Clarke Quay, river embankment, part of the Singapore River area, located in the Central Region. Clarke Quay stretches from Read Bridge at North Boat Quay to Ord Road/Ord Bridge and right towards River Valley Road. It was named after Lieutenant-General Sir Andrew Clarke, second Governor of the Straits Settlements.

The quay was most active in the days when the Singapore River was the focal point of trading activities. The most modern Shopping and Hotel complex at Clarke Quay is Liang Court, built in 1984. At Tye Place still stand many of the original brick warehouses and godowns of the early days. Converting these storage spaces to commercial use gave Clarke Quay its unique village-like ambiance, a new lease of life. Kuala Lumpur City Centre - KLCC, Petronas Tower, Twin Tower....hehehe it's the same, what ever they call it, it is still the tallest building we can find in Kuala Lumpur. I was amazed for the first time, I see already the iconic tower featured in the TV ^_^. The towers have been featured in films, television, books, and even video games and are recognized for their distinctive style, the reason why I feel so happy, at last! I see it already in person and it's real..aw...syempre..it's real, pastilan!

A pair of slender shafts rise above the city. They are slick in appearance because of the glass curtain walls, but still have a pleasant tactile appearance because of the scalloping of the shafts to create high-rent views.

this way please ^_^, I wonder what's inside...shall we go in? hmmm...but for how much...hahaha..

it's real...I'm standing already right in front of KLCC - obvious...^_^

Joining the two towers is a sky bridge at the 41st and 42nd floors. It stretches 192 feet across the gap to link the two buildings from 558 feet above ground. It is, unfortunately, supported by a truss structure, rather than something more evocative of the rest of the building.

FYI: 88 stories with 32,000 windows, amazing!!!

Kuala Lumpur may be has so many places to see but because of tight budget we've seen not much. But yes we were able to observed the people and their culture. At first it's a bit creepy walking and riding to a public vehicle, but then for several days of staying in the City we start to feel comfortable and secure. That means, the line that says: first impression, last long...is not really true, hmmm may be for some..^_^

First Impression: Hmmm...(thinking!) why are the dolphins here are Pink? my friend jokingly answered me, may be they are old enough and still a loyal employee (employee? hahaha) I mean performer of Dolphin Lagoon- we laugh...so funny ha! ^_^ Though we joke each other but yes it's true,"their color turns into pink as they mature".

The pool has about 30 million liters of filtered sea water with a rough estimated cost about 3M Singapore Dollar. Whew! that's a lot of money.

There are a total of 6 dolphins which live in a 4.5 meter tank to resemble their natural habitat. As for the guest, visitors of the show, hundreds of chairs with a covered shades, placed around the pool with matching stall for drinks, chips and popcorn before the show start.

First major stop of the day. Underwater World Singapore. With there 2500 marine life from 250 species, provides fun, leisure, educational experience and excitement to all their guest. The S$25.90 admission plus the fur seal and pink dolphin show, the money spent for this experience was truly worth it.

As we enter, we are greeted with brightly colored corals and exotic ocean dwellers (including moray eels, sea dragons and jelly fishes). Before we embark on a spectacular underwater journey through the 83-meter-long moving travelator with a tunnel housing the majestic rays, fearsome sharks, great shoals of other fishes and a host of other creatures that inhabit the ocean depths.

Nory and Ailes enjoyed a lot playing the fish near entrance.

At the end of the underwater tunnel experience, they said that we should not missed out the rare opportunity to exchange some playful glances with the graceful dugong, Gracie - however, we've missed that chance 'coz we are on a hurry at the same time for the Fur Seal and Pink Dolphin Show. Whew! Sayang! Anyway, we can always come back...hehehe, sarap talaga pag libre. Special credit to our friendship - Aileen ^_^.

Batu Caves was promoted as a place of worship by K. Thamboosamy Pillai, an Indian trader. He was inspired by the 'vel'-shaped entrance of the main cave and was inspired to dedicate a temple to Lord Muruga within the caves.

In 1890, Pillai, who also founded the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Kuala Lumpur, installed the murti (consecrated statue) of Sri Subramania Swamy in what is today known as the Temple Cave. Since 1892, the Thaipusam festival in the Tamil month of Thai (which falls in late January/early February) has been celebrated there.

Standing at 42.7 m (140 ft) high, the world's tallest statue of Murugan, a Hindu deity, is located outside Batu Caves, near the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The statue, which cost approximately 24 million rupees, is made of 1550 cubic metres of concrete, 250 tonnes of steel bars and 300 litres of gold paint brought in from neighboring Thailand.

Rising almost 100 m above the ground, the Batu Caves temple complex consists of three main caves and a few smaller ones. The biggest, referred to as Cathedral Cave or Temple Cave, has a 100 m-high ceiling and features ornate Hindu shrines. To reach it, visitors must climb a steep flight of 272 steps.

The limestone forming Batu Caves is said to be around 400 million years old. Some of the cave entrances were used as shelters by the indigenous Temuan people (a tribe of Orang Asli).

Nature, Flora and Fauna. There are various undeveloped caves which contain a diverse range of cave fauna, including some unique species, such as Liphistiidae spiders and Eonycteris and Rousettus fruit bats. The site is also well known for its numerous macaque monkeys, which visitors feed — sometimes involuntarily. These monkeys may also pose a biting hazard to tourists (especially small children) as they can be quite territorial.

Me and my friend decided to take a side trip going to Kuala Lumpur. Since this is the first time we went to Malaysia, we decided to take a Coach or Bus instead of flying in an airplane. Well, the only difference is the traveling time. Airplane 30-40 mins you will land already in Kuala Lumpur but on Bus it takes 5 hrs to 5hrs and half to reach the KL.

The first week I arrived Singapore as if nothing happens on my first Saturday, but the next Saturday after and up to present I keep attending the famous Saturday Novena at Novena Church. At first, I'm expecting the usual novena that we practice in Philippines but surprisingly it wasn't. They have the Priest leading the celebration and they have the booklet for the Novena which I purchase as well for S$1.50 without cover. I purchased such in order for me to participate as well specially the songs and the answer of the Prayer/s.

Novena Church was built by 1950 and the popular Saturday Novenas began in January 1949 and were heavily publicised in 1951. To cope with the expanding congregation over the years, many additions were added to the original church building. In recent years, the old Administrative Building was torn down in 1997 and the modern St. Clement Pastoral Centre was built. Pews were later added to the verandas in 1998 to increase the seating capacity.

After attending the Novena, we usually sat down and chat at KFC in Novena Square, but this time it's not KFC as we meet one of my college friend - Karen and take us to the food court. From their we've tried the native halo-halo (hehehe forgot how they call it here). Basta! I'm surprised with their bocarillo 'coz it's green. Usually bocarillo is white or light brown but here it was totally green. If you are craving halohalo better try this.


Food Trip! Right at the lobby of Novena Square, there were so many different singaporean delicacies. Yummy as I look at them but I really haven't tried it. I saw here as well a hanging rice and they call it here as KETUPAT.

Today, Novena was quite busy in preparation for the celebration of Mama Mary's Birthday which will be this coming September 8.

During World War II, Singapore was conquered and occupied by the Japanese Empire from 1942 to 1945. When the war ended, Singapore reverted to British control, with increasing levels of self-government being granted, culminating in Singapore's merger with the Federation of Malaya to form Malaysia in 1963. However, social unrest and disputes between Singapore's ruling People's Action Party and Malaysia's Alliance Party resulted in Singapore's separation from Malaysia. Singapore became an independent republic on 9 August 1965.

Facing severe unemployment and a housing crisis, Singapore embarked on a modernisation programme that focused on establishing a manufacturing industry, developing large public housing estates and investing heavily on public education.

Singapore's modern history commenced from 1819 at the arrival of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, a British East India Company officer, who found Singapore as a "British Trading Post". On 6 February 1819, Raffles signed a formal treaty to guarantee Singapore as a British trading post with Sultan Hussein of Johor and the Temenggong, two governors of the island at that time. There were hundreds of human skulls lying around the jungles. Those skulls might belong to Siamese and Javanese forces. Anyway, there were groups of Malay, and Chinese already living there. All seemed well only shortly when the Dutch forces exposed their anger toward Raffles' defiant action as he moved to settle in Singapore as a threat to obstruct Dutch sovereignty in the Dutch East Indies. Between 1819 and 1824, Raffles had pushed Singapore up so high beyond the prospects of Raffles himself, Hastings, and anyone else in the British East Indies Company with its trade surpassed that of Penang.

Before 1824, the Dutch administrators signed the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of March 1824 with the British authority which conceded the power upon Singapore in exchange for Dutch acquirement of the British outpost at Bencoolen. And so in 1824, Singapore's status under the British possession was divided into 2 new treaties. The first one was the Dutch treaty agreed to British occupation of Singapore in March 1824, while the second treaty was made with Temenggong and Sultan Hussein in August, which Singapore sold out right to the British for better financial status and pensions.

After how many weeks roaming Singapore at last now I'm here at Merlions Park. Singapores famous landmark, the Merlion.

The Merlion, is a creature with a lion’s head and the body of a fish. The "Singa" or lion represents the animal that a Sumatran prince saw which resembled a lion and the fish is a tribute to Singapore's history as "Temasek" or sea town which represents Singapore's origin as a fishing village . The statue was completed in 1972, and measures 8.6 metres (26 feet) high and weighs 40 tonnes.

They said, The Merlion was originally located at the Esplanade Bridge, about 20 meters from its current location and was shifted in 2002. And now, it is already adjacent to One Fullerton Hotel.

It was an expected event that me and my friends was able to join and witness their cuteness. At first I was not that interested but seeing the smurf with different character pulled me over and take pictures with them.

Now we are standing at this very area ( Bugis Junction). First time and very excited to see more what's with Bugis 'coz we've heard so much about it specially when we talk about food and shopping. Aha! Shopping, shopping for SGD 15- 20 and you can take 2-3 items already, but of course that would depend on what item you buy. ^_^

food tripping...hmmm! everything was very interesting but none of them is my type or wala lang budget? hehehe partly!

souvenir items bags, blouses, dresses, shoes, sandals, slippers, wallet, fashion accessories for men, women and even for kids are all here for a very good and reasonable price.

HOW TO GET THERE? that would depend on your location, but best advised is to check the http://gothere.sg and plot your itinerary of the day. Well, Singapore is a small country and very safe, so if your lost for sure you'll find your way home by asking those people around you or else get a taxi cab.

Umbrella is ready, the sun is up, the weather is go good, friends are here and ready for the Sentosa Island Tour. Since we tour with limited budget, we just go there with our top up card via monorail for S$2.00 only. Since the weather is to hot, we decided to take one stop for now. We stop first at Waterfront City, where the Universal Studio is located.

The island is packed with so much attraction such as Universal Studio, Voyage de la Vie, Festive Walk and soon to open the Marine Life Park.

I keep mentioning the Universal Studio...hehehe, well, it gives so much for those young and young at heart. It feature the movie themed attractions which is very unique in Singapore. We will be entertained with Shrek and it's Far Away Castle, The mummy, Madagascar and Jurassic Park Adventure.

So many rides to choose with, signature shopping, festive walk, hotels and restaurants around the island. It was truly one of the ideal place to visit with either come with family or come with friends for fun or for bonding.

Check the picture on the right, What do you expect on that? hmmm a beach? somewhat if not mistaken. This is actually a waterpark at the roof top of Vivo City. Waterpark at the roof top, isn't that amazing? Will, for me Yes. ^_^

Since its opening in April 2010, the Marina Bay Sands has become an icon of Asia’s tourism industry with its innovative design and comprehensive functions.

Located in the heart of Singapore’s central business district, it has everything a tourist would want ― a luxury hotel, shopping, theaters, leisure activities, restaurants and casinos among others. But take note, I'm only here to take some picture and mingle to different races. Sosyal ! Well, roaming around with my Friends, we are really amazed of what we've seen. Branded Botique, Jewelry Shops, so many coffee shops to choose with and etc.

Well, I'm expecting that with the size of this Hotel, with the number of rooms that they have, I'm thinking that no way this Hotel will be full, but surprisingly around 11: 00 am when I was standing to one of the Customer Service there, there we're several traveling van and bus arriving and Guess start coming in and out the hall way. They are checking in. Wow! I'm thinking that may be this people are here for the Formula 1 Race and they checked in as early as possible but again I'm wrong. I spoke to one of the concierge of the hotel and they said that it's no longer usual for them that they have so many visitor's customer everyday. "ika nga, hotel na, may theater, malls, restaurant at may sky park kapa."

Marina Bay Sand from the heart of Singapore - what a beautiful sunset, it was reflecting to the MBS as if the MBS has a huge light from there skypark.

The sun is down and we are still watching the famous icon in Asia's Tourism.

Me and my friend is heading towards Serangoon, I was kinda interested and stop on this Temple. Curious of what was inside but I wasn't able to go in 'coz there was a celebration happen that time.

History

The Temple was founded as a small shrine by Tamil Hindu residents of Potong Pasir who wanted the protection of Mother Goddess and to sustain their cultural heritage. It was developed under B. Govindasamy Chettiar, pioneer labour contractor to the port of Singapore, philanthropist and Indian community leader.

Before B. Govindasamy Chettiar's death, he requested his nephew and son-in-law the late S.L. Perumal to build a new main tower the "Rajakopuram" and other additions to the Vadapathirakaliamman Temple.S.L. Perumal agreed and kept his word. When Hindu devotees worship here they feel the sanctity of this house of worship. S.L. Perumal built the present Temple at his own expense.

Singapore has mixed races and I notice here that most of it are Chinese, Malay and Indian. They have Little India and Chinatown.

East Coast has a lot to offer, with there Theme: "Recreation for All". The place is ideal for Bicycling, Jogging, Sightseeing, Kite Flying, Inline Skating, Watersports and Dining. You might wondering why they offer so many activities here. Well, they only have lang naman a total land area of 185-hectares, and a scenic coastline that stretches over 15 kms. This place is one of the Singapore's most treasured urban gateway.

Hindi ka magugutom dito, right at the center in Area C, they have so many restaurant and they even have Mc Donals, Subway, Burger King and etc.

With my 4th day here in Singapore, for sure I'll come back here at East Coast to roam from Area A to Area H. Siguro naman 3 hrs renting a Bicycle will do na to finished the 185 hectares.

I'm excited to land Singapore, though we arrived at the Changi Airport very late, my energy was still high and excited to get my first picture and my first posting about what I have seen, been and done here at SG.

Fountain of Wealth at the Center of Suntec Towers

We took a taxi going to my friends house and we are surprised that we rode a taxi with a Lady Driver. Wow! I forgot to carry my bag and the driver said something in Malaysian which I don't understand. Hehehe, I was kinda Silent! and she said " are you surprise of having a Lady Driver?" I smiled and said YES! and told her that I haven't seen in Phil. a Lady Taxi Driver. The Driver smiled on us and start chatting with her job as a Lady Taxi Driver and give us a heads up of which taxi to pick up. WHITE and BLACK Taxi are more expensive compared to the colored taxi. She added that as a tourist, we need to take note also the time and the special or additional charges. She is referring actually the peak hour and the mid night add-on from the actual rate.

If happen that you don't know really the exact location of the house, the driver has a GPS built in on their taxi to easily locate the address, Bonga! then no need for you to worry what to answer to the driver if she/he will ask you the specific location. Unlike sa atoa, taxi Driver should be given a landmark first before they finally send us to right spot.

Moving forward, my first day was kinda stressful, My friend just give us the instructions how to get to the City 'coz she cannot come with us. We took our chance by getting to the SUNTEC City asking the driver with my famous line "Uncle, please drop us to the nearest bus top at (place), we reach the place and start strolling. My first impression was, WHY? ^_^ (looking at the street) I mean, where are the people? I'm expecting a busy street, busy mall and many people, yon naman pala, the people are at the underground part of the mall or crossing via underpass and not at the pedestrian. "Hadlok guro ligsan" hehehe!

Waiting for something? or lost?

Singapore is very good on their building constructions, a very organized city, very clean and very safe. Transportation are very convenient, less traffic, so many hawkers and so many shopping center to choose from.

Wanted to shop on the top Brand in the world? you can find that here, Gucci, LV, Armani, Hermes, Prada and etc. You can really have a huge selection here if you want to shop and dine. Take note, you can even have large selection of luxury cars.

And lastly, my TOP 1 for today: A cold 1.5 Liter Coke is worth $2 SGD and the 1.5 Liter Coke place outside the fridge is $1.70 SGD. Hehehe! Hmmm! pariho lang nman sila Coke but with different price ^_^. Meaning we are paying on the difference... ^_^ Anyway so much for that.

It was a busy week. Sunday of July 12, after shift, we started to trained and played basketball. Whaa! ouch, that's my first reaction. Stretching, jogging, rulings, defense and the actual game. Hehehe as expected it was a very tough game and day for me, good thing it's my rest day the following day. Monday July 13, the team decided to get our own uniform, so we rush to the tailoring and have our sizes so that they can release the uniform by Friday. Friday morning were everyone was already excited to have the uniform, we received the notice that it was not yet done. :-O everyone was starting to worried. So we went then to the shop, Saturday morning after shift. When we got in to the shop, we've seen the uniform - unfinished, the tailor are all busy, placing the patches. At last! after 5 hours of waiting, everything was done. Whew! it really requires time and patience just to get the uniform finished before Sunday of July 19.

July 19- presentation of the Team, avah! Red Team, bonga! We get our own muse and we have our own banner. During the actual game, the crowd cheer on our Team, you know why? it was like a Team mismatch. The read team player stands from 5 ft to 5'2" compared to the opponent that aside form the built they are have this training ahead of time.

Anyway, the day end up with a very good experience to each one of us. As for me, it was my first time and I really enjoyed, learned and sweat a lot....lol.
