Museum Day is an annual event sponsored by Smithsonian Magazine in which you can score FREE entry to many great museums across the country. Tickets for this 2 and 1/2 hour food & culture walking tour regularly run $40 a pop but you can currently snag tickets for only $20 each thru the Albany CBS News Channel 6 sponsored website Hey! It’s Half Off!

The Saratoga Springs Food Tour runs every Saturday at 12:30 pm thru 10/13 and has gotten great reviews. This tour would be a fun treat for out of town guests, or, even if you are not new to most of these establishments you will learn some interesting history and facts along the way and try some great local foods. But, best of all, at only $20 a ticket I think this deal is a sure bet!

Purchasing an Entertainment Book is a great way to save on local businesses and services. You can currently purchase the 2012 Entertainment Book for only $5.99 + $1 shipping. Most coupons expire on 11/1/12 so you still have over 3 months to use them. In my opinion, this years edition features better coupons than in previous years. I’ve listed a few good ones below. Many of these I found just looking at the printable section of the book so after you order your book you’ll be able to print and use these right away. Please note that some of the coupons for the higher end restaurants are not valid during track season but I did see many other restaurants that have no restrictions. And hey, at only $6.99 after you use only one coupon you’ll have already saved money!

Here are some $1 and under deals for this week:

Staples 500 Sheet Multipurpose paper is only $1 this week after Easy Rebate. Staples Easy Rebates truly are easy. When you buy something that qualifies the information explaining how to submit your rebate online to get your rebate check in the mail will print at the bottom of your receipt. This particular rebate has a limit of 2 per household. Great for printing coupons!

You can snag a 1 lb. container of Strawberries for only $1 at Hannaford this week! Strawberries are on sale for $2 plus use the link below to print a $1 off coupon = $1. When produce is cheap like this I like to buy a few extras to freeze and then pull out to add onto oatmeal, use in smoothies, desserts, etc.

You can often get toiletries cheap to free with coupons also. Pure Silk Shave Cream is on sale for $1.79 at Price Chopper this week, use the $0.80 off coupon from the 7/8 Red Plum insert = only $0.19 after coupon doubles!

Ronzoni Garden Delight pasta is only $0.25 this week at Price Chopper with the coupon found on their facebook page.

Earthbound Farm Organic Mini Carrots 1 lb. bag is only $0.49 again this week at Price Chopper after the $0.75 off coupon from http://www.ebfarm.com/ doubles.

Adams Reserve Extra Sharp Cheddar 10 oz. (located in the gourmet cheese dept.) is on sale for $3 at Price Chopper this week. Use the $2 off printable link found below to get it for only $1! This cheese is regularly $4.99 so $1 is a great price. Cheese has a great shelf life so this is a good week to stock up. I like to buy brick cheese when it is cheap like this to have on hand to shred to use on tacos, quesadillas, etc. FYI – this coupon prints large so you’ll want to shrink it using your printer settings before you print it in order to save ink.

Picnic Idea for Opening Day of the Track this Friday:

Grab some $1 Adams Reserve Cheddar Cheese, $1 strawberries, some crackers and vino (put into a plastic container of course!) and you are ready for a relaxing afternoon at the track. Ritz Crackers are on sale for $2.50 at Price Chopper this week, use the $1/2 coupon found on smartsource.com = $2 each.

Even better than $1 & under deals are FREE deals!

Kids in grades k-6 can get FREE haircuts at all JcPenney stores this August! You may want to call ahead to see if you can schedule an appointment now for August in case they fill up.

It’s no secret that buying healthy and organic foods can get pricey. The good news it that you don’t need to break the bank in order to feed your family healthy and all natural foods. There are many coupons available for organic, all natural, dairy free and gluten free products. Here are some coupons and tips to help you maintain your healthy lifestyle:

The website Mambo Sprouts.com offers printable coupons for healthy and organic products, many of them $1 off or greater.

This summer ebfarm.com is featuring $0.75 off ANY Earthbound Farm product coupons several times per week with a print limit of two. The current coupon reads $0.75 off any Spring Salad Mix but prints as $0.75 off any EBF item. These coupons double to $1.50 off at Price Chopper and there are many inexpensive Earthbound Farm items you can purchase using this coupon. This week 1 lb. Earthbound Farm Organic Mini Carrots are on sale for $1.99 = only $0.49 after the coupon doubles!

Another great coupon currently available is a $0.75 off Dole Salad Blend, Kit, or Extra Veggie Salad Price Chopper coupon (link: http://strk.enlnks.com/aff_c?offer_id=118&aff_id=2843. Change zip code to 66106 in the top left hand corner to locate coupon). Price Chopper has Dole Salad Blends on sale for $2.99 this week. Scan your AdvantEdge card in the iSave machine and you should receive a $0.75 off store coupon to combine with this coupon and pay only $0.74. Other Dole salads often go on sale so this is a great coupon to have on hand.

Stonyfield.com is another website that has many great coupons available. If there is a product you buy regularly it’s a good idea to check their website or facebook page to see if they have any coupons available – they just might!

If you eat gluten free, a quick online search will lead you to the many coupons available for gluten free products.

I cannot believe July is already upon us! Here are some money saving tips and coupons for your BBQ this 4th:

Why not forgo the traditional burgers and hotdogs this year for something more savory? Porterhouse, T-Bone, Bone-In Rib Eye and Bone-In NY Strip Steaks
are only $5.88 lb. this week at Price Chopper plus use the $5/$20 meat
purchase coupon found on Price Chopper’s facebook page for additional savings. If you prefer to
shop at Hannaford use the $4 off $4 Butcher Shop purchase coupon found
in this weeks Saratoga Today newspaper, valid at the new Malta Price Chopper.
This coupon can also be used at Saratoga Price Choppers as a competitor
coupon.

I like to serve baked potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil with steak. It makes for a nice presentation.

Sour cream with chives is a must!

A salad or two from Roma Foods
would make great sides. Their macaroni salad is my favorite! The next time you
grab a sub or sandwich at Romas you’ll want like them on facebook to access a coupon good for a FREE Cola-Cola product w/ sub or sandwich purchase.

Desserts featuring blueberries and strawberries are always popular on the 4th:

kids on Tuesdays & Thursdays this summer and pay only $1 for
kids tickets!

Starting 6/26 kids can enjoy $1 movies at
Regal Cinemas in Clifton Park and Crossgates Mall every Tuesday and
Wednesday at 10 am. With a great selection of movies this deal is sure to

Get Saddled Up For Savings!

Welcome to Saddle Up For Savings. I’m very excited to share deals and money saving tips with you! There are so many great reasons to try to save money. Besides the obvious, a main reason I love to use coupons is because of the feeling you get when you have just gotten items FREE or very cheap at the grocery store or saved 50% at Mrs. London’s Bakery because you had a Living Social voucher. With what seems like more and more regulations in our everyday lives I find it empowering to be able to take financial matters into my own hands and pay what I want to for items my family needs.

Before I started using coupons I thought an enormous coupon binder and hours upon hours of organization and cutting out coupons were needed to save substantial money. This isn’t true! While it’s great to maintain a coupon binder and those who do may sometimes save a bit more money than I do, I don’t use one. Like many other busy people I just don’t want to spend the time on it nor that level of organization. But the good news is that you don’t need a coupon binder or to spend hours upon hours each week in order to save money. Anyone can use coupons, it’s quick and easy to do! For example, during the week of 6/24, Price Chopper has Heluva Good Dip on sale for $1.50. I printed 4 $0.75 off manufacturer coupons from giantfoodstores.com that will each double to $1.50 off = 4 FREE. It’s that easy! Dips have a pretty good shelf life so I’ll use these for BBQs this summer.
