regarding multiple display URL domains per ad group. Please read on to determine whether your AdWords account will be affected by this change.
In an effort to provide more relevant results and a high quality experience for our users, we've made the decision to disallow multiple display URL domains within a single ad group. Going forward, all display URLs within an ad group must have the same top-level domain. Please note that this amendment to our policy applies to all advertisers, regardless of previous exceptions or acceptability of any ad groups.
For example, an ad group containing the following group of display URLs would comply with this policy because all URLs contain the same top-level domain, “example.com”:
www.example.com
www.widgets.example.com
www.example.com/widgets/redwidgets/
www.example.com/index.html
On the other hand, and ad group containing the following group of display URLs would not comply with our policy because their top-level domains don’t match:
www.example.com
www.example.widgets.com
As a result of this update to our display URL policy, we encourage you to make any necessary adjustments to your ads in advance of the change. This will ensure that they'll run without disruption as a result of future disapprovals related to this policy. Also, remember that your ad's display URL must match its destination URL (the URL of your landing page). All other requirements regarding our existing display URL policy and its enforcement will remain the same.
While we understand there are legitimate use-cases for multiple display URL domains within one ad group, we ask that you use separate ad groups for each domain. This will not only provide a better user experience for your potential customers, but will also allow you to better organize and track the various domains within your AdWords account.Posted by Emel Mutlu, Inside AdWords crew
Friday, February 20, 2009 at 10:40 AM

Your one stop for the latest Search Engine Marketing news and discussions.

Day Parting and Demo Targeting with Yahoo??

Yahoo to Offer Tools To Match Users, Ads from the Wall Street Journal reports Yahoo is set to launch new ad features and tools today. What is expected to launch today is the ability for advertisers to show graphic ads to users based on their previous search history. Plus, Yahoo will allow those graphic ads to also be targeted based on what other web sites that user visited and their actions on those web sites.

In addition, Yahoo plans to launch day parting and demographic targeting for their search ads in the next month. Many search engines already offer day parting and demographic targeting, but Yahoo said they have an advantage on the targeting front, being able to use data from their user base of hundreds of millions of monthly visitors.

Your one stop for the latest Search Engine Marketing news and discussions.

Quality Score Updates

Google Says the changes in Quality score are the folowing:

A more accurate Quality Score calculated at the time of each search query

The removal of 'inactive for search' keyword status

Replacing 'minimum bids' with 'First page bid estimates' to provide more actionable and useful information

What are your thoughts will this help or hinder your accounts........?

Your one stop for the latest Search Engine Marketing news and discussions.

Microsoft cosider raising bid for Yahoo?

Microsoft Corp.'s directors met Wednesday to consider raising the software maker's $41.9 billion bid for Yahoo Inc. instead of pursuing a hostile takeover attempt, according to a published report.
The board emerged from the meeting without reaching a decision, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The boardroom intrigue heightens the suspense hanging over Microsoft's bid since Yahoo let pass an April 26 deadline for accepting the offer.
