I went to Muskegon Michigan for the annual Backyard Bike Builders meet July 18-21. Ate like kings,drank like fish and rode motor sickles with some of the best guys and gals on the planet. Even went to Pop A Top for a little pole dancing!

This past Sunday, my daughter wanted to go for a ride around Indian Lake. We stopped at several places to watch the boats and just enjoy the warm spring weather. It was nice to spend some quality father-daughter time with her.

Fixing Broken Over Flow Tubes

I have been working on trying to get my Keihn carbs to quit leaking on the 77 KZ650. The #4 bowl leaked whether the bike was running or shut off. I took the bowl off numerous times and polished the float valve seat thinking that the valve was not seating properly. Well, it still continued to leak. I took the bowl off for what seemed like the hundredth time and put my magnifying glasses on to try and find the problem. What did I find? The carb bowl overflow tube had a hairline crack where it met the bowl and was nearly unnoticeable. Most of ya already know that there isn't overflow tubes available for purchase so I started my quest on the internet for answers. I ran across an article on a Honda GL/Gx website and thought I'd give it a try. I first tried pulling the tube out of the bowl but it broke off at the base of the bowl. I tried the wood screw method of screwing the screw into the hole and pulling out the pressed in remaining tube but that didn't work so I followed the article and used a drill bit to drill out the remaining tube. I then purchased some 1/8 copper tube from a local auto parts store and just like the article said the tube was slightly smaller and would not stay in by itself. Once again, I followed the directions in the article and "swedged" the end of my replacement tube ever so little and pressed it in according to the directions. I then filled the bowl up with water and Viola, no leaks !

So if ya have a broken,cracked or damaged overflow bowl tube give this a try. It worked perfect for me!

Fellow Americans

We are at a major crossroads here in 2013. The government of the United States of America is NOT working for “the people” or in the citizen’s best interests.

The very people who cannot even balance a budget are slowly manipulating our Constitution and Bill of Rights and yet we entrust them enough to know what’s best for our country? Come on people!

They have made us a nation, which is laughed at. Other countries burn our flag and we do nothing. Our President apologizes for America’s actions. Our once strong, thriving economy, which was built by entrepreneurs who envisioned the American Dream is now in debt to a foreign nation of communists due to incompetent, self-serving, un-American leadership in Congress and the White house!

Our government taxes us on EVERYTHING. Our income, our homes, our purchases, our inheritance, I could go on and on. They tax us to a point where we, as average middle class citizens, cannot even afford to go on a vacation, or buy a newer vehicle and sometimes many people cannot even pay their utility bills or buy food. This has caused nearly every middle class American to tighten his or her own household budget to the point there is nothing else left to cut out. We have been required to do more with less and all the while the government continues to spend and spend and spend. It’s not a republican issue. It’s not a democrat issue. It’s a mess made possible by everyone in our government that does not stand up and do what is right!

As a nation, it is a requirement for our government to have a balanced budget. Businesses are required by owners and stockholders to have balanced budgets. Non-profit agencies are required to have balanced budgets. Cities and municipalities are required to have balanced budgets. We as citizens have family budgets but yet WE allow our government to get away with drowning Americans in a quagmire of rapidly increasing, uncontrolled spending and debt. Really? Are we really a nation that doesn’t give a shit what our leaders (who we are responsible for electing) are doing and continue to do? I guess many Americans have forgotten why our forefathers fled English tyranny! Our forefathers gave their lives for freedom from tyranny. Our soldiers throughout history have fought for the same ideals even to this very day, and yet we allow our governing officials to lead us like sheep to the slaughterhouse. It’s time we wake up!!!

It’s time to stand up for our GOD given rights as Americans! It’s time! It’s time to start demanding that our U.S government officials do the right thing. It’s time they are required to:

1) Stand up for America! It’s People and Principles

2) Be financially responsible and held accountable with taxpayer’s money.

3) Balance the U.S Budget. Spend less.

4) Quit trying to take away our God Given Freedoms and Rights that were established in the U.S Constitution and the “Bill of Rights”

5) Quit trying to Police the world.

6) Quit giving the U.S. taxpayer’s money to other countries when America can’t even pay it’s own bills

7) There should be term limits on all elected officials

8) They should be required to accept the same health care as everyone else when they are in office. When they leave office they should be treated like every other citizen. No perks!

9) and if elected government officials don’t do what’s right by the American people then they should be treated as Traitors, for that is what they would be.

If the American People don’t do something about it now history will repeat itself. Just as are forefathers rebelled against tyranny, so should we.

2013..A New Year

As I look back over 2012 and beyond, I have come to understand that there is one area of my life that has kept me from becoming who I want to be. That area deals with alcohol. My consumption/ addition of alcohol has ruined several relationships.I am ashamed and embarrassed to admit that.
So for those people in the relationships that i have ruined I am truly sorry. I promise to do better in 2013.

F&*kin Carbs

I haven't gotten much accomplished out in the shop lately. A lack of funds and cold weather has dampened my artistic spirit. Add to that, I dislike the holiday seasons.
I have been trying to get the leaking carb issue fixed on the KZ 650. I re-cleaned the carbs again (bout the 5th time) and installed new float needles and checked the float height several times. I'm still getting a leak in the #4 carb at the overflow. I've polished the float seat several times and just can not get it to stop leaking. Since the float seat is pressed in there nothing I can do about changing out the seat even if I could buy a replacement, which I can't cause they are not available. So for now, I guess I'm just gonna drink and stay in the house. If anyone has a #4 carb for a cv34 Keihn that they wanta sell hit me up.

Poker Run/Benefit Ride for Cory

On Saturday, 9-29 a bunch of us met over at Big Al's so we could ride in to the Benefit for Cory together. Prior to leaving on the ride, Big Al had breakfast waiting on us- biscuits and gravy, danishes, coffee, orange juice and fruit. We chatted for a while and took off about 9:30 to head to Minster Ohio where the benefit was to start. Over 100 motorcycles showed up for the ride and were escorted by the Auglaize Co. Sherriffs. The Iron Shield's M/C made Cory an honorary member and lots of money was raised for him and the cancer society. Good luck to Cory! Hopefully he can beat this cancer and live a long wonderful life.
