It was just announced that comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres will be replacing Paula Abdul at the judges' table on the upcoming ninth season of American Idol. Finally! With the new season just around the corner, everyone was getting antsy wondering who would join Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell on the hit American TV show.

"I'm thrilled to be the new judge on American Idol," the Daytime Emmy-winning talk show host said in a statement. "I've watched since the beginning, and I've always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I'll save from not having to text in my vote."

DeGeneres has signed on for the entire season, so we are excited to see what she can bring to the table!

Peyton Manning and Justin Timberlake Pong it up for Sony

Antonio Banderas - Melanie's in Rehab for Drug Abuse

Actress Melanie Griffith checked into rehab after fearing she was too "weak" to resist her urge for drugs, her husband Antonio Banderas has revealed. The 52-year-old plastic surgery loving lady has been seeking treatment at the Cirque Lodge in Utah since the end of August. Representatives for the star had previously refused to disclose the reason for her stay but her Spanish actor/hubby Banderas has spoken out, admitting that she turned to rehab in hopes of preventing a relapse.

Banderas tells Ellen DeGeneres, "Let me explain to you. It was actually in some magazine that I said that I gave an ultimatum to my wife. That I present the matter of divorce (sic) because she has been involved in addictions and blah, blah, blah. ...
"Melanie has been addicted for many years and we always came out. We said it out loud. It was OK, we were never embarrassed of the situation but ... she was clean and sober for six years."

Addiction to any kind of drug/alcohol/etc is a horrible demon to battle, so we hope Melanie gets better. She also needs to stop modifying her face before she becomes unrecognizable!

Taylor Swift Tops 10 Million Records Sold and 20 Million Downloaded

Taylor Swift has just surpassed the 10 million milestone for total albums sold in her very young musical career. Swift (age 19) has also sold over 20 million paid song downloads, which is more than any artist in country music history. Swift, who writes all of her own songs, released her now quadruple-platinum self-titled debut CD in October of 2006 on Big Machine Records, and followed it up with the release of her hit album Fearless in 2008.

Taylor has had singles top both the Country and Pop radio charts, and sold more albums last year than any other recording artist, in any genre of music. Her #1 single "Love Story" has become a global sensation, topping airplay charts worldwide, in countries including the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Taylor just celebrated her 4th consecutive #1 single in the US, and her fifth #1 out of her last six singles released.

Ashton Kutcher rides around in a pink low rider as he films scenes for the upcoming comedy "Valentine's Day" in Marina Del Rey, California. Ashton sports a pink short to match the funky car, which makes us think what is this scene about! Looks funny! The movie also stars Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel and will hit theaters in summer 2010.

Katherine Heigl Adopting a Girl!

Katherine Heigl is adopting a baby! Grey's Anatomy actress Heigl and husband Josh Kelley have wanted a baby for a long time, the source said, and the adoption process has been in the works for at least six months. The baby is from Korea, her given name is Nayleigh and her nickname will be Leigh, and she is approximately 10 months old. “She is thrilled,” a source close to the couple told news sources. “She and Josh are so happy.”

Heigl recently hosted a baby shower for her Grey’s co-star Ellen Pompeo. Heigl is currently on a leave of absence from Grey’s and starts filming the big-screen feature "Life As We Know It" next week.

Congrats! We are curious though why she is adopting, can she not have children, or maybe because she's an actress she doesn't want to mess her body up?

"In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009, Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden," she announced on her website Wednesday. "He weighs 7lbs 14oz. Nicole, Joel, Harlow (19 months) and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes."

Well that is a very different name, Sparrow. So what does it mean? Well, according to nameipedia its a girl name, so uhm, that can't be right. From another name site it just says its a bird name. Maybe they selected the name because they like Jack Sparrow from the "Pirates of the Caribbean"?

Wow, either Beyoncé's skin changed color in the past couple of years, or one of the two (above) magazine covers is a very poor Photoshop job! The Joy magazine cover on the left is from 2007 and the Glamour cover, which seems much much darker, is from 2009. We understand modifying celebrity photos as to enhance their looks, but to actually go to the lengths of changing their skin color? That's just wrong!

Many people have been noticing how much weight Khloe Kardashian and her sister Kim Kardashian have lost since swimsuit season opened in June. Well in the upcoming edition of Life & Style the two talk about loosing weight (Khloe lost 25lbs, Kim 10lbs) and their diet regimes. I have not read the article, but I can already tell these two are blasphemous! All either one of them talk about on Twitter is to push their diet pills, which are not FDA tested and have had sketchy histories. Sad sad that these ladies had to revert to pushing diet pills to build their name/brand.

Jay-Z opened his set performing "D.O.A." and "Run This Town" before a packed crowd at the House of Blues in Chicago (September 8). The free concert is part of the third annual Samsung ATT Summer Krush tour featuring other well-known musical acts that wraps up next week. Some of the celebs in attendance included NBA players Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls), Orlando Pace (Chicago Bears) and Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat).

Kate Moss Flips Out at GQ Awards in London

After presenting her good friend Lily Allen with the GQ Woman of the Year award, Kate Moss did not appreciate a joke made at her expense by the shows host James Nesbitt. Her boyfriend Jamie Hince tried to keep things calm, but instead Moss stormed off ranting, "He’s so (sic) rude, I’m never coming here again.” A confused Allen tried to calm Moss by saying, “He didn’t mean it like that Kate,” but by then she was already out the door.

Can we say Diva? Not only did Kate Moss takeover the spotlight from that night's big winner, Lily Allen, but as you can see in the video, Dizzee Rascal (Winner - Best Solo Artist) is not too happy about Moss's actions!

Yahoo! and Sony just released the first poster for "This Is It", the documentary based on the final days of Michael Jackson as he prepared for his comeback tour. Very cool! Notice all of the smaller images of MJ within his famous silhouette.

The studio acquired the rehearsal footage and behind-the-scenes clips from Jackson's concert promoter AEG Live for $60 million, the biggest deal in documentary rights history. The Kenny Ortega-directed film is scheduled for a two week limited theatrical run opening on October 28, 2009. Tickets go on sale September 28.

Actress Leighton Meester from "Gossip Girl" visits the "The Late Show with David Letterman" at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City. Leighton has been busy filming new episodes of the hit drama, with the season premier hitting TV screens September 14 9/8c.

"Gossip Girl" Factoid: The hit CW drama, based on the book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar, premiered in 2007 and continues to be one of CW's biggest hits. Cops Called to Halle Berry's Home

UPDATE: The update as of 5pm PST is that this was a false alarm. Phewy!

The police were called to Halle Berry's plush Hollywood home today just after 2pm PST. Two cop cars showed up on the scene and spent 20 minutes inside of Berry's house. Halle Berry's boytoy and father to her child Nahla (born in 2007), Gabriel Aubry, left the home just before the cops arrived. At this time it is unclear whether or not Berry was there alone or with her child. We were one of the first to report last week that Berry and Aubrey are pregnant with their second child!

2009 MTV VMA's Opening Act: Janet Jackson!!

MTV just announced that the opening act for the 2009 MTV VMA's will be none other than Janet Jackson! Janet has been in hiding much of this summer due to the death of her beloved brother, Michael Jackson. Janet has not performed on the VMA's in years, so we are very excited to see what she plans to bring to the table!

Catch Janet, Lady Gaga and all other acts and awards on Sunday, September 13 on MTV. Of course, if you miss it, you can catch it one of the zillion times that MTV will replay the award show on MTV and eventually VH1.

The couple tied the knot Friday at midnight at Las Vegas’ Little White Wedding Chapel, according to Us Weekly magazine. It is the same spot where Britney Spears famously wed Jason Alexander in 2004. Milian rented her wedding dress for $200, and The-Dream — whose real name is Terius Hagert Youngdell Nash — wore a $100 tux. The couple had previously announced their engagement earlier this summer.

When they first stepped out together in August at the Bobby Long concert in Los Angeles, Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart snuck in under the radar, but this time the couple was mixed in with all of their fans. Wearing baseball caps, Kristen and Rob were at the show for two hours, watching the show and hanging with Edward’s on screen mom Elizabeth Reaser. They were all surrounded by bodyguards during the show, but our spies say the ladies were very friendly with any fans wanting pictures!

Speaking of romance, Nikki Reed and her rich Greek boyfriend Paris Latsis, Paris Hilton's ex, were spotted kissing and holding each other throughout the night. The two have been an item since early summer, and Paris has been visiting Nikki in the Canadian city where she’s taking a break from filming.

Somehow Lady Gaga found time in her busy performance and appearance schedule to attend the Monster Cable Party in Berlin, Germany on Monday evening. Donning another one of her fashionable expressions, well fashionable to her, Lady Gaga just wrapped up her performances at many small arenas in Europe and Asia. Jetsetter Gaga is now preparing for her high impact and artistic performance for the 2009 MTV VMA Awards on September 13. In multiple interviews Gaga shares that she wants to continue to raise the bar for herself and to really entertain the crowd, all while expressing herself in her own unique way.

What do you think of her fashion? Is it fashion foward or fashion fau paux? I think the oddest of all her costumes was the Hermit the Frog jacket. Oh well, absolutely lovin her song "Papparazzi" though the video is a little odd!

Actor George Clooney arrived in beautiful Venice, Italy - by helicopter, of course - with Italian actress and model, Elisabetta Canalis. George is no stranger to the area, as he has a home in northern Italy and he was in town to attend the Venice Film Festival. He just gets better looking and better looking as he gets older, and always has a stunning brunette right by his side. I wonder if he will ever get married, or just be an eternal bachelor?
