The Thrifty Food Plan (TFP) determines the allotment for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. The TFP is the least expensive of the 4 US government food plans. The TFP was last revised in 2006 to “provide a representative healthful and minimal cost meal plan that shows how a nutritious diet may be achieved with limited resources” (p. ES-1).1 The TFP assumes all purchased foods are consumed at home and is based on the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.2

SNEB Statement Against the Shootings Targeting Asians in the Atlanta Area
We are deeply saddened and troubled by the hate crimes against Asian Americans. This week, we witnessed targeted and horrific shootings in the Atlanta-area against Asian Americans. As an organization, the Society of Nutrition Education and Behavior is striving to become an anti-racist and multicultural organization. We do not tolerate hate and discrimination of any kind. Our Board of Directors has a strong commitment to equity and inclusion and works to disrupt all forms of systemic racism. We stand in solidarity with Asians and Asian Americans to demand justice.

Today, I think we will continue to have COVID-related manuscripts for quite a while yet. Some of our articles have highlighted the associated food insecurity while others reflect our creativity in times of crisis.
