When it comes to the title GOAT (Greatest of all Time) in basketball, I believe this refers to these two players: Michael Jordan and Lebron James. As I tried to researched on this one, my guess is as right as that of other people thus let us stick to these two as GOAT in basketball.

Health is wealth and this is exactly very true to athletes in all events. Players on different fields are considered very lucky especially for those of 5 star quality since they receive huge pays plus many perks. And when bad luck happen most notably through injury, that's the worse that any player also could imagine.

This is the story of the very talented Derrick Rose. He was awarded the prestigious Rookie of the Year award while playing for the Chicago Bulls and he also had the record of the youngest ever player to win the NBA MVP award. But who is Derrick Rose?

He was born on Oct. 4, 1988 in Chicago. While he and his three siblings were raised only by his mother, Derrick started to develop his likings to basketball through the influence of his brothers. He studied at Simeon Career Academy. And on his first year playing for their basketball team, he averaged 18.5 points thus resulting on him helping the team to have a 24-1 record. 2006-2007, he led the team to 2 championships and he was chosen as Illinois Mister Basketball.

After high school , he received a scholarship from University of Memphis and he joined the basketball team wherein they had the record of winning 26 straight games. Due to his contributions, they reached the championship but lost to Kansas. After the season, he decided to join the NBA draft and fortunately, he was picked in the first round by the Chicago Bulls. On his rookie year, he averaged 17 points and 6.3 assists. On this first year, they reached the playoff but lost to the defending champion -the Boston Celtics. Though they lost, he attracted the attention of so many basketball fans since he equalled the record of Kareem Abdul Jabaar on getting the most points on a playoff game.

Due to this enormous contributions, he won the Rookie of the Year Award. On 2009-2010 season his second year in the league, he suffered an ankle injury and he missed months of playing. Luckily in January 2010, he returned to the line-ip averaging 25 points plus 6 assists. On the following season, 2010-2011 season, his big break came when he at 22, dominated the NBA with 25 points plus 7.7 assists average per game helping the Bulls achieved a 62-20 record. As a result, he was chosen as the league's MVP - the youngest player ever to win the prestigious award. on the next season, 2011-2012, Bulls enjoyed the magnificent performance from Rose who averaged 22 points and 6 assists. Thus tye decided to give Rose a 5 year $94 million contract.

However, on April 28, 2012, 1st round of the playoffs and against the Philadelpia Sixers and 12 points ahead, Rose penetrated the hoop and suffered an ACL on his left knee. With that incident, the fans had witnessed Rose's worst injury that destroyed his promising career. Season 2012-2013 came, he didn't play as a result of his injury. On October 5, 2013, Rose came back to the Bulls' line up but after playing for only one month, he suffered another injury. that resulted of him missing playing for the whole season.

2015-2016 season, he played for 66 regular games but unfortunately the team fell short and did not reach the playoff. As a result, he was traded to New York Knick on June 23, 2016. 2016-2017 season, he slowly regained his health but in April 2, 2017, he needed a surgery for his left knee that made him to rest for 8 weeks. Consequently he was not offered another contract. He was traded to Cleveland Cavaliers. On November 7, 2017, he suffered another injury. With this incident, all his previous injuries came back to his mind and he was thinking of retiring from the game definitely. Sad to note though that from 2012-2017, he already suffered 32 injuries. Finally, last February 25, 2022, he underwent another procedure to check his skin infection and due to this, he was ruled out indefinitely.

Knowing all these misfortunes by Derrick Rose, we can all say that indeed, health is wealth however, there also could be times that things will not go smoothly as we want them to be.

Height is might- a very true statement especially in the world of basketball. And one prospect on this game who has this gift is Kai Sotto- a Filipino prospect who is considered as. a great talent and a great prospect in the world of basketball.

But who is Kai Sotto? Kai comes from Las Pinas, Philippines. He is listed as 7'1 indeed a very tall player in the world of basketball. On a news last April 1, 2021, it was then announced that his services is taken by the Adelaide Sixers of the National Basketball League based in Australia. And to think that NBL is one of the best leagues of basketball in the whole world meaning that Kai will be given the tools to improve and learn all those stuffs that will make him great on this game.

Today marks as one of the dark days of sports since this day, Kobe Bryant, the Black Mamba, died on a helicopter crash near Calabasas, California. Considered as one of NBA's legends together with the likes of Michael Jordan, he was instrumental in bringing his team, Los Angeles Lakers to several championships.

When he joined the league in the year 1996, he was together with the more known Larry Drew and Michael Cooper at that time. " He debuted in the Summer Pro League in Long Beach California scoring 25 points in a standing room only crowd. He scored 36 points in the finale and finished with averages of 24.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in four games.

The world of sports nowadays is very much alive with all its latest happening. Whatever your sports inclination is and either you are an active follower of a certain discipline or a mere spectator, there are lots of reasons to feel excited on what is going on in the sports world.

Any avid sports fan should look forward to some interesting developments in the world of sports both here in Australia and in the whole world. This is one facet of life that never runs out of excitement. Whatever field of sports that you have chosen, there are always some interesting events in the near future, soon or later.

In the world of footy, the famous Australian football is now on its mid year season and all the teams are trying their very best to stay in contention. Hence the goal of winning is constantly the primary one in every schedule that they have. As of today, the leading teams are the following: Adelaide Crows, Brisbane Lions, Geelong Cats, Western Bulldog and Melbourne.

While the rest of the teams are busy preparing their members for the coming schedules, these teams on the lead would never put down their guard so that they can improve or maintain their present standing.

Meanwhile in the world of boxing, one exciting coming huge boxing event is the scheduled match between the heavily favoured champion Manny Pacquaio against the Brisbane boxer Jeff Horn. While those boxing aficionados have set their eyes on the much known boxer Manny yet the odds are not against the little known Brisbane boxer for nobody exactly knows what will happen inside the ring. The world of sports is composed of so many facets. And one of those is its similarity to a coin- it is composed of two parts- positive and negative. Any sport's goal is constantly achieving the winning side. Hence giving one's 100% performance in any sport is a must. No second level or lopsided performance but rather, everything should be aiming for the best.

On the other hand, losing in any competition is the other side of the coin, desolation, downhearted, heartbroken, and others are but the same of the negative consequences of any loss. Sometimes, a player could ask himself, " What went wrong with my performance? How did it happen when in fact, I have given my best shot?"

Other questions could come up in one's mind yet at the very end, this unfortunate result could be a blessing in disguise most notably when one says to himself, "I need to see the positive effects of this loss." That instead of blaming oneself or the worse, blaming others,

One of the most awaited sporting events in Australia and in the whole world is the Australian Open. From Wikipedia, " the 2017 Australian Open is a tennis tournament that is taking place at Melbourne Park between 16-29 January 2017. It is the 105th edition of the Australian Open, and the first Grand Slam Tournament of the year. The tournament consists of events for professional players in singles, doubles and mixed doubles play. Junior and wheelchair players complete in singles and doubles tournaments."

And just like in any kind of sports, unknown players stood up while some known ones failed to qualify to the next round. On the other hand, all Australian male players are gone and not a lucky year for the Australians as nobody among the guys stay behind to claim a higher spot for this year's event.

Some of those who bowed out already are Novak Djokovic, as he was upset by Denis Istomin and the Australian promising players Bernard Tomic and Nick Kyrgios. Then on the positive side, those who marched forward are the following: big names like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Venus Williams and the like. Thus, continue to watch the ongoing matches at the Australian Open as they unfold each single day.

One of the most talked sports of all time is the world of boxing. And for 2016, here are some of the most interesting fighters this year has produced and who continued to dominate the sports.

1. Gennady "GGG" Golovkin- he is one of those famous fighters in the middleweight division. All throughout his career, Golovkin has been dominating all his opponents either by scoring on a knockout or scoring a win by points. A few of those names mentioned as his most probable opponents are Canelo Alvarez, Billy Joe Saunders, James Degale, Danny Jacobs, and Sergey Kovalev.

2. Roman Gonzales- another interesting fighter who has come out as phenomenal this year is Gonzalez. He is considered as a favourite against his next opponent McWilliams Arroyo. His illustrious career is considered as dominating as that of Triple G and much expectations are put on his coming fights.

3. Andre Ward- the top fighter in the light heavyweight division and his success in overpowering such opponents as Sullivan Barrera just proved that he really is a dominant fighter on this division. So much expectations are placed on this fighter and many are excited to witness him on his coming fights.

4. Sergey Kovalev- his overwhelming victory against opponents such as the recent one, Jean Pascal, for the second time in less than a year. And it was noted that it was just the notable Bernard Hopkins who went the distance with him. His power and technique always dominate his opponents.

5. Canelo Alvarez- his overwhelming victories over such opponents as Miguel Cotto and Amir Khan just showed his dominance and power. he is still considered as a young and precious fighter and many are hopeful to watch his upcoming events and among those who are eyed to be his opponents are Genady Golovkn and more surprised names.

6. Manny Pacquiao- back from his recent triumph over the known flashy fighter Jesse Vargas, Pacquiao is said to be back in timing and power. His recent retirement did not last long and now he is back on the ring again.

There are those other names worthy to mention but I would just limit my names on these following fighters above. The world of boxing is waiting for more interesting fights for year 2017.

Nearing to the end of this year, several spectacular events have happened in the world of sports both positive and negative. Young guns have emerged and old great ones have ended their reign of their thrones held for such a long time.

Sharing with you then some of those memorable milestones on this sporting world. One of the scandals that rocked the world of sports is in the game of soccer when FIFA suspended seven of its officials on the charge of bribery by taking some illegal money to favour certain people that went back as far as 1990s.

On the lighter side, victors emerged and sweeter at this time especially for the Kansas City Royals for winning the World Series and what made it so sweet for all of them and their fans is the fact that this is their first time in 30 years. In the world of boxing, the biggest name and winner is Floyd Mayweather who recently won his mega fight with the equally popular Manny Pacquiao in a unanimous decision bout.

In the world of tennis, Novak Djokovic continued his dominance of this sports at this stage as he gathered wins in various tournaments this year. On the distaff side, it is Serena Williams who emerged as the most triumphant among the players as she gathered wins in the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon that allows her to gather as her achievement 21 majors and still counting.

Philippines will continue to be one of those countries which will be known due to its list of hard hitting and excellent boxers. To name some famous ones, you can hear the names of the most popular during this era, the world known slugger Manny Pacquiao, Nonito Donaire, Brian Villoria etc.. However, looking forward to the present young batch of Philippine boxers, there are some names worthy to mention. Among this batch, I would like to share with you three names which came out as very promising and hopeful of also becoming great in the near future.

These three boxers are still on their prime and if given the right direction as well as the opportunity to hit big time, I believe that they have a big chance to make it. These three are the Pagara brothers, known for their hard hitting and aggressive stances and the well rounded young boxer Mark Magsayo.

1. Jason Pagara- he is the older brother between the Pagara brothers. With his father, Reynaldo, as his source of encouragement and with his strong following of the likes of Manny Pacquaio and older ALA Stable boxers AJ Banal and Boom Boom Bautista, he started boxing at an early age, 8 yrs. old. He prided himself with his record of 37 wins with 23 knock outs and 2 defeats at the hands of Filipino boxer Rey Anton Olarte in 2007 and Mexican boxer Rosbel Montoya. His defeat with Montoya was vindicated when he demolished him in their return fight winning the bout in the 6th round. His latest triumph was just last month on their first US debut (ALA Boxing stable). In front of a huge US crowd and Pinoy fans, he showed his brilliance in the ring by sending his opponent, Nicaraguan Santos Buenavides, to the canvass several times.

2. Albert Pagara- nicknamed as the Prince, Albert is the second of the popular Pagara boxers in ALA Boxing Stables. His present record of 25 wins (18 by knockouts) with 0 defeat is indeed a very promising one. He is well known for his very powerful right hand though his left hand is also touted as equally powerful. His latest stint was in Dubai World Trade Center when he masterfully defeated Mexican opponent, Jesus Rios on the very first round.

Mark Magsayo- although considered by many as still a novice on the professional level of boxing but he already made some news with his outstanding stoppages with the likes of John Rey Melligen, Ernesto Tata Fontanilla, and the visiting Korean boxer Moon Sun Jung. He won all his fights in such a masterful fashion that many are predicting a bright future ahead of him.

Philippines would never run out of promising and talented fighters and it is such a pleasure to know a few of them through those mentioned beforehand. Still, as they continue to search for that big time glory, there is still a long way to go for these three talented ALA Stable boxers.

Been a while and it is good to update ourselves with what is going on in the world of sports around us. Everyday more and more interesting accomplishments are coming out in this discipline. Allow me to share with you some of this exciting events on different parts of the world.

First, in the world of tennis, there was a climate of awe in the recent shocking loss of Serena Williams in the hands of the unheralded Italian player Roberta Vinci. Consequently, the dream of Serena Williams to secure a spot on claiming the Grand Slam for this year is gone. The win was considered by many as a major outset especially on the tennis career of Serena William.

Meanwhile, on the men's side, it will be another dream match for Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic as they will clash for the men's finals. They made magnanimous impact on their recent triumphs prior to this finals meeting. Federer made a deserving win over his longtime pal and Davis Cup teammate Stan Wawrinka. On the other hand, Djokovic was the lucky one in his match against the equally talented and defending champion Martin Cilic. Hence, may the best man win on this epic Finals match between these two great warriors on the court.

Finally, on the magnificent world of boxing, there is less expectation and brouhaha on the coming bout between the current world champion Floyd Mayweather against Andre Berto. That in spite of all the accomplished publicities coming from the parties of both sides. What came about as of this date is a little bit surprising especially to the diehard followers of both camps.

The Roaring Bulldogs

We had the great experience yesterday to watch the thrashing victory of the home court team, the Western Bulldogs against the visiting team, Port Adelaide. At the start of the game though, it was the Port which was leading the game. However, after just a few minutes that lapsed, the Bulldogs started to show their dominance over the Port.

The leading scorers for the Bulldogs were Jake Stringer with 4 goals, Redpath also contributed a significant number of goals same as Crameri and Dickson while on the side of the Port, it was Schulz with 2 goals, and Wingard with the same output.

Such an amazing performance of the Dogs that now they are sort of pronouncing it to the rest of the league that they're back. On the previous competitions such as last year, they did not perform that well but this year, they are making it good that they now occupy one of the top spots in the league.

Congratulations to the whole Bulldogs team and better luck next time for the Port.
