We know it’s gorgeous, you know it’s gorgeous and now the design of the new Ford Fiesta has been recognised and claimed the ‘red dot’ award for international product design. 

An annually-presented awards ceremony from one of the world’s largest design recognition programmes “Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westflaen,” the red dot awards saw some 3321 submissions from 49 countries around the world. 

Executive Design Director at Ford, Martin Smith said that “it is particualarly encouraging to see that our new small car was singled out for its innovative, expressive design by some o fthe world’s leading designers.” 

Each of the submissions for the awards are judged by an independent jury against a series of criteria that includes innovation, design, funcionality and quality. The awards are split into 3 catergories – product design, communication design and design concept – with a further 17 product areas within each category. 

The new Ford Fiesta was judged to be “one of the most stylish cars in the world,” and was noted for its “innovative and dynamic” design. 

The red dot award joins a growing list of accolades awarded to the Fiesta including Car of the Year 2009 by What Car?
