Annual SGA Beast Roast

Just to let everyone know that the annual Beast (Pig) Roast is scheduled for Saturday July 20 2013 at the Harbour. Event fee is $12/person if you bring a dish (salad or dessert item) to share with everyone. If you are not contributing a dish, the event fee is $18/person. Event fee for children 12 and under is $10. Please bring your lawn chairs, and your own beverages.

The SGA executive would like to acknowledge those who have signed up for their requisite annual work hours and Harbor Watch. As a club however we have not completely fulfilled our commitment with respect to Harbor Watch. This is the second weekend where no one had signed up. While both Tim and Chris may have been present, this is a collaborative responsibility and it is just not fair to assume it can be assigned to or accepted by any member who is simply on his or her boat over a weekend.

The SGA executive wishes to remind all members to review their work hours and the Harbor Watch schedule.

The annual LSIS Georgina Cup regatta will be held over the weekend of September 15-16. Expect many visiting boats the harbour, make plans to join the races, and come out for the dinner on Saturday night.

Preparations are underway for a first class, fully catered BBQ dinner on Saturday night. Mount Gay, as usual, is supplying refreshments, and door prizes will also be available. Total dinner cost is $30 per person.

Breakfast will be served at the harbour on both Saturday and Sunday mornings over the Georgina Cup weekend. The cost will be $5.00 each day.

Mayors Cup

The annual Mayor's Cup race is this Saturday, June 30th. This is a fun, pursuit style race. The skippers meeting is at 10am, with the first boat starting at 11am - come out and participate!

The annual Sail Georgina pig roast is after the Mayors Cup, at 5pm. Prices are $17/person, or $12/person if you bring a pot luck salad or dessert.

LED Presentation

Hessel Pape and Roy Ham are doing a presentation on the topic of LEDs at 7:30pm on Tuesday April 12th at the York Region Police Station meeting room, on Baseline Road Road as part of their regular monthly Naturalists' club meeting.

Sail Georgina members are invited to attend this meeting since this information is of interest to us. Some samples have been donated for this presentation. These items will be given away at the end of the session to draw winners.

Work hours and harbour watch

Please remember that all Sail Georgina senior members are required to contribute at least 8 volunteer work hours per year, and spend two nights aboard their boat in the harbour as part of the "Harbour Watch" program. We currently have many work jobs, and many weekends, that still require volunteers.

Please visit the member home page (http://sailgeorgina.ca/memberhome.html) to confirm that we have tracked all the volunteer hours that you have signed up for already. You will also find links on that page to view and sign up for new work items. Thanks for your help and support in keeping the club smoothly running.

Garmin Chart Plotter Recall

Garmin has announced a recall on many models of their chart plotters. If you currently use a chart plotter or no someone that does have them go to Garmin' website to see if it is affected or check with your retailer. The skipper of Lake Pheonix was using one of the recalled models last year when they hit Cook Bay Shoal and sunk.
