In November, travel bookers will be able to shop, book and pay for transfers within New Zealand when booked in connection with flight arrangements in Sabre Online.

Here’s why you are going to love this new feature…

It is easy to use

– Nominate flight time and your pickup time will be calculated for you

– Earn Air New Zealand Airports

– Driver has your contact and flight details

– Receive confirmation instantly

It saves time

– For travel bookers and consultants by completing the entire booking in the one transaction

– Touchless for consultants at booking time with Sabre Agency Manager CCCF and auto invoice

You can set up company controls

– Prepay at time of reservation; no additional charges to assist with expense management (this is not a control – this can come under ‘easy to use’)

– Specify allowable credit cards

– Specify allowable service types

– Specify (or set) maximum spend on transfers

You can book a range of transfers

– Shuttle bus services

– Bus services

– Helicopter (Auckland only)

And did we mention that these transfers are fully integrated with Sabre Agency Manager and TripCase, so you travellers have all their trip details in one spot!

Corporate travel in the Asia Pacific region is growing fast with unprecedented demand. A recent study by Sabre revealed a very different client-servicing and content model emerging in the Asia Pacific region, enabled by the latest innovation in corporate travel technology.

Agents in Asia Pacific are now managing more travel for their corporate customers in the region whist achieving tighter cost control and with technology playing the leading role. All without compromising the comfort and happiness of travellers.

The study also unveiled seven emerging trends within the corporate travel management sector.

The seven core themes are:

Premium Economy is attracting a loyal corporate following

Secondary expenses, including ancillary services, are under tighter control

Better pre-trip planning is reducing the risk of ‘off-policy’ booking

Mobile itinerary management apps are now mainstream

Data analytics will be key to more personalized services

With more reliance on agents, a ‘concierge’ model is emerging

Technological integration (B2B2C client-servicing) is more important than ever before

Overall the responses from contributors to the Sabre Asia Pacific Corporate Travel Practices Survey was optimistic, presenting a future in which the sector will continue to grow with the need for greater insight, integration and control. Key drivers include new options such as the Premium Economy class and advances in data analytics leading to greater personalisation of travellers’ plans. These are to be presented within managed mobile travel apps aimed at reducing off-policy transactions, whilst reflecting the agent’s increasing obligations in the area of compliance and their duty of care.

Long term, some hope the client servicing model will evolve to become more B2B2C, with seamless technology that integrates with the wider industry. Technology that enables greater efficiency, expansion and innovation within the sector is therefore what the whole community wants and needs.

With today’s emergence of online solutions you would think that the dependency on a fax machine would be a thing of the distant past. However, like the old Australian PM, many travel managers still know this medium of communication all too well.

Due to hotel policies and internal procedures travel managers find that faxing is the only way that a credit card authorisation can be sent securely. The reason for this ‘old-school’ method of communication is due to credit card compliance policies. A standard fax machine is connected through a traditional telephone line, making the interception of a fax between sending and receiving nearly impossible—and Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant

Although compliant, sending credit card authorisations via fax is one of the most time consuming processes for travel management companies (TMCs) and corporate travel managers.

The solution

Virtual cards eliminate the need for an agent to manually fax card authorisations to hotels. They provide additional benefits such as fraud reduction, a securer booking process within an agent’s workflow, and an automated process of sending a credit card authorisation.

Furthermore by taking advantage of this solution there is no need to arrange a credit facility or send credit card numbers via fax to suppliers. This means less risk for data entry errors, instant reconciliation – which together provides an enhanced level of security as well as freeing up time for selling—a travel managers paradise.

The bottom line

Virtual payments eliminates the manual process of faxing payment information, cuts costs, decreases compliance risk and makes for a better traveller experience.

Managers around the world are finding that virtual cards are a solution to the time-consuming and vulnerable methods used in the past.
