~Hair~ New Products: Cleansing Conditioners....

The drugstore/mass market companies have been on their toes in the last couple of years when it comes to keeping up with the popular brand concepts. I've noticed in the last couple of weeks, cleansing conditioners, or low or no shampoo "poo"-shampoos have been coming through the stores.

This is a very popular hair product since Wen became a popular mass product available through infomercial All women of all hair types boast the benefits and the love for Wen's cleansing conditioner. There's a Wen "knockoff" in Sally Beauty Supply called Hair One and companies like Ouidad make one as well, sold in salons and Ulta. Now L'oreal and Salon Grafix has one that available in your local CVS or Walmart.

I know I lot of women, relaxed and natural, who cleanse with light conditioners. They call it "co-washing" or "conditioner washing".....

I saw this entire display of L'Oreal EverCreme system that includes a cleansing cream in my local Walmart.

Spotted this Salon Grafix cleansing cream in my local CVS.....

I picked up the Ever Creme Cleaning Conditioner to try. Right now, I use Original Moxie Get Clean No-
Foam which amazing. It lightly cleanses but it's packed with moisture, so my hair and scalp are clean and soft.

~Fresh Coat~ China Glaze Owl's Night.....

I found this bottle of China Glaze Cat's Eye in a mom & pop Dollar Store among a bin of other polishes. I've probably had it for over six months, its been swimming around in my polish collection. Notice it has the old China Glaze labeling, but the polish is super fresh, not sticky or gloopy.

This is two coats of Owl's Night...its a gorgeous olive green. I did a bit of research on the color, turns out Owl's Night is heavily wanted and rarity in polish addicts circles. I even saw on Ebay, one bottle being sold for a $14.50!!!

~Hair~ My 6-Day Hair....

Last Wednesday, I decided to wear a style I tried back this summer that was inspired by You Tuber MsVCharles. I didn't want to mess with my hair for a day or two. That day or two, turned to a WEEK! lol! I couldn't believe it! I dare say, I wore a "protective" style...which the term itself... makes me itch.:/

Here's the post I did on it last summer with the video by MsVCharles....

This is Day Two....

This is Day Four, a rainy Saturday, I wore a beanie...

This is Day Six...I like how the top expanded and got all fluffy. On Day Five, I redid the french roll in the back, but other than that, I wrapped my head in a scarf every night and in the morning, freshen it up with a bit of oil and I was done.

Yesterday, I re-washed it and instead of a plain french roll, I did mini twists for more variety. I can wear the roll, a puff, a bun, or a ponytail.

At the top, I did the finger coils with Pro Style Gel aka Black/Brown Gel...it just works better on my hair.

Here's the back with the mini twists in a french roll for today....

This year is my third year fully natural. I'll admit, that I'm not where I wanted to be length wise, but I refuse to live another year CONSUMED with length goals and tracking my length. I'm going to enjoy the hair I got and continue work keeping it on my head!!

~Rural Style~ DIY Stretch Beaded Bracelets..... Part Two!

It was on Sunday, I realized, out of all the jewelry I owned, I didn't own any pearl bracelets. Such revelation would come on my sorority's founders' day. LOL!

So instead of buying some( because I am on a NO-BUY):) I made some!! I just took one of the many strands of cheap pearl necklaces I had, some earrings that was "over" and some stretchy cord and got to work.

That one necklace yielded three bracelets...which a perfect stack....

Then I took a wooden beaded necklace that I never wear and made some similar bracelets....

All stacked together!!!

Super stacked!!!

~Haul~ New 2012 Wet N' Wild Cosmetics....

Losing on my 60-day no-buy challenge....clearly its a "challenge"...lol!...there are some wins and loses. I went all week til' I decided to go in Walgreens and it was cheap makeup I haven't seen/new magazine heaven. Spent $20 on makeup and a magazine. But tomorrow is a new day. I woke this morning with this affirmation:

"Only good lies before me and there's nothing that important out there that I need to buy":)

Repetition is the mother of success, right?

On to the haul....:)

I got five new Wet N' Wild shades including two of the new MegaSheild colors

I saw on this blog that some these shade were comparable to MAC lippies...including Purty Persimmon, which is a close dupe to MAC Morange.

**That is one of the draws to me of cheap/drugstore makeup, some of it dupeable or close to dupeable and its much more affordable. But the negatives are sometimes, lack of quality and you spend all these little amounts of money, after awhile it all adds up to the amount you couldv'e use to purchase the real thing. Just my thoughts.**

Wet N' Wild has some of the shoddiest packaging. I almost broke two of the sticks in half trying to get the top off.

MegaSheild Lip Color in Within These Adobe Walls and Bare-ly Legal.

Adobe Walls is too light for my complexion and Barely Legal is a pretty nude. Absolutely no longevity of product though...lol...seriously, I had a Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks, looked down and my whole mouth was on the cup! Plus I broke both sticks, trying to get the cap off, they are very soft, so be careful when purchasing.

I also got one of those huge bronzer compacts they replaced the old bronzers with. Bikini Contest is a spot on match for my complexion. I'm sure I will use this alot in the summer, but I've used it for the last two days, and I love it.

I only got one of the new singles...Stagedive...too bright to pass up.

~Fresh Coat~ Spoiled by Wet N' Wild Show Me Some Skin....

I feel like I haven't posted a Fresh Coat in forever. Truth is, nothing I've been wearing on my nails has been show off worthy. I wore a dark purple, then a sheer mauve, then I was over it for a while. I hope that spring brings some fresh new colors in polish!

I grabbed one of the new Spoiled by Wet N' Wild polishes in Show Me Some Skin. We have a display of these polishes at one of the local CVS. The colors are so-so, lots of dupes.

This is three coats. Two coats was a bit to sheer for me. I'm over sheer polish...I need opaque life. LOL The consistency is a bit on the thick side and it has one of those curved bottom, wide brushes, like the ones that Sally Hansen had in their one stroke polishes that time. Some of the old Pro OPI polishes have them. The bristles are uneven, though...so the concept is not executed as well as it should be.

Do you have any of these Spoiled polishes?...What are some good picks? Let me know, the price ($1.99) is pretty dope.:)

~FOTD~ Revlon Colorstay 16-hour Eye Shadow in Adventurous....

Technically, this purchase, Revlon ColorStay 16 hour Eye Shadow in Adventurous, was purchased with Extra Bucks the day before I started my 60 day No Buy. LOL!

Also, I don't know if I lasts "16 hours"...I wore it both days for about 8 hours each...so...*shrugs*:)

See? This is why I don't do swatches. Shoddy swatching.:/

The colors have good pigmentation, I didn't do much building, if any, but I'm over big bold pigmentation, so this color level worked will on me. The quad is also very "warm"...if you have golden or warm undertones, it will be gorgeous. Perfect for work and traveling....

Day One

I didn't use a primer either...just to see how long it will last....no creasing and lasted about 7-8 hours.

Day Two

The blending quality is great...I didn't have to put any elbow grease into it. LOL!

I don't know if I'll buy the other colors...I'll need to take another look....

~Challenge~ The 60-day No Buy.....

Thanks to my sista cuzin/cuzin sista and fellow blogger Micki ingenious idea to go on a 60-day no buy, I'm now on a No- buy.

I always thought, "Why should I be on no-buy, I'm always on a no-buy, realistically", but truth is I NEED to do this to stop buying crazy amounts of cheap makeup, thrifted clothes I will not wear, low quality clothes, fattening fast food ( I've gained 7 lbs:/ ). Don't get me wrong, I love a bargain, but with all the cheap makeup I buy I could save up for something quality I really want. I got palettes and palettes of eyeshadow, $2, $1 shadow I've never worn...that's the same thing as wasting money on a $30 palette and never wearing it.

So here's what I'm going to do:

-No Makeup
-No Thrifting
-No Crafts or Craft Supplies ( Michael's sucks me in)
-No Etsy
-No Subscription Boxes
-Eat out once a week.
-No magazines

Anything else I think of I'll put on this post.

I have some CVS Extra Bucks that expire by the end of the month...so I will spend those tomorrow.

The Challenge will start January 8, 2012 and end March 8, 2012

** I already have a plan on how to work on the cravings and lemmings....I'm going write down everything I want or make wishlists on websites, so when the challenge is over, I can see if I still want it....and make a Pinboard on Pinterest of all the stuff I wanted within the 60day period:)**

Anyone else game??? Any suggestions of how not to spend? Let me know...so we can do a daily check in Twitter or Facebook.

~Fresh Coat~ Milani Red To Tango....

I have been so bored with my polish collection as of late. So, when my sis Kim sent Milani Red To Tango to me, I didn't hesitate to apply! Its just the punch of color and push I needed!!

I applied about three coats, I still see my nail underneath.:/ Ya'll know how I feel about that. What is the world coming to? Sheer nail polish? I can't live. smh.

However, in the sunlight...its a brilliant, sexy red...true red...like the red crayon in a box of Crayolas. I could check the swatches...I live with the Crayola/Lego/Mario Bros. Boyz.
I'm applying a fresh coat of Red to Tango tonite.:)

~Hair~ Carol's Daughter Hair Products ( Christmas Present!)

Hey Everyone!!

One of my beauty resolutions ( post coming soon!!) is to do more natural hair blogging ( again). Yep, I've made this "resolution" and "goal" before but I never do much of it. There are so many awesome natural hair bloggers and vloggers that I love and respect out there that I don't feel like its my lane. However, we all have different experiences with our hair and everyone can contribute to the natural hair journey in some sort of way.

Perhaps my experience, type of hair ( kinky, 4b-4c, porous, medium density), and reviews will help someone along the way? So what do you say????!!! Let's get started!

I received this AMAZING gift of Carol's Daughter hair goodies for Christmas...I was too geeked because I stan for Carol's Daughter. Alot of naturals don't because they don't do "all -natural" or they're not "cheap" or folks don't agree some the business decisions they have made. However, I love their body products( Almond Cookie, Goddess Flower, Roses and Honey and on and on....lol) and have had some hit and misses on their hair products.

I washed my hair and DC'd ( Deep Conditioned) with the Monoi Repairing Hair Mask then I did a Bantu knot out with the Healthy Hair Butter and Mimosa Hair Honey. The next day I took it down with a bit of Tui Moisturizing Hair Oil on my hands....

The results:

Monoi Repairing Hair Mask- One of the best DCs I've EVER had!! My hair was soo soft and smelled amazing. I used the .71 sample that I had and it covered my whole head. Over the week, my hair felt strong from the treatment and I saw no signs of breakage. It does contain a protein ( Hydrolyzed Silk) but its the 18th ingredient down the list...so its a fairly light protein treatment. My hair thrives on protein treatments, because its porous. I will be buying a FULL SIZE of this product!!!

Healthy Hair Butter: Smelled amazing as well and kept my hair moisturized for days. I didn't have to moisturize my hair for three days. It was super soft and shiny. Its great for pairing with the Mimosa Hair Honey for a twist out, it contains shea butter and beeswax for an great hold and definition. Its also has glycerin ( for those who are glycerin "sensitive" in the winter months). My hair is neither here nor there with glycerin any time of the year, so it didn't effect my hair at all.

Tui Moisturizing Oil: Great for shine and separating the knots with out tons of frizz. Matter of fact my hair wasn't frizzy at all for days and the shine was crazy to me! That just goes to show I was using the wrong stuff on my hair because my hair was so glossy that it looked as though I had put a rinse in.

I will say that I wasn't very comfortable with an ingredient that is used in most of these products called Corn Oil. I didn't find much on it other than it is an emulsifier and hair conditioner. It shows up on all these products around the the first, second or third ingredient.

I will be reordering the Hair Mask!

Every since I saw the Kardashian Kolor by Nicole by OPI at Walmart, I've only wanted one color: Kim-pletely In Love.

The price on all those polishes are $7....at Walmart * deep sigh*

I bought it on Friday.

So here is Kim-pletely In Love. I was expecting a lux-y creme pink with a bit of iridescent low shimmer...but INSTEAD it's a sheer mess. That what you are looking at...is about four coats, I think, I was on the phone, when I was putting it on. Disappointment is not even a word for it. As much polish as Kim Kardashian wears...she didn't realize how sheer the application was on this polish???

She can put polish on her list of things to never do again....#1??? Fragrance.

~Rural Style~ DIY Stretch Beaded Bracelets.....

I have been craving those stretchy bead bracelets. You know the kind that Honesty, Kill Pink and various Etsy sellers make. I absolutely love their designs but I know I could make these myself. That's no shade to the designers and their prices, I totally understand the business of crafters: materials, labor, shipping, all go into a great product. I'm a crafter too! So I got down to the business of making me some!

I went to Michael's to gather beads and some good stretch band. I probably was in that bead section for an hour...pairing, coodinating, trying to not spend $$$ in Michaels, which is sooo hard!!! I knew I wanted black beaded bracelets and at least three to stack.

I made this one first...I think the knot in the band is a bit too big, but its only for me.:)

I tried to make the beaded bracelets as fitted to my arm as possible.

Then I made two more...and I have a set!!

Then, I made a neutral colored one and a purple on for some color...and now my craving has been calmed! I think....:)

I spent around $26 on all the materials....most of the beads were 40% off and the silver pieces were on clearance for $1.99 for three.

Happy New Year to you all!!!

I picked up the Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips in Nude Eyes during my last CVS run. I don't own Urban Decay Nude Palette ( the first one or the second one). I can't bring myself to buy it! lol! I love neutrals so it makes no sense.

I used the bottom three shades called the "Dramatic" shades on the PF box and some of the "Playful" shades.
The palette is very versatile. I read some reviews that the colors are sheer and not pigmented. That's far from the truth in my case. I LOVE this palette!

The shades blended well and they blend well. I would've loved to see a matte or two in the palette though.

Have you seen these palette? What do you think?

I popped into one of my local CVS' and found paradise (LOL!)...new products around every corner of the makeup section!! Was I still in my lil' honky tonk town?? Had I been transported to a store where displays actually go up? Welp, after I pinched myself...it was true....my CVS had new stuff. ..and I took a "couple " pictures.:)

New Revlon ColorStay products....polish, a mousse foundation, shadow quads....

New Sally Hansen Salon Effects prints...I see the stick on polish trend going all the way in for 2012....

I LOVED this one....its called "Love Letter".....

I've never seen a Rimmel display in my CVS....looks like Kate Moss has a lipstick collex for Rimmel

L'Oreal Infallible single eye shadows.....

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these new PF Shimmer Strips....I saw a post on them on Nouveau Cheap and was praying to God I would be able to cop the Nude one. Done and Done:) Thank ya Lawd!!

Looks like L'Oreal has a lip balm too..... They done something of the sort before.

Couldn't believe these were in my CVS either!! New Wet N' Wild Spoiled polish....

Finally....I spotted the new Almay Primer ( that looks alot like Stila's). It's $13.99. yep.

~Real Spotted~ New 2012 Maybelline Products and After Christmas Sale Haul

I got my 1st break since the kids' have been out of school today, when my mother took them to get haircuts. lol! It was the best hour of my LIFE. I applaud "real-life" stay at home moms ( especially home schooling ones), not involuntary-unemployed-no luck ones like me. You have got to have the patience of Baby Jesus to do 24-7 kids....they'll drive you nuts!

I went to Walmart because I got a gift card for Christmas determined not to spend the the whole thing. I was pretty close to spending the whole thing but I didn't! I knew I had something special....will power!

I spotted some new Maybelline products that got me excited! Check it out.....

A new blush from Maybelline called Dream Bouncy Blush....The colors looked crazy vibrant, I wanted to buy all of the colors...but you see that price.:/ Anyway....I picked up Dream Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin.

New foundation called Dream Nude Airfoam. I think I purchased the first one. There are three dark colors ( the display only had two of each of them while the light colors have as many as five-_-) as you can see, I got Caramel. I'll save my rant for twitter.

***Need to know: The color of the can is the foundation color.***

A mascara called Illegal Lengths....I'll come back for this one...

I also got Love' Baby Soft Lemon, Heidi Klum Shine and Bebe fragance for 50% off......

Hey Everyone!!

I'm on the Final and Day 3 of my Wear-A-Thon with tarte Puttin On The Glitz Color Collection and Purse. Today, I played with and wore "Girls Night Out". Girls Night Out has alot of smokey tones in it and since I didn't want to be smoked out for a day of running around with the kids and lounging...I tried to tone it down with a bit of depth still to it.

I can say, I like this one overall....It reminds me of another palette....Keep scrolling....:)

I came up with this look. I tried the lip gloss( Tarte PureOptic) with no more luck than yesterday, don't like the color or consistency. Girls Night Out is actually very brown girl friendly...there's a light grey in the palette that just melted into my skin tone...and normally greys don't like me!!

I changed my lippie to Cover Girl Lip Perfection in Divine. I felt better afterwards!

Now, here's the comparison I was talking about. I automatically noticed the the colors looked like my Wet N' Wild 6 pan in Lust ( which I believe is on the CVS Beauty Clearance). Take a look....

Not exactly the same but very similar in color scheme....

This palette also features tarte Amazonian Clay Shimmering Powder in Champagne. I own the full size of it and I love it, its a great dupe of NARS Albatross( own Albatross too). I use this often as a highlighter and as a blush.

Overall:

Out of 18 shadows, I like 10 of them and all the blushes. The gloss is no go for me...maybe a different shade would work out. I haven't used the purse, but I think its a great addition to the palettes, I would carry it, going out or to church, you always need a silver clutch!! tarte retail value this whole set is $408 but sells it for $48 and that is a STEAL especially with those blushes alone are around $100 all together. I would buy this!

I'm on Day TWO of tarte Puttin' On The Glitz "Wear A Thon", as I call it! Day ONE can be found HERE with details on the kit and an overview of the Walk In the Park palette....

Day TWO features "Nine to Five". This palette has five shimmers and one matte( that has a little shimmer in it)
The blush is one of the Amazonian 12 Hour 12 Clay Blush in Darling. I LOVE the Clay Blushes....here a LINK to my review on those. Those blushes are $25 a piece so having that one in just one of the palettes is a steal!

Let me note that I'm only wearing a primer underneath each shadow palette and mascara(with a black eyeliner in the waterline) to try to give a true assessment to the products.

The dark shades on these were better than Walk in the Park, as far as being "chalky" but the the lighter shades and that "matte" are a no go for me. Not in my shade game, wayyy to much white shimmer, gives me a white cast on the eyes. The medium pigmentation is consistent to Walk. I love that blush though...its a good Orgasm dupe, very golden, highly pigmented and stays on all day. The lip gloss (tarte PureOptic lip gloss) is just ok, a bit to light to go on alone for me and its sticky.

I thought I would do a 3-Day Wear-A-Thon on the collection then do a summary/review on day three.

Day 1: Walk In The Park Palette ( picture above)

Excuse that hat...I had just washed, condish, and did a "Bantu" knot on my hair and I needed run errands.

There are three shimmers and three mattes( they have a bit of shimmer to them, though) in the palette. This palette also includes the popular tarte bronzer in Park Ave. Princess. The eye shadow have great pigmentation, around the medium level...I actually used the top to dark shades and got a great color...blends with ease as well.

I will say, that the shimmer in the shadow is a bit on the chalky side, it gave me more of a white glow, instead of a golden glow, if you get what I'm saying. I'm not the biggest tarte shadow fan. Over the years, I didn't think that their color shadows worked well for a brown skinned girls such as myself, definitely more for the fair skinned. I thought I would give these a try to see if they were a bit better at the shadow game.

Sunday, I rocked the Laura Mercier Limited Edition Baked Eye Colour Palette. Ms. Mercier has been giving me life lately....seriously!!

Here I am...wearing Nude York City...alone with no lipstick.

My Take:

I love nude lip glosses. Nude York City is a beautiful sheer nude. It would be great over a nude lipstick. The texture is not sticky much, unless you try to build it for intensity...it gets a bit messy and sticky. The smell is very warm and candy like. They are listed on N.Y.C's site as retailing for $2.49..so its a good deal. I would love to check out the other colors....my Wal-Mart and Family Dollar carries N.Y.C. so I will definitely be heading to the display to see what's up!!

~Haul~ CVS Fall 2011 Beauty Clearance....

It took me a week before I shopped the CVS Beauty Clearance....#1 I was little finanically "disabled" lol! #2 I just didn't really see anything I was craving to have. I went in one of the CVS' in town yesterday and got a pretty swell haul, if I say so myself. I also had a budget of $10.:/ Think all this is under $10?

Physician's Formula Bronzer- $3.25

Sally Hansen 4 n1 Complete Care Treatment-$3.57
Sally Hansen Recover Nail Rehab System-$2.49

Ok...I went over $10...but I got a score with the Sally Hansen stuff...seriously. That ONE 4n1 Treatment polish is like $12.00!!!

~Fresh Coat~ Broadway Nails imPress Press On Manicure in Working Girl...

Last Saturday I received my Vox Box from Influenster ( check out the post HERE) and in the box were Broadway Nails imPress Press On Manicure in Working Girl. Can you believe it....REAL "old school" press on nails have hit the scene again!

I would save up my whole allowance to go and buy some of these at TG&Y! lol! Its true what they say, "What is old will become new again."

First, I spotted imPress Nails at Walgreens...the designs were cute...alot more cuter than the ol' red ones I use to buy...

What makes these different from the press ons that require glue is that these don't require glue...they are the old school sticky tab ones without the sheet of sticky tabs. The sticky adhesive is already inside the nail. You just peel the tab off to reveal sticky and press on you natural nail....

This is how my nail came out after a full application..... I like the crackle design and square tips. Its like the perfect crack design! lol!

On my left hand...the ring and the middle finger nails had no definited fit in the pack. I almost didn't put them on because of that but I found something closer in fit. I rather be to big in fit than too small....

My real nails are just as long as the press ons!! They are an "active length"....

Well...because my nails are about the same length as the press ons...they lift up....or it might just be these nails. I've worn press ons with the glue by two other companies and they don't lift even with my nails soo...you figure it out.

I'll keep you all posted on how they rock for the weekend...but I'll be straight up...the first nail that comes off...they all are coming off.

**UPDATE** 12/17/2010- One nail came off this morning...*shrugs* So I took them all off...so that was a total of 14 hours of wear.

I haven't no one's Christmas gifts. I roll like that. lol! I'm a Christmas Eve kinda shopper.:)

I love gifts for myself, bought by myself, because I know what I like. Makeup period makes me very happy. I have couple of gifts for the beauty/product addict in your life that will make her smile just as I do!

My take:

These are some the softest, supple beautiful glosses I've own in a while! Maybe its because I haven't splurged on the "good" stuff in a long bit but I was too impressed with these. $48 for the set, and I totally understand why....the cheap stuff doesn't feel or look like this good on me...and compared to what a single Laura Mercier gloss ( $22) cost...this is a great set for that beauty addict who needs a splurge product in her life....like ME. I will say that I loved all the colors except Quartz which a deep bronze color that totally looks dull on me. The nude shades: Sparkling, After hours, Blush...perfect on my skin tone and build able.

This set is actually sold out on two sites I saw it on. WOW.:)

~FOTD~ NYX Eye Shadow in Exotic Green and Seafoam Green/ Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie....

Awww....doesn't that look all holiday-ish? lol!

I wore NYX Eye Shadow in Exotic Green and Seafoam Green that I won on the NYX FB page. I also wore my Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie. I love that Revlon Lip Butter!! Its smooth and creamy but not oily feeling and the color is gorgeous. Once I got my whole face on, I realized I look very Christmas-y in the face with no intention of doing so. lol!

I was also wearing a green Gap sweater and a raspberry colored sweater vest.;/

Not a huge fan of NYX...but a win is a win and I'm wearing what I got.....

Hey Everyone!!

I threw on Julep Emilie on Saturday night because my nails were beyond wrecked after just a couple of days of wearing Wet N' Wild Diamond in the Rough. It chipped like CRAZY!!!

This is two coats opaque, creamy evergreen goodness...Miss Emilie she is. lol! Its very holiday season-ish. I didn't realize it til' I wore a red blazer to church yesterday.:/
