Message Board Code of Conduct

In addition to the Station's Terms of Service, we expect you to follow some additional rules.

Generally, you may post anything written in a courteous and mature manner, providing that it is on-topic for the forum. This includes posts that disagree with the way that the developers operate the game. We won't interfere with your communication so long as the presentation is constructive and appropriate. Don't use the forums to discuss private issues. If you have an issue with another player or group, take it up with them personally.
Don't solicit to join a guild or conduct guild recruitment on the general discussion boards. Please use the galaxy forums specifically set up for this.
Don't use the forums as staging grounds for planning disruptive activities or to promote general unrest in the form of sit-ins, polls, petitions, etc.
Don't post exploits, cheats, hacks, or links to websites or other forums that contain such material. If you want to let the SWG team know about an issue like this, please send a private message.
Don't post images or information obtained by hacking or parsing the client files.
Don't use the forums to advertise the sale of characters, items or in-game currency for real-world money.
Don't advertise websites with content that violates these rules, the Star Wars Galaxies EULA or the Station Terms of Service.
Do not post - or place in a signature - material (threads, posts, links, images, videos, ect), that promotes the use of, demonstrates, or endorses illegal substances as determined by substance abuse laws in the United States of America.
Don't advertise products or websites that are not related to Star Wars Galaxies or Sony Online Entertainment products.
Do not begin or take part in political discussions in any forum, including General Any Topic or the galaxy forums. This also includes signature images on the forums; please do not use your signature to endorse a political candidate.
Do not make posts that inquire about, contain the same information as, or comment on other removed or locked posts/topics - provided that a Moderator has not said so otherwise. If you have an issue with a Moderator action, send the respective Moderator a private message.
Don't make posts soliciting feedback about Customer Service resolutions. All requests and feedback about Customer Service issues should be handled through tickets or emails using the Knowledge Base. (www.station.sony.com/kb)

These rules apply to the forums as well as the private message system. Please note that these rules also apply to communication to any Sony Online Entertainment employees, including email.

Signature & Avatar Policies

* The current maxium size allowed for a forum avatar is 130px by 130px. Anything found above this size will be subject to removal.

* The current maxium size allowed for a signature is 500px by 150px and 1500KB. Anything found above this size will be subject to removal.

* Political and religious images or text are not allowed in signatures or avatars.

Consequences

If you fail to adhere to the rules, here are a few of the actions that might be taken against you, based on the severity of the violation.

Editing of post or signature
Removal of the ability to have a signature or link and image posting privileges
Deletion of the post or thread
Locking of the thread
A warning on record attached to the player's account. Warnings are given for less severe message board infractions. Any player that receives three warnings for misconduct will be banned.
Suspension, resulting in the user being unable to access any Star Wars Galaxies forum, or play Star Wars Galaxies for the duration of the suspension at the discretion of the community team. Any subsequent warnings after a suspension will result in banishment.
Banishment, resulting in the user's forum posting privileges revoked. At the discretion of the community team, the user's access to Star Wars Galaxies may also be removed along with their Station account closed.
Legal action

Those who violate the rules of the message boards may or may not receive any warning before action is taken. In the event that a warning is given, the warning will be recorded on the player's game account and may result in further action should the player show a pattern of engaging in prohibited conduct. Philosophically and administratively, there is no difference between conduct in-game and conduct on the Official Forums.

Helpful Guidelines

Here are a few tips and hints on proper forum etiquette and a couple of helpful guidelines to get your post noticed.

A well-written post will get a lot more attention than a grammatical topic trick any day, so let common courtesy prevail.
Keep your thoughts short and sweet.
Negative comments are completely acceptable, but only when done in terms of constructive criticism. If you've got a beef with something, make your case clear and propose alternatives.
Please don't call out SWG team members. We may not always be able to respond to every thread posted to the boards, but we do read the overwhelming majority of them.
Avoid sending private messages to developers asking gameplay-related questions. When we can answer questions posted about general gameplay, we will. We won't however, reveal anything privately that we won't reveal in public.
Don't send private messages asking SOE folks to read a particular thread.

SOE Forum Usage Guidelines

actually. What i was thinking I could do was create a toon on each server and create 2 crystals, for now, for a city near mos eisley that have a great reputation for helping players. 1 to collect and 1 to sell. Then spread out to other planets on the server as we move along.

So when I got to the city for each server someone could trade me two cystals, I tune them, and trade back. Something along those lines. Maybe a badge for all guilde members as well.

thanks so much. I really want to give the "wow" treatment for the new people coming in. I remember going with some friends on level 90 missions and that was really fun. I also remember, when I was realllll new, flying by house and not having any idea you could go inside them. lol

From a new player looking to get into something like this on a server that isn't already capped city wise, its a good FF.
As a mayor of a tier2 city on a server that is capped and likely to stay that way for years to come it makes me wanna go find a way around the server caps just to get a little bit of enjoyment in my city.
Hmm... how about we remove the caps on tier3 cities? Pass that along please Drak and I'll see about finding some cookiees to pass along to you guys.

Thanks everyone that came by. Our city should be at level 4 now after this next pulse. I think I handed out 14 houses and sold one tuned crystal at our vendor. That allowed me to tip credits to the new people that moved in as well as some nice tips to the entertainers in the cantina on mos eisley. Found 3 new players tonight to SWG and now they have a home in SWG too. Thanks again.

thanks. sort of my goal and glad you agreed. I found 3 new players tonight, set them up with houses, some credits, and other things to get them started out in SWG. I enjoy helping the new players and bringing them into the larger community. I am sure I would be way past level 50 by now but I like showing the people with less experience than myself how to get around. Most weeks I group up with at least 2-3 new people in Mos Eisley and help them get through a chunk of their quests.

building a community is a broader audience well at least for those that are wanting to either be in a community or start one of their own. lol Believe or not there are players not a level 90 and /or multi-year vets like myself that would like to learn how to do these things. Thanks for the input though. The Friday features will change topics all the time not to worry. In a few days there will be another one and on a totally different topic I can assure you. I know the guy that writes them.
