The Office of Community Services seeks to fund projects that will implement innovative strategies for eliminating food deserts while achieving sustainable employment and business opportunities for recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and other low-income individuals whose income level does not exceed 125 percent of the Federal poverty level. For purposes of this announcement, bonus points will be awarded to projects that will create jobs in a rural community or hire low-income individuals from a rural community to fill positions created. Basic Center Program (BCP) - HHS

The purpose of the BCP is to provide an alternative for runaway and homeless youth who might otherwise end up with law enforcement or in the child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice systems. The programs provide youth up to age 18 with emergency shelter, food, clothing, counseling and referrals for health care. Most basic centers can provide 21 days of shelter for up to 20 youth at a time. [Funding]

Rural Access to Emergency Devices Grant Program - Health Resources & Services Administration

The purpose of the RAED Grant Program is to 1) purchase automated external defibrillators (AEDs) that have been approved, or cleared for marketing, by the Food and Drug Administration; 2) provide defibrillator and basic life support training in automated external defibrillator usage through the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, or other nationally recognized training courses, and 3) place the AEDs in rural communities with local organizations.
