Hello from Gary;

In today’s post I’ll share with you more information about getting the K-1 Visa, more familiarly known as the fiancee visa. This is the visa that is needed to bring a foreign woman into America for marriage. Specifically I’ll put out some ideas on how to go about the fiancee visa process.

I’m going to cover several aspects of the fiancee visa process here and discuss them from the perspective of my own experience. So jumping right into the topic - -

When Should You Start Checking Out The Fiancee Visa Process?

Now this might seem strange, but I believe the best time to start looking into the fiancee visa process is immediately AFTER you have conclusively decided to marry a foreign woman, but BEFORE you have located your bride to be.

I say this for a couple of reasons.

First, I think it’s important for a man to understand the full legal implications and processes of marrying a foreign woman before he starts courting her. It’s important for his sake as well as for hers. And if a man knows about these things in advance he will be better able to provide for her adjustment into her new foreign home.

And second, if a man knows about these processes, he will be able to better assure the woman that he’s got things “under control.” She can trust him. He’ll protect and provide. Through establishing this sense of assurance, you’ll be more likely to convince your “dream girl” to trust in you.

And know too that your foreign fiancee will be required to submit documents and comply with specific requirements for the fiancee visa process. If you personally are aware of these things in advance, you can alert her to them early on so that she does not get “surprises” in her mail.

So check out this stuff early and know how to “take care of business.”

What’s The Best Way To Start The Fiancee Visa Process?

O.K., so you’ve decided to marry a foreign woman and you want to learn about the fiancee visa process. So do you rush out and hire yourself a lawyer? NO, not yet. Ultimately, I recommend that you get a lawyer. A competent lawyer can lead you through the fiancee visa process and help you avoid certain “land mines.”

BUT, initially I recommend you buy a fiancee visa “kit” first and study it to get a solid feel for what’s involved.

Why do I say this? Well I did not do this when it came time for Alla and I to undertake the k-1/fiancee visa process. And I regret not doing it and being knowledgeable in advance of the whole rigamarole involved. Yes I had hired a solid lawyer to “shepherd” us through the process. And everything worked out great including navigating through some major glitches. BUT, in retrospect, life would have been soooo much more easily dealt with had I known in advance what the exact steps involved consisted of. So get smart early and avoid the confusion of being mystified by “what’s next?”

What are the criteria for a good fiancee visa kit?

Focus on two areas.

First focus on the author of the kit.

Is the author credible? By this I mean is the author credentialed? For example, I’ve been through the fiancee visa process and have shared lots of insights about it here on our site. I stand by what I’ve written but if I ever write a fiancee visa kit for sale, don’t buy it. Just because I’ve “been there, done that” does not make me credible as in credentialed in the law.

Is the author experienced? In other words you want a kit written by someone “working in the trenches”, actively involved in the fiancee visa process. You don’t want a kit produced by someone with a law degree who happened to recognize that a market existed for fiancee visa kits and created a product to fill the need even though their primary professional focus is completely different.

Secondly, focus on the kit itself.

The kit must be comprehensive. It needs to describe for you the process from A to Z, not just from your side, but from your fiancee’s side as well. It should answer the questions “what and when” must each of you provide things in order to complete the fiancee visa process.

A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE - - virtually all of the fiancee visa kits on the market tout their product as providing “all necessary forms included.” Like to buy their kit you get some special bonus - - HELLO, all the fiancee visa forms are available for FREE at http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/. So whatever forms are included in a kit that you buy, note the form number and go to the USCIS site to get the latest version of that form. I’m not suggesting that you actually use the forms. Get a lawyer is my advice. But you need to study the latest edition of each form as well as the latest published instruction set for each form. (hint - - these forms change often in content and/or format.)

The kit must be readable. Plain simple English is what you want and need. There’s a lot of legal jargon involved in the fiancee visa process. If you’re a lawyer, have fun. But for the “average Joe”, legalese is a pain. And too, it’s unnecessary because the fiancee visa process is easily translatable to language that’s easy to understand. So require readability as a prerequisite for any kit you purchase.

The kit must be targeted to YOU, not to a lawyer. There are kits available that are intended for the sole use of lawyers. They are “hyper-comprehensive”, being so thorough in their contents that for the average person they are totally inappropriate, in fact unusable. Don’t try to be a lawyer in your quest for a fiancee visa. Hire a lawyer, yes. But only buy a kit to arm yourself with fore-knowledge of what’s needed.

There are many fiancee visa kits available on the market across a broad spectrum of prices and content. In choosing one for your use remember the criteria discussed in this post - - credibility and content.

Of the many on the market to choose from, there are 3 or 4 that are appropriate to use for the purposes outlined in this post, i.e. to get high quality information preparatory to initiating the fiancee visa process.

Of these, the highest rating choice is what’s offered through A Foreign Affair. I have not yet prepared a review of the product available through their site. But I will soon and will present it along with other products for comparison purposes.

But in the meantime, if you need to get started on the fiancee visa process ASAP, check out what’s available at A Foreign Affair. Click here

A Foreign Affair Home Page V to go to their home page. THEN scroll all the way to the bottom of the A Foreign Affair home page and click the link that says “FIANCEE VISA”. THEN click on “Do It Yourself Fiancee Visa Package.” Go ahead, check it out. It’s a high quality kit produced by a highly credible person.

So that’s it for now. A Formal review of this fiancee visa process kit will be posted soon along with several others. But don’t wait. If you want to have a foreign bride, start now and get the facts.

Happy Studying and Good Luck.

Gary.

Hi from Gary;

I just watched a video blog on A Foreign Affair’s site done by Bud Patterson, A Foreign Affair Vice President. This is the most down to earth, realistic perspective of how best to relate to foreign women that I have ever seen. In it he describes what foreign women really want. I’m not going to add this to our A Foreign Affair Review since the review is getting quite lengthy.

Neither am I going to write a “blow-by-blow” description of this video blog here. You have to see it to appreciate it.

His remarks echo some things I’ve written about here on our site but he states them much more clearly than I.

In this video blog Bud drills down to what the foreign women on the marriage agency sites are really looking for.

On A Foreign Affair’s home page toward the top in the center panel is a bold “AFA BLOGS.” Click that and look for a blog by Bud called “Expectations Of The Women.” The full title is “Expectations Of The Women: How To For Nice Guys.”

Check it out at A Foreign Affair Home Page V

Watch this video blog and notice that Bud clearly spells out where many men, though well intentioned, screw up in connecting with foreign woman or the Internet dating scene in general. This video is not a sales pitch. In fact Bud flat out states that for certain men that insist on adhering to a specific attitude that he describes, A Foreign Affair is not interested in their business.

He does however reference going on tours as a preferred way to meet foreign women. But that’s not the main point of his discussion and he does not state that as a prerequisite to success.

And we know that tours are not every man’s “cup of tea”, be it from a perceived cost**, or a personal preference standpoint. But view the video anyway for a “heads up” on how to successfully initiate and conduct an e-mail romance.

** The truth is that participating in a tour is in fact a very cost effective and results prone method for finding a foreign woman to marry. To better understand why CLICK HERE for our Marriage Agency Strategy.

Again, this is not a “salesy” video - - it’s just hard-core, realistic and practical information about what women want.

So go ahead and check this out. It’s FREE, no sign ups, no registration, no money, just your sincere desire to be successful with foreign women.

Again, go to A Foreign Affair Home Page V

And if you’re not familiar with our TOP RATED marriage agency, A Foreign Affair, read our review at A Foreign Affair Review. A Foreign Affair is our TOP RATED marriage agency and we strongly recommend them for any man to use to find and connect with a foreign woman for marriage.

That’s it for now. Next up, more fiancee visa info. But check out the video blog mentioned above. It will help you get to the stage of needing a fiancee visa.

Sincere Best Wishes for your Good Luck,

Gary.

P.S. And by all means also check out some of the women at A Foreign Affair. Here’s a sample of some of their Russian women. And A Foreign Affair can also give you access to Latin and Asian women as well.

Hello from Gary;

In this post I’ll describe some facts and considerations about the visa interview for the fiancee visa for your foreign bride. Though I relate some things here that are specific to a Ukrainian fiancee, this is a generic topic and is relevant for any foreign bride whether she’s a Russian woman, or from any other foreign country.

First, about the interview.

The interview is a face to face meeting between your fiancee and the American consul (or his/her representative) conducted at the U.S. embassy in the home country of your fiancee. For example, if you have a Ukrainian fiancee her fiancee visa interview will take place in Kiev, the capitol of Ukraine.

The purpose of the interview is twofold. First and foremost, the consul must be assured through questions and documents review that a legitimate relationship exists between you and your fiancee. In other words is the visa being requested for the intent of you two creating a marriage and living together as husband and wife in America? And second, the consul will not issue a visa for “undesirables.” If your fiancee is a convicted felon or if she shows up at the interview drunk, forget it. No visa will be issued.

It’s not an interview per se as in applying for a job. It’s nowhere near that intense. Essentially your fiancee will be asked a few basic questions most of which she has already answered on the written application. If you attend the interview with your fiancee (highly recommended), you may be asked some questions also. The key point here is to make certain that all documents are filled out truthfully. That way, you won’t get tripped up. Don’t try to fool these people. They’ve seen it all.

The actual interview will be over with in 5 to 10 minutes. The process and environment are not intimidating. For a Ukrainian fiancee the process is this: you check in at the security gate where your appointment is confirmed. Then you go to a waiting room where a receptionist again confirms your appointment, collects from you any additional documents you bring with you (see item # 3 below), and then clears you to meet with the consul when it’s your turn. In the consul’s office you remain standing while you talk to him through a glass partition. He’s behind the partition sitting at a small desk (more like a work counter actually) with a computer and all of your documents.

Assuming your interview has gone well (a comfortable assumption), the consul will place a stamp on a document and instruct your fiancee to give her passport to a person near the entrance of the embassy along with an address where her passport can be given back to her personally. The embassy then delivers her passport to her by special courier within a day or two. It will have been updated with her fiancee visa stamped in it.

Some tips about the fiancee visa interview:

1. I want to state more strongly that it is highly recommended that you attend the fiancee visa interview with your fiancee. For more about this read this post: http://russianbridefacts.com/blog/2007/05/03/the-fiancee-visa-improve-your-odds/

2. The interview is no big deal. Sure it’s very important but don’t you or your fiancee work yourselves into a cold sweat worrying about it. As long as your documents and answers to questions are accurate and truthful, you’ll have no problems. RELAX.

3. You may be granted an interview date before all of your documents are available. Just make certain that when you show up for the interview, you have any missing documents available to turn in to the receptionist at the embassy. If you are missing documents, the receptionist will declare your papers are not in order and you will be denied access to the consul. While in the embassy waiting room, Alla and I saw this happen to a young woman. The look on her face was heartbreaking because she knew she had to start over with the application process and lose another few months waiting for another interview date.

4. When the embassy sends your fiancee a visa interview appointment date, she is given the option to reschedule to a time more convenient. The reschedule date is still of the embassy’s choice. My advice is to take the first date they give you to avoid delays since a new date may be several months into the future.

5. The interview will be conducted in your fiancee’s native language so don’t be concerned about translation issues.

6. When your fiancee surrenders her passport at the embassy, make certain to provide an accurate address where she can have her passport returned to her. Don’t give them a home address (unless home is close by and where she will actually be.)

7. My advice is to get an apartment close by the embassy. This simplifies getting to your appointment as well as getting her visa stamped passport returned to her.

Well that’s it for now. I’ll have more fiancee visa stuff for you in the near future.

Best of luck!
