Pig Roast

The annual Sail Georgina pig roast is after the Mayors Cup, at 5pm. Prices are $17/person, or $12/person if you bring a pot luck salad or dessert.

The Saturday pursuit race will now be run as the Mayor's Cup. The skippers meeting is at 10am, with the first boat starting at 11am - come out and participate!

Due to the majority of the racers being unable to attend the scheduled race, the Mayors Cup pursuit race is being postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.

LED Presentation

Hessel Pape and Roy Ham are doing a presentation on the topic of LEDs at 7:30pm on Tuesday April 12th at the York Region Police Station meeting room, on Baseline Road Road as part of their regular monthly Naturalists' club meeting.

Sail Georgina members are invited to attend this meeting since this information is of interest to us. Some samples have been donated for this presentation. These items will be given away at the end of the session to draw winners.

The 2011 Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday April 3rd, from 1400hrs-1700hrs, at the York Region Police Station, Baseline Road.

Winter Seminar

The 2011 winter seminar once again features Geoff Moore of North Sails. The day will run from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Sunday, April 10th, 2011. Please register on the web site.

Work hours and harbour watch

Please remember that all Sail Georgina senior members are required to contribute at least 8 volunteer work hours per year, and spend two nights aboard their boat in the harbour as part of the "Harbour Watch" program. We currently have many work jobs, and many weekends, that still require volunteers.

Please visit the member home page (http://sailgeorgina.ca/memberhome.html) to confirm that we have tracked all the volunteer hours that you have signed up for already. You will also find links on that page to view and sign up for new work items. Thanks for your help and support in keeping the club smoothly running.

Garmin Chart Plotter Recall

Garmin has announced a recall on many models of their chart plotters. If you currently use a chart plotter or no someone that does have them go to Garmin' website to see if it is affected or check with your retailer. The skipper of Lake Pheonix was using one of the recalled models last year when they hit Cook Bay Shoal and sunk.

Fall General Meeting & Awards Banquet

Jackson's Place Restaurant, 21090 Dalton Road, Jackson's Point, Sunday October 25, 2009 at 18:00 hrs. Social Hour with open cash bar prior to dinner. Dinner $26 pay at the door, Your choice of Prime Rib, Chicken or Vegetarian Dish. Meeting to follow at 20:00 hrs.Members who are not able to attend the dinner are welcome and encouraged to come for the general meeting at 8pm. There is no charge for the meeting.

Just Desserts & Kempenfest Cruise

August 1, 2 & 3^rd will be our Kempenfest Cruise. Sail to Barrie and raft up for social time, then drop your anchor and spend the night! Please contact Leo for details.

The next couple of weeks there are enough events happening at SGA to make everyone smile!

Take a look at the calendar and plan wisely! We have the Mayor’s cup race and BBQ, followed by a Canada Day BBQ and sunset cruise and then a cruise weekend to Lagoon City and a night out on the hook. If you need further details on any of these events please contact the appropriate members of the executive! (Racing or Social) Also, now that the Dinghies are in ~ Thanks volunteers! ~ please contact the Fleet Captain Dinghy to ask about taking them out!

A Couple BIG Thank-You's!!

Special Thanks go out to the volunteers who made our booth at the Georgina Cares event a success. Georgina Cares is a charity that helps kids go to camps that their family might not otherwise be able to afford. SGA generated much interest thanks to the help of the Papes, Ken Haupt and Twilah Newman who gave up a Saturday to lend a hand. Thank them next time you see them!

SGA Launches Forum for Social Events

SGA is happy to announce its new "Social Forums". Launched earlier this month, the SGA social forum provides a resource for our membership to plan social events and find out about opportunities to socialize with other SGA Members. If you aren't sure about upcoming events, need to know details, or want to talk about plans, please feel free to post in the forum. This new forum is an accompanyment to the existing SGA Racing forum, also hosted on google. You may join or visit either through the link on the bottom of this home page.
