection. When I first saw the photos for the collection, I gasped!! The colors are cool, summer shades... glamorous pool side like the famous Aqualillies synchronized swimmers.

I received Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner in Splash and Glamazon Pure Performance 12- hour Lipstick in Timeless....

The packaging for this whole collection is GORGEOUS....a collector's dream!!!

Glamazon Lipstick in Timeless...

Timeless is a bright coral pink. Its definitely leans more pink than orange.

Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner in Splash....

Splash is a shimmery blue green.

I did a bright liner, bold lip look with both products. I used Splash liner on my upper and lower eyelids as a liner and black liner in the waterline to tie in the look. Timeless lipstick was used on my lips with no liner or gloss on top.

Both products are made in tarte's high quality. The lipstick is creamy and doesn't stain. The liner is smooth and didn't move all day, even when my allergies showed up and showed out! However, the color pigmentation of the liner is on the medium side, its not as bright on the lids as it is in the jar. I might try it over a black liner to see if I can get the color to pop more.

Hey Everyone!!

I think I've gone a little BB Cream MAD! I have about four BB Creams and I go between different ones on different days. Lately, I'm seeing more BB Creams with a dark shades and catering to women of color. I was too excited to hear that Iman Cosmetics was doing one. I think every brown girl blogger, beauty addict, product junkie I know was looking for her BB Cream!

I got the chance to try Iman BB Creme in Clay Medium.

I chose Clay Medium based on the chart on the Iman Cosmetics website. Go to the site and check out how to select your correct shade. I have gotten very good at eyeballing my shade and picking it off the shelf or a website without any physical swatches. If that is a talent, I have it!!

But when Clay Medium arrived, I wasn't very sure if this "talent" of eyeballing my shade worked any more.:/

Impressions and Thoughts:

-The color Clay Medium was very forgiving. The texture is very moisturizer/lotion like so the BB Creme just soaks into the skin very much like a tinted moisturizer.

-Iman BB Cream is 1.0 fl oz and retails around $19.00-$20.00. I think that is steep to be shelved at Walmart.

-The coverage is light and I didn't find it to be buildable. I tried applying it with a brush and sponge but it was still very sheer for my taste.

-If you have oily skin, you will need to either apply a primer before or set with a powder after. Or you can be a oily oil slick! lol! Most BB Creams are not catered to oily skin, hence CREAM( CREME). But if you set after or primer before you will only be a bit glowy in a couple of hours.

Final Thoughts:

I wouldn't buy this again. I like the idea of different shades catered to women of color and not one "dark" shade that looks no one you know. Bravo to Iman on that idea!! However, I fought with the coverage the most with this BB Cream. I'm a full coverage gal, even though I like products like tinted moisturizers and BB Creams. They are great for the summer when I do bring down the coverage. I would love to see how this does in the heat, so I'm going to tuck it away and bring it back out when the Carolina summer arrives. I also thought that $20 for a 1oz product in a Mass Market setting is steep. I would buy this, at the most, $12 or $13.

I finally found some of the new black radiance lipsticks which I wasn't that impressed by.:/

I did pick up Hibiscus and it's a beautiful bright pink. I think I'm good on the bright pinks for now. Lol! Goodness I have so many!

I purchased Milani violet volt on a whim Tuesday at Walmart and just wore it today. This color is everything!!! These pictures do it no justice!!! I don't own nothing like it. Go pick up violet volt if you are into purples for the lips!

~Fresh Coat~ Hard Candy Fireworks...

Hey Everyone!

I'm currently working through all of my new Hard Candy polish that I purchased( I only got six) before I purchase anymore. Last week I put on Fireworks, which is a hot pink, red, blue, purple glitter suspended in a fuchsia gloss. I used Milani LE polish in Sweetheart as a base.

Fireworks has these small confetti string like glitters that do not lay flat after two coats. They make for the texture, even after a top coat, very bumpy.

Here's a close up, if you can see, the bumpy finish. Fireworks is FIRE, absolutely gorgeous. However, I'm learning with these Hard Candy glitters is that they are not two or more coat glitters. You can get them opaque but the lasting time will be no less than a day and it will start to peel. At least that's what's been happening to me.

I'm one of these nail polish addicts who likes to see what the bottle color looks like on my nails ,so opaque glitter is what I shrive for! lol! Hard Candy is not holding up though. I'm still loving the new polish colors though.:(

Are there any tips out there to keep the glitter polish from not peeling? Let me know in the comments!!

Spring is finally here! At least it is on the calender and this season is bringing even more new beauty products and makeup by bountiful. One of my favorite brands, mark. by Avon is launching a collection inspired by Marrakesh.

Lots of spicy colors and bold pieces are in this collection! Here are a few pieces I was sent, complete with swatches and first impressions......

Exotic Beauty Face Powder Mosaics

Exotic Beauty Face Powder Mosaics- This face powder is very finely milled with golden and coral tones. It's perfect as a highlighter. I swirled it around with a bronzer brush to get a perfect combination of colors.

Exotic Hues Eye Shadow Trio- When I first saw this trio, I thought of fall, the gold, bronze-y orange and deep forest green. However it can be worked into a spring/summer look to pair with the season's tribal looks.

Gloss Gorgeous Stay On Lip Stain in Spicy- This gloss is a beautiful, sheer caramel brown. It has mark's signature calming minty scent and its not sticky. I didn't find it really staining either, just a great everyday gloss to compliment the face powder and trio.

Brazen berry is one of my favorite vivids. Initially I thought I should be brighter but looks great with bright colors like turquoise , orange, yellow and gold.
I put a bit of MAC Fantabulous Dazzleglass in the center of the lips.
