His first shows in Sydney and Melbourne sold 10,000 tickets in less than two days with zero advertising. Common knowledge decrees that a comedian must have a TV sitcom, a hit movie or a high profile comedy album to succeed, but Russell has built a massive underground following by word of mouth, completely bypassing mainstream media outlets. For the past few years he's been selling out theatres across the US and Canada, all without ever appearing on network television in the United States. His US agents, Creative Artists Agency, calls this phenomenon 'The Legend Of Russell Peters.'

Russell has made his reputation by speaking to people that no one else is talking to. Much of his comedy speaks to immigrant communities around the world. Russell's new DVD and CD, "Outsourced," was taped before a sold out audience at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, and gives viewers and listeners an excellent overview of Russell's comedic genius. He paces the stage interacting with the audience, tossing off one-liners and engaging in impromptu dialogue with his fans. As much a humorist as a comedian, Russell doesn't really tell jokes. Rather, he uses his wry observations on the subjects of race and class to illuminate our human shortcomings with the sizzling accuracy of a well-aimed laser. "I don't put people down," Russell points out. "I want to elevate them, but in a funny way." His quick wit and ability to mimic language and accents allows Russell to create characters of all races and cultures and forge an immediate bond with his audiences, regardless of their racial and cultural background. "Outsourced" has gone Five Times Platinum in his home country of Canada.

Russell Peters
Cobb's Comedy Club
Saturday, November 14, 2009
$45.50

Since then both appreciative audiences and comedy executives have made the same observation about Mitch's rise to stardom, "It's just a matter of time." Well his time has come. After numerous spots on both the "Late Show with David Letterman" and the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" Mitch is quickly establishing himself as a comedic star. In addition to being one of the few comedians to have ever appeared on "Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist" twice, The Hollywood Reporter named Mitch as one of their best bets for future fame. Mitch is one of the most requested comedians on Sirius and XM satellite radio. See for yourself why this unique act has been earning rave reviews wherever he goes.

** Discounted tickets are available (for a limited time) at Goldstar Events.

Mitch Fatel
Punch Line Comedy Club
Saturday, November 14, 2009
$18.50-$22.50

But his rise to the top of the industry has been an interesting one.

A popular comic turned actor who started his career on-stage as a dare, funnyman Eddie Griffin's memorable supporting roles in such films as Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo have built the comedian an ever-growing fan base and a path to his first starring role in 2002's Undercover Brother.

Born in Kansas City, MO, Griffin's career began when he accepted a dare to take the stage on amateur night at a local comedy club. Soon developing a personal style reminiscent of such classic comics as Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx, Griffin gained further exposure opening for comic Andrew Dice Clay on a 22-city tour and later in a series of impromptu performances at Los Angeles' popular Comic Store.

Quickly following with performances on HBO's Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam and a Cable Ace Award-nominated special, Griffin began branching out into acting. Roles in such films as The Last Boy Scout (1991), Coneheads (1993), and Jason's Lyric (1994) soon led to a sitcom (Malcom and Eddie) in 1996, and Griffin's film appearances became more frequent. After headlining 2001's Double Take alongside Orlando Jones, Griffin earned his leading-man status, and with his role as Anton Jackson in 2002's Undercover Brother, it seemed as if Griffin had conquered not only the stage, but the silver screen as well. In addition to his comedic skills, Griffin is also a gifted dancer and choreographer.

Eddie Griffin
The Warfield
Saturday, November 14, 2009
9pm, $37.50-$45.00

Shaved, he spent two years as Edna Turnblad, Baltimore housewife and superstar, on tour and on Broadway in the smash musical adaptation of the John Waters film "Hairspray." Most recently in 2008, Bruce co-wrote "The Showgirl Must Go On" with Bette Midler which opened at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and has since received rave reviews. And in 2006 Bruce was seen on VH1's popular fitness and nutrition reality-series, "Celebrity Fit Club." Who knows what Bruce will look like for his next performance? In addition to "Hairspray," he has appeared in such legendary epics as "Ice Pirates," "Mahogany" and "The Morning After." A frequent guest on talk shows, Bruce won his Emmys for co-writing back-to-back Oscar shows with Billy Crystal. He's written 16 Oscar-casts so far, as well as a number of Tonys, Grammys, and even Emmys, although he never got an Emmy for writing an Emmy - that would be award-show incest of the lowest order. His bizarre career was documented in the film "Get Bruce!" Bruce's one-man show, "Almost Famous," tickled Off-Broadway audiences for three months and has made a number of appearances around the country. He is frequently mistaken for Brad Pitt.

As an openly gay talk radio sensation for years with a syndicated show Karel has had #1 shows on #1 stations such as KFI Los Angeles and KGO San Francisco. Karel is a radio and television personality, author and HuffingtonPost.com columnist whose Hi-NRG personality and never secretive opinions leap off the air and on to the stage, making him a favorite target of Bill O"Reilly and countless other conservatives. He's performed in over 3000 shows on radio and TV and is one of the most listened to and read openly gay men in America. He did two seasons on Spike TV's Ultimate Revenge hosted by Ryan Seacrest and took to the stage in Los Angeles in two highly acclaimed productions "Out West" and "The Second Story." He penned an award winning PSA for the GLAAD's "I Do" marriage contest and has an upcoming network comedy special. He has written and hosted several internationally televised events including the International Press Academy's Golden Satellite Awards (IPA) and as a singer has even made first round nominations in the Dance Category for Grammy. His comedy has led him to the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, the Improv and the Laugh Factory, and "Karel Stands Up" has played to sold out audiences. Over the years Karel has met and interviewed countless celebrities, and one of his favorites is Bruce Vilanche; so the pairing of the two is a natural.

Bruce Vilanch & Karel
Cobb's Comedy Club
Thursday, November 19, 2009
8pm, $20.50

"Things We Made" is a comedy show that presents a salad of wit, characters, videos, illustrations, movement and music. It's an atmosphere to share unconventional and often brilliant creations. Patrick Bulger and Jesse Fernandez host this monthly conduit of San Francisco's original and delectable humor.

"Things We Made" was featured in the 2008 and 2009 San Francisco Sketchfests, The 2009 Sacramento AllSketch Festival, was runner-up in the 2009 National College Funny Film Competition, and its performers have been seen in The Boston Comedy Competition, Comedy Central's "Open Mic Fights," Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham," The San Francisco International Comedy Competition, The US Air Guitar National Championship, and Montreal's "Just for Laughs" comedy festival.

This month's guests:

RANDY LIEDTKE will be Skyping in from his home in LA. Randy Just finished up with the Pabst Blue Ribbon Comedy Tour, he's been on G4 a number of times (mostly as a shirtless fat guy), and he was a finalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition.

RACHEL MCDOWELL is a Pittsburgh Pennsylvania native and a regular at the Pittsburgh Improv. She has performed in states all over America. Rachel shares her unique and adorable perspectives on culture, relationships, and laughing in a way that both sexes and all ages enjoy.

BRAD MEYERS came up with the idea of turning 7elevens into Kwik-E-Marts to promote The Simpsons Movie. Seriously, he actually orchestrated a bunch of 7elevens being turned into Kwik-E-Marts in preparation for the movie. He's a hilarious guy, and a good friend of ours.

JOEY DEVINE is star of the San Francisco-based, weekly late night talk show "Joey Devine: After Dark," and it really is amazing. Probably a big contributor to the show's success is the fact that you can't not like Joey. There's something in his very being or some aura he emits that makes it impossible to not find him adorable. As a Semi-finalist in the Bay Area Laugh leader competition, he's no slouch in comedy either. We love him.

Things We Made
The Dark Room
Saturday, November 21, 2009
Time: 10:00pm

The twisted talk show will run the last Sunday of every month, and each month will have a different theme.

Joining Howard for this twisted send up of talk show will be the Danny Dechi Orchestra, the most unique one man band you'll ever see or hear. Also on hand will be comedian and award winning film maker Kurt Weitzmann, serving up some laughs and judgment.

SFWeekly:

"The interview segments on The Daily Show really drag -- if only Jon Stewart would take a leaf from Howard Stone's book and ruthlessly mock guests rather than ask softball questions. Sir Stone has been plugging away with his uproarious live gig, The Howard Stone Show, for years, yet he doesn't pull in the accolades he deserves for such fun segments as "Mixed Nuts" (a lineup of damaged comics discussing their problems with ADD and bipolar disorder) and "Iron Balloon Chef" (in which clowns battle it out for balloon-twisting supremacy). Tonight's "Bitter Show" is a welcome release from holiday cheer. One-man orchestra Danny Dechi might include cracked Christmas carols in the repertoire he plays by whapping himself in the jaw with a No. 2 pencil."

The Howard Stone Comedy Variety Talk Show with the Danny Dechi Orchestra!
SF Playhouse
Sunday, November 29, 2009
8:30PM, $10

Sunday, December 27, 2009
8:30PM, $10

He made audiences question their notions of vanity playing the sensitive bouncer in Knocked Up, kept them glued to their seats as one of the henchman hunting Seth Rogen and James Franco's bumbling stoner characters in Pineapple Express, and shocked them silly at the end of Fanboys as the surprise guest playing a THX Security Guard on site at Lucas Ranch.

The past year was also busy, with Robinson turning in a hilarious cameo in Night At the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, appearing in an episode of the HBO series "East Bound & Down," and starring in several comedies including Miss March and The Goods with Jeremy Piven. Last fall he also co-starred in Zack and Miri Make a Porno. In March of next year, Robinson will lead in his first film, co-starring in the MGM laugher Hot Tub Time Machine with Rob Corddry and John Cusack. In addition to film, Robinson has also performed on "The Jimmy Kimmel Show," "Real Time with Bill Maher, "Friends," "The Bernie Mac Show" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Now headlining venues and festivals across the country, he does both solo acts as well as full-band sets, tying together his lyrical comedy and his finesse at the keyboard.

Also appearing is Natasha Leggero, who recently appeared in the movie "He's Just Not That Into You." Her stand-up performances include appearances on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," "The Comedy Factory" on Dutch television and two appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Natasha has played various deviants in her three-year recurring stint on Comedy Central's "Reno 911." She has also reoccurred on Fox's "Til Death," is a regular panelist on "Chelsea Lately," and was the star of MTV's hit series "The 70's House." She has guest-starred on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," "Samantha Who," "Aqua Teen Hunger Force," "Worst Week" and most recently "The Sarah Silverman Program."

The New Year's Eve shows will also feature special guest Al Madrigal, who recently starred in the CBS comedy "Gary Umarried" with Jay Mohr and as "Jesus" alongside Jeffrey Tambor and Raquel Welch in the CBS show "Welcome to The Captain." He has also appeared on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Chelsea Lately," and had his own Comedy Central Presents special.

Craig Robinson
Cobb's Comedy Club
Thursday, December 31, 2009
7pm: $35.50, 9pm: $50.50
