Heyo! It’s been awhile folks but this time I’m recommending a spin-off based on a classic manga! I’m sure we have all heard of Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac)! The once popular 20+yr old manga inspired many of this generation’s most popular mangas such as “Bleach”!!

Anyways Saint Seiya is mostly about Olympian Gods battling for the control of Earth with Athena (Goddess of Wisdom) as the guardian of Earth. She leads a human army called Saints based on the Constellations (including the Zodiac) and defends Earth against such Gods as Poseidon and her nemesis Hades.

The Lost Canvas is set 200years prior the canon storyline and it talks about how the lives of 3 childhood best friends changed forever as destiny took an unsuspected turn. Or rather, a “cliche” turn and 1 of them grew up to be the Pegasus Saint, the other became Goddess Athena and the last and purest soul of all was “hand picked” and possessed by Hades! So 2 childhood friends are forced to battle the 3rd one and it starts off from there!

Whats different between the original Seiya and this spin-off?! The graphics! The anime really sets the difference apart and showed us what 20 years of technology could do! The the battle scenes are just amazinglybeautiful lol! And Athena got way hotter! Hell, the Saints (All male Soldiers) are hot too lol! So yea watch the anime, it’s worth your while!!:D Especially if you are interested in Greek myths and legends and Constellations and what not!! (Even though a lot of references are based on actual Greek God myths. But things like Athena vsing Hades is obviously fake:D)

Hey everyone, its Dom again!

Today’s review will be on a long time favourite, Claymore. Claymore is a dark fantasy manga set in a unnamed fictitious world inhabited by monsters called Yoma and humans. The story follows the character Clare, a claymore who is sent on missions to hunt these monsters down by an organisation shrouded in mystery.

Plot :

The plot of Claymore centres around Clare, the lowest ranking Claymore. Claymores are hired warriors who eliminates yomas. Though not officially called claymores by themselves, the people living in this world coined the name based on the large sword each warrior carries. To this date, a claymore has always been a female. Each claymore receives their orders from the Organhisation, which will lead Clare onto her journey unlike any other.

The main plot follows Clare and her relationship with Rafi, a young boy who she saved on one of her missions. Whilst travelling with Rafi, it is revealed of Clare’s dark past and her single goal and the reason why she became a claymore which leads us into a world of loss, horror and betrayal.

Conclusion :

However, without spoiling anything, Claymore goes deep into a world of darkness. The themes which Nirohiro Yagi emphasises may seem quite emo, but from these bleak issues comes hope and to the belief to die fighting. All in all though, Claymore is a great read with an interesting plot that I just can’t say…you so gotta read it.

Anyways lovelove guys and enjoy yourself!

Hihi everyone~~ my first anime review O.O ==>> will be on Bleach th 3rd movie“` enjoy!~

Overview
“Fade to Black 君の名を呼ぶ” is the third bleach movie released on December 13, 2008 one year after the second movie. Directed by Noriyuki Abe, the theme song “Koyoi, Tsuki wa Miezu Tomo” was performed by Porno Graffiti. The story line revolves around Kuchiki Rukia who is one of the main characters of the bleach series with the plot expanding on her past in rukongai before her life in the main series took place.

The story begins with Mayuri Kurotsuchi’s break down in his research institution after being attacked by a scythe-like weapon. The intruders (two mysterious characters) proceeded with their invasion drowning soul society in a white liquid like substance. At the same time capturing Rukia who has just returned from the real world during the havoc. The duo ended up erasing all her memories…along with her existence. If all ended here, then soul society may have regained peace for a little longer. However, the real problem arises when Ichigo (the main protagonist of the series) makes his way into soul society after sensing Rukia in danger. Upon realizing that no one remembers him or Rukia and even assumes him to be the intruder, he makes his way through seireitei been forced to confront all his friends and comrades in order to save Rukia, only to find a part of her hidden past that even she herself has forgotten.

Review
There’s no doubt that the central theme of this movie is about friendship and bonds. While the plot of the movie is not on par with the series, its main theme integrates the past and the present, emphasizing on the bonds between the characters. This allowed us to witness the development and strength of those bonds throughout the entire movie by depicting the few people who truly cared about Rukia and their inner struggles to grasp her existence when their memories failed them. I feel that Abe was very wise to choose Rukia as the central character for this movie as she often portrays herself as somewhat distant to her peers in terms of emotion and affection. Hence the plot was designed perfectly in order to see her in another light.
Similar to the previous Bleach movies, I was a bit let down by the fact that Ichigo tries to save the day as the main protagonist as it does become banal after a few shows. Despite this, the action that led to the climax of the movie was the highlight for me as it really demonstrated the power and co-ordination of the Gotei 13 (plus a bonus appearance from someone residing in the human world). Overall, for all bleach fans (or just anime fans) out there, do definitely check it out as it is a touching and emotional movie with a decent plot and a lot more that could be covered by this review.

This time it’s Ghost in the Shell! (The 1995 movie)!

In this Sci-fi world most humans are built/enhanced with robotic parts and their brains are referred to as “Ghosts”. However there is a hacker out there that erases these “Ghosts” and takes control over the “Soul-less” bodies. The story centers on a FBI equivalent Captain Motoko Kusanagi and her journey of tracking down the hacker which subsequently led to the unfolding of a huge government conspiracy.

What can I say? But action, action, and MORE ACTION! Being robotic for the most part, Captain Motoko can fight better than Jackie Chan! She even battles a tank in the movie!! Also worth mentioning is that she turns invisible by first taking ALL her clothes off! Winks! As if that’s not reason enough to watch the film already, “Ghost in the Shell” also delivers many underlying important messages. The message I received from the film is that there may be a possibility that sentience exists in everything, whether the thing is technically alive or not.

Watch it! And be compelled by the film’s complex storyline. Also because of the ambiguity of its ending, everyone will have different take-home messages! Cheers!

By the way, Sniffs* anyone smell Akira?;)

How bout write your own review and we’ll post it up to SN:Anime with all accreditation to their owner of course. This is an opportunity for us at SN to know what sort of things you guys like. Just post a comment and who knows? Magic could happen. I got an upcoming exam, so I shouldn’t won’t be able to post up another review. I’ll get one done quickly afterwards though.

Overview

Hayao Miyazaki’s 1986 classic anime movie Laputa: Castle In The Sky (天空の城ラピュタ) follows the adventures of a young girl called Sheeta, an orphan who was held captive by Muska at the very start of the film. Due to Sheeta’s knowledge of Laputa and possession of the precious levitation stone, she was being pursued by the military which was lead by Muska and a band of pirates lead by Dola. Pazu, whom saved Sheeta from the initial escape became an unlikely companion for Sheeta. With the pirates and the military on their tail, Sheeta and Pazu find themselves in all sort of trouble as they make their way to find the lost island of Laputa.

Review

Straight off the bat, Miyazaki has done everything right in terms of the storyline and the settings. At the very start of the film (even with the intro scene), we were immediately taken into this surreal realm. Characters were well established, without giving too much away at the start of the movie Miyazaki has made it interesting and it definitely kept me guessing throughout.

Being the very first anime movie I have seen, Laputa: Castle In The Sky has everything in it from action, humor, love, conspiracy and betrayal. The version I watched was an English dub, I have to say the synchronisation with the sound and the character’s mouth movement was slightly off but its bearable. In terms of video quality, although the graphic was a let down, knowing its made in the 1980’s, its still a pretty impressive quality for its time.

I haven’t seen any other works of Miyazaki, so I am unavailable to make a comparison with some of his other works. But overall this is a great movie, Miyazaki has done wonders with the storytelling in the film added with great entertainment value this movie is definitely a must see for all hardcore anime fans and noobies like myself.
