Since this was what I did everytime I go to the cinemas, I often try to remember what trailers they show before the main movie. So I tried very hard for the past week and I only remembered two movies, RED and DEVIL.

Red & Devil are both movies that are coming soon to the cinemas. I'm not sure when they will be shown but I'm quite excited in watching both. Not because if you put them together: Red Devil; it automatically means I already associated them with Manchester United, but that's not the case and it's quite coincidental.

Movie: Resident Evil: Afterlife

Resident Evil: Afterlife is the fourth movie of the series that just came out in theaters just recently. The action-packed movie did most of the work in entertaining me and my expectations of a Resident Evil, unlike the previous one, Resident Evil: Extinction, where I kinda fell asleep after several action scenes. Well more on my thoughts about the movie but be warned, it contains spoilers and I don't want to ruin it if you haven't seen the movie yet.

Simple.

No matter how hard you think about the design of a blog, being simple is sometimes the best design there is. First, it wouldn't take too much time to load compared to a sophisticated blog with things going from left to right, text everywhere, links/pictures and yes, advertisements that distract your audience from viewing what you really need to show.

With that in mind, I've opted to re-design my blog, still designing if it would suffice just to leave it as simple with a black background and just text and pictures with a blogger pre-made template, or make an effort in using a different one but less cluttered design. Just wait and see for the next few days, I'll have my final decision for my blog and probably be back to blogging once again.

Memories

I was caught reminiscing about the past, even took me back to when I was still in high school where I was an avid fan of soccer. I just couldn't forget that day, when my friends and I placed our bets of our favorite team to win, and of all things, I was the only one to place a bet on Manchester United. They picked Bayern Munich for some odd reason that I cannot remember but that is how it went.

Sweet memories of us watching the Champions League finals, each had a shawarma and half chicken broasts to enjoy the match. To me, nothing was sweeter after that and right now, I feel alive and filled with hopes after watching it again.

Update on Home Reconstruction

It's been almost a month since the time our house went bye-bye. In this I mean, totally removed from the land, demolished into chunks of debris that were taken away to an unknown place where it would be used up or dumped. I don't really know what they do with all those materials but that's one less worry for me since the new house is looking great.

What really impressed me is that they worked professionally and fast, with the weather cooperating with the construction, I guess this was the right time for this. I mean, there was a typhoon that was said to have hit the country but there were just a sprinkle of rain here and there but not like Typhoon Bashang or other previous devastating typhoons that hit the country.

If the progress of the house continues this way, I do hope it does, I could probably move back by the end of September. That's almost a month away with days to count. I can't wait to paint my room crimson red or even light blue with matching carpet. Well, on second thought, probably throw out the carpet idea and just settle in for linoleum tiles or flooring. I can't wait for that time so that I can have my trusty and reliable internet connection as well as watching movies on the cable TV.

Back to Basics

I have forgotten how many years it has been for me since I've seen a code for a program before, but now I'm going to embark on a new journey that I've traveled thru before. I'm going back to college!! I guess I'll go take up basic coding again, then advanced programming languages along the way. If the opportunity presents itself, I'll probably become a teacher too! Imagine that, I never have thought of becoming a professor teaching a computer language.

With due time, everything will take place and I'll be restarting my career path as a programmer and not a professional ~~bum~~... err blogger. :)

Home Reconstruction

After Bagyong Basyang came the construction workers. Yes, construction workers. Not to repair our house but to clear out, remove everything, and build a new house on its place. It was somewhat a sudden decision my parents made when they arrived from abroad. Not sure what really triggered it but probably because they saw large cracks on the walls, rain leaking from the ceiling, and the water pipes somewhat getting rusty and sprouting leaks where water would gush out like a newly formed fountain.

So in one day, we transferred everything to a rented house nearby. Good thing we found the place from a friend and it was somewhat like a blessing to begin the reconstruction of our home. So after that, I was dead tired and found out that there were no internet connection. I was somewhat having withdrawal symptoms where I would be restless, walking here and there, looking outside the windows, and then rolling left to right and vice versa on my bed. My dad then tried out Smart Bro. We found a signal but couldn't connect to the internet using it. So I then took it to the nearest Smart Center and asked them to configure Smart Bro on our laptop. 3 agents were trying to configure it, almost taking them 1 hour before saying that they couldn't configure it. So I went home dismayed. I checked on our house and the garage was filled with cement, sand, and hollow blocks. I smiled when I saw them whacking the walls with a sledge hammer. I don't know why I smiled but I was happy that the house would be rebuilt and would look good after. I hope.

My dad went out the next day, and checked out Globe. He didn't like the cost of a Globe Tattoo plan and the bond of the contract, but good thing he checked out Sun. I was somewhat skeptical at first since Sun was reported to be slow and sometimes no signal. But I guess they proved me wrong. My dad bought a Sun sim with a Sun Dongle (not sure if that's how you spell it) and tried it out on the laptop. It was connecting but no internet. We both were dismayed and then decided to just leave it on while we went out with the rest of my family to eat at McDonalds.

When we got back that night, I tried out the internet and then BOOM! The browser loaded the Google page. I went directly to facebook and it loaded. I logged in and it loaded. I jumped with joy and my dad sat down and opened up his email. So much for my happy jump, I got to use the laptop after 4 hours. :)

The next day, my dad said that the internet was fast and there was some disconnection but it was rare so he decided to buy a wireless router from Sun. Yippee!! While he was gone, I enjoyed playing games on facebook and browse thru the net. But one thing bothered me, I couldn't stream video! Noooooo! I couldn't watch anime! Youtube! or even asian drama!! Hmmm, I guess I could try downloading the episodes and watch it after. I was happy when I saw how fast the download speed was. I was enjoying watching anime before my dad arrived with the router.

After setting up the router, we set up every single laptop and devices in the house so that whenever someone would be using it, they could have internet access. Internet, what would I do without you? hehehe

Right now, I'm in my room in the rented house, probably our home would be finished in October or earlier than that I hope. I can't wait for my new room since it would be bigger than my previous one and it would be somewhat an entertainment room. :D

It was almost 11pm when the news said that it would hit mainland Philippines. We were ready for it but what can you do? Expect the unexpected.

At 12 midnight, winds started to rattle the neighbor's roof. We could hear the steel roofings clapping against each other. Then the electricity went out. I immediately turned on the emergency lights as well as get the radio out. But alas, we couldn't use it since we didn't have any batteries for it. Yes, we had alot of AA and AAA batteries in our emergency kits, but the radio required 4 DD batteries. (I wondered if such batteries still exist).

I turned on my cellphone, plugged in the earphones, and tuned in to listen to the FM radio. Funny DJ on the radio, cool music selections, dark environment, rattling roofs... what more can you ask for? Well, you could add mosquitoes that appear out of nowhere but that was resolved through the use of Baygon.

Cool winds helped the weather since that morning, it was hot and humid. We could sleep but none of us did since we were still on alert if our neighbor's roof would be torn to pieces by the loud screeching winds of Bagyong Basyang.

I fell asleep on the dining table and woke up at 8am. The typhoon has started exiting the mainland and heading northwest. We checked our roof and everything was still ok. The neighbor's roof was still there but was dented outward so there's a small hole where rain could come in and do major damage to the electricity of their house. They immediately had a carpenter fix their roof.

My parents went out to buy batteries for the radio so that in case of the next typhoon, they could be informed thru it from the news. It was really a typical typhoon experience but what really bad about this one is that it disrupted major electricity supply throughout Luzon. 3 days was estimated for everything to be fixed. I was somewhat dismayed by that news since there's no electricty, which means no internet, no computer, no PS2, no cellphone (batteries were running low so I had to turn it on when I needed to text someone). Luckily, it just took 1 and a half days for the electricity to come back on but after that, I couldn't enjoy myself using the computer and internet since the house was scheduled for a total renovation.

Frontierville Diary

I've got lots of ideas to share but I've become to lazy to put it into writing, let alone spend more time on my blog to post about it. So here goes my first idea. Although many might have had this since they're started playing Frontierville, I've decided to share my stories of what happens when I play this game on a daily basis. Not sure if I can cope up with this everyday but I'll try to do it once a week or even if I get the energy and dedication like my blogger days, I'd do it twice or thrice a week. However, since this is a particular topic that I am going to write about, I've also made the choice of creating a new blog for that and I'm doing it right now as I am typing this post.

Coming Back

Now that I've had ample rest time, a very very long rest, I've got back my interest in blogging again, but not sure for how long. However, I'd like to share with you a new game from Zynga, Frontierville. Yup, it's about you being a somewhat cowboy/girl out with nature trying to manage a living out of the wilderness. I love this game, despite its bugs and always changing mechanics every week, because it runs like Harvest Moon with a western outlook. Not saying that it's a copycat of Harvest Moon but who'd not like playing this game who are fans with that type of game genre.

I'd probably be doing some Tips and Tricks with Frontierville, as well as add some quest guides. Not sure how I'll start it but it will be done when I get to it.

I've also started playing Tribalwars again, starting on W49 and restarted in W37 on a new account. Yup, my old teammates are still there, playing and destroying everything in their paths. But I'd just play on my own leisure so that I won't bother their winning streak and be serious in W49. I did see alot of changes and one thing that I liked was the awards section. Cool, right? Achievements of a TW player on their profiles. :D

I've also been watching the FIFA World Cup 2010. My favorites are Germany and Japan, but recently Japan got eliminated by Paraguay thru penalties. I do know that the next match will begin in an hour or so, Spain vs Portugal, I'm guessing Spain will win 1-0. But then again, that's my thoughts and I'm not gonna watch the match since I'm off to bed in a couple of minutes after posting this.

Console vs PC

I've been thinking about what to buy when I get the chance to earn extra money. A console or the latest Gaming PC? I really don't do much on the computer except go online, watch movies/anime, read stories, and sometimes play computer games. But after a year or so, the computer parts needs to be upgraded and sometimes computers goes BOOM! Well, I guess playing or using the computer almost 24/7 would lead to that.

So here's my thoughts. For a console, I could buy PS3 or an Xbox 360. The price would be cheaper but not sure about their features and limitations. If I bought a gamer PC, I don't know the real specs of the latest gamer PC, I sometimes get lost when the PC techs talk about video cards and the brands. Major nosebleed and leaves me with a headache and I tell them I'll come back later...

What do you guys think? Hmm. Not sure if anyone reads my blog entirely but I guess I'll leave this question open to anyone who can help me. No, I can't offer anything in exchange for opinions.

I've got another plan so that I can have peace of mind. Buy a PS3 (learned just now that it can access WiFi!), then buy a gamer laptop (I guess this one goes in a package in which I don't have to worry about specs). Yeah, that's probably the best plan but I'm still open to suggestions. I've got 4 months to achieve this goal (think like I'm playing life like a game with achievements, a common motivator for hardcore gamers!).

I've been away from this blog for quite some time now. Probably no time to update or share to you guys about my recent life on gaming and stuff and now I've got some time to spare before I do another extensive training towards a career.

Ragnarok Online. It was a great game. Met alot of people. Shared interests and even had the opportunity to be part of an online tournament. I know it would have been great to have reached the finals of that said tournament but reaching the eliminations was enough to be make myself proud. But at this moment, 3 months have passed since I've last logged into the game. Main reason is time. I don't have time to play the game anymore. So easy to say, I'm going to say I'm retiring from its competitive nature and usually login once in awhile to check what's new.

Tribalwars. I've still been playing this ever since training started. Why? Easy access and is a great stress reliever when you get to beat up another player and take their villages with them looking at the computer screen in dismay. I may experience that somewhere in the future but I do hope I'll keep on playing in W37 for another year. I do love going into the forums to read discussions and arguments about the perfect build, perfect nuke, perfect stories they share. But what I don't like is when someone asks something obvious, another comes along and say the N word. No not the N word most people consider as racist, the N word in gaming jargon. "Newb, noob, nub." Oh well, they'll just have to learn it the hard way in the game instead of spouting out that word in the forums.

Facebook. I've been playing alot of games in this social media site. Lots of great games, lots of people online to play with. But I don't really know most of them due to them just playing hte game and most of them are on the other side of the world. But I do enjoy Playfish games such as Restaurant City, Country Story, Pet Society, Gangster City, Crazy Planet, and along with Zynga's Mafia Wars, and BrokenBulb's My Town. Farmville and other similar farm games somewhat bore me, repetitive plowing, expanding your farm to plant more, time consuming due to lag and/or slow processing of harvesting/plowing/planting crops. So I don't play those types of games, unlike Country Story, cute graphics, fast animated processes, and share some similarities with Harvest Moon. Not saying that they took it from HM, but since I'm a HM fanatic (first played it on the Playstation), I guess this tickled my fancy.

Magic the Gathering. I've lost two decks, the slow elf learning deck and my Nuts & Bolts modified to perfection deck. I've misplaced it somewhere and I can't seem to recall where I last seen it. An investment gone lost. Although I'd like to join in any official tournaments again, I guess I'll keep on earning money to buy myself a new deck in a new release packs. I haven't seen the newest release or what's it is named but I guess it's never late to enjoy reading the lastest news on MTG. I do recall one time during college, I vowed to myself, I will become one of those greatest players in MTG history... but up to now, that dream is still yet to come... or probably never happen unless something great comes up and allows me to play with the big league. :)

Online Gaming. I've heard stories about new MMORPGs and latest craze of first person shooters. I've even watched some matches on Arirang E-Sports shows, showing matches between players on Starcraft, Warcraft III, Fifa Soccer Online, Freestyle Online, and Special Forces. I really like watching those types of shows, reminds me of my days competing online for the #1 spot. But I guess age does show when you have to know your limit and go on with life. I'm not playing any MMORPG at the moment, just for reference.

I guess that's the end of my ramblings, probably do another one sometime next week, but hopefully not this long. Til then, :)

Bagyo Pepeng

Even though it is predicted to hit our area on Friday night or Saturday afternoon, I guess this one is stronger than the previous typhoon that hit the country. Opposite of Bagyo Ondoy, Pepeng is gaining speed and from the looks on the top view satellite images, it looks like it's bringing in fewer clouds compared to Ondoy. However the high speed winds blowing may affect the country more since most of the areas hit by the floods would expect the worst since houses have been weakened by the high flood waters and hope they would be safe and out of harms way.

I'm also worried about other people who have lost their homes from the flash flood and landslides. I do hope the control bases set up by the government and other private companies can provide safety for them.

I guess I should start preparing for Pepeng. I may not know what may happen next since I was totally unprepared when Ondoy hit. Better safe than sorry, I guess.

Bagyo Ondoy

It was just a few days ago when I caught myself unprepared that a typhoon was entering the country, I wasn't able to watch the news nor read up on the current weather forecasts online due to hectic issues that needed to be done. Heavy rains started to pour on Friday night, where the electricity went out in our area for about an hour. I slept it off and the rain haven't stopped the whole Saturday. My pet cats were cuddled inside a cabinet outside our garage so they were safe from the typhoon. Lunch time came and suddenly, there were no internet connection and I checked the phone. Just like in the movies, BEEP... BEEP... BEEP. Not the natural sound you'll hear from your phone but an alarming emergency beeping noise. I checked the house from left to right to see if there were something wrong. The backyard was ok, the sides were ok, but the garage was slowly being invaded by orange rainwater. I remember what it meant when the rainwater going down the street towards the creek was orange, it meant that either a flash flood occurred in Antipolo or a few couple of sand from the mountain just came down due to the heavy rains. I sat on the couch, tried to watch television to let time pass by.

Sunday came, still raining but not that hard, I kept on checking the phone to see if there was any dial-tone. I also kept checking around the house to see if there's anything wrong that I should be aware off. All I had was the television to update on what's going on and my cellphone to keep others informed that I was OK. Well, alot of family members texted me and called me on the cellphone. They were relived to hear that I was OK. They thought that the house was flooded since the phone was unaccessible at that time. When the rain somewhat slowed down, I rushed towards one of the tindahan in the street. To my dismay, every tindahan was closed and the people inside relocated to another place. I guess I'd have to ration my food stocks til the storm ends.

Monday was welcomed by light rain and winds. The street has became orange in color and I'm not exaggerating. Putik or mud stuck on the road and part of the garage. I cleaned the garage up using rainwater to conserve my water supply. With that part done, I checked on my pets and other parts of the house again from time to time, just to see if there were leaks or damages caused by the heavy rains and winds. I guess I'm lucky that the house wasn't that heavily damaged and only found a few leaks.

But I checked on the news and was shocked to see how large the typhoon damaged the country. Yes, it was not that strong of a typhoon but it brought in rainfall that poured in 2 days that should have been the average rainfall that should have poured in the span of a month! That was too much.

I guess I'm lucky to be one of those who survived the typhoon and had little damages but I offer prayers to those who died in the floods and hope for the best to the survivors in rebuilding their homes and lives. And the reason why I'm making this blog post is that I feel I had to share this after the internet/phone line had been restored earlier this day, even if my blog has a few audiences. What matters most is that I'm thankful that I'm safe and my family are also safe from harms way that was brought by Typhoon Ondoy.

Back from Hiatus

I have been too busy since April of this year that I've almost forgotten I've got a blog! Anyways, I've got myself pre-occupied with online games, especially Ragnarok Online, Facebook, Hello Kitty Online (which will soon be commercial in the Philippines!) and job hunting.

Even though I've gotten no luck in the past week from interviews due to me being overqualified for the job (heck why are they scared of overqualified people that can do the job and produce quality work! They should take that person and keep them for the betterment of the company! But what do they do? They get an underqualified person and then spend more money to train them. Sad.) But that's life and I guess there's a great job waiting for me that pays right with benefits and probably give me access to that high-class level of society. :)

On with my online gaming experience. Ragnarok Online Philippines had a two week EXP mod with big Hypermart sales. Too bad I didn't get the opportunity to level up my character to the maximum level but at least I had it transcend and now a level 84! I only had 4 days to do that! I'd like to thank my sponsor for providing the funds to supply and make leveling easier.

Before this EXP week extravaganza started, I led my guild, Prism Infinity, to the Wild Card Eliminations of RPC 2009. With the help of our allies, the Payon Alliance consisting of Fear Us, Guardians, Ancient Regime, Buon Giorno, Black Listed, we could not have been in the eliminations. I'd also like to thank a small group in New Chaos that voted for us too!

After the elimination match, (although we lost) we spent time with Fear Us in a small celebration for a great RPC season for the alliance. We aimed to have fun and that's what we did. I guess that's all for Ragnarok Online. More on the Facebook games now :D

Country Story, Happy Farm, Barn Buddy, Island Paradise, Mafia Wars, and Treasure Island are the games that keep me busy when I wake up, have lunch, dinner, and before going to sleep. Not really time consuming games but I do tend to my crops and empty up points before the day ends so that it wouldn't get wasted or get stolen by others that play the same game. I'm waiting for the Moscow edition of Mafia Wars, said it would make us choose one of the 2 factions of Mother Russia and each faction had it's own distinct weapons and rewards. I guess I'd have to sleep on it and hope that when I wake up, Moscow is ready for my to invade.

PC and PS2 games, I've missed out alot since the internet and other things keep me pre-occupied. But I'd like to try out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare but I guess I'd have to wait since my PC specs isn't top-notch.

I'll end this long post now, probably half of the readers have fallen asleep or has never reached this part and ignored my long story that I planned to make it short. Oh well, what can I do. I type as fast as I think and I guess that's a good thing. I can type what comes up on my mind without missing a thing!

A new craze spread like wildfire in Ragnaboards this month, probably the scorching heat here in the Philippines made this online flash game popularly hot! The amazing graphincs, no e-mail requirements, and an awesome fighting system that you must witness! Skills, stats, pets and weaponry are available for each brute, however, you can acquire these randomly. Sheer luck is what you need in this game, as well as a big circle of friends to help you in your quest to making your brute stronger. Why? Because your brute can have pupils that can give experience points, gaining levels somewhat faster. No one really knows the mechanics or system used for the master/pupil relationship but some say that 1 PC per 1 IP address is what registers to the system. I'm not really 100% sure about that but since majority of mybrute players are saying that, I guess that's an accepted theory.

Everyday, your brute can join in the tournament and hope that you'd reach the top as the winner. I think you get a medal for that. Each brute has an initial 6 fights. After that, you can only do 3 attacks per day, which is somewhat not good for those impatient people.

Another great game to play during your free time. All you have to do is to find a shopping item in a variety of objects and click on it to make your shoppers happy. It's easy after a few rounds but the mini-games are somewhat harder than the shopping part. You can enjoy the game here: LINK

Now, this is one heck of a great way to enjoy a game. You have to allocate your animals (chickens, goats, cows, and pigs) so that you'll earn profits to upgrade your farm. What makes it more interesting is that you can also create a variety of pizzas using the goods you've collected. Another factor you should consider is that you have a certain time limit to achieve each goals for that level. Believe me, some of the levels are hard with only a second difference to earn a Gold or Silver Medal. Anyways, this is one of my favorites this month. You can enjoy the game here: LINK

The Adventures of Tetsuo Shima

I've been doing some things in the past for Ragnarok Online but one thing that I haven't done was to create a comic strip for it. Well for an event to be announced to create one, I've taken the liberty to come up with a concept and storyline for the first episode of The Adventures of Tetsuo Shima. I've made a banner for it.

By next week, I'll be showing the first episode: Kafra Love. :)
