Robotics Workshop - Introduction to Basic Electronics and Robots

With a motive to promote Robotics in Higher Secondary School (Bikrant Poudel, Binayak Tiwari, Rohit Singh and Sabin Adhikari ), we have designed 5 days course-, the basics electronics to the Microcontroller training (AVR).

31 Students took part on the robotics workshop from the Caribbean Higher Secondary School and Omega International School.

The first day of Program :

Students were divided into two groups. Introduction to basic electronics and basic programming concept were delivered. Students were eager to learn and participate.

The second day of the Program :

Basic LED Blinking Program was implemented on AVR Development board. LDR based Switching sytem was taught.

Robotics Workshop (Timer 555 )

Robotics and Arts !!

Timer 555 workshop was held with a motive to build circuit producing cricket sound. The main motto of the program was to interact robotics and art. The complete circuit is to be displayed at Art Expo with the art concept of Anil Udaya.We are planning to create an environment where the cricket sound is produced by the circuits.

Bijay conducted the session introduction of the basic electronics, where he was able to explain resistors, capacitors diodes, comparators and other basic circuits.

Manoj explained about the working mechanism of IC 555 Timer . Students were able to grab the knowledge of flip-flops, the architecture, working principle and applications of IC555 timer. The different modes of timer were clearly discussed.
Sumesh described the circuit diagram of the Cricket.

The students were able to get the basic concept of Timer 555, producing the sound of cricket circuit.

The main objective of the program was to fuse the arts and robotics. The completed circuit will be displayed at Art Expo. Other further projects are going to be carried out promoting Robotics and Art. Robotics Club Kathmandu Engineering College is taking a lead for it .

Around 46 students participated in the workshop. The students were from Electronics, Elcetrical, and Computer faculty.

Promote Robotics and Embedded System at Higher School

This year I dream of taking classes and helping students in the field of Robotics. I shall conduct different programs and training at Higher School Levels and share the knowledge I have gained so far.

Robotics and Art:

Along with few of my friends, we shall conduct the programs promoting street art and technology combining. Few ideas are at my head, shall try my best to implement it.

Travel :

I want to travel this year to few of the best places of my country. Will shall save my earnings or my expenses and shall travel to the unknown places. Let it be done , When I am young wild and free.

Let me meet new people, learn new culture, learn new ideas.

we were working together to build line tracking robot. On the day of competition, our robot was not working. The lessons learnt from the event :
1. We build the robot which was able to track the line, but we wanted a better robot, high speed. so we were working on new algorithm, sleepless nights, and at the last moment we were unable to work and complete it. So at competition we were disqualified.

We were able to design smart wheel chair for the different groups of physically disabled people.
The main features of chair were : Joystick Controlled, Head Movement Control, and Speech Control. This Project was appreciated by supervisors. We were able to win Locus 2013 Competition on Open Hardware Competition.

The old grand mothers are happy to come and hold others children, sharing their time, helping them. They are meeting once a week, and talking, singing, dancing, and they are happy. This reminds me of my country, my old grandfather who is probably 89 or 92.
When I go home during my holidays. Early morning, at 7, I just go to see my grandparents at my old house. My grandfather is busy studying the books, reading about Dharmas. I just listen him, and say him to explain the jest of the the readings. He smiles and say, okay I will say you. He talks about the rich behavior of God Krishna. The way of his thinking, the justice he gave to the people and pandav brothers.
I see a similar smile on his face, when he is explaining about it. He is happy . :)

Positive attitude of people is most. Even a small gesture of your;s can help to make others people day. I too believe in this philosophy. Actually, I even try it in my day to day life. Sometimes, I just smile while riding bike to the unknown people at my side at traffic jams, some responds by giving a positive smile, some just ignore them.

I remember myself being a student of school and higher secondary school. I tried to gain practical knowledge. The resource that were available at my school was minimum. I still remember my school teachers who are great inspirational source.

Presently, I am engineering student. I am enrolled on 4th year, first part. During these years of engineering, I came to learn more about robotics and embedded system. At the second year of engineering, I first build line tracking robot. When I google about it, I saw the students at the age of 13,14 at the foreign school are doing better projects than us. So, why don't we promote educational workshop and training to promote robotics and school level. Along with my few friends,we decided to conduct workshop and teach higher secondary school students. Currently, we have fixed the date to conduct a workshop on two reputed higher secondary school at kathmandu. we am excited about it .

ROBOWEEK WORKSHOP

Robotics club has organized a week-long event “ROBOWEEK”. A workshop was conducted for the students of first year from electronics and communication, computer and electrical faculty as a part of the ROBOWEEK. The workshop provided the students with basic electronics knowledge and ability to design and build simple robots through hands on experience.

Short information about it :

Smart Wheel Chair is mechanically controlled devices designed to have self-
mobility with the help of the user command. This reduces the user’s human effort
and force to drive the wheels for wheelchair .Furthermore it also provides an
opportunity for visually or physically impaired persons to move from one place to
another. The wheelchair is also provided with obstacle detection system which
reduces the chance of collision while on the journey.

Smart wheelchair has gained a lot of interests in the recent times. These devices
are useful especially in transportation from one place to another. The machines
can also be used in old age homes where the old age persons have difficulty in
their movements. The devices serve as a boon for those who have lost their
Different types of smart wheelchair have been developed in the past but the new
generations of wheelchairs are being developed and used which features the use
of artificial intelligence and hence leaves a little to tinker about to the user who
uses the wheel chair. The project also aims to build a similar wheel chair which
would have a sort of intelligence and hence helps the user on his/her movement.

Bir Hospital- "Cleaning & Painting"

What may the best way to celebrate Saturday???

It was a great time today, with social activists who believe and have attitude “YES WE CAN”,

YES WE CAN !!!!!

learning and enjoying the painting and cleaning program at Bir-Hospital. Bir- Hospital being the oldest hospital in Nation provides service to people free of cost and to some department at minimum cost.

I saw lots of positive vibes with “YES” attitude, working hard to make hospital areas clean and my little brothers and sisters from art-group flowing their creative arts at the walls of the Bir-Hospital.

Currently, Bir-Hospital only has the proper waste management system in the Nation. It utilizes almost all the waste materials and changes them to gases and others forms. It is great to know about such initiation, by seeing these waste management system others hospitals are also taking an initiation to manage the waste materials propely.

The thing that got struck in my mind was the oldest hospital has only around 400 beds. They provide around 150 beds for free of cost and others beds are available at minimum charge of Rs. 100.

It was very sad to know being the oldest Hospital and only the hospital that provides maximum facilities has only 400 beds to serve the patients from all over the country.

Doesn’t Hospital receive the government-grants to promote and expands its facilities?

Truth to be told, Most people prefer to others hospitals compare to that of Bir, due to its slow serving services, and this hospital has been famous for only for the class of have-not.

Lesson of the Day:

What I really aspect from all my friends, colleagues, brothers and sisters who participated at the cleaning and painting campaign today to take an oath that when we will be capable to feed ourselves, earn and start to built our lives, just donate a sum, an amount that really can contribute to make hospital better. Not this

hospital but the hospital of your area, your village, your hometown, where the patients can get best facility of Medical Services and doesn’t need to move capital city in the seek of proper medical services.

I don’t know where I will be after 10 years, but I am sure I will be contributing a certain sum of amount that I earned to the fields where my small help will a difference.

I didn’t participated at any special events at AIDS day but I did something better this December. While Participating in the Cleaning and painting program at Bir- Hospital, I got a chance to play with colors.

Truly be told, I have never before got a chance to do wall painting. Well, there were few public events for street art but due to college time and studies, I couldn’t attend any of them.

This Saturday, at Bir-Hospital, the idea of Safe Sex and Condoms just hit my mind while we (Ashim and Me) were planning to start wall Art. Tried to remember something more but …………………….. Mind is Empty……… soon got something interesting, a clear message at the walls of Bir-Hospital.

Again this is the third time I received his call, and today the matter was different to talk. My class was running, so I cancelled his call. But call continued, so I picked up. Today, his voice was passive and he was totally not the same old friend who was speaking to me. Certainly, something bad has happened. My response towards him was normal; I answered him to see after my college.
It was half an hour left for class to be end. Something is not going well. I remembered his faces at college, his charming face, with enthusiastic hopes and critical judgment over the political scenario of the country. He was an inspiring person in my life. Someday, we are goanna be at the powerful post, and utmost to our capacity we will serve our nation to our best. It was a worthwhile promise we kept among our circles.
Lunch time, 15 minutes for lunch, another 15-25 minutes, discussion, and criticism over the issues related to economic, socio-political, literature, youth, sharing information and views. It was the best part of our college days. I remember him, as a future political leader of our country with a diverse knowledge from the devas of religion, to the Black holes of scientific paper works, from the Ruwanda political situation towards the growing economic plans that Asian nations were adopting.
During two years, I got answers of mine responsibilities. It was their support who built up my confidence power high and their support to make me believe to listen towards my heart. They were my friends, my circle who were the most inspiring buddies of my College.
After the intermediate exams we started for a rush to get admission towards institutes for the preparation of engineering bridge course classes. It was he, who dreamt of achieving Masters Degree in hydrology and P.H.D in the related field. He denied for going to institution with us. He did not mentioned reason for it, but he said he has something important stuffs at home.
After few days I got a call from him, he was moving towards Delhi for the preparation classes of IIT, and it was amazing and surprising news to me. I was very much happy for his decision. We had a long talk, and promised to be in touch in this global world through internet.
He was in touch through message at face book, sometimes had a video chat at yahoo. We talked about the achievement that India has, compared the situation between two countries, the metro facility, the transportation, power supply, economic development efforts, bihar situation. In our talks, we found the situation of Nepal worst and a little hope for its betterment. At last, we always had a feeling we are there for making our country.
The methods and learning hours at his institute was around 8 hours and the teaching method was the best. He used to share how teachers acted with students, dream of being a successful engineer. Every time we talked, he said he was learning more, understanding physics, chemistry, and mathematics as like he was discovering them.
His IIT exams were near, he was confident, he has given his best efforts for the studies, he enjoyed a lot learning them, he said, he has given one whole year for the preparation of IIT, in India; students start to prepare it from the early grade 8. But he never lose a hope, he did his best at exam. He was confident, it was hard for him to get his names enrolled at the IIT toppers but he could do his best at Indian Embassy exams at Kathmandu, and receive the scholarship to India at NIT.
He was back to his home country, prepared hard for his exams and finally gave Embassy exams, he was confident if there are really fair seats available then I am going to get scholarship.
Half an hour passed, the college class ended for today, I headed directly towards his room. While seeing him at fresh condition at room, I was quite happy.
At room, I got an answer, I got a scholarship.
I congratulated him.
He said, I got a scholarship at B.Sc. Dairy Tech. not at engineering.
That was the answer which I really don’t want to listen.
So we had a conversation walked towards nearby Krishna Temple, and had a talk about the studies. His father told him to proceed further studies at Dairy Tech showing t he scope of Dairy Tech. Actually he was planning to proceed his studies further on payment towards NIT colleges at India. Father had sent money towards his bank account the day before of result. Now the situation got worst condition.
Many relatives gives him a call, encourage him to proceed his studies at Dairy Tech. he has no idea how to make convince them he interest was not in Dairy Tech.
He was a man, who had a great devotion towards his country, his interest on hydrology Engineering. His knowledge towards the field of hydrology was awesome, he knew where he can work, but the fortune took over the other side.
The last alternative was to wait for IOE examination of Nepal; he doesn’t wants to precede his further studies at Nepal. He wants a degree from one of the most recognized NIT of the world. The main problem came was the communication gap generation. If he had told: if he wanted to study Medical, then parents will pay money for his donation without hesitation. But he wanted to do engineering in the civil field, which his father hates, the matter is not about money but the matter is about the field selection.

Lastly, he listened of his hearts, got an admission at Trichy University, no. 1 NIT College at India, studying Civil Engineering.

Youth Advocacy and Action for Accountability and Responsibility

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: Youth Initiative, in association with USAID Nepal and Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal, organized ‘Youth Advocacy and Action for Accountability and Responsibility’ on August 9 and 10 at Malla Hotel, Lainchaur.

The two day workshop for Nepali youth leaders and other interested youth covered the impending issues of the country’s development, peace process and constitution making.

The workshop also held discussions on tentative solutions to those issues, and designing innovative programs for youth-led organizations and movements.

The workshop started with opening remarks from David C Atteberry, USAID’s Mission Director to Nepal.

Rajendra Mulmi, director of program at Search for Common Ground, who is active in peace building initiatives, began his presentation describing youth as incentive seeking, opportunity seeking and change seeking.

With a picture showing a cartoon of man carrying a snake and woman carrying a ladder, symbolizing the game Snakes and Ladder, he explained that youth can play the role of both spoilers as well as agents of change.

He also tried to show how youth are being used as mere puppets for political, national, commercial and social interests.

In his concluding remarks, he shared his personal experience that he learnt from his years of involvement in youth activism. “Hating politics is not the answer, let’s talk about it,” said Mulmi, and added, “One of the most important lesson I have learnt is: Together we can.”

After Mulmi, Rabindra Mishra, the head of BBC World Nepali Service, talked about the need of youth’s participation for raising voice on issues obstructing the country’s development, particularly corruption and impunity.

Emphasizing on people’s attitude, Mishra said, “There is no harmony between what we say and how we act. We are indifferent to our responsibilities.”

He pointed out hypocrisy and escapism as the problems of our society. “It’s time that we all transcend personal boundaries and do something for the country and people. Politics has immense possibilities, but unfortunately capable people from good families don’t enter politics,” he said.

Program Advisor of The Asia Foundation, Bishnu Sapkota, spoke about the key issues impeding the peace process and constitution writing. He pointed out ideological differences among parties as the main obstacle.

He also talked about how youth can contribute to the process. Sapkota said that we are unclear about how the history of modern Nepal is to be written.

The next speaker at the workshop, Anil Chitrakar, a social entrepreneur, talked during an interactive session about youth’s role in the affairs of the country.

“Nepali people are excellent individually but collectively, we are a failure,” said Chitrakar using pictures from recent newspaper articles to interconnect things he wanted to explain during his presentation. “We need to work smart rather than working hard,” he said.

While talking about ways to minimize corruption, Chitrakar said, “One way to end corruption is to introduce information technology in all government offices. The less human interaction there is, the less corruption there will be.”

The participants at the workshop had an informative and enlightening session with Dr Bhimarjun Acharya, a constitutional lawyer, who spoke on the constitution drafting process and the importance of timely constitution.

Acharya introduced the participants to a ‘content driven constitution’ and ‘process driven constitution.’ He also talked about different constitution models practiced around the world

and informed that Nepal has a hybrid model.

Acharya was of the view that it is unscientific to talk about ethnic states as it can divide the nation. He wrapped up his presentation saying, “I’m proud that Nepal’s constituent assembly is one of the most inclusive, but it can be proven that federalism is the opposite of inclusive, and we don’t need to go to federalism.”

After an informative session from Acharya, Allen Bailochan Tuladhar, country director of Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal, discussed how youth can effectively use freely available IT and social media networks for innovative youth-led social movements.

“We can get our voices heard among leaders and other people without having to cross the physical barriers, when we use IT,” he said.

Summing up the workshop, Anita Thapa, president of Youth Initiative, said, “The program was organized with a view to share expert insights on contemporary issues and to help develop different skills like public speaking among the youth.”

My first encounter with street kids was at Durbarmarg. I was assisting my sister for taking photos for a photography contest. As soon as I saw a group of street kids sniffing Glue, I started to take snaps. I got a quick response, with slangs words from these kids. I thought these are only the kids, whom I can handle easily, so I started to behave in rude manner, and was trying to threaten them. But soon this group of kids started to come with stones in hand, asking reason why you are clicking our photos? Can you click our photos without giving money?

To be away from these kids, I tried to give Rs 10 note, but these guys started to bargain, can you click photos only on Rs. 10? They were having stones in their hands. So escape from them, we went to the restaurant behind us. We spent around half an hour at restaurant; still these kids were outside hotel with stones in hand. This was my first interaction with street kids; I was too much scared from them. At last, one of hotel staff convinced the street kids, we have to delete their photos and they let us go.

From the day onwards, I was too scary to stand nearer to street kids. These kids, who don’t care about their own life, sniffing in Glue, what about their future?? Addicted to Glue, they may encounter many problems in near future, from robbing to gangster they may be, and end up their life at streets with drugs.

In December 2010, I got a chance to meet Maharjan Juju, who was working for street children, to uplift their life. His current campaign “tea for Free”, provides tea to street kids once a week, and building emotional relationships by dealing in their life. Juju da works as an active youth activist, “Organic Farming, tea for free to street kids, was his works.

After meeting juju da and heart beat members, I gain a lot of information about street life. I started to talk with street kids, my fear was gone away. The most important lesson I got, “changing street people life is really difficult.”

They love their freedom, their life with glue, they don’t care about their future, they don’t fear of dying. For them they want to get engulf with glue and it was hard to improve their condition.

Heart-beat team members were the most wonderful people I met, they get enrolled with these kids in their day to day life and started to have emotional attachment. They started to teach street kids photography, understood their feelings, help them with medical care and support, providing umbrella at monsoon season. It is really hard to change the life of street, their effort for changing life is continue, and I feel proud to work with this team, as a “youth messenger”, as a volunteer.I am able to change my own behaviors towards street kids, now I am able to talk with them, about their families, their street life, I don’t give them money but rather provide foods and snacks for them so that they will be happy.

Gossip – Friendship day and friends

At schools there were no mobile phones with us, but greeting cards were so special; greeting cards exchange, quotation and greeting of friendship day, and pray for studies. I am not expecting a greeting card this friendship day but remembering those school friends, those beautiful moments with them. I will never forget those days, when most of time I used to spent chatting with beautiful girls of my class.

When I was too small, at that time postcards of Hero and Heroine were the best present to give at friendship day.

Friendship is a life time journey … friends are a part of every happiness and sadness.

“I am thankful to God for the bad time where I got my friends to show the right path and supported at bad time “.

I miss the moments with you all when we used to have a long discussion, regarding politics, literature, business, and developmental issues, our roles towards country. These friends helped me to gain more knowledge. I was also being motivated by these friends to do more good works, learn more. It is the best part of my college life.

I also got a chance to meet the coolest guys over valley, they were rock-stars, their love for music, and the way they rocked the stage program, street festivals, and it was one of the best time I ever had with you guys.

A friend of mine, her phone calls and troubling me at midnight, I hate these types of jokes at that time but remembering today this friend is one of the best buddies I ever had. The messages exchange and talks at the last moment before leaving Nepal, I think I will never forget.

The texts I received with inspiring quotation and poems, suggestion for doing good works and forgiving for my mistake what I have done from a close friends is the best part of day to day life.

प्राकृतिक सम्पदाको अथाह स्रोतले भरिएको हाम्रो देश आफैंमा विविधतापूर्ण छ । क्षेत्र—क्षेत्र बीच पाईने भौगोलिक विषमता आफैंमा चुनौती र सम्भावना बोकेर उभिएको छ । झन् विगतको दशक लामो सशस्त्र द्वन्द्व तथा त्यसको असरले सामाजिक संरचना त भत्काएको छ नै त्यसको साथै प्राविधिक विकासको संभावनालाई पनि पर हुत्याई दिएको छ । एकातिर देशको समग्र अवस्था नै दारुण छ भने अर्को तिर देशका भोलिका देश विकासका खम्वाहरु मानिने युवाहरुको अवस्था त झन् निराशाजनक छ । चुलिदै गएको चुनौति र हुर्किदै गएको निराशा बिच उनीहरुको टेक्ने ठाउँ आम युवाहरुको धारणामा त्यति सहज छैन । यी सबै निराशा र कुण्ठाहरु बिच थपिरहको अर्को डरलाग्दो चुनौति हो प्रतिभा पलायन (Brain drain) । दक्ष एवं अर्धदक्ष जनशक्ति समय र मौका मिल्नासाथ परदेशको बाटो ताकि हाल्दछन् र बाँकी जति पनि जनशक्ति छ , उनीहरु पनि उपयुक्त जागीर वा उनीहरुको आशा पुरा हुन नसकेको देखि मानसिक तनाब झेलिराखेका हुन्छन् । यत्रो युवा जन शक्ति जसलाई पूर्ण रुपमा सदुपयोग गर्न सकिन्थ्यो, यत्रो अल्मल्याहट किन ? समस्या समाधानको साँचो आखिर यहिनेरै उभिएको छ ।

त्यसैले युवाको विग्रदों मानसिक दशा एवं परनिर्भताको बाध्यात्मक अवस्थालाई मेटाउनको निम्ति युवाले आफ्नो भूमिका खेल्न ठाउँ पाउने कार्यहरुको सृजना हुनुपर्छ । त्यसैले स्थानीय स्तरका युवाहरुलाई स्थानीय स्रोत साधन र सीपको सदुपयोग हुनेगरी त्यहीको क्षेत्रमा मिल्न सक्ने हुने किसिमको कुनै पनि कार्यक्रमहरु लैजान सकियो भने युवाहरु परिचालित हुने अवसर पाउँछन् । कार्यक्रमको स्तर हेरेर स्थानीय युवाहरुलाई उनीहरुकै सीपको कदर हुने गरि उनीहरुलाई परिचालन गर्न सकियो भने उनीहरुमा क्षमता अभिबृद्धि हुने छ, यसबाट बेरोजगार युवाहरुको संख्यात्मक मात्रा घट्ने छ । साथै आफ्नो घर अगाडी रहेको गैरी खेत बेचेर अरबियन मुलुकका भूमिमा परदेशी भएर सस्तो तलबमा काम गर्नु पर्ने बाध्यता पनि निकै हदसम्म घट्ने छ । विकासको मुल प्रवाहबाट वञ्चित रहेका जनताहरुलाई प्रविधि सम्म पहुचँ र्पुयाई उनीहरुको जीवनयापनलाई सहज सरल बनाउनु अपरिहार्य छ । त्यसैले विकासको जग बलियो बनाउन राज्य रुपान्तरण प्रकृयालाई सकारात्मक मार्गमा लम्काउन र विपन्न र पिछडीएका जनताको घर दैलोमा दिगो विकासको चहकिलो बत्ति बाल्न पुर्वाधार प्रविधी अत्यन्त आवश्यक छ ।

यसै परिपेक्षमा ग्रामीण पूर्वाधार विकास समूह नेपाल ले ग्रामीण समुदायको आयस्तर वुद्धि गर्नको लागि दक्ष, अर्धदक्ष तथा अदक्ष युवाहरुको संयुक्त प्रयासमा सहकार्य गरेर कार्यान्वयन गर्न सकिने पूर्वाधार प्रविधीहरुको विकास गरेको छ । पूर्वाधार प्रविधिको रुपमा अधिकतम स्थानीय स्रोत साधनको प्रयोग गरेर स्वदेशी प्राविधिक जनशक्ति र अन्य युवा शक्तिको संयुक्त प्रयासमा लघुजलविद्युत तथा साना जलविद्युतबाट विद्युत उत्पादन गरेर दिवा समयमा खेर जाने विजुलीबाट यातायातको साधनको रुपमा स्थानीय रज्जुमार्ग, लगायत विभिन्न औद्योगिक क्रियाकलापहरु उपयुक्त ढंगले संचालन गर्नु आजको आवश्यकता हो । आजको युग प्रविधिकको युग हो, प्रविधिको विकास विना देश विकास सम्भव छैन । विदेशी उच्च प्रविधि आँफैमा अत्यन्त महँगा हुन्छन् । त्यसैले नेपालको दिगो विकासका लागि उपयुक्त प्रविधिहरुको खोज, अनुसन्धान तथा पहिचान गरि पूर्वाधार प्रविधिहरुको विकास लाई प्रमुख प्राथमिकता दिनु पर्छ । परम्परागत प्रविधिहरुको अध्ययन, अनुसन्धान गरी तिनीहरुको स्थानीय मान्यतालाई कायमराख्दै अन्तराष्ट्रिय मापदन्डसम्म पु¥याउनु पर्दछ ।

असीमित प्राकृतिक सम्पदाको धनी देश नेपालको ८३ प्रतिशत भू–भाग पहाडै पहाडले ढाकेको छ । तिनै पहाडहरुको खोचमा अवस्थित करीव ६,००० को संख्यामा रहेका नदीनालाको उपस्थिति का कारण आज हाम्रो देश विश्वसामु तुलनात्मक रुपमा जलसम्पदाको धनी देशको रुपमा चिनिएको छ । तर तिनै नदीनालाको उपस्थिति दुर्गम पहाडी भेगमा बसोबास गर्ने किसानहरुका लागि चाहि अभिशाप बन्न पुगेको छ । किनभने नदीको अर्को किनारमा रहेको बजार क्षेत्र वा सडकसम्म पुग्न केवल पाँच मिनेट लाग्ने बाटोलाई पनि तिनै खोलानालाको कारण वैकल्पिक बाटोको रुपमा २–३ घण्टाभन्दा बढी हिंड्नुपर्ने बाध्यता रहेको छ । साथै शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, रोजगार समेतबाट बन्चित बन्नुपर्दा उनीहरुको जीवन कष्टमय बन्दै गएको छ ।

स्थानीय स्तरमा उत्पादित विद्युत शक्तिबाट संचालन भई दुर्गम पहाडी भेगका किसानहरुलाई व्यापारीहरु सँग सम्पर्कमा आउन, उनीहरुका कृषिउत्पादन वेचविखनलाई प्राथमिकता दिन, उनीहरु नदी पारीको गाँउ÷बजारमा भएका शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, रोजगारबाट वन्चित नहोउन् भन्ने उद्देश्यका साथ दिवा समयमा, खेर गैरहेको विद्युत शक्तिको प्रयोगबाट संचालन हुने परम्परागत तुईन घिर्लीङलाई मेकानाईज्ड गरी नेपालमा विद्युत शक्तिबाट संचालन हुने खोला तर्ने नयाँ प्रविधिको रुपमा मेकानाईज्ड वृज (Mechanized Bridge) अर्थात् यान्त्रिक पुलको विकास गरिएको हो। उक्त यान्त्रिक पुल विश्व बैंकको सहयोगार्थ नेपाल विकास बजार मञ्चले द्वन्द्व प्रभावित क्षेत्रहरुको गरिवी निवारणको लागि उपयुक्त प्रस्ताव “लौन अब त केहि गरौ” नाराका साथै आयोजना गरेको देशव्यापी प्रतियोगितामा उत्कृष्ट ठहरिएको परियोजना हो । हाल यो तनहँुको दुलेगौडा गाविसस्थित कोत्रेबाट कास्की जील्लाको भरत पोखरी गाविसको पूँडीटारमा सेती नदी माथि ५२० मिटरको लम्वाइ र २५ मीटरको उचाइ भिन्नतामा निर्माण सफलता पुर्वक सम्पन्न भइ विगत २ वर्ष देखि सञ्चालित भैरहहेको छ भने गरिवी निवारण कोष तथा स्थानीय पहलमा सिन्धुली जिल्लाको टाँडी गा. वि. स. अन्र्तगत धनसरी र उदयपुर जिल्लाको त्रिवेणी गा. वि. स. अन्र्तगत वेलसोत विच कमला नदी माथी ६३५ मी लामो यान्त्रिक पुलको निर्माण अन्तिम चरणमा पुगेको छ । दुवै आयोजनाहरु ग्रामीण पूर्वाधार विकास समूह नेपाल (ग्रीड नेपाल), र एकिकृत प्रविधि विकास नेपाल ललितपुरको नेतृत्व, पहल, डिजाइन, उत्पादनमा जडित छन ।

उद्देश्य

यस प्रविधि विकासका उद्देश्यहरु निम्न अनुसार छन् ः–

   स्थानीय स्तरमा उपलब्ध स्रोत साधन र जनशक्तिको अधिकतम प्रयोग गरी स्थानीय स्तरमा उत्पादित विद्युत शक्तिको प्रयोगबाट दुर्गम पहाडी भेगका बासिन्दाहरुलाई बजार क्षेत्रमा सम्पर्क   गराई शिक्षा, स्वाथ्य, रोजगारका अवसरहरुको श्रृजना गर्ने ।
   स्थानीय उद्दमीहरुलाई औद्योगिक कृयाकलापमा सक्रिय हुन हौसला प्रदान गर्ने ।
   नेपालमा रोपवे प्रविधिको व्यापक विकास र विस्तार गर्ने ।
   नेपाली परम्पपरागत तुईन घिर्लीङ्ग प्रविधिलाई विकसित गराई स्थानीय मर्म तथा अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय मापदण्डलाई मध्यनजर राख्दै रोपवे तथा केवल कारसंग परिचीत गराउने ।
   दुर्गम क्षेत्रमा उत्पादन हुने कृषिजन्य उत्पादनहरु समयमा नै बजार क्षेत्र पु¥याई बिक्री वितरण गरी ग्रामीण जनजिवनको जिवनस्तर अभिवृद्धि गर्न सघाउ पु¥याउने ।
   नेपाली प्रविधिकहरुको मनोबल बढाई देशमा वढ्दै गैरहेको प्रतिभापलायनलाई निरुत्साहित गर्ने ।

मेकानाइज्ड बृजले कसरी काम गर्छ त ?

मेकानाइज्ड वृज दोहोरो लठ्ठा दोहोरो दिशामा आधारित (Bi-Cable Bi-Directional) रोप वे हो । स्थानीय स्तरमा उत्पादित विद्युत्शक्ति नै यसको प्रमुख इन्धन हो । साथैे डिजेलबाट चल्ने जेनेरेटर वैकल्पिक इन्धनको रुपमा व्यवस्था गरिएको हुन्छ । विद्युत्शक्ति र डिजेल दुबै उपलब्ध नभएको अवस्थामा तेस्रो विकल्पको रुपमा मानवशक्तिकै आधारमा सञ्चालन गरेर खोला पारी तर्न सकिन्छ । नियन्त्रण इकाइ (Control Panel) बाट स्विच दवाए पछि २५ अश्व शक्तिको (Horse Power, HP) मोर्टारले फित्ता (Belt) को सहायताले गियर बक्स घुमाउन थाल्छ र गियर वक्समा फलामको चक्का (Sheave) लाई तेर्सो पारि गाँसिएको हुन्छ । यसले गर्दा लठ्ठा घुम्दा बाँया किनाराको ट्रली दायाँ किनारा आइपुग्छ र दायाँ किनाराको ट्रली स्वतः बायाँ किनारा आइपुग्छ । अपरेटरले आवश्यकता अनुसार गति बढाउन तथा घटाउनका लागि क्लच सिस्टम (Clutch system) र ब्रेक सिस्टम (Break System) को पनि व्यवस्था गरिएको हुन्छ । यात्री बस्ने कोक्रो (Trolley) रोक्नको लागी प्लेटफर्म र ड्रााइभ सचेतक (Sensor) को ब्यवस्था गरिइकाृ हुन्छ भने सामान्य अवस्थामा अप्रेटरले सिवधको सहायताले रोक्न सक्छ । ड्राइभ टर्मिनल (Drive terminal) बाट अपरेटरले विद्युतीय मोटर चलाइदिएपछि लठ्ठा (तार) घुम्न थाल्छ जसमा ५०० के.जी. तौल सम्म पुर्ण सुरक्षित तरिकाले धान्ने गरि दुई वटा ट्रली जोडिएको हुन्छ । ट्रलीको माथिल्लो भाग लचकदार जोर्नी (Universal Joint or Ball and Socket Joint) को सहायताले भि ट्रयाक लठ्ठामा ८ ओटा पुल्लीसँग जडान गरिएको हुन्छ । अप्रेटर तथा सर्वसाधारण यात्रुहरुलाई बुझ्न सजिलो होस भनेर प्यानल वोर्डमा रातो, हरियो तथा पहेलो रङ्गका स्विचहरुको समेत ब्यवस्था गरिएको हुन्छ , विश्वब्यापी यातायात सुचकहरुका साथमा भोल्टमिटर, एमिटर, तको आपतकालिन स्विच तथा शुरु गर्ने स्विच समेतको ब्यवस्था गरिएको हुन्छ । मेकानाइज्ड बृज सञ्चालन गर्नको लागी अप्रेटरलाई सामान्य प्राविधिक तालिम दिए पछि सञ्चालन तथा सामान्य मर्मतको लागि समेत सक्षम हुन्छन ।

परम्परागत साधन तुइन÷घिलीङ्ग, प्रयोग गर्दै वारीपारी गर्नुपर्ने वाध्यताबाट मुक्ती दिने यो साधन भिराला पहाडहरुमा प्रयोग गर्न सकिन्छ । यो प्रविधि स्थानीय स्तरमा उत्पादित लघु जलविद्युत शक्तिबाट समेत संचालन हुन्छ जहाँ दिवा समयमा विद्युत शक्ति खपत गर्न नसकेर खेर गैरहेको हुन्छ । नेपाली प्राविधिकहरुद्धारा देश भित्रै उपलब्ध स्रोत साधनको अधिकतम उपभोग गरी स्थानीय जनशक्तिलाई सीप हस्तान्तरण गरी स्थानीय जनताकै सक्रिय सहभागितामा सञ्चालित हुने यो प्रविधि अत्यन्त व्यवहारिक र मौलिक छ ।

परम्परागत रुपमा प्रयोग गरिदैं आएका तुइन, घिर्लिङ र परम्परागत पुलहरु ३५० मीटरभन्दा बढी लम्बाइमा बनाउनु प्राविधिक तथा आर्थिक दृष्टिकोणले अनुपयुक्त देखिन्छन् । तर यो मेकानाईन्ड बृज १,५०० मीटरसम्मको लम्बाइमा पनि बनाउन सकिने भएकोले धेरै उपयोगी हुने देखिन्छ ।

टिकाउपन

मागका आधारमा संचालित कार्यक्रम भएकोले समुदायमा आफ्नोपनाको भावना जाग्रीत गराई योजना बनाउने कार्य देखि नै समुदायको सहभागिता हुने हुंदा उनीहरु त्यसको उचित व्यवस्थापन गर्न सक्षम हुने विश्वास लिइएको छ । उनीहरुलाई सामान्य तालिम प्रदान गरे पछि मर्मत तथा संभारको लागि पनि सक्षम हुनेछन् ।

मेकानाइज्ड वृजको प्रयोग गरी नदी वारपार गरे वापत यात्रुले समुदायले निर्धारण गरेको शुल्क तिर्ने हुँदा उक्त रकमले मर्मत संभार गर्न तथा आवश्यक पर्ने पाटपुर्जा, मेसिन फेर्न समेत समुदाय सक्षम हुने देखिन्छ । त्यसबाट पनि बचत भएको पैसा उनीहरुले आलोपालो गरी आय आर्जनका कृयाकलापहरु जस्तै तरकारी खेती, बाख्रापालन, कुुखुरापालन, अदुवा खेती, भैंसीपालन, इत्यादिका लागि सस्तो ब्याजमा ऋण प्रवाह गरी गरीब किसानहरुको जीवनस्तर समेत अभिवृद्धि गर्न सक्छन् ।

ग्रामीण जनजीवनको जीवनस्तर अभिवृद्धि गर्ने अभिप्रायले निर्माण गरिने यस मेकानाइज्ड वृजका कारण ग्रामीण जनताहरु, शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, रोजगार, कृषि उत्पादन समयमै बजारमा पु¥याई बेचविखन इत्यादि कुरामा सघाउ पुग्ने भएकाले दीर्घकालसम्म दिगो रुपमा संचालन गर्न समुदाय स्वयं सक्रिय हुनेछ ।

उपभोक्ता स्वयं लगानीकर्ता भएकोले परियोजनाको प्रत्येक चरणमा उनीहरुको सहभागिता हुन्छ । परियोजनाबाट प्राप्त प्रतिफलमा उनीहरुकै हक हुन्छ । त्यसैले उनीहरु परियोजना सञ्चालनमा हरबखत लागि पर्दछन् ।

नेपाली प्राविधिकहरुकै सक्रिय पहलमा उनीहरुकै डिजाइनबमोजिम बनेको प्रविधि भएकोले प्राविधिक समस्या आइहालेमा तुरुन्तै सम्पर्क गरी मर्मत तथा सम्भार गर्न सकिने, यी प्रविधिहरूको पार्टपुर्जाहरु नेपालभित्रै नेपाली प्राविधिकले निर्माण गरेको हुनाले स्थानीय कारखानाहरुमै सम्पूर्ण पार्टपुर्जा उपलब्ध हुने यी प्रविधिहरू नेपालको आफ्नै मौलिक उत्पादन हुन्

अनुकरणीयता

नेपाल जस्तो पहाडी जटिल धरातल भएको क्षेत्रमा एक ठाउँबाट अर्को ठाउँसम्म पुग्नका लागि तुइन, घिर्लिङ आदिको सट्टा मेकानाइज्ड बृजको अत्याधिक संभावना देखिन्छ । मेकानाइज्ड ब्रिजको सफलतासँगै स्थानीय रोपवेको स्थापना हुने भएकोले गाउँ तथा बेसीसम्म जानका लागि पनि स्थानीय रोपवेहरु प्रयोग हुनेछन् जसले गर्दा मेकानाइज्ड बृजले नेपालमा रोपवे स्थापना तथा संचालन गर्न कोषे ढुङ्गाका रुपमा महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेल्नेछ ।

निष्कर्षमा भन्नुपर्दा युवा अवस्था जोश जाँगरले भरिएको हुन्छ त्यही जोश जाँगर, सृजनशिलता र कार्य कौशलता प्रदान गर्दै दक्ष,अर्धदक्ष र अदक्ष जनशक्तिको ज्ञान, सीप र अनुभव आदनप्रदान गर्दै समुहगत रुपमा सहर्काय गर्दै राष्ट्र निर्माणमा सहभागी गराउन सके नयाँ नेपाल निर्माण त के समृद्धशालि देशहरुको अग्रपंक्तिमा उभ्याउन पनि सकिन्छ । योजनाको पहिचानका लागि सकेसम्म नेपालको भूगोल भित्र स्थानीय स्तरमा उपलव्ध स्रोतसाधन प्रविधि र जनशक्तिको व्यापक परिचालन हुनसक्ने कार्यक्रमलाई वढि महत्व दिनु पर्छ । देशको कुना काप्चामा छरिएर रहेका आन्तरिक स्रोत साधन प्रविधि र जनशक्तिको परिचालन नगरि पूर्णरुपमा वैदेशिक सहयोगको आशा र भरोसा गर्दा देश विकासको नाममा जतिसुकै ठूलो रकम भित्रिए पनि जति नै ठूलो प्रविधि भित्रिए पनि यसको उचित व्यवस्थापन, विनियोजन र आर्थिक अनुशासनको अभावले गर्दा ग्रामीण विकास ओझेलमा पर्न जान्छ अनि विकास प्रक्रिया केवल कागजी प्रतिवेदनमा मात्र सिमित रहन्छ । स्थानीय युवाहरुलाई उद्धमशीलता सम्वन्धी चेतनाको विकास गर्नु पर्छ । युवाहरुलाई ग्रामीण विकासमा व्यापक सहभागी गराउनका लागि लादिएका विकासका क्षणिक नारा र आश्वासन अनि कागजी प्रतिवेदनमा मात्र सिमित राख्न हुदैन उनीहरलाई त योजनाको प्रारम्भीक चरण देखि प्रत्यक्ष सहभागी गराई निति नीर्माण देखि योजनाको कार्यान्वयन, अनुगमन तथा मूल्याङ्कन, आदिमा स्थानीय स्तरमा उपलव्ध स्रोत, साधन, प्रविधि र जनशक्तिको अधिकतम परिचालनको रणनिति अनुरुप विकास प्रक्रिया प्रति युवाहरुलाई उत्तरदायी र जिम्मेवार वनाउनु आजको आवश्यकता हो ।

Symbolism
The blue border in the National Flag of Nepal symbolizes peace, while red
is the colour of the Rhododendron- Nepal's National flower.

The crescent moon represents the Royal House, while the Sun is the symbol of
the Rana family of Nepal.

History
Initially the sun and moon
in the National flag of Nepal had human faces, but they were removed
when the flag was updated in 1962. The flag is said to express the hope
that Nepal will endure as long as the sun and the moon exist. The
present National Flag of Nepal was adopted on December 16, 1962.

The flag of Nepal is the only national flag which is not rectangular in
shape. It is based upon two separate pennants which belonged to rival
branches of the Rana dynasty, which formerly ruled the country. The two
pennants were first joined in the last century, but it was not adopted
as the official flag until 1962, the year in which the constitutional
form of government was established in Nepal.

Transparency in Governmental and Bureaucratic Activities

A few days back, I had a small discussion with my mom and she came up with an idea which at that moment sounded brilliant to say the least. It is about having transparency in the government's activities and reports which will be done by youth groups at youth's initiative.

Asking myself a question, "Is it not my right to know where all the tax money, we pay goes, and how all activities that government plans every year are carried out?" Then I realized it is every citizen's right to know about government's activities.

As a matter of fact it is the essence of the time that the country is passing through. We ought to know where all the money allocated for development activities in the budget are spent, whether or not they are spent the right way at all.

Can CIAA assure that all of their staffs are fair and that they do not befall prey to the temptation of big bucks these corrupt current and ex-minister, the bureaucrats and the rest are willing to pay? Is their morality priceless or one that doesn't bow down to hard cash? The answer is: NO.

So what is the answer to all these loop holes and the flaws in governmental assurance to the public that they have everything covered. The answer could be youth and one new youth initiative out of many recently.

Let's form a committee of the youth, with some one from within these youth initiatives who are born leaders to lead this activity. The youth led committee will ask the government bodies for all records of activities of the government. The committee will then see the credibility of these documents and overview all government activities and prepare a report.

It doesn't have to be in a large scale, as big as the government bodies doing these jobs. It can be a small committee with groups assigned task to check the credibility of particular department of the government. They can exercise all their rights in the jurisdiction vested upon by the people- we.

This initiative can take shape even before the constitution making process is over. It can look at the wrongs hindering the peace process. This is just an idea which can be a trigger to an avalanche of other ideas. This idea is very raw, so it could be with the wisdom of the elite group heading such youth groups like Gari Khana Deu, Die Nepal Bandh DIE and Entrepreneurs for Nepal.

So please ponder upon this idea and come up with a solid plan, one that can assure full transparency in Nepal's governmental and bureaucratic activities. Peace.

Lack of a Shared Vision

While it is difficult to generalize as to the sentiments of youth as a whole in Nepal, the sense one gets from discussion with young people is that while they want to improve themselves and improve the country, they do not share a common vision for the future. There is no larger idea or set of goals towards which young people can strive and that could harness their capabilities and provide hope. This leads to the articulation of separate, rather than shared interests in many cases. Young Nepalis do not feel they receive enough support to make their own dreams realities (and indeed, often do not feel the mechanisms exist to create positive change); and also feel that politics has come to dominate decision-making processes about their own access and opportunities in a negative manner. As a result they feel they may become ‘a ‘lost generation”. During discussions, however, too often this leads to assigning of blame rather than consideration of root causes and solutions, and leads to the feeling that identities are mutually exclusive rather than complementary.

Absence of Necessary Support

Universities remain deeply politicized and (with a few exceptions) largely ineffective in providing relevant capacities to match opportunities. Small-scale efforts to help build skills or share ideas for young people are also insufficient (“like putting a teabag in a river”) and an emphasis on entrepreneurship and business is often absent. While there is a deep and impressive desire to learn in Nepal, the aim of learning is often to leave the country rather than improve conditions at home. Between 250-300,000 young people entered the employment market in Nepal last year, while only 25-30,000 jobs were available within the country, which is leading to widespread migration from the countryside to Kathmandu, and from Nepal more broadly to India, the Middle-East, Asia, North America and Europe. As a result, it is clear very quickly that rural Nepal is now largely an agrarian society of old people and children, which is rapidly changing social dynamics and rural working patterns. At the same time, despite increasing international exposure, young people sometimes seem to be somewhat unsure of Nepal’s place in the world, and how this might, or could change in the coming years.

Hope for a Better Future

Hope for a better future stems from the fact that Nepali youth are hugely energetic, altruistic, hard working, intelligent, and unanimously demonstrate a deep self-awareness and sense of collective responsibility. These are qualities that a future Nepal needs and can mobilize, if the right conditions are put in place. Young people are demanding a more inclusive, responsible and sustainable Nepali state with room for the growth of more accountable leaders from their own ranks. While large numbers of young people are still leaving the country, educated Nepalis are returning from abroad in greater numbers than previously, and this group is committed to building their lives in the country. At present, their desire for positive change within society is not anchored to a coherent agenda or framework, but could prove a dynamic force going forwards if they can build relationships across the country and find a collective direction. Nepal’s young people want to be citizens in a prosperous and dynamic country, not disenfranchised individuals within a divided one. The differences between the various segments of youth can be stark, but if these groups can overcome their differences and build on their shared future as Nepalis, the prospects for the country are very bright.

One King and 100 Hungry Leaders

Beware of the hungry dog, it might bite you. It doesn’t bark but bites.

There was a king once upon a time in the land named Nepal, people praised him as an incarnation of Lord Bishnu, and he was their God with love and trust. The kingdom was named as Peaceful Zone in the world. Kingdom was the symbol of unity, Natural Beauty, where the people like Gautama Buddha “Light of Asia” took birth.

Time changes, revolution starts, God Turns into Devil, the God with love and trust now has been a Devil with hatred. It was the time for the king to say goodbye as the king was being selfish and deteriorating his kingdom, dominating the freedom of people. Nothing last with unity, people were united and were able to throw the kingship from their land.

The nation was in the hand of general people. People elected their representatives, to rule the nation. These representative were more hungry than king. They were hungry and were fascinated by their post and forget their responsibility. They were hungry, hungry to fulfill their personnel desires, unstoppable desires; they started to make a network of their own, now there were around hundreds and hundreds of people at the power with the unstoppable desires. They forgot their oath, their duty, their responsibility.

The nation got a name of failure nation (27th in position), people were busy with their proud name to spell, and they were busy recalling their past as brave Gorkhas, Country with beautiful Mt. Everest and landscapes. They were lost in their dream. Dream from past, thinking Braver and stronger to defeat by others.

Is it the time for us still to dream of past? Isn’t it the time for us to be united? We elected people to rule us but they are busy with their unstoppable desires? Will we not stand and only watch? Are we blind or are we good at acting blind? Are we made for this? Losing our identity……… isn’t it a time to make a new identity?

An identity of Unity; being united no one can betray us ………we should be united.

Discoveries shows that, right hemisphere efficiency of performance is 90 percentage, remaining 10 percent for left hemisphere. Also, right hemisphere is active and works up to 13 years of age from birth, after that left hemisphere starts to perform its work, also the work of right hemisphere is performed by left hemisphere after 13 years of age. The efficiency of human brain is 100 percentages but scientists have found that up to 3 percentage of brain is only being utilized.

My point is that, from early childhood students are receiving the education to develop their left hemisphere. Creativity and imaginary power are not developed. If activities required for development of right hemisphere are developed, then student will get a chance to be creative and imaginative. The point is that, whether to train the students to be creative, imaginative or leave them on the environment as we are having now? Music, sports, art are the education that helps to develop our neurotransmitter for making right hemisphere of brain active.

Till today, we are judging the students by their marks and performance, we never planned to make them creative and imaginative, just we provide them knowledge and they just share the knowledge that they save in their mind. I am also the same fellow among all who got a same tag.

Madam Curie, who took out her 2 daughters from school and started to give the knowledge of music, horse riding, climbing, art,.

Her daughters are known as great writer and great scientist (Nobel Prize winner)

Barack Obama is the first black American President in the white house. Abram Lincoln was the first president who initiates the laws to end slavery system. Martin King Luther Jr., fought for the human rights of black community not only to be written at constitution but also implemented to the reality life, the constitution was drafted as a bad cheque. The world of racism discrimination is the main problem of society. Values, norms, social issues and long lasting old traditions are a part of it. Still today, there exists the classification of people as white and black, Negros and Mongolians.

Adolf Hitler bought Second World War discrimination on the Jews and Superiority of the Nazi parties.

My senior professor completed his mechanical engineering from the reputed university of India (NIIT), worked for more than 10 years at the related field. He shared his views, while he was working for a mine industry at Golf country, he was assigned a lower work at the industries, and other fellow mates who has completed their studies from the recognized university of USA, and has a low experience then him was assigned at senior post. That was a realization point, where he thought he was discriminated, it was so because he was east- Asian Negro in nature, and his fellow mates were from the white class.

Religion, social old traditions drives us to a narrower world. In context of Nepal, being a nation with four castes and 36 sub-castes, lots of social problems related to discrimination has been observed. Discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, ethics, and tribes has result breakage in the bonding relationship of brother hood.

Today’s world talks about the discrimination about the language we speak. More frequently, we use the words representing to the male society like brotherhood. The words we use like blind, deaf, mad, refers to discrimination and now new practices are brought and words like visually impaired, inability of hearing, mentally disordered.

Osho told, religion makes people bounded to the dogmas and they are not free to take decision, they are bounded in the community. Different communities have different values and there is conflict among them, thinking of superiority on their values, norms and resulting dispute between the different communities.
