I'll warn you right now, this is wordy and lengthy...please read it when you have time :)

This post has my stomach in knots already and I just started typing.

But that's only because my fingers were seriously resisting writing this post, but my heart is in a place that needs some relief. It's been weighing on me for quite some time.

Knowing me through my blog and knowing me in real life are very closely linked. Of course, I have more time to think about the funny things I want to say on my blog and you can't tell when I randomly start crying, but I'm pretty sure that's the only difference.

I am generally a private person.

I know what you're thinking. "You? Private?!"

But really. I know I air my dirty laundry from time to time but that is just to get a good laugh, and really, those guys were idiots.

But today is real talk. Like I said, my heart has been heavy.

Let me set you up:

My mom and my real dad are divorced. They have been for YEARS.

My mom is remarried to the most amazing man, Jim. It really doesn't get much better than that.

My dad is remarried for the.....5th...6th... time? I'm not sure.

I think you can see where this story is headed.

My brother's wedding was last weekend and this was the first time I saw my father in close to five years.

Five years is a long time.

I was 20. I am now 25.

Let's take it back even further.

Growing up I was a daddy's girl. He was strict, but he definitely loved us. He always pushed me in soccer and any other sport I played. Taught me to be super competitive. He taught me if I worked really hard I would always find success. He showed us this by growing his small business and becoming successful himself.

But my parents fought. I'm sure I don't have to explain this because a lot of you have been there yourself.

I look back on my first journal and it is filled with "why don't they love each other?" and "why do they yell?"

That can be answered many ways, but the main reason: My dad was a liar.

He lied about his bussinesses. He was a fraud.

He lied to my mom. My family. My friends.

Me. He lied to me.

He pretended to be apart of our family, but really was starting another family on the side.

That day will never erase from my memory. The day we finally got ahold of him (on his honeymoon) and he admitted that he married another woman and she was pregnant.

As a result, I'd say I completely fell apart. But this took course over a few years. I lashed out. I fought with my mom. I tried to run away. I lied and I drank and I did things I new were wrong.

I was so lost without my dad.

This has affected me in every aspect of my life. He shot down my dream of teaching because I wouldn't make any money.

Clearly, that wove it's way into my brain because I abandoned teaching last year.

I could go on and tell you all the ways he has negatively affected my life, but really I want to move on from that. I'll tell you the things I have learned in spite of him.

I have learned what true love is. I look at my mom and Jim and I see the most pure and simple kind of love. They enjoy spending time together. They are level headed and communicate. They laugh and play and love like I have never seen.

To say that I have been crying my way through writing this would be an understatement. I can hardly see the screen through my blurry eyes. But please know that this is real.

This is something that I hide. I tuck away in that safe place of ignoring and forgetting... but really it's always this annoying pain. It will never go away.

I wish I had a good relationship with my dad, but the fact is I know he will never change. And that's okay.

Really. I've accepted that.

And it's helped me accept others.

I hope you can appreciate this post.

I hope you can take it as getting to know me.

I hope you don't judge me for not having a relationship with my dad.

When choosing a location for my "selfies" I normally pick a place that's semi out of the way.

Bridges.

Alleys.

Dirt Roads.

Places where there is only a slight chance for onlookers.

Lately, I have been envisioning something much different.

For some reason, I have it stuck in my head that I want to be in a huge crowd of people while taking my OOTD photos.

I'm really trying to kick this here blog up a notch and I think that is exactly where I'm headed.

My weekend is taking me to Seattle for my brothers wedding and by golly, I'm going to be take selfies at the market if it kills me!

So if you're in Seattle this weekend look for the girl making a total ass of herself by the flowers.

I promise, it's a show you'll want to watch.

Let's be honest: taking pictures of yourself is always kind of awkward... throw in the stunts and struts that I pull out... and BOOM. May-Ja.

When there people stop and watch it normally ends in one of two ways:
1. I wave, smile and give my audience the show they expect.
2. I say a million curse words in my head, pack up my stuff and leave.

I think you can guess what happened here.

THIS guy completely threw off my shot.

The bridge was my spot that day and... Look who comes trotting on by.

First of all, I want to start off by saying how incredibly heavy my heart is for the victims, families and loved ones of yesterdays attack in Boston. I have a special place in my heart for Boston due to one of my bests, Erica. I'm so thankful our girlfriends are in the know and immediately contact each other when things like this happen.
Erica and her family are all safe.

Thank God.

Today is going to be update central on this here blog. But really, it's just sort of a snippet of what's to come.
I'm leading you on. Hey, at least I'm upfront.

LuLuLemon: Black Tie Yoga Event

Okay.. Can I brag for just a quick second?
I have to tell you all just HOW EXCITED I am! I could barely sleep last night from anticipation of seeing my photos on LuLuLemon's instagram.... may not sound as cool, but trust me...

it's like the highlight of my life right now.

For this event I worked with the amazing girls at the Lululemon showroom in my city. It was a Black Tie Yoga event. I'd say there were close to 75 people on their mats participating in a class taught by Bear Tobin. It was a really amazing experience.

It was held in one of the most beautiful spaces, The White Room (The home of the Purple Turtle. They are the ones doing my branding!), with amazing food prepared by Peruvian Chick, a DJ from Seattle and yoga gear that would make your mama sweat.

Kidding...

we kept the see-through pants at home.

Do you ever dream? Now, this may seem like a silly question, but really... What do you dream of? I sat the other day creating a "Dream List." Somethings seemed slightly unattainable (at the moment), some things were certainly within reach. I sat and I thought. I thought and I dreamed. I cried a little out of sheer joy in the fact some of my dream list had been completed and for the fear that some may never happen. One great beauty of creating a list is the physical act of the check-mark. That slight little slash. Oh how powerful that seemingly simple mark can make one feel. With each check mark my happy little heart dances and parades.
Normally I keep these sort of things to myself (Not happy dances... I put that shit all over the internet.)

My Dreams.

It has always been difficult for me to say what I want. To ask for something and truly expect a return.
So instead of listing off one-by-one, I will give you the overall theme of my "Dream List":

To be the best.

I once said that I wanted to be BIG. I wanted to grow and grow and achieve my own personal height of fame. But that's not what I want at all (yes, I secretly want to be famous.. but that's beside the point). What I really want is to be BETTER. I want to grow and grow and achieve my own personal height of greatness. I want to be a better person. I want to give more and see more. The thing about being better is there is no limit. And that is exactly how I want to live my life.

No limits, no fears.

There is something about a little bubbles, beautiful friends and good food that makes a Sunday that much sweeter. Sharing a meal with someone is one of the most intimate and beautiful things about life (note: I said one of the most). I'm lucky to be able to share meals, laughs, stories and twerking videos with these beautiful ladies.

Being able to relate to all of these girls hasn't come easy, but in the end we have all found our own friendships in each other. Having these friendships with these incredible ladies has really made me grow and learn, accept and truly love and appreciate female friendships. So lucky for each and everyone of you.

And that goes for ALL of my lady friends. Just because you are not in this picture does not mean you are not loved and appreciated! You know who you are :)

Write. Erase. Write. erase. The process of writing a blog post this morning has been quite....blah.

Normally I write my blog posts the night before when I get off work. You know, when I'm all sorts of fired up about something (usually Ru Pauls drag race). I still have a little spark of energy which makes the writing process cake. But last night I chose sleep over my beloved blog.

Yes, I went to bed without touching my computer. The last time I did that... I don't know.

As weird as it may seem to be in a semi serious relationship with your computer, it's kind of true... Hell, my macbook even gets the good side of the bed (oh the joys of being single).

But that's a big part of my life right now. Balancing my time between work and work and sleep and health.

One major thing that has helped? Getting to bed at a decent hour and not hitting snooze 12 times. It's amazing how much more rested I feel if I rise at the first alarm instead of the seventh. Do you feel the same?

Mornings are not usually my friend... but we are slowing working on getting to know each other.

Weekend Rundown

Weekends are sort of imaginary things for me. I am lucky if I have two days off in a row. And most of my days off are scheduled to the brim with photoshoots, meetings, coffee dates, catch-ups, sit-downs, spin-arounds....

You get it.

Within all of the madness I am so lucky to have such strong friends and family to keep me grounded. It's a wonderful thing.

So many amazing opportunities have been presented in my life as of lately... (I may or may not be shooting an amazing event for Lulu Lemon!) And I just have to say how thankful I am for all of the support and praise I have received from those I love most. Your encouragement and belief in ME is something that inspires me to pursue what I love doing most. I hope my photography, writing and everything I do will bring you at least an ounce of happiness throughout your day.

You are the reason I do what I do.

What are you great at?

This is a question that has many different answers, as for everyone is good at something.

Everyone has different strengths, skills and talents.

But for some reason we have a really hard time coming forth and saying:

"I'm great at _________."

Why is it so much easier to claim our weaknesses than to affirm our strengths?

Why do we always start with the bad, and finish with the good?

The feeling of guilt should never accompany accomplishment and success.

If something brings you happiness, joy, then why not celebrate it?

I can appreciate a confident person who knows what they are great at. When asked that question, to have a true and real confidence about your strengths takes a conscious effort for me.

Yes, I know I am good at things...

I mean, I won hula hooping contest in the 4th grade.

But being Great?

Greatness?

For some reason I have been using the expression "It's everything" constantly in my everyday speech.

I don't know. Rachel Zoe has taken over my speaking patterns. I. DIE.

As for the rest of me, I am still mostly myself... after this past weekend in Seattle I was forced to take at least 2 days off from blogging because I could quite possibly lose all of my followers. Ya'll... We went to a bar called the Unicorn. 'Nuff said.

It was really a fabulous weekend. I spent quality time with my girlfriends, ate delicious food and drank way too much. (Which may have resulted in me getting carried around like a sack of potatoes... but my memory does not register any of that) Currently I am in detox mode. Working my body with some yoga and yeah, I bought a juicer! Hello, bandwagon! I'm always on board for a good trend/ lifestyle adjustment!

In the midst of a miniature snow storm, my little summery heart suddenly fell flat. With two days of consistent sunshiney weather I unearthed the bottoms and backs of my drawers for anything that would match the delight that was in my heart.

A little slushy snow is not going to stop me.

So, open toed shoes and tank tops it is.

But only when I can find cover under a bridge, that is.

This skirt is my new favorite. I have been looking for a full skirt that doesn't make me look like a cupcake.

Unless it's a sexy cupcake, in which case, I ask you:

Who wouldn't want that?

I tend to gravitate towards people that can help me learn. People that are deep themselves and can help me grow all the same.
I can tell you one thing in my life that will always be a constant: I make mistakes.
Sometimes I 'fess up and apologize, sometimes I act like an idiot and don't.

My friends and family have taught me a few things one: humility. Admitting faults is not a weakness, I have come to learn. This is one of the best ways I have become a more honest person and friend.

Another important lesson I have learned in the past few years: forgiveness. I have learned this by being forgiven by one of my best friends. You never intend to hurt the ones you love and that is true in my case, as well. A long chat in a quite coffee shop really changed our friendship. I am so thankful for that conversation to this day because without that, I would be missing a big piece of my heart.
