Hey everyone, in case you haven't noticed the blog is in ruins right now. I am in the process of finding a host and getting a domain name. This will probally take place by the end of the week. Im not sure how long it will take to get wordpress up and running on the hosts server but as soon as it is you will know.

I found a funny new website. Its called FACEinHOLE, it allows you to easily take your face and put it into numerous pictures. Yes I know we can do this in photo shop but this is fun and takes like 2 minutes. Here is my face in a hole.

Oh, if you choose to manually enter the site into your browser make sure you type faceinhole and not facehole like I did. Facehole.com is not as fun, nor kosher as faceinhole.com. Its amazing what 2 letters can change...

Yes this is a post about the inauguration (sort of), and im not going to say sorry for it. I know if you are anything like me, you are happy that the election is over and happy that maybe for just a little while all the hooplah will calm down.

so if you ask me,

Today is a day for celebration. Not just because our new president is black.

Not just because (Some think) Obama will being something fresh for a new generation.

Not just because its the end of the Bush Era.

but

Because we live in a free country where peaceful transitions of power take place.

Because we can disagree with each other on just about every issue imaginable and live to see the next day.

Because God is alive and in control.

Because we are alive.

Because no matter how bad it gets it could always be worse.

Today I am hopeful for our little nation. I am hopeful that we will lay partisan politics aside and do what is best for our country and the world. But most of all i am thankful that no matter who is in office God is still active, moving, and changing lives. He is still holding our tiny nation in his hand and waiting.

Is this how the story goes?

Im sure you are expecting something much more witty and influential than this post is. However, if you are a star wars fan you will get a good kick out of this. I found this on Gizmodo. I can take no credit whatsoever, but its funny.

There have been some random posts around here lately, as im sure you have noticed. Those posts are a tiny part of a poem I wrote a while back. Those little snippets were meant to make you wonder if i was crazy or not. Mainly its about some frustrations I have, and im sure some of you share with me. enjoy..

I am not satisfied
with the way things are
with the way things have been
spiritually, physically, mentally and so on

with the left verses right
the conservative verses liberal
the emergent verses Orthodox

with being divided

Hey yalls, I wanted to let you in on a really cool organization that our Church is partnering with this year, and from here on out. The organization is called Advent conspiracy, and the partner with an organization called Living Water International. Their main goal is to end the clean water crisis, and are well on their way do putting a huge dent in it.

While I agree with Doug Padgett that is may be a little to early to start making Hitler jokes. I did find this to be very funny. If you keep any tabs on Emergent Village in the slightest bit you will too.

When is the Church no longer emerging? When have we emerged? Because once we emerge we can actually get a name right?

If you haven't thought about it the Church has gone though "emergances" about every 500 years. Think about it, 500 years ago the reformation, 500 years before that the Great Scism, 500 years before that the council of Chalcedon, and so on. Every 500 years it seems that the Church rethinks where its going. As of right now we are in the middle of that rethinking.

But these are some questions I've been working though as of late. At what point are we no longer in this transitional period? And, are we ever out of it for that matter? Further, are we going to name this movement outside of "emergent" or "emerging". Because if you think about it "emergent" and "emerging" are transitional words for something that is coming into a state of being. When have we reached that state?

Its interesting because we try to label the "emerging church" but in reality we cant label it in terms of styles, because the emerging church is so diverse in its stylings. That is what makes this movement so different from movements of the past. We are no longer concerned with finding a cookie cutter church model that fits in all areas, but more focused on bringing the kingdom of God into our contexts. That looks different in every area geologically and sociologically. Maybe we should be calling this the "ecumenical movement" or "the really diverse movement with no real name".

With that said I do recognize that there are some values that more emergent people share. Such as a greater sense of community, acceptance, kingdom mentality, and recognition of social injustice. At the same time we are really diverse because we have people like Mark Driscoll, and then people like Rob Bell. Both considered emergent but very opposing in thought.

So what do you think? When have we arrived? Do we ever really arrive? What should this movement be called?

Im sure those of you who dont follow me on twitter or another social network have been wondering where the heck I am.

Well I am alive and kicking. I was in the hospital for 5 days being treated to viral meningitis. What that is im still not totally sure. It has something to do my brain being infected. Really not all that good.

Anywho, all in all im feeling better. I still get really tired really easy and my back hurts like heck. While I was in the hospital I had to have two spinal taps (freaking sucked). That could have something to do with it.

Anyway, I am back at home, and I am feeling better.

Thanks for all the prayers, and encouraging words.

This picture came from a AOL news article. A spokesmen for the group said "We are trying to reach our audience, and sometimes in order to reach an audience, everybody has to hear you. . . . Our reason for doing it during the holidays is there are an awful lot of agnostics, atheists and other types of non-theists who feel a little alone during the holidays because of its association with traditional religion."

Do you think its because Christians have made them feel unwelcome? If any of you are atheists, agnostics, or a non-theist in general chime in I want to know what you think too.

This is a note written by Steve Smallwood, one of my professors, whom I have the utmost respect for; often times he is a breath of fresh air.

This is a dream shared by me I am praying for it to become a reality.

I Have a Dream

It’s based not just on the American dream,
And it goes beyond justice related to skin color,
Though who could not be moved at the tears
Streaming down the cheeks of black men and women.

I have a dream that transcends ethnic differences,
One that moves beyond the divisive issues of yesterday’s battles,
And calls on citizens red and blue to beat their tired rhetoric
Into plans for action to address issues of significance.

My dream envisions Christians who would embrace the Kingdom,
Above and beyond any denominational or national loyalties.
