A 30-year-old San Francisco man was the victim of a fatal shooting in the city's Tenderloin neighborhood this morning, according to the San Francisco medical examiner's office.

Harris Fullbright was shot near the intersection of Ellis and Jones streets around 3 a.m., police said.

Officers responded and found Fullbright with gunshot wounds, and two other victims.

Fullbright was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other two victims were transported to a local hospital, police said.

Suspect information was not available.

Man arrested for allegedly shooting at officers

SAN FRANCISCO — A man shot at officers from inside his touristy hotel room in San Francisco's Marina District early this morning during a two-hour standoff, according a police sergeant.

Waddell Williams, 33, was arrested around 1 a.m. on suspicion of attempted murder for shooting at the officers, assault with a deadly weapon and illegally possessing a firearm, Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said.

Police responded to shots fired from a room in the Chelsea Motor Inn at Lombard and Webster streets around 11 p.m. When the first two officers arrived, police said Williams shot through the door at them.

The officers took cover and called for back up, Tomioka said.

He was in police custody within two hours, she said.

Williams was staying at the hotel but she did not know where he was from, how long he had been staying there or why he fired the shots.

No one was injured.

Woman Has Ankle Broken During Haight District Robbery

Victim hospitalized after being struck by baseball bat during robbery

SAN FRANCISCO — A person was hospitalized with a broken ankle after being struck by a baseball bat during a robbery in the Haight-Ashbury district last night.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was walking near the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets at 8 p.m. when the victim was hostilely approached by three black males, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Two of the suspects checked the victim’s pockets, and the third suspect demanded property, police said. While carrying out the robbery, one of the suspects took out a miniature baseball bat and hit the victim in the ankle, causing the bone to break, police said.

After taking the victim’s property, the three suspects fled on foot. Police said the three men were about 25 to 30 years old.

No arrests have been made, and the case is under investigation, police said. The victim was transferred to San Francisco General Hospital in stable condition.

Man beaten in S.F. drinking dispute dies

(06-26) 15:29 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- A man beaten last October in a Bernal Heights park for drinking someone else's alcohol has died, and San Francisco police are seeking help in solving the slaying.

Pierre Oliver, 43, who was attacked at 12:55 a.m. Oct. 5, died of his injuries June 8, police Lt. Mike Stasko said Friday.

Oliver was assaulted in Holly Park after he supposedly drank out of someone else's bottle, police said.

He was walking away from the dispute when a group of people, including at least one woman, beat and kicked him unconscious, Stasko said. Investigators have no detailed descriptions of the attackers.

Oliver was in a convalescent hospital in San Mateo County when he died.

The case was designated a homicide last week, Stasko said.

SF: UPDATE: MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES FOLLOWING PURSUIT ON BART TRACKS

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN)

A 27-year-old man was taken into custody this morning after running away from police on the train tracks between two BART stations in San Francisco, causing brief delays in train service, San Francisco police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.

Dion Jackson was arrested on drug charges after fleeing from San Francisco police and entering the 16th Street Mission station, where he ran away from police along the underground tracks, Williams said.

The incident caused BART to turn off power to the tracks at about 7:20 a.m. while police pursued Jackson, who was eventually arrested at the Civic Center station, according to Williams.

Trains were running through the area again at about 7:40 a.m. and BART trains were back on their regular schedule as of 9:45 a.m. after experiencing residual systemwide delays of about 20 minutes during the morning commute, a BART dispatcher said.

Man hospitalized after shooting in Western Addition

SAN FRANCISCO — A man was hospitalized after being shot last night in the Western Addition.

Officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds on the 1000 block of Golden Gate Avenue at about 11:15 p.m., according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The man was transported to a nearby medical center with unknown injuries, police said.

No one has been arrested and the case is under investigation.

San Francisco police are investigating a Monday night shooting in the city's Bayview District.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at Revere Avenue and Keith Street just past 11 p.m., police said.

Two men were with gunshot wounds were taken to San Francisco General Hospital and were expected to survive, police said.

No one was arrested, though police reported that one suspect has been identified.

(06-22) 08:45 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- A man was stabbed to death early today in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood, police said.

Douglas Johnson, 49, of San Francisco was in the passenger seat of a parked car on the 1600 block of La Salle Avenue near Third Street (links.sfgate.com/ZHLE) when a man approached him at about 12:50 a.m., authorities said.

Johnson got out of the car and spoke with the man, who stabbed him in the chest and then ran, police said. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been reported.

A drive-by shooting injured two people in San Francisco tonight, a police sergeant said.

One person was shot in the thigh and another in the ankle near Eddy and Laguna streets around 8:30 p.m., the sergeant said.

A person has been detained, but police are still investigating whether the person is a suspect, she said.

The two victims are expected to survive.

Man stabbed to death near Golden Gate Park

SAN FRANCISCO — A man was stabbed to death near Golden Gate Park early this morning, the first homicide in San Francisco in over two weeks.

Officers found the body of the man, who has not been identified, at 2:30 a.m. in the west parking lot of Kezar Stadium, on the 800 block of Stanyan Street, according to Sgt. Lyn Tomioka of the San Francisco Police Department. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Tomioka said.

No suspects have been arrested in case, which is currently under investigation, Tomioka said.

The homicide was the first in The City since May 31, when two men were killed in separate shootings.

There are now 21 recorded homicides in San Francisco in 2009. Last year at this time, there were 48 killings in The City.

One suspect arrested after shooting outside high school

SAN FRANCISCO — Three young people were treated for injuries today following an afternoon shooting outside a Potrero Hill high school.

A group of girls had just joined several boys at 1:20 p.m. outside International Studies Academy at 18th and De Haro streets, as summer classes were ending. Suddenly, five or six shots were fired into the crowd, according to witnesses.

The shots sounded like they were fired from a handgun, witnesses said.

After the shooting, teachers held the front doors of the school open while panicked students flooded inside, according to witnesses.

One suspect was arrested after the shooting and two guns were recovered, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Lyn Tomioka.

The two male victims and one female victim were young, possibly juveniles, and they were all expected to survive injuries to the lower parts of their bodies, according to Tomioka.

The victim who sustained the most serious injuries was a male in his late teens who was shot in the foot and buttocks, according to Cheeko Wells, a member of the advocacy group Brothers Against Guns, who was inside the school at the time. The boy was wearing jeans and a white T-shirt, and it was the second time in two years that he had been shot, Wells said.

Trouble often brews when students from different schools attend summer session in an unfamiliar neighborhood, he said, as was the case today. “A lot of these kids are scared,” Wells said.
Also, a female student’s leg was grazed either by a bullet or a rock. She went home and alerted her father, according to San Francisco Unified School District spokeswoman Gentle Blythe.

Both male victims are not associated with the school or with the summer session, according to Blythe.
Summer school is scheduled to resume at the campus Tuesday, Blythe said.

SF: MAN WALKS INTO FIRE STATION WITH BULLET WOUND

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN)

A man who had been shot walked into a San Francisco Fire Department station in the Diamond Heights neighborhood tonight asking for help, a fire captain said.

A police officer said the shooting was reported around 9 p.m.

The man walked into Station 26 at 80 Digby Street, the fire captain said.

He was taken to a local hospital and police took over the investigation, the captain said.

Police said no suspects were arrested.

Woman Found Dead At Ocean Beach

The San Francisco medical examiner's office this afternoon identified a woman found dead inside a vehicle at Ocean Beach early this morning as Mauvreen Zalaya, 38, of San Francisco.

Police are calling Zalaya's death suspicious, but are waiting for the results of a medical examiner's report.

Her body was found around 5:30 a.m. near Balboa Street.

According to police spokeswoman Sgt. Lyn Tomioka, she was alone in the car and there were no weapons present or any signs of trauma.

Suspects Arrested In Hunters Point Shooting

SF: THREE SUSPECTS IN BAYVIEW SHOOTING OUTSIDE BAR CHARGED WITH MURDER

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN)

Prosecutors today filed murder charges against two men and a woman arrested Sunday in connection with the early morning shooting of a San Francisco man after an argument at a bar.

Police arrested 30-year-old Deshawna Morris, and 36-year-old Sammy Frazier, both East Bay residents, and 24-year-old Timothy Walker, of San Francisco, a short time after the 2 a.m. shooting of 51-year-old Winston Coleman outside a bar in the city's Bayview district.

Coleman was found shot near the intersection of Third Street and Galvez Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The three suspects were arrested several blocks away, on Industrial Street near Bayshore Boulevard.

Police spokesman Sgt. Wilfred Williams said Coleman had gotten into a verbal argument with someone at the bar, before he was shot outside.

According to the district attorney's office, the suspects allegedly took Coleman's vehicle from the scene of the shooting. A firearm was allegedly found on Morris.

In addition to murder, all three are also facing carjacking charges, and are scheduled to be arraigned in San Francisco Superior Court Wednesday morning.

Tenderloin Shooting Injures Two

SF: TWO MEN SHOT NEAR U.N. PLAZA EARLY MONDAY MORNING

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN)

Two men were shot and injured near United Nations Plaza early Monday morning, a San Francisco police spokeswoman said.

The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. in the first block of Sixth Street.

Police Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said several men were walking in the area when they heard five to 10 shots fired. Two of the men, a 29-year-old and 23-year-old, were hit by gunfire.

The other men drove the victims to Oakland and flagged down a police officer, Tomioka said.

The victims were transported to Highland Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

No arrests have been made and the shooting remains under investigation.

Fatal stabbing Sunday morning in Bayview District

One man was killed and a woman seriously injured Sunday morning after the man’s son had attacked them, according to police.

The incident occurred around 10:23 a.m., at 49 Ceres Street in the Bayview District, San Francisco Police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.

Responding officers found the father dead at the home and the stepmother suffering from life-threatening stab wounds, Williams said.

The 22-year-old man is in custody for allegedly fatally stabbing his father and seriously injuring his stepmother, a police sergeant said.

The son, who allegedly left the home after the stabbing, was found at a Walgreens store several blocks from his father's house when a person atthe store called police to report the man was acting suspicious, Williams said.

When officers linked the man to the stabbing victims, they realized he was allegedly responsible for the father's death and stepmother's injuries, according to Williams.

Williams said a motive for the stabbings remains under investigation, but they appear to have stemmed from "some type of argument."

Four teens were injured in a drive-by shooting Saturday afternoon in San Francisco's Bayview-Hunter's Point neighborhood, according to the Police
Department.

The shooting was reported around 1:40 p.m. at Third Street and Kirkwood Avenue.

Police said the victims' injuries are not life threatening.

The victims are all males and at least two of them are juveniles, according to police.

As of 2:40 p.m., police were still in the area and were searching for the suspects.

Man Sentenced to Life in Prison For Murder of Social Worker

SF: MAN GETS 19 YEARS TO LIFE FOR 2005 MURDER OF SOCIAL SERVICES WORKER

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN)

A man who was fired from a San Francisco social and mental health services agency and returned to fatally shoot a case manager in 2005 was sentenced today to 19 years to life in prison.

Gregory Gray, 58, pleaded guilty in San Francisco Superior Court to second-degree murder on Feb. 26. He admitted shooting Conard House case manager Bruce Franks on May 9, 2005.

Members of Franks' family spoke at today's sentencing hearing, including his wife, Lisa Gershater Franks, who tearfully read a statement in court.

"I want to share my disgust and anger at Mr. Gray for choosing violence," she said. "As a long-time teacher in the Bayview, I spend a great deal of time teaching little ones to cope and to solve problems -- without violence."

Franks' family said he was committed to social justice, loved his family deeply, and strove to help some of the most marginalized residents of San Francisco.

"You sir, are a murderer and a thief," Gershater Franks told Gray. "You have stolen Bruce's remaining potential for helping others and improving his life and those of his son and daughter."

According to prosecutors, Gray, of San Francisco, was fired from Conard House about a year before the shooting, but was seen lurking near the agency that week.

On the morning of the killing, Gray came into the office where Franks, 49, was working alone, and during a struggle, shot Franks with a revolver, prosecutors said.

Another Conard House employee, Kalifa Coulibaly, arrived soon after and was ordered inside the office by Gray, who was now holding a shotgun.

Coulibaly and two passersby were able to disarm Gray until police arrived, but during the struggle, Coulibaly suffered a dislocated shoulder and fractured ankle. Additional shotgun and revolver ammunition were found at the scene.

Gray also pleaded guilty to battery with serious bodily injury for the injuries to Coulibaly.

"You have stolen your own potential for a better life," Gershater Franks told Gray. "Perhaps you felt hopeless, and did not know where to get help. I don't know why you did this terrible act, but I feel you will regret it for the rest of your life."

Gang Member Sentenced to 41 Years In Prison

Gang Member Gets 41 Years For Murder Of 7-Week-Old Infant, Two Teens

SAN FRANCISCO -- A former San Francisco drug gang member who had admitted to three murders including the slaying of a 7-week-old, was sentenced in federal court in the city Wednesday to 41 years and four months in prison for racketeering.

The sentence approved by U.S. District Judge William Alsup for Emil Fort, 27, was proposed in a plea bargain in March in which Fort pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy.

The guilty plea ended a trial in which Fort could have faced a rare federal death penalty if he had been convicted of the murders of a 7-week-old baby and two teenagers in 2003 and 2004.

Fort admitted to the three fatal shootings during the guilty plea, but could have faced a death penalty only if he had been convicted of slayings as separate crimes of murder in aid of racketeering.

Fort was a member of the Down Below gang, which operated in the Sunnydale housing project in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood of the city. Prosecutors said the gang sold cocaine and other drugs and protected its turf with violence and murder.

Alsup had previously said he might not accept the sentence because it was too lenient.

But he announced today he had decided to approve it because prosecutors told him they might have had trouble proving that the murders were committed as part of a racketeering or gang enterprise rather than in a personal vendetta.

The judge said, "This is a compromise. At a minimum it will keep a very dangerous man off the streets for 41 years. There was a risk that might not have happened if we had gone all the way to verdict."

Fort was the last of 12 members of the gang who were indicted in 2005 to plead guilty to various charges.

He will get credit for nearly five years served in state and federal custody since July 2004.

Man suffers life-threatening injuries during robbery in Hunters Point

SAN FRANCISCO — A man suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot multiple times while being robbed in Hunters Point last night.

The victim, a 35-year-old Hispanic male, was parked in his car on the 1500 block of Jennings Street when a teenage boy approached his vehicle at 10:10 p.m., according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The boy, who police said is between 16 and 18 years old, pulled out a gun, demanded the victim’s property, and then began kicking out the window of the victim’s car. The boy then shot the victim multiple times and fled eastbound on Quesada Avenue in a car driven by a second suspect, police said.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering from serious gun wounds. He was transferred to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No arrests has been made and the case is under investigation.

Man Shot Multiple Times In Broad Daylight In SF
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ―

San Francisco police are searching for a suspect who shot a male victim multiple times in the city's Bayview-Hunters Point District in broad daylight Saturday morning, a sergeant said.

The victim was shot in the unit block of West Point Road at about 10:15 a.m., Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

No arrests had been made by about 11:20 a.m., but police have identified the suspect, she said.
