• I’ve been pretty impressed with the camera in the new iPhone 3GS. So I was pleased to find this post by Jim Goldstein on 11 Must-Have Photography iPhone Applications.
• A lot of photographers run our own blogs and those blogs usually have ads on them in the hopes of making a few extra bucks. So, if you’re one of those photographers, you might enjoy a recent post from Smashing Magazine on Performing Better with Google Adsense.
• A couple links for my fellow DC photographers: Marc Benton is organizing what should be a great photowalk in Great Falls on July 25th and DCShotList is looking for some photography contributors.

So I need two things:

- 2-3 people to help out with lighting. This may be stuff as simple as holding or repositioning a flash, holding a reflector, etc. You don’t really need to know anything about lighting at all, though if you do, that’s fine too. If you don’t, I’d be more than happy to tell you what I’m doing and why I’m doing it so maybe you can learn a thing or two.

- Up to 10 people who are willing to dress up and be in the photos. The costumes are such that you will be unrecognizable. So need to worry about what your hair looks like or what clothes you should wear. I have costumes and you will be completely covered.

If you are a photographer, I would ask that you refrain from taking photos during the shoot. This is a personal project and I’ve hired a model and gone over the model release with her specifically. However, I will credit you when I publish the final project on my site along with a link to your site if you have one. And, depending on how long the shoot goes, I might be having lunch delivered for everyone.

Another caveat: The theme of the shoot is political and somewhat controversial. My political beliefs tend to be somewhat left-of-center so please make sure you understand that before volunteering to help. By the same token, if you want to help but don’t want to be credited or associated with the project, that’s fine, too. Just let me know.

The only rule is:
Be Professional

There will be an attractive woman in a bikini (no nudity) on the set. I told her that she has the right to request that anyone be asked to leave. My primary goal is making her feel comfortable on the set and if anyone is getting in the way of that, they will be asked to leave.

Date: 15 August 2009

Location: The Studio at Dulles, 21580 Atlantic Blvd., Suite 123, Sterling, VA

Time: TBD. We will likely start setting up around 9am. I anticipate the shoot lasting 2-4 hours.

Happy Independence Day!

I’m still working out the details of the class but this is what you can expect:

• Small Class Size (3-5 photographers)
• Some Lecture Time (to discuss basics and to make sure everyone is at the same starting point)

• A DVD of Lecture Materials and Workflow Tips
