NEW DELHI: Japan's top automaker Toyota Motor Corp has announced its plans to introduce eight compact car models especially designed for emerging markets by 2015 in an attempt to catch up to front-runners such as Volkswagen AG and General Motors Co.

Net profit of TVS Motor rises 31% in Mar quarter

NEW DELHI: TVS Motor has registered 31% jump in its net profit to Rs 57.23 crore during the March quarter of 2012. The overall income slipped to Rs 1,627 crore during the fourth quarter to Rs 1,635 crore during the previous corresponding quarter.

For the year ended March 31, 2012, the profit after tax slipped 28% to Rs 249.07 crore. The net revenue rose 13% to Rs 7,126 crore.

Ford India's President and MD Michael Boneham said, “We expect the market environment to be difficult. I don't forsee an upturn in the market till the festive season. We expect a 10 percent growth over next couple of months. The market is expected to pick during festive season.”

CHENNAI: Rane Madras, an auto component manufacturer, has registered 50% jump during the March quarter net profit of Rs 7.48 crore. The Rane group company's income for the March quarter jumped 13% to Rs 181 crore.

For the year ended March 31, 2012, the firm's net profit rose 12% at Rs 27.4 crore and the income jumped 15% to Rs 670 crore as compared to the previous year.

Apollo Tyres set to raise output in South Africa

NEW DELHI: Apollo Tyres has stated that its production at its two units in South Africa will be risen after the commissioning of a new component preparation facility established there at about Rs 200-crore investment.

Last week, the new component preparation unit at the Ladysmith tyre manufacturing facility in South Africa was inaugurated.
