Late October 2017. Saying goodbye to my friends at Tall Timbers in Port Clinton Ohio and getting on the road to Florida.

Needed a little help getting out of my campsite due to wet grass.

Broke a brakeline in Southern Georgia. Luckily no one was hurt and I was able to limp to this repair shop.

Stopped at a truck stop overnight and found this the next morning. I planned ahead and had a spare.

RV Adventure Bound followers - I have to be about the worlds worst blogger. When I started this blog 7 or 8 years ago I did a pretty good job of keeping it up to date. I was still working full-time but managed to maintain a fairly regular schedule of blog entries. Since I have actually begun the adventure, I have done a terrible job keeping the postings fresh. I'm sorry. I just don't have the same motivation I did in the planning/dreaming stage. Partly because I was not on Facebook back then and I've found that I post there more often than here. Also I find that maybe I don't need the "whole world" to know what I'm up to. The vast majority of people I know and want to share my life with, are friends on Facebook and follow my adventures there.

Three Months

I can't believe it's been three months already. Made it through Memorial day weekend, and the Fourth of July Week. Very busy weekends but no major issues. Carrying on.

My First two weeks

We've been busy getting ready for the campers to arrive for the season. Cleaning sites, hauling tables, fire rings, making repairs. It's been some hard work but I'm feeling good. Some soreness but I think I'll get used to it and definitely come out of this summer in better shape.

So......One of my jobs at the campground will be the unpleasant task of running the "Honey Wagon". For you non-campers, the Honey Wagon is the sewer sucker machine that is used to empty camper holding tanks at campgrounds that don't have onsite sewer hookups. Luckily, we take turns so I won't have to do it ALL the time. For when it is my turn I made this vest to wear to try and inject some humor into an otherwise not very funny but very necessary process.

Let the poop jokes begin.

Summer Work Camping Position 2017

It's official, I report for work at Tall Timbers Campground and Resort on April 15, 2017 for a 6 month work camping adventure. I will be working in the Grounds and Maintenance Department.

The park is located in Port Clinton Ohio just a mile or so from the shores of Lake Erie and World Class Walleye, Perch, and Smallmouth Bass fishing.

Can't think of a better place for me!

New Year, New Opportunities

Although we still have not been able to make the leap to full-timing, we will be visiting Arizona in this new year. We are flying out to catch the end of RTR, (Rubber Tramp Rendezvous) and of course the Big RV Show.
We will be renting a small Motorhome for the visit so we can "play full-timers". It just does not make sense time wise to pull our rig all the way from Indiana & back for just a 10 day stay. So, we'll be the ones (or one of several) of the rigs you see with the big "RENT ME" on the side.

Can't wait. Looking forward to connecting with lots of friends. Most of whom, we have never met.

Wasps do more than sting.

We've been noticing an odor in the rig. Seems especially strong this summer. More than the past. Especially when flushing the toilet. I had a hunch there was some type of vent pipe blockage.

This is the factory installed vent pipe cover. Really just designed to keep the rain out.

Here is what I found under the cover......after I killed a hundred or so Yellow Jackets.

You can see they had the vent pipe almost completely blocked off. Only about 1/2 inch left for the air to escape.

It is designed to suck or siphon out the sewer gasses without any power or wind or fans.

Here it is all installed & ready for action. Hopefully this solves BOTH the odor and insect problems.

The best laid plans.
A lot has happened in the last several weeks. The dream is not dead but it is severely injured.
It is a long story but here are the highlights.
Several technical and financial setbacks have made following through with my plans at this time difficult at best. But even more importantly is my realization that I love Eileen very much and I'd rather be here with her than anyplace else without her. Even if that means another Midwestern winter.
When the time is right for both of us, she and I will start the travel dream together. For now, being together is what matters most.
So come October I'll be moving to Fort Wayne to begin the next chapter. Not the path I planned but a brand new path full of new challenges and opportunities.
Who knows, I might even find a fun new job in the interim.
It is time for a change and at this point in time I believe this is the right choice.
Bring it on life.....I refuse to go down.
