Are We Living in a Computer Simulation

SCIENCE has revealed much about the world and our position within it. Generally, the findings have been humbling. The Earth is not the centre of the universe. Our species descended from brutes. We are made of the same stuff as mud. We are moved by neurophysiological signals and subject to a variety of biological, psychological and sociological influences over which we have limited control and little understanding. One of our remaining sources of pride is technological progress. Like the polyps that over time create coral reefs, the many generations of humans that have come before us have built up a vast technological infrastructure. Our habitat is now largely one of human making. The fact of technological progress is also in a sense humbling. It suggests that the most advanced technology we have today is extremely limited and primitive compared with what our descendants will have. If we extrapolate these expected technological advances, and think through some of their logical implications, we arrive at another humbling conclusion: the “simulation argument”, which has caused some stir since I published it three years ago. The formal version of the argument requires some probability theory, but the underlying idea can be grasped without mathematics. It starts with the assumption that future civilisa- tions will have enough computing power and programming skills to be able to create what I call “ancestor simulations”. These would be detailed simulations of the simulators’ predecessors – detailed enough for the simulated minds to be conscious and have the same kinds of experiences we have. Think of an ancestor simulation as a very realistic virtual reality environment, but one where the brains inhabiting the world are themselves part of the simulation. The simulation argument makes no assumption about how long it will take to develop this capacity. Some futurologists think it will happen within the next 50 years. But even if it takes10 million years, it makes no difference to the argument. Let me state what the conclusion of the argument is. The conclusion is that at least one of the following three propositions must be true: 1 Almost all civilisations at our level of development become extinct before becoming technologically mature. 2 The fraction of technologically mature civilisations that are interested in creating ancestor simulations is almost zero. 3 You are almost certainly living in a computer simulation. How do we reach this conclusion? Suppose first that the first proposition is false. Then a significant fraction of civilisations at our level of develop- ment eventually become technologi- cally mature. Suppose, too, that the second proposition is false. Then a significant fraction of these civilisa- do we live in a computer simulation?

Therefore, if both one and two are false, there will be simulated minds like ours. If we work out the numbers, we find that there would be vastly many more simulated minds than non- simulated minds. We assume that technologically mature civilisations would have access to enormous amounts of computing power. So enormous, in fact, that by devoting even a tiny fraction to ancestor simulations, they would be able to implement billions of simulations, each containing as many people as have ever existed. In other words, almost all minds like yours would be simulated. Therefore, by a very weak principle of indifference, you would have to assume that you are probably one of these simulated minds rather than one of the ones that are not simulated. Hence, if you think that propositions one and two are both false, you should accept the third. It is not coherent to reject all three. It should be emphasised that the simulation argument does not show that you are living in a simulation. The conclusion is simply that at least one of the three propositions is true. It does not tell us which one. In reality, we don’t have much specific information to tell us which of the three propositions might be true. In this situation, it might be reasonable to distribute our credence roughly evenly between them. Let us consider the options in a little more detail. Proposition one is straightforward. For example, maybe there is some technology that every advanced civilisation eventually develops and which then destroys them. Let us hope this is not the case. Proposition two requires that there is a strong convergence among all advanced civilisations, such that almost none of them are interested in running ancestor simulations. One can imagine various reasons that may lead civilisations to make this choice.

Yet for proposition two to be true, virtually all civilisations would have to refrain. If this were true, it would be an interesting constraint on the future evolution of intelligent life. The third possibility is philosophi- cally the most intriguing. If it is correct, you are almost certainly living in a computer simulation that was created by some advanced civilisation. What Copernicus and Darwin and latter-day scientists have been discovering are the laws and workings of the simulated reality. These laws might or might not be identical to those operating at the more fundamental level of reality where the computer that is running our simulation exists (which, of course, may itself be a simulation). In a way, our place in the world would be even humbler than we thought. What kind of implications would this have? How should it change the way you live your life? Your first reaction might think that if three is true, then all bets are off and you would go crazy. To reason thus would be an error. Even if we are in a simulation, the best methods of predicting what will happen next are still the familiar ones – extrapolation of past trends, scientific modelling and common sense. To a first approxima- tion, if you thought you were in a simulation, you should get on with your life in much the same way as if you were convinced that you were leading a non-simulated life at the “bottom” level of reality. If we are in a simulation, could ever know for certain? If the simulators don’t want us to find out, we probably never will. But if they choose to reveal themselves, they could certainly do so. Another event that would let us conclude with a high degree of confidence that we are in a simulation is if we ever reach a point when we are about to switch on our own ancestor simulations. That would be very strong evidence against the first two propositions, leaving us only with the third

David Icke has published at least 20 books outlining his views, a mixture of spiritual philosophy and apocalyptic conspiracism. American political scientist Michael Barkun, in a 2003 study of conspiracy theory subculture, writes that Icke is "the most fluent of conspiracy authors, which gives his writings a clarity rarely found in the genre."

Icke's core ideas are outlined in four books written over seven years: The Robots' Rebellion (1994), ... And the Truth Shall Set You Free (1995), The Biggest Secret: The Book that Will Change the World (1999), and Children of the Matrix (2001). The basic conspiracy theory is that the world is controlled by a network of secret societies referred to as the "Brotherhood," at the apex of which stand the "Illuminati" or "Global Elite." The goal of the Brotherhood is a world government, a plan that Icke says was laid out in the The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which Icke says are really the revealed plans of the Illuminati. Icke, in common with many other conspiracy theorists, says the methods of these conspirators include control of the world's economies and the use of mind-control techniques.

The Global Elite controls the Brotherhood and the world using what Icke calls a "pyramid of manipulation,"[20] consisting of sets of hierarchical structures involving banking, business, the military, education, the media, religion, drug companies, intelligence agencies, and organised crime. At the very top of the pyramid are what Icke calls the "Prison Warders," who are not human. He writes that: "A pyramidal structure of human beings has been created under the influence and design of the extraterrestrial Prison Warders and their overall master, the Luciferic Consciousness. They control the human clique at the top of the pyramid, which I have dubbed the Global Elite."

Itzhak Bentov (1923 – May 25, 1979) was a Czech born scientist, inventor, mystic and author. He was an early exponent of what has come to be referred to as consciousness studies.

Bentov was born in Czechoslovakia and moved to Israel. In Israel, Bentov was part of the fledgling state's scientific unit, the Hemmed, where he designed Israel's first rocket for the War of Independence. The Hemmed had to make improvised weapons as there was a world-wide embargo on selling weapons to the Jewish state.

After the war, Bentov moved to America where he followed his passion as an inventor. By profession he was a mechanical engineer specialising in Biomedical Engineering and instrumentation. He is credited with the invention of the remote controlled cardiac catheter (US Patent Sep., 1971 Bentov. )

Wilhelm Reich

One of the most maligned scientists of the 20th century was psychiatrist Dr. Wilhelm Reich. He was born on March 24th, 1897 in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, grew up on a farm, and then entered medical school. By the 1920s, Dr. Reich was being hailed as the heir apparent to Sigmund Freud because of his contributions to psychoanalysis.

By the 1930s, Dr. Reich's studies of biogenesis — the origin of life — were thought by some to be worthy of a Nobel Prize. Then in the 1940s in the United States, Dr. Reich claimed to discover a new form of energy that he said pervaded all space and life, including vacuums. He began to write about a new paradigm in physics, one in which energy — not matter — is primary. And Dr. Reich began to experiment with weather modification. Those experiments seemed to attract glowing lights of unknown origin and Reich speculated the lights were advanced machines operated by non-human intelligences. All of this apparently threatened people of power and financial influence in America and Europe.

The U. S. government bore down on him with a series of investigations that led to his incarceration. Dr. Wilhelm Reich died on November 3rd, 1957 in a U.S. Federal penitentiary where he had been sentenced for two years on a charge of violating interstate commerce laws connected to the transport of an invention Dr. Reich called Orgone Energy Accumulators. The year before his death, the Federal Food and Drug Administration had destroyed Dr. Reich's accumulators at his Rangeley, Maine lab on June 5th and July 23rd, 1956. The FDA also burned his scientific literature and books.

Did Apollo 11 Encounter UFOs on the Moon? from the Book "Above Top Secret" by Timothy Good.
According to hitherto unconfirmed reports, both Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin saw UFOs shortly after their historic landing on the Moon in Apollo 11 on 21 July 1969. I remember hearing one of the astronauts refer to a "light" in or on a carter during the television transmission, followed by a request from mission control for further information. Nothing more was heard.
According to a former NASA employee Otto Binder, unnamed radio hams with their own VHF receiving facilities that bypassed NASA's broadcasting outlets picked up the following exchange:
NASA: What's there? Mission Control calling Apollo 11...
Apollo: These "Babies" are huge, Sir! Enormous! OH MY GOD! You wouldn't believe it! I'm telling you there are other spacecraft out there, lined up on the far side of the crater edge! They're on the Moon watching us!
In 1979, Maurice Chatelain, former chief of NASA Communications Systems confirmed that Armstrong had indeed reported seeing two UFOs on the rim of a crater. "The encounter was common knowledge in NASA," he revealed, "but nobody has talked about it until now."
Soviet scientists were allegedly the first to confirm the incident. "According to our information, the encounter was reported immediately after the landing of the module," said Dr. Vladimir Azhazha, a physicist and Professor of Mathematics at Moscow University. "Neil Armstrong relayed the message to Mission Control that two large, mysterious objects were watching them after having landed near the moon module. But his message was never heard by the public-because NASA censored it. "
According to another Soviet scientist, Dr. Aleksandr Kazantsev, Buzz Aldrin took color movie film of the UFOs from inside the module, and continued filming them after he and Armstrong went outside. Dr. Azhazha claims that the UFOs departed minutes after the astronauts came out on to the lunar surface.
Maurice Chatelain also confirmed that Apollo 11's radio transmissions were interrupted on several occasions in order to hide the news from the public. Before dismissing Chatelain's sensational claims, it is worth noting his impressive background in the aerospace industry and space program. His first job after moving from France was as an electronics engineer with Convair, specializing in telecommunications, telemetry, and radar. In 1959 he was in charge of an electromagnetic research group, developing new radar and telecommunications systems for Ryan. One of his eleven patents was an automatic flights to the Moon. Later, at North American Aviation, Chatelain was offered the job of designing and building the Apollo communications and data-processing systems.
Chatelain claims that "all Apollo and Gemini flights were followed, both at a distance and sometimes also quite closely, by space vehicles of extraterrestrial origin-flying saucers, or UFOs, if you want to call them by that name. Every time it occurred, the astronauts informed Mission Control, who then ordered absolute silence." He goes on to say:
"I think that Walter Schirra aboard Mercury 8 was the first of the astronauts to use the code name 'Santa Claus' to indicate the presence of flying saucers next to space capsules. However, his announcements were barely noticed by the general public.
It was a little different when James Lovell on board the Apollo 8 command module came out from behind the moon and said for everybody to hear:
'PLEASE BE INFORMED THAT THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS.'
Even though this happened on Christmas Day 1968, many people sensed a hidden meaning in those words."

Rumors persist. NASA may well be a civilian agency, but many of its programs are funded by the defense budget and most of the astronauts are subject to military security regulations. Apart from the fact that the National Security Agency screens all films and probably radio communications as well. We have the statements by Otto Binder, Dr. Garry Henderson and Maurice Chatelain that the astronauts were under strict orders not to discuss their sightings. And Gordon Cooper has testified to a United Nations committee that one of the astronauts actually witnessed a UFO on the ground. If there is no secrecy, why has this sighting not been made public?

A certain professor, who wished to remain anonymous, was engaged in a discussion with Neil Armstrong during a NASA symposium.

Professor: What REALLY happened out there with Apollo 11?

Armstrong: It was incredible, of course we had always known there was a possibility, the fact is, we were warned off! (by the Aliens). There was never any question then of a space station or a moon city.

Professor: How do you mean "warned off"?

Armstrong: I can't go into details, except to say that their ships were far superior to ours both in size and technology - Boy, were they big!... and menacing! No, there is no question of a space station.

Professor: But NASA had other missions after Apollo 11?

Armstrong: Naturally-NASA was committed at that time, and couldn't risk panic on Earth. But it really was a quick scoop and back again.

Armstrong confirmed that the story was true but refused to go into further detail, beyond admitting that the CIA was behind the cover-up.

At the same time, presence of reasonable creatures has been detected just close to our home, in the Moon. “NASA scientists and engineers participating in exploration of Mars and Moon reported results of their discoveries at a briefing at the Washington national press club on March 21, 1996. It was announced for the first time that man-caused structures and objects had been discovered on the Moon.” The scientists spoke rather cautiously and evasively about the functioning objects, with the exception of UFO. They always mentioned the man-caused objects as possible, and pointed out the information was still under study, and official results would be published later.

It was mentioned at the briefing as well that the Soviet Union used to own some photo materials proving presence of reasonable activity on the Moon. And although it wasn't identified what kind of reasonable activity it was, thousands of photo-and video materials photographed from the Apollos and the Clementine space station demonstrated many parts on the lunar surface where the activity and its traces were perfectly evident. The video films and photos made by U.S. astronauts during the Apollo program were demonstrated at the briefing. And people were extremely surprised why the materials hadn't been presented to the public earlier. And NASA specialists answered: “It was difficult to forecast the reaction of people to the information that some creatures had been or still were on the Moon. Besides, there were some other reasons to it, which were beyond NASA.”

Specialist for lunar artifacts Richard Hoagland says that NASA is still trying to veil photo materials before they are published in public catalogues and files, they do retouching or partially refocus them while copying. Some investigators, Hoagland is among them, suppose that an extraterrestrial race had used the Moon as a terminal station during their activity on the Earth. The suggestions are confirmed by the legends and myths invented by different nations of our planet.

Ruins of lunar cities stretched along many kilometers, huge transparent domes on massive basements, numerous tunnels and other constructions make scientists reconsider their opinions concerning the lunar problems. How the Moon appeared and principles of its revolving around the Earth still pose a great problem for scientists.

Some partially destroyed objects on the lunar surface can’t be placed among natural geological formations, as they are of complex organization and geometrical structure. In the upper part of Rima hadley, not far from the place where the Apollo-15 had landed, a construction surrounded with a tall D-shaped wall was discovered. As of now, different artifacts have been discovered in 44 regions.

The NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, the Houston Planetary Institute and specialists from the bank of space information are investigating the regions. Mysterious terrace-shaped excavations of the rock have been discovered near the Tiho crater. The concentric hexahedral excavations and the tunnel entry at the terrace side cant be results of natural geological processes; instead, they look very much like open cast mines.

A transparent dome raised above the crater edge was discovered near the crater Copernicus. The dome is unusual as it is glowing white and blue from inside. A rather unusual object, which is unusual indeed even for the Moon, was discovered in the upper part of the Factory area. A disk of about 50 meters in diameter stands on a square basement surrounded with rhombi walls. In the picture, close to the rhombi, we can also see a dark round embrasure in the ground, which resembles an entry in an underground caponier. There is a regular rectangular area between Factory and the crater Copernicus which is 300 meters wide 400 meters long.

Apollo 10 astronauts made a unique picture (AS10-32-4822) of a one-mile long object called Castle, which is hanging at the height of 14 kilometers and casts a distinct shadow on the lunar surface. The object seems to be consisting of several cylindrical units and a large conjunctive unit. Internal porous structure of the Castle is clearly seen in one of the pictures, which makes an impression that some parts of the object are transparent.

As it turned out at the briefing where many NASA scientists were present, when Richard Hoagland had requested originals of the Castle pictures for the second time, no pictures were found there at all. They disappeared even from the list of pictures made by the Apollo 10 crew. Only intermediate pictures of the object were found in the archives, which unfortunately donut depict the internal structure of the object.

When Apollo-12 crew landed on the lunar surface, they saw that the landing was observed by a half-transparent pyramidal object. It was hanging just several meters above the lunar surface and shimmered with all rainbow colors against the black sky.

In 1969, when the film about astronauts traveling to the Sea of Storms was demonstrated (the astronauts saw the strange objects once again, which were later called “striped glasses”), NASA finally understood what consequences such kind of control could bring. Astronaut Mitchell answered the question about his feelings after a successful return the following: “My neck still aches as I had to constantly turn my head around because we felt we were not alone there. We had no choice but pray.” Johnston, who worked at the Houston Space Center and studied photos and video materials done during the Apollo program, discussed the artifacts with Richard Hoagland and said, the NASA leadership was awfully annoyed with the great number of anomalous, to put it mildly, objects on the Moon. It was even said that piloted flights to the Moon could be banned in the programs network.

Investigators are especially interested in ancient structures resembling partially destroyed cities. The orbital shooting reveals an astonishingly regular geometry of square and rectangular constructions. They resemble our terrestrial cities seen from the height of 5-8 kilometers. A mission control specialist commented on the pictures: “Our guys observed ruins of the Lunar cities, transparent pyramids, domes and God knows what else, which are currently hidden deep inside the NASA safes, and felt like Robinson Crusoe when he suddenly came across prints of human bare feet on the sand of the desert island.” What do geologists and scientists say after studying the pictures of lunar cities and other anomalous objects? They say, such objects cant be natural formations. “We should admit they are artificial, especially the domes and pyramids.” Reasonable activity of an alien civilization showed up unexpectedly close to us. We were not ready for it psychologically, and some people hardly believe they are true even now.

"During the course of my research I have spoken to several people who allege to have been escorted down into secret or highly secure underground facilities. A long, deep elevator ride is a common feature of their accounts.

Right about here, I imagine you are thinking to yourself: “How deep do the elevators go?”

The short answer is that the documentation in the open literature suggests that the answer is anywhere from hundreds to thousands of feet, and the testimony of the people I have spoken with comports well with that information. But I have run across softer, undocumented information from time to time that suggests that some facilities go even deeper, several or even many miles deep.

By now, I am clear on a few simple facts. 1) There are many secret underground and undersea bases and tunnels. 2) They can be impressively large and surprisingly deep. 3) They contain sophisticated technology. 4) Many thousands of people are involved in constructing, operating and maintaining these facilities. And 5) they are located all over the world.

One of the best known underground facilities in the world is at Pine Gap, near Alice Springs, in the geographical middle of the vast, Australian outback. Even though this base is located in Australia it is really the American military and espionage alphabet soup agencies who administer and operate it. Officially, the Pine Gap facility is a spy satellite intelligence facility, that the Americans use to monitor global satellite communications. If you type the key words Pine Gap or Pine Gap base in a major search engine such as Google or Yahoo, you will get hundreds of thousands, even millions of responsive links. Not all of these links have to do with base at Pine Gap, Australia, but many of them do. You could probably spend years investigating just this one base. However, short of joining the CIA and signing your life and soul away to enter the black world of compartmentalized, special operations you would never be permitted to enter the underground levels at Pine Gap.

That having been said, for 20 years, maybe more, I have been hearing rumors and stories about a large underground base at Pine Gap. I find the stories perfectly credible, because the U.S. military and espionage agencies have a well documented history of creating underground bases in the United States. There is no reason why they wouldn't do abroad, what they do in the USA; on the contrary, there is every reason to think that they would. One of the most eye-popping of these stories was related to me several years ago, second-hand. It was so outlandish that at first I thought it was so far beyond the pale that it could not possibly be true. But I have to confess that as my knowledge of the missing trillions of dollars from the coffers of the Pentagon and other American government agencies has grown, and as I have come to appreciate the Mafia-like nature of the U.S. Federal government and the mega-corporations and multinational conglomerates with which it transacts all manner of undertakings, from A to Z, my mental horizons have broadened to encompass thoughts and levels of understanding to which I was simply unconscious in the past. In other words, the Shadow Government intended to make a mid-size city underground at Pine Gap. I now find myself wondering if they did make an underground city there. And if the answer is in the affirmative, who lives there? Do they live there voluntarily, of their own free will, or are people held there against their will, in bondage? And what is the purpose of such a large facility, assuming such a big, underground city has been constructed?

The United States government has lied to its own citizens, and to the rest of the world, about so many policies, so often, so massively, for so many years, and I find myself in possession of such a wealth of persuasive evidence, both direct documentation and suggestive circumstantial evidence of myriad clandestine underground facilities and unknown numbers of secret undersea bases, as well, that I cannot any longer put any arbitrary, preconceived limits that I might have formerly held on the true extent and size of the secret underground and undersea bases and tunnels on this planet. How Stanley Kubrick Faked the Apollo Moon Landing

It has now been forty years since the fabled moon landings by NASA and the Apollo gang. When it comes to the subject of the moon landings, people tend to fall into two belief groups. The first group, by far the bigger of the two groups, accepts the fact that NASA successfully landed on the moon six times and that 12 human beings have actually walked on the surface of the moon. The second group, though far smaller, is more vocal about their beliefs. This group says that we never went to the moon and that the entire thing was faked.

This essay presents a third position on this issue. This third point of view falls somewhere between these two assertions. This third position postulates that humans did go to the moon but what we saw on TV and in photographs was completely faked.

Furthermore, this third position reveals that the great filmmaker Stanley Kubrick is the genius who directed the hoaxed landings.

1. Motivations for Faking

But why fake the moon landings at all? What would be the motivation? Authors Joseph Farrell and Henry Stevens both have shown us undeniable proof that Nazi scientists had developed advanced flying saucer technology as early as 1943. These authors also show that the US Government brought these same Nazi scientists into this country in order to build these highly advanced flying machines.

Furthermore, they believe that the idea that aliens from outer space are invading the Earth is a clever cover story concocted by NASA to hide this technology.

Many sources inside the military industrial complex have related to me that after John Kennedy was shown the flying saucer technology early in his Presidency, he realized that the advances in technology promised by the flying saucers could solve many of the pressing problems of the world. He saw that releasing this exotic technology would point the way towards cheap and environmentally friendly energy among other things.

Soon after seeing the flying saucer technology, JFK made his famous speech asking NASA to land a man on the moon before the decade was out. Many insiders believed that this was a ploy by JFK to get NASA, and the secret government, to release their saucer technologies. Since it was obvious to everyone that standard rocket technology could not get man to the moon and back, JFK may have thought that NASA would be forced to release the knowledge of the technology behind the flying saucers in order to fulfill his vision and get to the moon by the end of the 1960s. JFK's ploy was therefore intended to free this advanced technology from the insidious hands of the shadow government.

After the assassination of Kennedy in 1963, NASA began a new plan that would solve the problem that JFK initiated. This new plan would allow NASA, and the shadow government, to keep the saucer technology secret and to still make it look like standard rocketry had taken man to the moon and back.

Someone high up in the shadow government decided to fake the entire series of moon landings in order to conceal the United States' extremely new and advanced Nazi technology both from us, the citizens, and our enemies. In some ways NASA's position on this was understandable. We were in the middle of the cold war with the Soviet Union. Did we really want to show the Russians what we had?

2. Who Will Fake It?

In early 1964 Stanley Kubrick had just finished his black satire Dr. Strangelove and was looking to do a science fiction film. While directing Dr. Strangelove, Kubrick had asked the US Air Force for permission to film one of their B-52 bombers for the movie. The Pentagon turned him down. The movie, Dr. Strangelove, was about a flight squadron that had been ordered to fly to Russia and drop nuclear bombs on that country. The Pentagon read Kubrick's script and rejected his request to actually film the inside, and outside, of a B-52. The reason for this rejection was that Kubrick's film was clearly a satire on the military and US nuclear policy. The Pentagon did not want to assist Kubrick in this satirical undertaking.

Undaunted by the rejection, Kubrick used various special effects to create the B-52 in flight. When viewing Dr. Strangelove today, these special effects look quaint and old fashioned, but in 1963 they looked very good. It is possible that someone in NASA saw what Kubrick had done in Dr. Strangelove and, admiring his artfulness, designated Kubrick as the person best qualified to direct the Apollo Moon landing. If he could do that well on a limited budget – what could he do on an unlimited budget?

No one knows how the powers-that-be convinced Kubrick to direct the Apollo landings. Maybe they had compromised Kubrick in some way. The fact that his brother, Raul Kubrick, was the head of the American Communist Party may have been one of the avenues pursued by the government to get Stanley to cooperate. Kubrick also had a reputation for being a notoriously nasty negotiator. It would have been very interesting to be a fly on the wall during the negotiations between Kubrick and NASA.

In the end, it looks like Stanley Kubrick faked the moon landings in return for two things. The first was a virtually unlimited budget to make his ultimate science fiction film: 2001: A Space Odyssey; and the second was that he would be able to make any film he wanted, with no oversight from anyone, for the rest of his life.

Except for his last film, Eyes Wide Shut, Kubrick got what he wanted.

3. Parelleling Events

It is uncanny the way that the production of 2001: A Space Odyssey parallels the Apollo program. The film production started in 1964 and went on to the release of 2001: A Space Odyssey in1968. Meanwhile the Apollo program also began in 1964 and culminated with the first moon landings on July 20th, 1969. Also, it is very interesting to note that scientist Frederick Ordway was working both for NASA and the Apollo program and was also Kubrick's top science advisor for 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Once he negotiated the deal, Stanley, got to work. The most pressing problem for Kubrick in 1964 was to figure out a way to make the shots on the ground, on the surface of the moon, look realistic. He had to make the scenes look wide-open and expansive, like it was really done on the moon and not in a studio back lot.

4. Hollywood Trickery

No one knows how many things he tried, but eventually Kubrick settled on doing the entire thing with a cinematic technique called Front Screen Projection. It is in the use of this cinematic technique that the fingerprints of Kubrick can be seen all over the NASA Apollo photographic and video material.

What is Front Screen Projection? Kubrick did not invent the process but there is no doubt that he perfected it. Front Screen Projection is a cinematic device that allows scenes to be projected behind the actors so that it appears, in the camera, as if the actors are moving around on the set provided by the Front Screen Projection.

The process came into fruition when the 3M company invented a material called Scotchlite. This was a screen material that was made up of hundreds of thousands of tiny glass beads each about .4 millimeters wide. These beads were highly reflective. In the Front Screen Projection process the Scotchlite screen would be placed at the back of the soundstage. The plane of the camera lens and the Scotchlite screen had to be exactly 90 degrees apart. A projector would project the scene onto the Scotchlite screen through a mirror and the light would go through a beam splitter, which would pass the light into the camera. An actor would stand in front of the Scotchlite screen, and he would appear to be “inside” the projection.

Today Hollywood magicians use green screens and computers for special effects, and so Front Screen Projection has gone the way of the Adding Machine and the Model T. But for its time, especially in the 1960s, nothing worked better than Front Screen Projection for the realistic look that would be needed both for the ape-men scenes in 2001: A Space Odyssey and the faked Apollo landings.

To see how Front Screen Projection looks on the screen, let's examine the ape-men scenes at the beginning of Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey. While viewing the stills from these scenes, or watching them in the film, one has to remember that the early scenes in 2001 with the actors in ape costumes were all done on a soundstage. None of what you are seeing in the ape-men scenes at the beginning of 2001 was actually shot outside. The scenes that surround the ape-men are actually slides of a desert being projected onto Scotchlite screens standing at the rear of the set.

In order to create these desert backgrounds Kubrick sent a photographic team to Spain to shoot 8'' X 10'' Ektachrome slides. These slides were then projected via the Front Screen Projection system onto the Scotchlite screen. The actors in ape costumes stood in front of the screen acting out the script.

If you watch 2001 on DVD you can actually occasionally see the “seams” of the screen behind the gyrating apes. Kubrick was doing Front Screen Projection in such a huge and grand fashion that the technicians were forced to sew together many screens of Scotchlite so that Kubrick could create the vastness needed for the ape scenes to be believable.

Please examine:

Now we can clearly see the “seams” and the “stitching” of the Scotchlite Front Projection screen in the sky.

To get the perspective correct, one has to realize that the Scotchlite screen is right behind the rocky outcropping set, which was built on the soundstage. The lines on the screen are the flaws in the Scotchlite screen. These flaws in the screen give the sky give a peculiar “geometry” when the image is properly processed to reveal the Front Projection Scotchlite Screen.

Let's show another example. Here is a still from the famous “water hole” scene from 2001:

While watching 2001, with the scenes of the ape-men one can begin to see the telltale fingerprints that always reveal when the Front Screen Projection system is being used. It should be emphasized that the sets that surround the ape-men in the movie are real. Those are “real” rocks (whether papier-mâché or real) that surround the ape-men. But behind the fabricated rocks on the set, the desert scene is being projected via the Front Screen Projector.

One of the ways that you can tell the Front Screen system is being used is that the bottom horizon line between the actual set and the background Scotchlite screen has to be blocked. Kubrick strategically located rocks and other things near the bottom of the scene in order to hide the projection screen. In other words, the camera and the viewers would see the bottom of the background projection screen if it weren't blocked in some fashion. As part of the “trick” it became necessary to place things in between the screen and the set to hide the bottom of the screen.

I have Photoshopped a line differentiating the set and the background Scotchlite Front Projection Screen. Please note how everything is in focus, from the pebbles on the ground in the set to the desert mountains beyond.

You will see that hiding the bottom of the Scotchlite screen is always taking place when the Front Screen Projection system is used in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Hiding the screen is one of the fingerprints; it is evidence of its use. Just like the stage magician who needs the long sleeves of his costume to hide the mechanism of his tricks, so too Kubrick needed to hide the mechanism of his trick behind the carefully placed horizon line between set and screen.

Here is another example from 2001: A Space Odyssey:

And here is the same image with my Photoshop line separating the set with the ape-man actor and the Scotchlite Front Projection Screen.

And you will see, before this article is finished, that this same fingerprint, this same evidence, is clearly seen in all of the NASA Apollo stills and video footage.

It is this fingerprint that reveals, not only that NASA faked the Apollo missions but also HOW they faked them.

Let's examine a few NASA Apollo images now.

This is a still from Apollo 17. This is also a great example of the Front Screen Projection process:

Again, I have Photoshopped a line indicating the back of the set. One can see that there is a slight uprising behind the rover, which is hiding the bottom of the screen. Also notice that even though everything is in focus from the lunar rover to the mountains in the background, there is a strange change in the landscape of the ground right behind my lines. This is because the photo of the mountains being used on the Front Projection system has a slightly different ground texture than the set. As we go on, we will see that this fingerprint is also consistent throughout the Apollo images.

Here is another Apollo image:

Now here is my version where I show the line between set and screen:

Again notice that the texture of the ground changes right behind my lines.

Now let's go to some more Apollo images. We can see that the same thing occurs here as in the ape-men scenes in 2001. There is always a line separating the set from the screen. Even if you do not see it at first, it will become apparent as one grows more familiar with the Front Screen Projection process and how it is being used to fake the astronauts standing on the lunar surface. Go to any NASA site (like this one, for example) and start looking for yourself.

Not all lunar surface shots are using the process. Sometimes the astronauts are just standing on the set with a completely (and suspicious) black background. The early missions used the Front Screen Projection system only when they had to. But as the missions went on, and they had to look better, Kubrick began to perfect the process.

Although you can see the Front Screen Projection process on every mission, the seriously revealing images are in the later missions, particularly Apollo 14, 15, 16 and (my favorite) 17.

Here are a few from Apollo 17:

That astronaut is driving the lunar rover parallel to the screen and the rover is only three or four feet away from the Scotchlite. Please note how the tire treads just lead to nowhere. Actually, they are going to the edge of the set.

The astronaut is about six feet in front of the Scotchlite screen. Please note how everything is in focus from the rocks and pebbles close to the camera all the way to the crystal clear mountain behind the astronaut. As we shall see very soon, even that is impossible.

Also please note the other telltale evidence that permeates the Apollo images: There is a stark difference in the ground texture between the set and what is being projected onto the screen. You can almost count the number of small rocks and the granularity of the ground is clearly seen on the set. But once we get to the screen on the other side of my line this granularity disappears.

This next image is a slick little piece of work. When first viewed one is sure that they are looking across the vast unbroken lunar surface from beginning to end. With the Earth rising, it is truly a stunning shot.

But sure enough – a close examination reveals the set/screen line once again. Again, please note the change in the texture of the ground immediately on each side of the line. The little pebbles and dust seem to disappear behind the line.

Doesn't the fakery just make you all patriotic inside?

5. Depth of Field: More Evidence

Besides the evidence of the horizon line between set and screen and the changing granularity of the texture of the ground, there is another telltale fingerprint that comes with Front Screen Projection. This has to do with a photographic situation called depth of field. Depth of field has to do with the plane of focus that the lens of the camera is tuned to.

The main rule of thumb in photography is that the larger the format of the film, the less depth of field. For instance, 16mm film has a large depth of field. 35mm has a smaller depth of field, and 70 mm (which Stanley was using in 2001 as were all of the astronaut-photographers in the Apollo missions) has an incredibly small depth of field.

What this means is that it is virtually impossible for two objects that are far apart in the lens of a 70mm camera to be in the same plane of focus. One of the two objects will always be out-of-focus. Filmmakers like to use depth of field because it creates soft out-of-focus backgrounds that are visually very pleasant to the human eye.

While watching the ape-men scenes at the beginning of 2001, one can see that everything is in focus. Whether it is the apes, or the far away desert background, they are all in focus. This is because the Front Projection Screen on which the background desert scenes are projected is actually not far away from the ape actor. In reality the Scotchlite screen containing the desert scene is right behind the actors just as the Scotchlite screen is right behind the astronauts in the Apollo images. So whatever is projected onto that screen will usually be in the same plane of focus as the actor-ape or the actor-astronaut.

This depth of field is impossible in real life using a large format film like 70 mm. Keeping everything in focus is only possible if everything is actually confined to a small place. It may look like the ape-men are somewhere in a huge desert landscape but in reality they are all on a small set in a studio.

It may look like the astronauts are on a vast lunar landscape, but actually they are on a small confined set.

According to the NASA literature, the Apollo astronauts were using large format Hassleblad cameras. These cameras were provided with large rolls of 70 mm film on which they took the images. This large format film is exactly the same size film that Kubrick was using when shooting 2001.

The plane of focus, the depth of field, on these cameras is incredibly small. This should have been a huge problem for the astronaut-photographers, who would have to be constantly adjusting the focus. We therefore should expect to see a lot of out of focus shots taken by the astronauts. When you consider the fact that, because of their helmets, they did not even have the ability to see through the viewfinder of their cameras, this would have only increased the chances that most of what they would be shooting would be out of focus.

I have gone through the entire photographic record of Apollo program, both at Goddard in Greenbelt, Maryland and in the main photographic repository at NASA's Houston headquarters. When the Apollo photographic record is examined, the exact opposite of what one would expect to find is discovered. Instead of many out-of-focus shots, we find that nearly every shot is in pristine focus. And these amateur photographer-astronauts have an uncanny sense of composition, especially when one remembers that they are not even able to look through their camera's viewfinders. Their images have the unmistakable quality of a highly polished professional photographer.

Before embarking on his film career Stanley Kubrick was a professional photographer working for Look Magazine. Honestly, even a professional photographer looking through the viewer of the camera would be hard pressed to come up with the pristine imagery and crystal clear focus of the Apollo astronaut amateur photographers. Unfortunately though, for everyone involved, the fact that everything is in focus in the Apollo record is the old telltale fingerprint of Front Screen Projection.

Examine the above photographs from Apollo. Please note how everything is in focus. As one goes through the entire Apollo record they will discover that the astronaut photographers never seem to have a problem with depth of field. Even though you could never get everything to remain in focus over such vast distances here on Earth, somehow the rules of physics are bypassed when men shoot photographs on the lunar surface.

Indeed the very physics of lens dynamics and depth of field apparently disappears when the astronauts shoot photographs. (Just for the record, the cameras were not altered at all by Hasselblad or anyone else). As a professional photographer and a filmmaker, I have wrestled with depth of field problems for over 40 years. I am surprised that no other photographer has noticed the lack of any such problems encountered by the astronaut-photographers. In reality, the lack of depth of field problems is a nail in the coffin of the Apollo program.

6. Glass Cities or Front Screen Projection?

Former NASA consultant Richard Hoagland has examined many of the photos of the Apollo landings and, although he has never noticed the impossible depth of field, he has found other strange anomalies in the NASA material.

Examining the photographic record of the Apollo missions, and processing Apollo images through various graphics programs, Hoagland has discovered “geometries” in the skies surrounding the astronauts on the moon. He postulates that these geometries are evidence of some kind of gigantic glass-like structures behind, above, and surrounding the astronauts as they stand on the lunar surface. Hoagland even shows us that there are rainbow lights reflecting in the sky high above the astronauts.

Many people, especially in NASA, have attacked Hoagland for these interpretations. Yet no matter how much they attack Hoagland, they can never explain what it is that he is finding on these Apollo images. In the same way that evidence in the JFK assassination and the high weirdness around 9-11 is never examined and explained by the anti-conspiracy theorists, so too is Hoagland's evidence just simply ignored by his critics. Instead they have created an ad hominum attack machine that criticizes Hoagland, the man, while deftly ignoring his intriguing evidence.

His critics are either wrong, or they know what is really happening.

I have known Richard Hoagland for a long time. I was with him during his initial discoveries of artifacts on the lunar surface. I have seen photographic evidence that there are very strange things on the surface of the moon. I am not here to start an argument with Mr. Hoagland or anyone else.

I, like Hoagland, believe that NASA has actually gone to the moon. I believe that moon rocks were taken from the surface of the moon. I believe that there is strong evidence of some kind of past intelligent activity on surface of the moon. But I do not believe that standard rocket technology is what got mankind from the Earth to the surface of the Moon.

I am not trying to debunk Hoagland's discoveries. All I am trying to do, with the following evidence, is show that the Apollo landings were a hoax. And that Stanley Kubrick, using the Front Screen Projection system, directed them.

Again, I want to make sure that I am understood here. I am not saying that there are not strange structures on the moon. What I am saying is that the structures and geometries that Richard Hoagland is seeing in the photographs taken on the lunar surface are not what he thinks they are.

Here are a few of Hoagland's images. He believes that these images are proof that NASA is hiding evidence of alien cities.

This is a processed photograph of astronaut Ed Mitchell on the surface of the moon taken during the Apollo 14 mission. Of course all of the stuff in the sky, as seen in this processed Apollo image from Hoagland, is impossible if it was taken on the lunar surface. There is no atmosphere on the moon. Therefore there can be nothing in the sky. Yet when Hoagland processed much of the Apollo lunar surface imagery he discovered, over and over again, all of this 'crud' in the sky above the astronauts.

No one in NASA even attempts to answer Hoagland, or anyone else, about the strange stuff that he, and others, is finding in the skies above the astronauts.

Richard Hoagland theorizes that this is photographic evidence of huge, abandoned “glass cities” on the surface of the moon. He says that what we are seeing in the above processed image are huge glass towers that only show up on the images after they have been processed through graphics software.

Hoagland has taken the image on the left and processed it in a manner very similar to how I processed the above images from 2001: A Space Odyssey. By increasing the gamma and the contrast of the image, he arrived at the picture on the right. Hoagland interprets the image on the right as proof of giant glass structures behind the astronaut and, for that matter, all over the surface of the moon.

What Hoagland is really seeing, though, is the imperfections in the background Scotchlite screen that Kubrick used to create the lunar backgrounds. These imperfections can also be found in the desert backgrounds in the ape scenes in 2001: A Space Odyssey (see above). What Hoagland, and the above image reveals, is the texture and geometry of the Scotchlite screen.

Because of the vastness of the set, because he needed it to look like it was NOT DONE ON A SOUNDSTAGE, Kubrick had to sew several Scotchlite screens together. It was only when he had created a large enough Scotchlite screen was he then was able to get a large enough background image that would look expansive enough to appear to be the surface of the moon or a desert four million years ago.

The process that created the desert backgrounds in 2001 is the same process that created the lunar mountains backgrounds for the Apollo missions.

The processed image reveals a rainbow-like reflecting light high above the astronauts in the sky on the moon. Hoagland theorizes that this is a light reflecting off of one of the giant glass towers standing right behind the astronaut.

What this actually is, is a light reflecting off of one of the tiny glass beads of the Scotchlite screen. For some reason that particular glass bead was slightly off from its 90-degree angle, and so it caught the projector light and reflected it back to the camera.

It is pretty clear from the two images above that Hoagland's “geometries” are really the patterns and flaws and stitches in the Scotchlite screen.

Maybe this is why NASA suddenly lost all of its lunar images. Maybe this is why NASA just admitted that they “accidentally” taped over the original high-resolution tape of Apollo 11. Maybe this is why Neil Armstrong, “the first man to walk on the moon,” doesn't want to participate in the 40th anniversary parties.

Maybe this is why we have never gone back to the moon.

7. Inconsistent Shadows

Many researchers have pointed out the different angles of light on the surface of the moon. Because there is only one light source (the sun) how can there be multiple light angles on the moon such as this?:

How can the astronauts’ two shadows not be consistent with each other? If they were actually standing in the bright light of the sun, their two shadows should be at the same exact angle. Yet they are not. Why? Because Kubrick used studio lighting!

But why would Kubrick make a mistake like the inconsistent shadows in the above image? A great filmmaker like Kubrick must have realized that this was a huge mistake.

My answer is that Kubrick did this on purpose.

He left behind telltale evidence for his work. And he did this on purpose. Not just in the above shot, but actually all over the Apollo photographic record. In my forthcoming documentary on the NASA Apollo fakery titled Kubrick's Odyssey, I will reveal much more photographic evidence than I possibly can in this short essay.

One thing that I am sure of is that some part of Stanley Kubrick wanted everyone to know what he had done. And that is why he left behind clues that would explain who did it, and how.

8. Last Notes

Those of you who are familiar with my essay, written in 1999, on 2001: A Space Odyssey called “Alchemical Kubrick” already know that I believe that 2001 is the greatest esoteric film of all time.

For the first time anywhere, in that essay I show how Kubrick designed the black monolith to be exactly the same size as the screen on which 2001 was projected. The monolith and the screen are the same thing. The monolith is the screen and the screen is the monolith. It is truly one of the greatest discoveries in cinema history.

When one realizes that Kubrick also used the Front Screen Projection system – not only for the ape scenes in 2001, but also the fake the moon landings – we can see a double, or even possibly a triple meaning, inside the idea that the screen is the monolith and the monolith is the screen.

If the monolith is that device that enlightens humanity, then the Front Screen Projection system, and its unmistakable fingerprints, is the device that enlightens humanity as to how the Apollo landings were faked.

But also we can see that Kubrick used the faking of the Apollo moon missions as an opportunity to make one great film. Because he had negotiated a deal where no one would be given oversight on the film, Kubrick was allowed to make whatever movie he desired. Knowing that no one would object to his anti-Hollywood methods, he created the first abstract feature film, the first intellectual movie and the greatest esoteric work of art in the 20th century.

The president of MGM at the time in 1968 publicly stated that he never even saw a rough cut of 2001: A Space Odyssey during the entire four years of production. Does that sound like the manner in which a head of a major studio would act? 2001: A Space Odyssey was one of the most expensive films ever made at that time. Does it even seem remotely possible that no one at MGM even cared to see the continuous progress of the film?

No way.

I am sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the only film in MGM history where the executives who funded the movie never scrutinized the film.

Why weren't they more interested in this very expensive endeavor?

Because MGM did not fund 2001, the US Government did.

Outside of the Front Screen Projection evidence, which I believe nails the fraud of the Apollo landings, there is other circumstantial evidence that forces the conclusion even more in the direction of Kubrick directing the entirety of the Apollo missions.

For instance:

In the original release of 2001 there were many credits thanking NASA and many of the aerospace companies that worked with NASA on the moon landings. These credits have since been removed from all subsequent releases of 2001. But for those of us old enough to remember, in the original credits Kubrick thanks a vast array of military and space corporations for their help in the production.

As these are the same corporations that supposedly helped NASA get the astronauts to the moon – one has to wonder – what kind of help did they gave Stanley? And for what price?

In the film Wag the Dog, Dustin Hoffman plays a movie producer hired by the CIA to “fake an event.” His name in the movie is Stanley. In that movie “Stanley” mysteriously dies after telling everyone that he wants to take credit for the “event” that he helped fake.

Stanley Kubrick died soon after showing Eyes Wide Shut to the executives at Warner Brothers. It is rumored that they were very upset concerning that film. They wanted Kubrick to re-edit the film but he refused. I personally was in France when Stanley died and I saw, on French television, outtakes from the forthcoming Eyes Wide Shut. I saw outtakes from several scenes that were never in the finished film.

Warner Brothers has even come out and admitted that they re-edited the film. To this day they refuse to release a DVD of Stanley Kubrick's cut. Not only is this a direct violation of the agreement that Kubrick had with Warner Brothers, but it also means that we will probably never see the un-edited version of this film.

One has to wonder what was cut out?

And finally:

Eyes Wide Shut was released on July 16th, 1999.

Stanley Kubrick insisted in his contract that this be the date of the release.

July 16th, 1999 is exactly 30 years to the day that Apollo 11 was launched.

INTERVENTION
THE NEW THEORY MUSCLING IN ON EVOLUTION, CREATION, AND INTELLIGENT DESIGN

Evolution should have put creationism away ages ago—the very ages creationists mulishly, stupidly insist didn’t happen. By every outward sign the ideological contest was shaping up as a slam-dunk shutout runaway rout. The evolution team went in at halftime, after the Scopes Trial in 1925, ahead on all cards, three of seven, 50-zip. No bookies would take a bet at any odds against them. Yet now, closing out the first half-decade of the 21st century, the evolutionists’ classic rope-a-dope tactic of letting their dogma-hobbled opponents futilely flail away has, in a stunning reversal, stopped working.

Fifteen years ago the depleted, rubber-limbed creationists somehow wised up enough to turn the battle into a tag-team match. They staggered to the ropes to touch the hand of a fresh partner, intelligent design, and with sharp wits and shrewd tactics the intelligent designers have turned the tide. Evolution’s knees are buckling and its hands have dropped, opening it up for the kind of haymaker that took out Clint’s Million Dollar Baby. Is it time to crown a new champion? Yes, without a doubt—but not intelligent design.

Loosening up on a heavy bag just beyond ringside is a much older, vastly tougher contender in the long running, bitterly disputed battle over human origins. This contender not only has “hands of stone,” it is made of stone…written, carved, or shaped into forms that can never be dismissed by authority or circumvented by tautology. A grizzled, time-tested theory set in stone thousands of years ago, now primed for battle against three thoroughly worn out, beaten-to-a-bloody-pulp opponents. When Vegas hears about the breadth and depth of supporting facts this contender brings into the ring, not a penny will be wagered against it. If ever there was a “sure thing,” this is it.

Evolution, creation, intelligent design…meet intervention.

In 1915 a German meteorologist named Alfred Wegener wrote that the earth’s continents had at some point in the distant past been fused into one gigantic continent. At the time this was a stunningly radical notion, yet he showed numerous examples of how mountain ranges on one continent had perfect geological analogues on other continents. Similarly, numerous plants and animals living on continental coastlines had perfect analogues on the coastlines of other continents. He didn’t merely suggest these analogues, he proved them, beyond any reasonable degree of scientific doubt. What he couldn’t do, however, was establish a mechanism for how continents might move. He proved they did, proved it definitively, but he couldn’t show how.

Without a mechanism, Alfred Wegener was dismissed by the ruling elite of science in 1915. They were unmoved by the obvious validity of his observations because nobody wanted to have to deal with what they meant. Generations had been needed to accommodate the idea that earth wasn’t the center of the solar system. Then came the realization that centrifugal motion held planets in place as they whirled through the galaxy, which itself was but a speck in a mind-bogglingly large universe. As earth shrunk in significance, Wegener came along to show it wasn’t even stable underfoot. Enough was enough, and that was too much. Nobody was ready for an unstable earth.

Wegener’s brilliant insight required forty years and the deaths of all the leading earth scientists of his day to remove the dogmatists holding it down so researchers in the mid-1950’s could be free to seek—and finally find—its unknown mechanism (tectonic plates floating at a glacial pace across the magma of the mantle). A fellow German, physicist Max Planck, was moved to state it this way: “A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.” That, and the fact you can’t see what you refuse to acknowledge.

Wegener’s case relates to the debate about origins because it typifies how science reacts to new ideas that attempt to move the line of knowledge farther than a few inches. Anything significant enough to alter an entrenched paradigm will be vigorously criticized and uniformly rejected unless—and this is important to note—unless there is some overarching need for the new information. In those cases the breakthrough will be welcomed by scientists with open arms, even if the discovery doesn’t come from one of their own, and even if they know it is wrong or is likely to be proved wrong. If it works to their immediate advantage, they will trumpet it until the notes turn sour.

Like it or not, accept it or not, science is no different from politics. Truth is never the absolute expected by those outside their fraternity.

Unlike maligned Alfred Wegener, Charles Darwin produced a theory that was woefully short on actual confirmable facts to support it, but he had the one thing Wegener lacked—a mechanism. Where Wegener could show numerous geological and biological links between continents, Darwin could not produce a single example of the linchpin of his theory—an intermediate link between one species and another, which was required in the thousands, if not millions, to validate his suggestion that all forms of life emerged from earlier, less sophisticated forms. Darwin understood the precariousness of his position, admitting that if such intermediate links were not eventually confirmed (which he fully expected to occur once his scientific colleagues knew to begin the search), his theory would have to be judged wrong.

Even in 1859, when On The Origin Of Species was published, the fossil record of the era was well known to present an erratic pattern of the history of life on earth. Darwin and his colleagues knew full well that, as it was then understood, it did not support his theory; but they all expected that in the fullness of time and further research, it would. Besides, the “natural” mechanism he had devised for the creation and subsequent proliferation of life had a much more important purpose to scientists of all stripes, not just the biological fraternity. Darwin’s new mechanism gave scientists power.

In 1859 religion ruled the world, internally and externally, in every country. It dominated thinking on every front except scientific pursuits, but even there religion’s tentacles reached deep into the heart of the process. In the 250 years since Galileo was obliterated in the first great battle between science and religion, the status of scientists was only marginally improved. They still had to be careful to avoid censure—or worse—by the church for suggesting that at any level of inquiry there might be a sounder means for explaining life’s deepest mysteries than an omnipotent, omnipresent God.

In an irony of stupendous magnitude, young Charles Darwin was a theology student who in later years came to reject religion as a final arbiter of scientific inquiry. Like most of his colleagues, he accepted the pressing need to transform the religion-science dynamic so scientists could be free—intellectually, emotionally, spiritually—to follow where their logic, intuition, experience, research, and testing might lead. But he also wanted, if possible, to remain in good standing with his church, not to mention with his deeply devout wife. Walking that fine line, he overcame his moral ambiguities to publish his “natural” origin of life and its subsequent propagation on earth.

Darwin was in the right place at the right time with the right idea. The facts behind his idea were dubious from the beginning and were recognized as such by most scientists who could grasp what he was proposing. But they equally understood that by placing the mechanism for life’s processes in the hands of nature, it could be removed from God and thereby lift the onerous foot of religion—which they viewed as separate from God—off their necks.

Darwin lifted that foot to allow science to breathe freely at last, and for the fifteen decades since, religion has been spitefully playing catch-up.

In 1873, only fourteen years after The Origin Of Species, geologist J.W. Dawson, chancellor of McGill University in Montreal, published The Story Of The Earth And Man, as well written and carefully argued as Charles Darwin’s masterpiece. In it Dawson pointed out that Darwin and his cohorts were promoting a theory based on three fallacious “gaps” in reasoning that could not be reconciled with the knowledge of their era. What is so telling about Dawson’s three fallacies is that they remain unchanged to this day.

The first fallacy is that life can spontaneously animate from organic material. In 1873 Dawson complained that “the men who evolve all things from physical forces do not yet know how these forces can produce the phenomenon of life even in its humblest forms.” He added that “in every case heretofore, the effort (to create animate life) has proved vain.” After a century of heavily subsidized efforts to create even the most basic rudiments of life in a laboratory, scientists are still batting zero. In any other endeavor reason would suggest it is time to call in the dogs and water down the fire. But when it comes to Darwinian logic, as Dawson noted, “here also we are required to admit as a general principle what is contrary to experience.”

Dawson’s second fallacy was the gap that separates plant and animal life. “These are necessarily the converse of each other, the one deoxidizes and accumulates, the other oxidizes and expends. Only in reproduction or decay does the plant simulate the action of the animal, and the animal never in its simplest forms assumes the functions of the plant. This gap, I believe, can be filled up only by an appeal to our ignorance.” Thus it remains today. If life evolved as Darwinists claim, it would have to bridge the gaping chasm between plant and animal life at least once, and more likely countless times. Lacking one undeniable example of this bridging, science again bats zero.

The third gap in the knowledge of 1873 was “that between any species of animal or plant and any other species. It is this gap, and this only, which Darwin undertook to fill up by his great work on the origin of species; but, notwithstanding the immense amount of material thus expended, it yawns as wide as ever, since it must be admitted that no case has been ascertained in which individuals of one species have transgressed the limits between it and other species.” Here, too, despite a ceaseless din of scientific protests to the contrary, there remains not a single unquestioned example of one species evolving even partially into another distinct and separate species.

To be fair, some of today’s best-known geneticists and naturalists have broken ranks and acknowledged that what Dawson complained about in 1873 remains true today. Thomas H. Morgan, who won a Nobel Prize for work on heredity, wrote: “Within the period of human history, we do not know of a single instance of the transformation of one species into another if we apply the most rigid and extreme tests used to distinguish wild species.” Colin Patterson, director of the British Museum of Natural History, stated: “No one has ever produced a species by mechanisms of natural selection. No one has gotten near it.” And these are by no means exceptional disclosures.

Scientists know these limitations of evolutionary theory are true and will be enduring, but shamefully few have the nerve to address them openly.

Luckily for the newly empowered Darwinists, the first creationists to enter the ring against them were the most fundamentally strict, dogma bound scientists and apologists of their generation. By hewing so closely to a literal reading of Biblical scripture, they lost credibility with the public media, who steadily relayed their disillusionment to the public itself. By the time of the do-or-die Scopes Trial in 1925, creationists had methodically positioned themselves as irrelevant to the mood of the times. In the go-go Roaring 20’s, progress was the watchword on all fronts. Evolution had caught the surging wave of modernism, leaving creation stranded on the beach of another era.

Evolutionists coasted along, secure in their dominant position, making the creationist mistake of allowing their theoretical framework to ossify into dogma. As the 20th century neared its end, the theory proposed by Charles Darwin in 1859 had morphed into an intellectual straitjacket with all the outward trappings of a religion. There were tenets of the faith, colleges for its perpetuation, and high priests and cardinals tasked with ensuring that all contrary views were neutralized or, when necessary, eradicated. As with the creationists they overthrew, their feet grew to fill the shoes of oppression.

By 1990 a small group of capable scientists—mostly young Turks in their respective fields—had become disenchanted with Darwinian evolution as the bottom line of existence. Chaos theory and microbiology and genetics were steadily underlining what J.W. Dawson expressed in 1873: the basic structure of evolution by descent with modification (mutation) was clearly, indisputably wrong. Accepting that as an undeniable truth meant nature was no longer the only player in the game. Something else seemed to be required to fill the gaping holes popping up everywhere they looked for certainty in evolution. Instead of certainty they found what they came to call “irreducible complexity,” a degree of interrelatedness in biological parts so finely tuned to each other that something incomprehensibly intelligent had to have been behind it all. They decided it required—no, demanded—a designer.

If nature is not now and never was the initiator or perpetuator of life on earth, then God must be granted the honor by default. However, because the intelligent designers were intelligent, they knew the “G” word was not politically correct in a world where, above all else, individual rights must never be abrogated. Rather than inflict their perception of a super rational entity on others, the omnipresent, omnipotent God of early creationists was replaced by the amorphous, gender indistinct, small-letter “designer” that can be anything anyone wants it or him or her or whazzisname to be. But few doubt that intelligent design’s checks are still signed by “G-o-d.”

In fifteen years one small group of disenchanted scientists has grown to be the first major intellectual movement of the 21st century. Victor Hugo said that nothing is as powerful as an idea whose time has come, which has proved true time and again. However, intelligent design has not produced a new idea whose time has come. They have refashioned the old idea that God trumps nature, using it to fill ever-widening cracks opened up in evolution’s crumbling edifice of invincibility. Indeed, Darwin’s venerable theory is now slowly, methodically being exposed as the charade it was from its inception.

Enduring ideas replace; most temporarily hold a place.

I realize such extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, which is readily available in a wide range of disciplines for anyone who cares to seek them out. Unfortunately, in an essay like this, detailing every source would irreparably bog down the narrative, so I have to beg readers’ indulgence with an assurance that no one has to look hard or far to find any number of books, documentaries, and internet websites focused on the idea that Darwin’s gradual evolution was and is a myth that became a religion.

Any serious researcher will also find an intellectual subculture known in the U.S. as “alternative knowledge” and as “frontier science” in countries where the word “frontier” does not conjure up images of Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. This subculture is alive and well and in some ways thriving, though it is hard to truly thrive without access to mainstream media outlets, the majority of which have been intimidated by overprotective scientists. A few examples show how thoroughly this exclusion of ideas has taken root.

In 1981, Rupert Sheldrake published A New Science Of Life, which introduced the concept of “morphic fields,” an unrecognized form of energy surrounding everything and acting as a guiding influence on the life of each living entity. That notion coupled with the discovery of human beings living more or less normal lives with no brains in their skulls gave Sheldrake valid credibility. However, such a radical idea was unacceptable to the scientific elite, prompting one of their chief spokesmen, John Maddox, the editor of Nature magazine, to run an editorial calling for the book to be burned.

In 1990, Thomas Gold substantiated his radical idea that petroleum might well be a result of geochemical processes in the planet’s core. If true, this could have considerable impact on Big Oil and the price everyone pays for fuel, so geologists petitioned to have all mention of it removed from the nation’s libraries (from a Washington Post interview with Gold in 1999).

In 1993, NBC aired Mystery of the Sphinx, a documentary that provided overwhelming evidence that the limestone of the Sphinx and its enclosure had been deeply weathered by rain. Because Egypt’s Sahara has been desert for at least 8,000 years, that meant the Sphinx must have been carved well prior to that, perhaps as long ago as 12,000 or 15,000 years ago. This was a flagrant challenge to mainstream Egyptology, whose defenders insisted that all three Great Pyramids and the Sphinx complex were created together within a 100-year period only 5,500 years ago (3,500 B.C.)

Such a public repudiation of “expert” consensus could not be allowed to stand unchallenged. Outraged scientists bombarded NBC with calls and letters of complaint, insisting they should have been “consulted” regarding the show so they could have explained how egregiously the facts had been misrepresented. They also insisted that NBC drop plans to follow the initial airing of the show with a rerun later in the year. To its credit, NBC did not succumb to the pressure and did air the rerun. Later that year Mystery of the Sphinx won an Emmy Award for outstanding documentary achievement, and to this day not one word broadcast as fact has been successfully repudiated.

To follow the critical acclaim garnered by Mystery of the Sphinx, NBC decided to broadcast another controversial documentary in 1996. The Mysterious Origins of Man was based largely on Forbidden Archeology, a mammoth tome by Michael Cremo and Richard L. Thompson. Narrated by actor Charlton Heston, the show revealed numerous examples of real, true, bona fide artifacts studiously ignored by mainstream science because they didn’t fit with the accepted chronology for mankind’s tenure on earth. This array of evidence was even more damaging to the mainstream position than the Sphinx show, and the reaction of scientists was entirely commensurate.

Having learned from their previous experience that NBC would not budge from the pressures they could apply by en masse protests, they took their case directly to the Federal Communication Commission, requesting that it forbid NBC from airing the show as a rerun. One letter to the FCC was written by Dr. Allison Palmer, President of the Institute for Cambrian Studies, and said in part: “At the very least NBC should be required to make substantial prime-time apologies to their viewing audience for a sufficient period of time so the audience clearly gets the message they were duped.” Once again NBC refused to buckle to the pressure, and once again not a word in the show stated as a fact has ever been successfully repudiated.

Despite NBC’s initial courage, threats by scientists to boycott the products of their sponsors eventually had the desired effect. No original documentaries of such potential impact have been broadcast by a major network or cable channel since The Mysterious Origins of Man in 1996.

Courage, and the lack thereof, relates to the competing theories of origins because no mainstream media are anxious to pour gasoline on the fire now making mainstream evolutionists sweat. Every time a major media outlet makes room on its pages or provides time on its airwaves for theories or ideas critical of the currently favored paradigms, they know they will be bombarded by ever-watchful, ever-paranoid scientists. Those scientists are especially touchy about the rise of intelligent design as an idea that, unlike its creationism parent, can’t be dismissed or ridiculed into irrelevancy.

The Negro League’s pitching great Satchel Paige used to say, “Don’t look back, something might be gaining on you.” Intelligent design is clearly, indisputably gaining on evolution for the very good reason that each of its fundamental tenets is being proved—or has already been proved—wrong. Standing that deeply against the ropes, being pounded day after day by their clever, media-savvy opponent, the last thing they—or their opponent for that matter—want to confront is another theory (intervention) joining the battle. All that keeps the newcomer outside the ring of public awareness is its lack of media exposure. Fortunately, that situation shows signs of improving.

This essay is an opening wedge.

Intervention theory began in 1968 with the publication of Erich Von Daniken’s Chariots of the Gods. Von Daniken focused on the wide array of megalithic structures around the world that so obviously are beyond modern capacities to match. Surely, he argued, only intervention by non-human, off-world entities could explain how such immense structures could be built to tolerances that today’s engineers can only marvel at. One favorite quote is that the Pyramids are “Rolex watches built on a scale of small mountains,” as are Baalbek in Lebanon, Tiahuanaco in Bolivia, and Sachsahuaman and Ollantaytambo in Peru, among dozens less cyclopean in size but no more likely to have been created by the minds and muscles of ordinary humans.

Like Alfred Wegener in 1915, Erich Von Daniken was undoubtedly correct when asserting that no Stone Age culture could possibly have created such immense, intricate edifices. But also like Wegener, he couldn’t provide a mechanism whereby off-planet visitors could make a journey to our planet in a reasonable time span. Our sun’s closest neighbor is Proxima Centauri at 4.2 light years away. Assuming the speed of light is as constant as Einstein claimed (this is now challenged by considerable frontier science research), intergalactic travel at earthly speeds on earthly timescales seems improbable. However, these factors are limiting or absolute only because scientific hubris makes them so. In reality they might not exist at all. Unfortunately for Von Daniken, in 1968 he had no way to counter scientific ridicule of his ideas.

As a result, he was effectively laughed out of the ring.

In 1976 a new champion of intervention appeared. Zecharia Sitchin published The Twelfth Planet, which supplied a different array of evidence to support Von Daniken’s assertion that earth bristled with the remains of non-human activity in a not-too-distant past. Sitchin based his conclusions on the voluminous written records of Sumer, the “sudden civilization” that sprang up virtually overnight in the Tigris-Euphrates Valley of modern Iraq. Historians can’t begin to plausibly explain how Sumerians were transformed from Stone Age farmers to extremely sophisticated city dwellers in a matter of only a few hundred years around 5,000 years ago. The mystery is so deep and so profound, few historians dare attempt to deal with it, mostly leaving only one thing about Sumer openly discussed in history classes—writing.

Sumerians combined myriad orientations of a single wedge-shaped image to create a complex, convoluted, cleverly subtle graphic technique known as cuneiform, which is readily acknowledged as the first form of writing. The wedges were pressed into clay tablets that were then put into the first kilns (one of dozens of sophisticated technologies introduced by this supposedly “primitive” society) and fired into stone to provide what became the gold standard of knowledge in all subsequent cultures: written in stone.

Historians are so baffled by the things Sumerians wrote, they classify nearly all of it as “myth,” nothing more than flights of fancy by surprisingly creative “primitives.” When Albert Einstein was asked how he came to see the basics of his great theories, he replied, “I ignored an axiom.” Fortunately for those in the intervention movement, Zecharia Sitchin did the same thing.

Sitchin rejected the “myth” appellation officially applied to Sumerian writings, treating them as the true history Sumerians said they were. Looking beyond the flourishes of the language, its subtleties and allegories, he found an astonishing array of facts that could be corroborated by modern research. What he found was literally mind-boggling in 1976, and it remains so today.

Sumerians wrote in stone 4,000 years ago that superior beings from beyond earth lived among them as their lords and masters, and in far earlier times actually created humans “in their own image, after their own likeness” (words exactly copied 2,000 years later to be incorporated into Genesis) in a “house of fashioning” (a genetic laboratory?) where also were created all of the known domesticated plants and animals “to give the gods their ease.”

The Sumerians always referred to their gods in a multiple sense and never with upper case emphasis. They wrote about those gods in matter-of-fact terms, describing them as flesh-and-blood beings with whom they could have sex, produce hybrid offspring, even occasionally marry. And Sumerian knowledge went much deeper. They had a plausible explanation for how our solar system came to have its unusual lineup of planets and moons. Earth’s missing crust and Wegener’s tectonic plates are impossible in an astral body forming normally in the vacuum of space, yet the Sumerians accounted for both. It is equally impossible for earth’s oceans of water to form as close to the sun as the planet now orbits, yet there it is. The Sumerians gave a reason that makes sense. Earth’s overly large, precisely aligned moon is also dealt with, as is the asteroid belt, another conundrum they neatly accommodate.

Then comes the cruncher, a swing-from-the-heels knockout punch.

The Sumerians wrote that our immediate solar system contained nine planets plus one other, a tenth, traveling in a 3600-year elliptical (rather than the usual circular) orbit around the sun. That planet they called Nibiru, the home of their gods, whom they called the Anunnaki. At a stroke this negated the objection that off-world beings couldn’t make a journey to earth from the closest star systems in anything approaching a reasonable timeframe. These gods came from the neighborhood, so to speak, from just around the corner.

The Sumerians also counted planets from the perspective of the space-faring gods on Nibiru, from the outside in, calling earth the seventh, rather than the third rock from the sun. And, with a stunning flash of insight, they wrote that when viewed from “on high” in the heavens, Uranus and Neptune looked like “blue-green watery twins.” Most astronomers assumed anything past Saturn was likely to be a cold dead rock, so it came as quite a surprise to see photographs from Voyager 2 in 1986, and again in 1989, proving the Sumerians were right. Uranus and Neptune were made of blue-green slush.

How could the Sumerians know such things? How could they know Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto were even there, much less how they looked if viewed up close in space? We didn’t learn about the existence of those three planets until 1781, 1846, and 1930, respectively. How could the Sumerians know about any of it, much less all of it? Simple…their gods told them.

They were refreshingly candid about it. All they knew, all they were, their very existence was owed to the beneficence of the Anunnaki gods who created them, created their “sudden” culture and civilization, and who often erratically ruled their lives as the fortunes of one principal god waxed and another’s waned. They wrote of an astonishingly active history thrust upon them by living on earth at that unique time, in that unique place. Yet the vast majority of people in the world today have no idea any of this ever existed.

As Sitchin points out in the title of his book, Sumerians also included the moon and the sun to make twelve major members of this solar system—a number that crops up in Sumerian writings more than once. They introduced the world to twelve signs of the zodiac, the same ones that have, by nothing short of a miracle, come down to us today intact, the same twelve that have passed through the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and all cultures in between. The Sumerians also had twelve major Anunnaki gods (the same twelve of Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and others) ruling in Sumer over a plethora of lesser gods and their adamu (which came to Genesis as “Adam”), the human slaves and servants they engineered to make their lives easier on what had to be a hardship outpost on a planet far distant and different from their own.

In doing that engineering, they gave the intervention theory a fresh new foothold in the origins debate, and this one is finally gaining traction.

In 1998, intervention theory was taken to the next level by Lloyd Pye (yes, that’s me) in the book Everything You Know Is Wrong. Despite that facetious title, the book revealed a mechanism that Erich Von Daniken and Zecharia Sitchin had lacked, a mechanism that could unmistakably establish proof of outside intervention on earth—genetics. Sitchin made clear that the Anunnaki claimed to create humans as well as all the known domesticated plants and animals in a “house of fashioning,” which he logically assumed must be their name for a genetics lab. But in 1976 not enough was known about human DNA to look for, much less establish, proof of such a claim.

By 1998 enough was known, and Pye revealed it. In 1996, only two years earlier, geneticists announced the results of their years-long efforts to establish when humans split off from the “common ancestor” they shared at some point with chimpanzees, our closest genetic relatives. The uniformly accepted timeframe of archeologists and anthropologists was between 5.0 million to 8.0 million years ago, so geneticists felt they could put a bracket inside that wide range by analyzing the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of a statistically meaningful array of modern humans to determine which groups were the oldest, and then date those by counting mutations to their mtDNA.

When the answer came in, everyone was flabbergasted. Human DNA history didn’t go back to 8.0 million years ago, or to 5.0 million years ago. It went back only a relative eye blink—to just 200,000 years! Something had to be wrong, hugely wrong, with such a recent date. If humans were no older than 200,000 years…. That possibility sent shudders through every scientist forced to seriously consider it. It just had to be wrong. However, subsequent testing of the male Y chromosome showed it was unquestionably true.

Because there was no way to rationally or logically explain such a glaring discrepancy in the evolutionist story of human origins, the new date had to be explained away. This was done by creating the phantasmagorical device of a “genetic bottleneck” through which humanity could be squeezed. For as absurd as that sounds (and is), here is how the scenario played out:

“First, nobody get excited. Okay? Everything’s gonna stay the same. Humans did, in fact, evolve from an ancient common ancestor with chimps. Yes, this mitochondrial mess was a close call, but now Jake’s come up with a loophole, so we can go back to normal and move ahead like nothing ever happened. Everybody got that? Good. Now, here’s what we have to say….”

By some unknown but deadly means, virtually every human ancestor alive at 200,000 years ago was wiped out. Only a literal handful in southern Africa (where the geneticists proved the earliest humans appeared) managed to avoid the plague that felled everyone else. That literal handful, no more than a few dozen at most, became the breeding stock for every member of every race on the planet today—all six billion of us. Only by imagining such an improbable worldwide catastrophe can Darwinian evolution be distorted enough to jibe with the impossible-to-distort mitochondrial DNA results.

Suddenly, our creation at the hands of the Anunnaki from Nibiru, the tenth planet in our solar system, doesn’t seem quite so farfetched. Now add this kicker: the Sumerians wrote that the Anunnaki claimed to have created humans in “the house of fashioning” in southern Africa 200,000 years ago!

I’m well aware of how this sounds, but it is true and defendable.

Even more compelling and defendable are the immense physical gaps between humans and every other “higher” primate, not just chimpanzees. In 1911, then-famous British anthropologist, Sir Arthur Keith, quantized all of the anatomical characteristics that set a species of ape apart from the others. He found that gorillas had 75 unique physiological attributes; chimpanzees, 109; orangutans, 113; gibbons, 116; and humans, 312. Thus, humans have an array of traits that are three times more distinctive than higher primates.

This is surprising because evolutionists so loudly trumpet that humans and chimps share 98% the same DNA. This is, it should come as no surprise, powerfully dependent on who does the counting and how it is done; but the bottom line is that its trumpeting is a subterfuge to hide from view several embarrassing facts known about the inner structure of the human genome.

First up: the chromosome count. All higher primates have 48 but humans have “only” 46. How could that happen? How could two entire chromosomes—a significant chunk of the 20,000 or so genes humans are now known to possess—be lost, yet somehow we end up three times as different physiologically as our ape relatives and a light year different in intellectual capacity? Better yet, how were they lost? Where did they go?

Well, guess what? Here’s a great secret… shhhhh! …a great secret evolutionary biologists and geneticists would hate to see turned into public discourse, especially within hearing range of their opponents in the battle over human origins. Those two “missing” chromosomes are not missing!

It turns out the 2nd and 3rd chromosomes in all higher primates have miraculously been fused together in humans to make one long chromosome that still contains all of the higher primate’s DNA. That fact is remarkable enough. However, it borders on miraculous when we discover that by more sleight-of-hand by nature, certain areas on key human chromosomes have been flipped—literally cut loose in certain places, turned on end, and then reinserted and re-fused into the chromosomes to make them whole again.

Talk to any geneticist or read any genetics text and these miracles of nature will be explained in blandly prosaic terms. These things are not new, not original, not rare, and are certainly nothing to get excited about. This is political spinning at its most glaring. They know the truth, in the same way scientists in 1915 knew the truth about Alfred Wegener’s discovery. But just as earlier scientists were not ready or willing to accept that the earth could be unstable beneath their feet, modern scientists are equally unwilling and unprepared to confront the alarming bottom line of intervention theory.

We humans are not now, and never have been, alone. Period.

I began this essay by saying that as intervention theory enters the origins debate against its vastly better known opponents, it brings Roberto Duran’s famous “hands of stone,” which in our case is comprised of literal stone—hundreds of megalithic structures around the world, and extensive writings of the ancient Sumerians. Then I moved to genetics, which at first glance is not in any way related to stone; but it actually is in this context:

Intervention says that human beings and all domesticated plants and animals are the result of genetic engineering by off-world beings of some kind, whether they prove to be the Anunnaki or not. As with the megalithic stones, our DNA clearly reveals evidence of their handiwork while here. But another array of stones makes it equally clear that humans did not evolve on earth in the way every evolutionist insists had to occur. Those stones are the fossils of the so-called “prehumans” of the past five or six million years.

We’ve all seen their mug shots, so I’m not asserting anything that can be construed as distortion. From the early Australopithecines (Lucy and her type), through all of the Homos (Habilis, Erectus, Neandertal), every single “prehuman” fossil (which, please recall, is bone turned into stone) presents an array of physical features diametrically opposed to modern humans.

They all have thick heavy brow ridges above large round night-vision eyes. They have no forehead, wide nasal passages, no chins, and mouths that project from their faces in the prognathous fashion. From Australopithecines to Neanderthals this is their uniform pattern, then at “only” 120,000 years ago (so far) the first true human, Cro-Magnon, appears in the fossil record. This timeframe is a comfortable chronological fit within the 200,000 years since the creation of humans established by the Sumerians 4,000 years ago.

Like it or not, agree with it or not, stone is what it is and says what it says, with no chance ever to change it, revise it, alter it, or shred it.

I assume this essay will be upsetting, if not infuriating, to many of those who read it. On the other hand, equal numbers—if not a substantial majority—will hear echoes of doubts they might have registered along the course of their lives when struck by some simplicity or absurdity passed off as “truth” by mainstream scientists desperately clinging to old convictions.

It was the same in 1915 and will remain the same far into the future, unless and until ordinary people open their minds enough to fairly evaluate all opposing viewpoints; and if circumstances dictate a change in direction, they will have to rise up and literally cram unwanted facts down the throats of a scientific community more worried about social status, job tenure, and running afoul of peer reviews for grants than honestly searching for truth.

Let me close by repeating the quote from Max Planck:

“A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.”

This essay was written to familiarize a new generation—as well as open-minded individuals in the entrenched one—with the fundamentals of intervention theory. When enough doubters lift the prejudicial ropes keeping it out of their mental rings, a very different fight over origins will begin.

This is clearly not a human skull, we have been fed a variety of unlogical explanations as to why this skull has this formation. Several like it were found in Peru with small variations. Many artifacts that were clearly of Egyptian origin were also found in Peru dating back to the time of the Ancient Egyptians. However these two cultures and countries were not supposed to have had contact back then being so far from each other. Many odd things are found in Peru, the Nazca lines, a set of animal and geometrical lines engraved onto the ground which extend for miles. Engraving these lines would require a view from above to do them correctly, yet they were not supposed to have aircraft back then. So how did they do it?? This skull gives us a good idea. If they had brains big enough to fit into these skulls they could obviously find ways to fly in aircraft or spacecraft no doubt. A photo of other skulls found in Peru are below.

The next picture is an engraving in Ancient Egypt, notice the hats worn by the two adults, could they be covering their large heads and skulls? Notice the 2 babies, one on the left has an elongated skull, so do the 2 on the right. Could all these facts be just coincidences? Of course not? We are not all that gullible to keep accepting all these foolish arguments for all these obvious alien things we see around the world. Egypt, Peru, Mexico, Easter Island, we have been fed a bunch of baloney about the origins of all these incredible works and their builders. We are told in schools that the great pyramid of Egypt took 40 years to build and it's purpose was to bury a pharoah. Come on now, are we that gullible and were the Egyptians that gullible? Of course not, who would spend 40 years of hard labor building a pyramid just to stuff a dead body in it after 40 years of hard work. That hardly sounds logical for such an obviously advanced culture as the Ancient Egyptians. They invented their own language for god sakes, are we to think they were dumb enough to spend 40 years sweating their guts out for only burying 1 body. That is the stupidest thing we have been fed by Egyptologists to date. In Mexico the group of pyramids including the pyramid of the sun are known by people in Mexico by legend as "Place where the gods touch the earth." In all evidence this probably means where the aliens landed. Where they touched the Earth... Think about it, the pyramids are large stone monuments in Mexico with steps going down the sides. What better purpose for the steps than to allow the aliens to climb down the pyramids to the ground. That is the most logical reason for their construction. And to think that primitive people could build something so incredible is well not likely in all logic.

This picture contains 1 Egyptian with some strange device on his or her head, while his friend has an elongated head and slanted eyes. This photo is not artistic in nature as you can see. Their is nothing very artistic about it, so why give the guy such a large head. Because he had one is the most logical answer. Look at the complex code on the tablet, some primitive people didn't do all that, aliens did.

Here are all the skulls found that are elongated at the back. All these skulls are catalogued and genuine. They are all together in a museum.

This object was found at Saqqara, in Egypt. This is one of the flying machines that we see portrayed in Ancient Egyptian paintings on walls and hieroglyphics. Notice the spirals on each side of the object, this is a universal shape, in fact it is the most common geometrical shape in the universe. To represent it in such a way depicts their understanding of the universe, to put it on this plane could signify that they explore the universe. The side view of this object resembles the following hieroglyph below which is found several times throughout Egypt. It looks like a plane of some sort, as does the object above. However I am more inclined to think this was an airship used once in the atmosphere of a planet. Ufo's of the disc type were probably used to enter space, however this plane type could also possibly enter space, however the aerodynamics might be more suitable to an atmospheric environment, such as us using planes to fly in the sky as opposed to the space shuttle.

Petroglyphs dating back thousands of years ago by ancient Indians in the American Southwest. According to Indian folklore, two objects collided high in the sky and one crash-landed in the region of Death Valley. Some men arrived (presumably in another ship) and spent some time repairing the damaged craft and were observed by the local Indians. The two images below may possibly depict the ship (left) used by the men who came to repair the damaged craft. In comparing the two images, the one on the right seems to depict structural damage around the edges and the bottom. Could it be the one that allegedly crashed? A disk shaped object is shining beams of light down on John the Baptist and Jesus - Fitzwilliam Musuem, Cambridge, England - Painted in 1710 by Flemish artist Aert De Gelder. It depicts a classic, hovering, silvery, saucer shaped UFO shining beams of light down on John the Baptist and Jesus. What could have inspired the artist to combine these two subjects?

Frescos throughout Europe which reveal the appearance of space ships in the skies including this painting of 'The Crucifixion' - painted in 1350. It seems to depict a small human looking man looking over his shoulder - at another UFO as if in pursuit - as he flies across the sky in what is clearly a space ship. The leading craft is decorated with two twinkling stars, one reminiscent of national insignia on modern aircraft. This paintng hangs above the altar at the Visoki Decani Monestary in Kosovo, Yugoslavia.

This painting is called "The Madonna with Saint Giovannino". It was painted in the 15th century by Domenico Ghirlandaio (1449-1494) and hangs as part of the Loeser collection in the Palazzo Vecchio. Above Mary's right shoulder is a disk shaped object. Below is a blow up of this section and a man and his dog can clearly be seen looking up at the object.

Using the suite of instruments on board Solar-B, scientists will study solar activity including coronal mass ejections. When these blast through the sun's outer atmosphere and plow toward Earth at speeds of thousands of miles per second, the resulting effects can be harmful to communication satellites and astronauts outside the Earth's magnetosphere. On the ground, the magnetic storm wrought by these solar particles can knock out electric power. A better understanding of this solar activity could give people on Earth more time to prepare by placing satellites in a safe configuration, planning the best time for astronaut space walks or rocket launches, and implementing contingency plans to deal with any power outages.

Dozens of New Top-Secret Government UFO Witnesses Identified One Year After CSETI DC Briefings

One year after the CSETI (Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence) briefings for members of Congress, White House staff and other government and military leaders, dozens of new, top-secret government UFO witnesses have come forward.

On April 9, 1997, CSETI convened extensive briefings for government and military leaders concerning the existence of UFOs and extraterrestrial intelligence. Nearly 30 congressional offices were represented at the briefings, which were held at the Georgetown Westin Hotel in Washington DC.

Since that date, dozens of never-before identified top-secret military and government witnesses have come forward, who are ready to testify before congressional hearings regarding unambiguous UFO-related events and projects which they have directly observed. This is in addition to the first-hand military witnesses who provided similar testimony at the closed-door briefings for government leaders last April.

At that time, CSETI Director Steven M. Greer M.D. asked that congress hold open hearings at which definitive evidence and military witness testimony could be presented. The assembled government leaders were told that in the post Cold War era, there was no reason for the continuation of blanket secrecy concerning the UFO / ETI issue and that the time for disclosure had come.

In the past year, Dr. Greer and other members of the CSETI Project Starlight disclosure coalition have met with various members of Congress, senior Pentagon officials and others to encourage an orderly open hearing process through which these historic disclosures can be made. Hundreds of people have called and written key congressional committee chairmen to recommend such hearings.

While CSETI continues to provide briefing materials and conduct meetings with various government leaders, as of this date no congressional committee or member of congress has agreed to hold the open public hearings.

CSETI leadership has been briefing world government and military leaders on this matter since the fall of 1993. This briefing process has included senior Clinton Administration officials, sitting CIA Director James Woolsey, former United Kingdom Ministry of Defense head and five star Admiral Lord Hill-Norton, then UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros Ghali and his wife, other senior UN officials, and numerous private briefings with members of Congress, among others.

While there has been keen interest in the subject and wide-spread support for disclosure, to date no official government body or leader has been willing to conduct open hearings to finally disclose the facts related to UFOs and Extraterrestrial Intelligence.

Ironically, most of these government leaders - who universally have been denied access to ultra-secret ‘black' projects dealing with the UFO matter- have recommended that Dr. Greer and the coalition of top-secret military whistle blowers step forward unilaterally and by-pass the government process altogether. Such advise has even been offered by sitting members of Congress and very senior Pentagon officials with the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

To this end, Dr. Greer and his advisors are making preparations so the top-secret government witnesses and other evidence related to UFOs can be disclosed in a privatized process which will by-pass the governmental bureaucracy. The privatization of the UFO disclosure process, while regrettable, also appears inevitable since Congress and other government leaders are apparently reluctant to expose these secret programs to public.

Dr. Greer stated " While an open congressional hearing on the UFO/ETI subject is still the preferred venue for a definitive disclosure on the subject, it appears that most government leaders cannot gain access to these so-called black projects, and therefore have been kept in the dark. And there appears to be an absence of courage and leadership in Washington at this time to convene open congressional hearings at which top-secret military whistle blowers could come forward. Regrettably, pro-active efforts to officially end the excessive secrecy surrounding the UFO subject have been met with inaction in congress and in the White House. Aliens have contacted humans several times but governments have hidden the truth for 60 years, the sixth man to walk on the moon has claimed.
Apollo 14 astronaut Dr Edgar Mitchell, said he was aware of many UFO visits to Earth during his career with NASA but each one was covered up.
Dr Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview that sources at the space agency who had had contact with aliens described the beings as 'little people who look strange to us.'
He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a small frame, large eyes and head.
Chillingly, he claimed our technology is 'not nearly as sophisticated' as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned 'we would be been gone by now'.
Dr Mitchell, along with with Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard, holds the record for the longest ever moon walk, at nine hours and 17 minutes following their 1971 mission.
'I happen to have been privileged enough to be in on the fact that we've been visited on this planet and the UFO phenomena is real,' Dr Mitchell said.
'It's been well covered up by all our governments for the last 60 years or so, but slowly it's leaked out and some of us have been privileged to have been briefed on some of it.

'I've been in military and intelligence circles, who know that beneath the surface of what has been public knowledge, yes - we have been visited. Reading the papers recently, it's been happening quite a bit.'

Dr Mitchell, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering and a Doctor of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics claimed Roswell was real and similar alien visits continue to be investigated.
He told the astonished Kerrang! radio host Nick Margerrison: "This is really starting to open up. I think we're headed for real disclosure and some serious organisations are moving in that direction.'
Mr Margerrison said: 'I thought I'd stumbled on some sort of astronaut humour but he was absolutely serious that aliens are definitely out there and there's no debating it.'
Officials from NASA, however, were quick to play the comments down.

Along the way, he says that people knowledgeable about an alleged crash of an alien spaceship in Roswell, N.M., shared the information with him.
He's been speaking out ever since, most recently on a radio talk show that tripped off an unexpected wave of media attention. In a telephone interview with Irene Klotz, Mitchell sets the record straight -- as he sees it.
Irene Klotz: Hi Dr. Mitchell
Edgar Mitchell: Just a minute ... I'm sorry. My dog jumped in my lap and knocked over my coffee cup. It's OK. Go ahead.
IK: What's your dog's name?
EM: Oh, that's Cutie (Q.T.?)
IK: Cutie?
EM: Yup, I've got two of them and right now they're telling me that it's their suppertime and I must come in and fix their supper ... at least that's what they want.
IK: Well first of all thanks very much for making a little time. I wanted to ask you if there was anything about the radio interview you did that was different from what you've said in the past.
EM: No, there's nothing different. Several of (the reports of the interview) that I've seen come around have some flaws in them. Some of the reports pushed it or spun it incorrectly. NASA had nothing to do with anything I've done. I wasn't briefed by NASA. There haven't been any sightings as a result of my flight service there, so if that part of it comes out on anything you've seen it is just totally wrong.
IK: Yes, I did want to clarify that.
EM: My major knowledge comes from what I call the old-timers, people who were at Roswell and subsequent who wanted to clear the things up and tell somebody credible even though they were under severe threats and things -- this was back in the Roswell days. Having gone to the moon and being a local citizen out in the Roswell area some of them thought I would be a safe choice to tell their story to, which they did. Even though the government put real clamps on everybody, it got out anyhow.
Subsequent to that, I did take my story to the Pentagon -- not NASA, but the Pentagon -- and asked for a meeting with the Intelligence Committee of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and got it. And told them my story and what I know and eventually had that confirmed by the admiral that I spoke with, that indeed what I was saying was true.
IK: You mean what had been told to you was true?
EM: Yup, in other words. There was a UFO crash. There was an alien spacecraft. This gentleman tried his damndest to get me in and like so many others in the administration over the last 60 years, since JFK's time, was unable to. He was told 'Admiral, you don't have a need to know, and therefore go get lost,' essentially.
IK: Have you ever come out and said who this person was who briefed you?
EM: No, I have not.
IK: Would you at some point?
EM: No, it is out and around but I don't feel like I have the liberty to do that.
IK: When did you have your meeting at the Pentagon?
EM: It was in the late '90s in Washington when I was there working with The Disclosure Project, trying to get all those opened up with another Naval officer by the name of Will Miller and Steven Greer, who you probably heard of. Steven and I don't really work on this anymore together, but we did at that point and getting to the Pentagon and seeing what we could do there to try to get this opened up.
IK: Why do you think the government hasn't acknowledged that there is life outside of Earth? I thought that was sort of the point of NASA.
EM: Well most people in government don't know. The government is highly compartmentalized. You could work next door to somebody for 30 years not knowing what they're doing in certain areas. The whole point of all of this ... goes back to World War II. This Roswell incident took place right at the aftermath of World War II when the U.S. Army Air Corps was split off and became the Air Force and the OSS (Office of Strategic Services), which was the intelligence service of World War II, was disbanded and eventually became the CIA. At that point the Cold War was just starting to move under way and we were at odds with the Soviets.
The Air Force was brand new and supposedly in control of the skies and didn't know what they were doing, and the CIA didn't know what they were doing, so Pres. Truman was in a big problem here: Here people were telling him there were aliens around and nobody knew if they were hostile or what they were and what was he going to do about it?
So he formed a committee, a very high-level military and academic and intelligent people -- politically powerful people -- and said 'You guys work on this.' And that was called ... the MAJIC 12. And they did pass a National Security Act, or so I'm told, under highly classified auspices, that gave this committee virtually unlimited power to deal with this issue, which they have done for the last 60 years, slowly excluding everybody -- including presidents.
You may remember that Pres. Clinton tried to send (Webster) Hubbell to find out about this at Wright Patterson. He got rejected. And Barry Goldwater, back in the '60s when he was getting ready to run for the presidency and who was a brigadier general in the Air Force Reserve tried to get information about it. He got rejected. And I'm told that Jerry Ford tried to do some finding out and he got rejected.
Jimmy Carter announced his observation of UFOs, but that never went anywhere so obviously he made no progress. Only in recent years has the public interest become acute enough and enough stories leaked out so that people are starting to believe that it's all real. And the fact of the matter is, it is.
They're still around and there's a lot of stuff going on.
Are you aware of the so-called Phoenix Lights Incident? That wasn't our stuff.
IK: I'm sorry. Can you say that again?

EM: Lights. Just a few years ago. Three humongous craft flew over Phoenix, very slowly in the middle of the night that clearly were not -- I happened to be on the phone with people out there when that happened and have had pictures of it -- clearly those were not, to those of us who know aviation and spacecraft, clearly those were not local stuff, home-grown stuff.
IK: So you're saying the incidences are becoming more prevalent among the general public? People are having their own sightings?
EM: Just several weeks ago, this so-called incident at Stephenville, in Stephenville, Texas. Another one. And naturally a lot of discounting and unfortunately the press, the giggle factor got up and the press tended to ignore it, but the fact of the matter is this is the real stuff we're dealing with. We're not alone in the universe. And it has nothing to do with NASA. As far as I know it has to do with what's going on and has been going on for a long time.
IK: As a man of science and engineering, how did you make this leap from doing what you needed to do to be an astronaut to what you're doing today?
EM: Because I was told by people who were utterly sworn to secrecy under severe penalty if they talked and because I'd been to the moon, because I was a local resident of Roswell when the so-called Roswell incident took place, some of them thought I was a safe person to tell before they passed on so that the knowledge didn't die. There are others like me, people out here who have done an enormous amount of investigation who have seen through the facade and seen through the cover-up and can talk chapter and verse, better than I can. We know it's real.
IK: Can you describe what changed you after you were in space? How did that happen?
EM: Well I've got a research foundation that has been working on that problem for 37 years.
I was coming back from the moon after completing a successful mission on the moon. My job was being responsible for the lunar spacecraft for the lunar surface activities. So on the way home, my successful job had been mostly completed and we were just coming home. We still had experiments and work to do, but the big stuff was done.
We were orientated such and rotating in order to keep the thermal balance of the spacecraft so that every two minutes you could see the Earth, the moon, the sun and a 360-degree panorama of the heavens came through the window every two minutes. That's powerful stuff, particularly since it's space. Without the atmosphere to block, the stars don't twinkle, and there's 10 times as many as you could possibly see on Earth because of the lack of interference and it's much closer to what you could see through the Hubble Telescope these days, with those pictures and I hope you've looked at some of those: it's overwhelming -- and I realized as that happened, because I do have a PhD from MIT and I studied astronomy at Harvard and MIT and knew that molecules of matter in my body and in the spacecraft and in my partners' bodies were made in some ancient generation of stars. That's where matter is created.
Suddenly I realized that the molecules in my body were created in an ancient generation of stars and suddenly that became personal and visceral, not intellectual and I had never had this experience. It was accompanied by bliss, an ecstasy I had never experienced.
Later -- and I'm making this long story short -- with some discovery and some help from scientists at Rice University in Houston, I discovered in ancient transcripts that this type of experience -- a transformational, transcendental experience where you see things as you perceive them but experience them viscerally and emotionally as one, as a part of it -- is called samadhi. In doing more research, I found that it has taken place in every culture on Earth. The political and cultural expression of that turns out to be religion.
The experience is the same -- a heady, overwhelming experience. But when it gets politicized, put into the culture, those things get lost on the people who had the experience and it becomes something else. So that's what it was: a deep, deep cultural experience that is in the culture of our civilization in hundreds of places.
IK: Is that what the Noetic Institute is for? To bring this consciousness ...
EM: I'm trying to use the tools of science to understand precisely these types of knowledge.
IK: Wow, that's quite a calling.
EM: That's exactly what I've spent the last 35 years doing.
IK: What's the tie-in between this pursuit and your experiences with understanding that there are other life forms that have come to Earth?
EM: Well it's just an extension of the cosmology of what's this whole universe about and what are we about and coming to the conclusion that we are not alone. That's some of the most important knowledge that we could discover.

All were cleared to work in the U.S. after having their backgrounds "bleached" by the military; false employment histories were provided, and their previous Nazi affiliations were expunged from the record. The paperclips that secured newly-minted background details to their personnel files gave the operation its name.

The Montauk Project

Various conspiracy theorists claim that experiments began in earnest from 1982 through to 1987-1988. They claim that during this time one, some or all of the following occurred at the site. The following claims are entirely unverified:

* Experiments were conducted in teleportation, parallel dimensions and time travel.
* On or about on August 12, 1983 the time travel project at Camp Hero interlocked in hyperspace with the original Project Rainbow back in 1943. The USS Eldridge was drawn into hyperspace and trapped there. Two men, Al Bielek and Duncan Cameron both claim to have leaped from the deck of the USS Eldridge while it was in hyperspace and ended up after a period of severe disorientation at Camp Hero in the year 1983 at Montauk Point. Here they claim to have met John von Neumann, a famous physicist and mathematician, even though he died in 1957. John Von Neumann had supposedly worked on the original Philadelphia Experiment, but the United States Navy denies this.
* A “porthole (portal) in time” was created which allowed researchers to travel anywhere in time or space. This was developed into a stable “Time Tunnel.” Underground tunnels with abandoned cultural archives were explored on Mars using this technique where apparently some kind of “Martians” had once lived many thousands and thousands of years earlier.
* Contact was made with alien extraterrestrials through the Time Tunnel and advanced kinds of ‘etheric technology’ was exchanged with them which enhanced the Montauk Project. This allowed broader access to hyperspace. Stewart Swerdlow also developed the “language of hyperspace”, utilizing archetypes and glyphs as well as colour and tone, in other words, a “non-linguistic language”, the language of the Creator, that is God itself. However many researchers have questioned the validity of Swerdlow and what he actually did within the Montauk Project.
* Enrico Chekov, a Spanish-Russian dissident, reported in 1988, after defecting to America, that satellite surveillance captured during the 1970s showed the formation of a large bubble of space-time centered on the site, lending further support to the D1 Base Time Tunnel research. After Chekov shared photographs with a reporter from the The New York Times, his apartment in Manhattan was burgled and the photos were all that was taken.
* People had their psychic abilities enhanced to the point where they could materialize objects out of thin air. Stewart Swerdlow claims to have been involved in the Montauk Project, and as a result, he says, his “psionic” faculties were boosted, but at the cost of emotional and psychological instability, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other issues, including being programmed with microchips, and also through the use of “psychotronic mind control”. An alien supposedly designed a chair, which an individual could sit in to boost his mental and precipatory powers. A prototype duplicate was given to Britain and put in a facility on the River Thames.
* The facility was expanded to as many as twelve levels and several hundred workers. Some reports have the facility extending under the town of Montauk itself and interconnected with vast maglev tunnel networks to other “Deep Underground Military Bases”, also known as “D1 Bases”.
* Nikola Tesla, whose death was faked in a conspiracy, was the chief director of operations at the base (which if they started in the 80s would make him 120+).
* Mass psychological experiments, such as the use of enormous subliminal messages projects and the creation of a “Men in Black” corps to confuse and frighten the public, were invented there.

After funding was in place, work allegedly began at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) on Long Island, New York under the name of the "Phoenix Project", but the project soon required a large and advanced radar dish. The United States Air Force had a decommissioned base at Montauk, New York, not far from BNL, which had a complete SAGE radar installation. The site was large and remote, with Montauk Point not yet a tourist attraction. Water access supposedly allowed equipment to be moved in and out undetected. Key to the Montauk Project allegations, the SAGE radar worked on a frequency of 400 MHz - 425 MHz, providing access to the range of 410 MHz - 420 MHz signals said by theory proponents to influence the human mind.

Equipment was moved to Camp Hero at Montauk AFS in 1967-1968, and installed in a "Deep Underground Military Base" that the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) were redeveloping and expanding beneath Montauk AFS on the surface at Montauk Point. According to conspiracy theorists, to mask the nature of the project the site was closed in 1969 and donated as a wildlife refuge, with the provision that everything underground within the "D1 Base" would remain the property of the United States Air Force.

Project MK-ULTRA, or MKULTRA, was the code name for a covert CIA mind-control and chemical interrogation research program, run by the Office of Scientific Intelligence. This official U.S. government program began in the early 1950s, continuing at least through the late 1960s, and it used United States citizens as its test subjects.[1][2][3] The published evidence indicates that Project MK-ULTRA involved the surreptitious use of many types of drugs, as well as other methods, to manipulate individual mental states and to alter brain function.

Project MK-ULTRA was first brought to wide public attention in 1975 by the U.S. Congress, through investigations by the Church Committee, and by a presidential commission known as the Rockefeller Commission. Investigative efforts were hampered by the fact that CIA Director Richard Helms ordered all MK-ULTRA files destroyed in 1973; the Church Committee and Rockefeller Commission investigations relied on the sworn testimony of direct participants and on the relatively small number of documents that survived Helms' destruction order.[4]

Although the CIA insists that MK-ULTRA-type experiments have been abandoned, 14-year CIA veteran Victor Marchetti has stated in various interviews that the CIA routinely conducts disinformation campaigns and that CIA mind control research continued. In a 1977 interview, Marchetti specifically called the CIA claim that MK-ULTRA was abandoned a "cover story."[5][6]

On the Senate floor in 1977, Senator Ted Kennedy said:

The Deputy Director of the CIA revealed that over thirty universities and institutions were involved in an "extensive testing and experimentation" program which included covert drug tests on unwitting citizens "at all social levels, high and low, native Americans and foreign." Several of these tests involved the administration of LSD to "unwitting subjects in social situations." At least one death, that of Dr. Olson, resulted from these activities. The Agency itself acknowledged that these tests made little scientific sense. The agents doing the monitoring were not qualified scientific observers.[7]

Multiplying universes: How many is the multiverse?

HOW many universes are there? Cosmologists Andrei Linde and Vitaly Vanchurin at Stanford University in California calculate that the number dwarfs the 10500 universes postulated in string theory, and raise the provocative notion that the answer may depend on the human brain.

The idea that there is more than one universe, each with its own laws of physics, arises out of several different theories, including string theory and cosmic inflation. This concept of a "multiverse" could explain a puzzling mystery - why dark energy, the furtive force that is accelerating the expansion of space, appears improbably fine-tuned for life. With a large number of universes, there is bound to be one that has a dark energy value like ours.

Calculating the probability of observing this value - and other features of the cosmos - depends on how many universes of various kinds populate the multiverse. String theory describes 10500 universes, but that just counts different vacuum states, which are like the blank canvases upon which universes are painted. The features of each canvas determine what the overall painting will look like - such as the laws of physics in that universe - but not the details.

Thanks to the randomness of quantum mechanics, two identical vacuum states can end up as very different universes. Small quantum fluctuations in the very early universe are stretched to astronomical scales by inflation, the period of faster-than-light expansion just after the big bang. These fluctuations lay down a gravitational blueprint that eventually determines the placement of stars and galaxies across the sky. Small differences in the form of these fluctuations can produce a universe in which the Milky Way is slightly bigger, or closer to its neighbours.

So just how many of these different universes can inflation's quantum fluctuations produce? According to Linde and Vanchurin, the total is about 101010,000,000 - that's a 10 raised to a number ending with 10 million zeros (arxiv.org/abs/0910.1589). Suddenly string theory's multiverse of 10500 universes is looking rather claustrophobic.

It might be, however, that this number is irrelevant, and that in a world ruled by quantum physics what matters is how many universes a single observer can distinguish. "Before quantum mechanics," says Linde, "we thought that 'reality' was a well-defined word." In classical physics, observers are irrelevant - we simply want to know how many universes exist.

According to quantum physics, observers affect the systems they measure (see "Restricted view"). If observers are an integral part of the cosmic formula, then it may not matter how many universes exist - just how many a single observer can tell apart. If the observer is a person, that depends on how many bits of information the brain can process. "Based on the number of synapses in a typical brain, a human observer can register 1016," says Linde. That means humans can differentiate 101016 universes, which is much more manageable than the 101010,000,000 Linde and Vanchurin found to start with.

But does the human brain really play a role in making predictions in the multiverse? "This goes deep into philosophy," Linde says. "It's a slippery slope."

Cosmologist Alex Vilenkin of Tufts University in Boston is equally ambivalent. "It could be right that what is important is what an observer sees," he says. "But there might be things an observer doesn't see that are still there."

Restricted view

Quantum theory splits the world into two parts: the system under study and the rest of the world, which contains the observer. The system hovers in a ghostly state of near-existence made up of a host of possibilities until the observer makes a measurement - and so reduces this to a single reality.

Cosmology suffers from the paradox that no observer can be outside the universe - so the universe is doomed to spend eternity as nothing more than a vague possibility. The lesson of quantum cosmology is that we can't talk about the universe as a whole, but only what a given observer inside it might measure. Applying that lesson to the multiverse, Andrei Linde and Vitaly Vanchurin suggest that what matters is not the total number of possible universes, but the number of universes a single observer could distinguish.

If that observer is a human, the brain limits the amount of information they can register. But any observer - even an inanimate one such as a galaxy - is limited in the information it can store. These limitations in what observers can measure whittle down the number of universes that come into play in cosmological predictions. That means an observer might make a difference in explaining the value of things like dark energy.

Cause and effect is pretty easy to understand. I pick up a remote control, press the power button and my TV turns on. Me pressing the power button is the cause, the TV turning on is the effect. We all learned about it in grade school.

But what if that were reversed? What if my TV turned on, and that caused me in the past to press the power button on the remote control? It goes against everything we think we know about the way the universe works, but that is the essence of the theory of retrocausality. The effect
creates the cause. It sounds like something straight out of the pages of science fiction, but many scientists today believe that retrocausality could be a real phenomenon.

From wikipedia: Retrocausality (also called retro-causation, backward causation and similar terms) is any of several hypothetical phenomena or processes that reverse causality, allowing an effect to occur before its cause.

According to Paul March from a Talk Polywell comment: Dr. Cramer's retrocausal experiment should be completed by the end of this year. And if verified it would buttress Dr. Woodward's M-E (Mach Effect) arguments and provide a path to finally merging GRT (General relativity) with QM (Quantum Mechanics).

A Brief History of Retrocausality Experiments: 35 years ago, Helmut Schmidt pioneered studies on the effects of human intention on random event generators (REGs) — machines which generate a string of qubits that can be imagined as a stream of coins flipping in the air. Using REG data which were prerecorded and unobserved, Schmidt showed that his subjects were able to influence selected heads or tails events which had occurred up to six days earlier. More recently, Brenda Dunne and Robert Jahn (PEAR) conducted close to 87,000 similar (and statistically significant) REG/RPK experiments. Elmar Grubers retrocausation experiments (PK Effects on Pre-Recorded Group Behaviour of Living Systems European Journal of Parapsychology, 3, 1980, 167-75) showed that conscious intention can seemingly influence the past activity of both animals and humans. In one of the human trials, the effect size was 0.74, which is over twenty-three times greater than the effect size of most prescription drugs (0.032). These studies — and numerous others involving everything from steel marbles to human skin conductance and heart rate — have shown the apparent effect that conscious intent has on altering events which have already occurred... Or, at least, events which have already occurred from our commonly held perspective.

In a race against the Nazis to develop an atomic bomb, the USA assigned leading scientists like Albert Einstein from all over the world to The Manhattan Project, an incredible scientific, engineering and manufacturing feat which would have everlasting global consequences. This documentary examines the Manhattan Project through government files, archival footage and accounts of surviving members of the developing team, including Paul Tibbets, pilot of the Enola Gay, and directors of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Allthough the atomic bomb was never officially used after worldwar 2, the potential danger and risk is still there and shold not be underestimated.

Saharan Solar Project

If just 0.3% of the Saharan Desert was used for a concentrating solar plant, it would produce enough power to provide all of Europe with clean renewable energy. That is why 20 blue chip German companies are gathering together next month to discuss plans and investments to create such a massive project. Both the meeting and project are being promoted by the Desertec Foundation, which is proposing to erect 100 GW of concentrating solar power plants throughout Northern Africa.

The red squares in the above map represent the land area necessary to meet the energy demand of the world, the EU and MENA in 2005. The last square represents the land necessary for the proposed project to generate 100 GW of concentrating solar power. The project being proposed by Desertec would not all be situated in one location, but scattered throughout politically stable countries. Taken as a whole, the project qualifies as the world’s largest solar installation – 80 times larger than the PG&E and BrightSource project planned for the Mojave Desert. The power generated would be transported over high-voltage DC lines across the Mediterranean Sea to Europe, where it would supply 15% of the energy demand. The project is still 10-15 years from going online, but that’s why major players are getting started now.
Companies like Siemens, Deutsche Bank, energy companies RWE and E.on, as well as the German insurer Munich Re are all interested in getting involved despite the financial crisis. All of the companies claim that this is how they are fighting back against climate change, and that in order to avoid an energy crisis in 2050 they have to start building now. To build the 100 GWs worth of solar power a total of €400bn investment is needed.

Even more frightening than the energy crisis is the water scarcity that is set to occur even sooner. Taking this into account, the project hopes to combine desalination plants and agriculture along with the solar plants to provide fresh drinking water and grow crops in arid desert region. Concentrated solar power will provide energy and waste heat to create freshwater from seawater. Some of that water would then be used to irrigate nearby crops, while the rest would supply fresh drinking water to local populations. This concept is very similar to the Sahara Forest Project, which we explored last year.
Herman Scheer, President of the European Association for Renewable Energy is disappointed that these companies are considering such large scale projects and not distributed generation at the demand centers, and says that the Desertec project is “highly problematic” due to sand storms, dealing with foreign countries, meeting deadlines and so on. Others contend that large scale projects such as this are the fastest way to meet our energy demands and are a far better option than continuing buring fossil fuels. We’ll certainly be keeping tabs on this exciting project to see how it progresses.
