Hello, New Decade

Well that was a long haul away, wasn’t it? August was my last post… AUGUST!

It’s been a busy enough five months, complete with work, work, life, work and that Santa thing with the presents and the tree. I’ve enjoyed myself, played some games and tried to grow up a little; an eclectic end to 2010, with a new look toward the new year.

And with any new change in direction (or return to direction, I guess) comes a few alterations. Firstly, this will no longer be my blog as I’ve installed WordPress over on my own site, (ryangsanders.com) and incidentally turned my site into said blog. I’m utilizing the management system, instead of creating one over and over again for a ground-up site. So, now you’ll see it’s my blog and personal site in one.

Second to that, and actually the more important news is that May 5 & The Assassin will actually be launching this month. I’ve not visited it too much since I initially wrote the foundation episodes, but now feel that I’ve arsed about enough and quite frankly, I just need to publish the fucking thing before I decide I’m not ‘comfortable’ with it and begin procrastinating again.

The beginnings of May are on the site, so it’s simply a case of starting the series. I know I’ve been a bit sloshy on the actually doing it, probably alienating a few people who might have been interested. So, yeah, sorry about that.

Here’s to 2011.

New Venture Progression

I have been busy in a various degree of ways, and no… not the life ways, the ones that drive you crazy and make you bemoan all that the world takes from you and the lacking reciprocation it returns. I’ve been freelance writing for a popular media group, and had a few modest articles published with a forth in the works. It’s paid, so I’ve had to focus on those over the last month or so. In between trying to get And The Stars Ran Red critiqued (finding someone you feel comfortable with is apparently harder than first expected), I have started working on May 5 & The Assassin.

It is with this that I come to light now.

I’ve decided to present the web serial in an episodic format, hopefully once a week on Fridays. The first episode is written, and bar a bit of colour being added, complete, and the second I’m going to be starting in the next day or two. They’re going to run at around 2,000 words each and follow a tightly cohesive storyline running the serial’s full length until, hopefully, it’s complete. I’m close to deciding the publishing type for the episodes, and just need to nail down my approach to the presentation of the entire project, but I’m really trying to go for something different, something more than just text on a page. On the style and genre front, it’s a tongue-in-cheek, cocky sci-fi thriller for adults.

Sufficed to say, I’m excited.

The one thing I want though, is any thoughts or feelings, character ideas or anything to do with experience in this kind of medium – I don’t mind making it reader-inspired to some degree. I could also use a couple of beta-readers to check out the first episode.

Necrology Shorts

Just a quick drop in to highlight my online publication on Necrology Shorts. I submitted my flash fiction piece Knee Deep and they accepted, simple as that. I actually had it accepted over a year ago, but the site shut down before it was my turn, dang. Anyway, they are back up and running and after I re-submitted, here we are: Knee Deep on Necrology Shorts.

I’m even on the home page (for now) and I have my own category, hehe. That strikes me as funny, and something I would like to fill. Over at ‘Shorts, they currently publish on the site alone, with access for Kindle owners and a look to get all of the submitted stories on eBooks as well as possibly a REAL print book of the year’s submissions. That’s a cool aim into the future, I like the enthusiasm and continued forward motion.
