A True Vacation

Being on a true vacation is something that is foreign to me. Usually being out of town leaves me looking for the next real estate deal, exploring emerging markets, deal making, meeting clients or otherwise. So as I sit here on the flight to the island of St. Lucia, firmly located closer to the socialist regime of Hugo Chaves than to the shores of the US, I think to myself maybe this is it. Maybe this is a TRUE vacation.

My wife assures me I won�??t be doing any work. After all this is our 1 year anniversary. I think back to our honeymoon in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where after a few days, I had to start looking at real estate, eventually putting a contract down on an apartment overlooking Copacabana Beach (deal didn�??t pan out). She wasn�??t surprised. After another attempted getaway by my business partner Robert in Panama, ended us in a Spanish home stay program, I realized I wasn�??t built to relax. In fact real estate has become a passion so deeply rooted that even if I�??m going to grocery store, I�??ll pick up the new homes for sale brochure.

So what is a vacation? If I�??m chasing your passion, I�??m not sure that I�??m not ALWAYS on vacation. But this trip will be different. Staying at an all-inclusive resort may offer me little in the way of exploring. However maybe we�??ll do a Jeep tour into the jungle and I�??ll check out some buying some timber.
