I have found that these backlinks increases the SERP of your website pages. So give it a try. Since no amount of money is lost from your side for trying out.

Today I am going to tell you about some

must have SEO plugins

that every wordpress blog should have in order to increase their search engine rankings. If you want to rank well and gain valuable traffic from the search engines then you will have to SEO your wordpress blog. Fortunately for us, wordpress users have different valuable SEO plugins which help them to rank well in the search engines. If you are a newbie or a non-techie then this is great for us because we don’t have to go coding into our blogs to gain some results from search engines.
So, What are these wordpress SEO plugins? Here we go…

# All in One SEO Pack

This is the basic SEO plugin for WordPress blogs. It is good for beginners as well as advanced users. SEO features like page titles, meta tags, keywords and descriptions are taken care of by this plugin. All in One SEO Pack is one of the oldest and tried out and tested plugins of WordPress. The sheer number of people using this plugin speaks volumes of its usefulness.

#SEO Slugs

Stop words like ‘a’, ‘the’, ‘in’ etc in your post slugs are ignored by the search engines. These stop words has no meaning for the search engines. So if you have a post titled “How To Increase Your Page Rank”, WordPress will automatically assign a long link name to your post called a post slug like this “/How-To-Increase-Your-Page-Rank”. This SEO Slug plugin will remove the stop words like how, to, your etc from your permalink to make it more search engine friendly. With SEO Slug plugin activated your post permalink will look like this, “/Increase-Page-Rank”. This is one of the must have SEO plugins for wordpress.

#SEO Smart Links

One of the most important factors in SEO is the internal linking structure of your website. Search engines loves to see internal linking within your website. Search engines gives importance to internal linking because it shows how well structured a site is and they give reward by ranking your site higher. SEO Smart Links can automatically link keywords and phrases in your posts and comments with corresponding posts, pages, categories and tags on your blog.

#Robots Meta

Search engines will crawl and index every single search result pages, post, archives, pages of your blog by default. This is not good for SEO of your blog because this creates duplicate content and search engines may punish you for this. Robots Meta plugin tells search engines which pages to crawl and which pages to ignore. As a result of this there is no duplicate content and the search engines will respect you and rank you higher in SERP (Search Engine Results Page).

#Nofollow Case by Case

All the comments, pingbacks and trackbacks of WordPress blogs are nofollow by default. Nofollow means that search engines will not give any value to the comment links for Page Rank (PR). That means if somebody gives their website backlinks in your comment section then the backlink is not of any value since it is nofollow by default. This plugin changes the default nofollow setting into dofollow. This will attract a lot of people into your blog and encourage them to comment. This is especially good for new blogs who need traffic and exposure. According to me, this is one of the must have SEO plugins.

#SEO Friendly Images

The images of your blog also play an important role in the overall SEO of your website. Therefore it is very vital to tag your images accordingly. SEO Friendly Images plugin automatically adds Alt and Title attributes to all your images for better SEO of your website and help you to rank better in SERP (Search Engine Results Pages).

These are some of the must have SEO plugins for WordPress blogs which will help your to rank better in search engines and getting higher traffic to your blog.

Do you know the average Click-Through Rate (CTR) of the websites on the 1st page of Google search engine?

According to a study done by Optify, a leading provider of marketing software and services for the real time web, the average Click -Through Rate or CTR on the first page of Google is 8.9%. You might also think it to be a small number, right. Hold on, it doesn’t end here. If you are unlucky enough to be in the second page of Google search engine page results then your average Click-Through Rate will be a meager 1.5%. Maybe that’s the reason for all of us fighting for the numero uno spot.

And if you are lucky enough to occupy the number one spot on the first page of Google search results page then you may have 37% of Google users to click on your website link. If you are in the second spot of the search results page of Google then 12.5% Google users will click your website link. See the big difference of CTR (Click-Through Rate) between the number one and the number two positions. The CTR of the first ranked website is more than double than the second ranked website in the Google search page results.

The diagram below will give you an idea about the average Click-Through Rate of the different position on the first page of Google search engine page results. The CTR data was depicted in this diagram by Search Engine Watch.

One day you find out that the data LED of your wireless Router is constantly blinking but neither you nor the members of your family are using internet at home. This may happen if somebody from outside or one of your neighbors is enjoying the internet using your Wi-Fi network.

So how do you prevent the Wi-Fi theft of your wireless network? First of all, check if someone from outside or your neighbor is using your Wi-Fi network. To find out you must first type the router’s IP address in your browser and open the DHCP client table (it is under Status -> Local Network -> DHCP Server for Linksys routers). This will show a list of all the devices which are connected to your wireless network including those of the strangers.

If you don’t know the IP address of your Router then go to Start -> Run and enter the following command in the Run Box, “cmd /k ipconfig” without the quotes. The IP address listed under “Default Gateway” is your Router’s IP address.

You won’t be able to block the Wi-Fi signals from reaching your neighbors home but you can follow some simple steps to prevent them from using your wireless network. Some of these steps are:

1.MAC Address filtering:

All your devices like laptops, mobile phones, printers and all the gadgets have a unique MAC address. To use MAC address filtering, go to your router’s dashboard and under the Wireless MAC Filter section, add the MAC addresses of all of your known gadgets and devices. This will allow only the devices listed to access your wireless network.

2.Use password for your Wi-Fi network:

To setup a password for your wireless network go to your router’s admin dashboard and then set your wireless security mode to WPA, WPA2 or WEP. This will allow only the people who know the password to access your Wi-Fi Network.

Some of the people who are accessing your Wi-Fi network may be doing so unintentionally. They may be using your wireless network because their computer showed them an open Wi-Fi network in the area. To prevent these kinds of people from accessing your wireless network is by renaming your network name (SSID) to something scary like CityPolice or c:\virus.exe. This will surely prevent non-techie people from accessing your Wi-Fi network.
To change the network name of your wireless router, log in to your router’s admin dashboard and then rename the network under basic wireless settings.

While you are browsing Facebook you notice that some of your friends have disappeared. Say, before you had 256 friends and now suddenly you find out that you have only 251 friends. Who are those 5 friends who decided to unfriend you from their list?

Facebook won’t notify you about the names of the people who have unfriend you from their list but if you still want to know the names of your friends then there is a small web application named Twenty Feet. This small web app will help you to reveal the names of your friends who have unfriend you.

This is how it works. You connect your Facebook account with Twenty Feet and then this web app takes a note of all the Facebook profiles that are listed as your Facebook friends. This web app fetches your friend list data everyday and notifies you whenever it finds out that some of your friends are missing from your friend list.

There may be two reasons why your Facebook friend list has decreased. First, it might be that your friend has quit facebook and deactivated his or her account. Secondly, your friend might have unfriend you for some personal reason.

Apart from Facebook, you can also use Twenty Feet web app to monitor your Twitter account. Twenty Feet will alert you about your lost followers in Twitter.

Using Twenty Feet you can track one account each of Facebook and Twitter which in my mind is ok because most of us only have one account. But if you want to track more than one account then you will have to pay a yearly amount of $2.49 per account. If you need to keep track of more than one account for your business then I think this will be a nominal fee in terms of the profit that you will make.

So what is a DNS server?

DNS stands for domain name service. And the job of a DNS server is to translate the domain names of websites like www.yahoo.com into IP addresses like 69.147.76.15. And this translation is done to all the websites that you visit in your browser. And because of this reason, it doesn’t matter how fast your internet connection speed is, a website will not load unless the DNS server has done the lookup successfully.

There are several good public DNS servers that you can choose from to use in your computer. Some of the good free public DNS servers that you can use are Google DNS, OpenDNS, DNS Advantage, Norton DNS, Scrub IT etc or you can use the DNS server of your Internet Service Provider (ISP) also. If you want to find out which DNS server you are using then go to your command prompt and then type in “ipconfig/all” without the quotes. Then look for the “DNS Server” entry to find your DNS server.

DNS server speed, which is the speed at which a DNS server can convert the domain names of websites into its IP addresses, depends on its geographic location among other factors. Therefore, for example, Google DNS may be the fastest performing DNS server for a person living in place A but it might not be the fastest performing DNS server for a person living in place B.

Therefore you must first confirm the particular DNS server which works fastest in the location that you live in. There is a free utility software called DNS Benchmark which can help you to find out the fastest DNS server for your computer. This utility software will test the speed of all the popular free DNS servers from your computer and arrange them in their decreasing order of performance. You can then choose the DNS server which is the fastest among all the popular DNS servers.

DNS Benchmark works only with the Windows operating system but if you are using a different operating system like Linux or Mac then try Namebench which also performs the same work of testing the fastest DNS server for your computer.
So friends check out the DNS server which works best for your computer and enjoy happy and fast browsing.

Opera Browser is one of the best web browsers around if you have a slow internet connection. The greatest feature in Opera is that it has a built-in Turbo mode which helps you to browse the internet faster even if you have a slow internet connection. It is best suited for people who connect to the internet using slow GPRS or Dial-Up connection. Opera browser will also help you to save some money when you are using a metered internet connection, like that of a hotel room where you have to pay per byte used.

Let me help you to understand how Opera browser will speed up your internet connection. When you request for a web page using your normal browser say, bbc.com, your browser will connect directly to the bbc.com server to download all the images, text and other associated files. However in case of Opera browser, the same request is first made at the Opera servers. The web page is downloaded on the Opera servers first; the web page is then compressed and served to you.

All the contents and the layouts of the web page remains the same after compression although the quality of the images is may be reduced on some occasions. But this is not a bad sacrifice to make to increase the speed of your internet connection. And since your browser now has to download lesser number of bytes for the same web page, it will load a lot faster than your normal web browser.

Opera Turbo Browser using Google’s WebP

The Opera Turbo feature was first introduced in Opera Version 10. It was very success in increasing the internet speed of users using slower internet connection. With the new release of Opera Turbo Version 11.1, Opera servers are now using Google’s WebP image format instead of the standard JPEG image format, to compress the files. As a result of this, the byte size of a web page is decreased further without decreasing the visual quality of the images.
Most importantly when every byte counts, the savings that you make using Opera 11 is definitely Huge.
Therefore all the friends out there who have slow internet connection, try out Opera 11 and see if it helps.
