]]> Savannah State University National Alumni Association Metro Atlanta Chapter Awards Program https://www.ssunaa.com/chapters/metroatlanta/?p=15 https://www.ssunaa.com/chapters/metroatlanta/?p=15#respond Fri, 28 Sep 2012 00:08:55 +0000 https://ssunaa.com/chapters/metroatlanta/?p=15 ATLANTA – The Savannah State University National Alumni Association Metro Atlanta Chapter will hold a Chapter Awards Program at the Sigma Zeta Foundation House in East Point, Ga. on Saturday, August 4 at 1 pm, to recognize the chapter’s past presidents and the 2010 – 2012 chapter officers and committee chairpersons. The last surviving chapter chartering member, Ms. Zora Gainey, will also be honored at this event.

“As this chapter reflects on its 52 years of existence, a debt of gratitude is in order for those who led the way,” said Kenneth Dandy, the current Metro Atlanta chapter president.  “Those who took the initiative to charter this chapter, and those who unselfishly devoted their time to lead its administration – there have been many chapter presidents, living and deceased, whose vision proved bold enough to lead us and whose shoulders were broad enough to hold us.”

The chapter will honor living past chapter presidents Thomas J. Locke, John W. Arnold, Arthur J. Terry, Barbara Mobley, Ruby Williams, Robert Brown, Sammy White, Birnell Hatcher, Jeff Dinkins, and April Dobbs. The chapter’s annual Atlanta Falcons tickets giveaway drawing will also take place during the program.

The Sigma Zeta Foundation House is located at 2526 Delowe Drive in East Point.
