Saint Mary Young Adults Morning Retreat

Join the Saint Mary Young Adults for a morning of reflection on how the impact the Holy Spirit has in our life. There will be breakfast, guest speakers, activities, and different types of prayer to help reflect on our life, renew in our faith, and grow closer to God.

Saturday, June 7th from 9am-12pm

We will start in Marian Chapel with daily Mass followed by speakers and activities.

St. Mary Young Adults Home Cooked Meal & Rosary

The St. Mary Young Adults are planning their first Home Cooked Meal and Rosary for Saturday, March 1st at 5:30 p.m. The food theme will be a taco bar. Those planning to attend should sign up to bring a topping, side or dessert and a beverage of their choice.

St. Mary Young Adults Cookout at the Rectory

The annual St. Mary Young Adults Cookout at the Rectory, is this Friday, Oct. 4th! If you've never been to an event or it has been awhile, this is a great one to come to. Lots of folks will be there, and and once again, Fr. Jack will be cooking up a storm and providing beverages. The Young Adults will be bringing side dishes and desserts. Please leave your name and what you will be bringing here. Fr. Jack has granted dispensation to eat meat.

October 4th is the Feast of St. Francis and a First Friday, so you can start the evening off with Adoration in the Marian Chapel. Fr. Todd will perform the Reposition at 6:00 p.m. if you want to stop in before then. The cookout will start shortly after. Fr. Jack said you are welcome to drop off any food that needs to stay hot/cold before you go to Adoration (anytime after 5:00).

St. Mary Young Adult Lunch & Prague-THIS Sunday

This Sunday, June 30, the St. Mary Young adults will have lunch and a pilgrimage to Prague, Oklahoma to visit the National Shrine of the the Infant Jesus of Prague.

The day will start following the 10:30 a.m. Mass with lunch at The Brook on Brookside with Fr. Todd. After lunch, the group will caravan to Prague, Oklahoma for the Year of Faith pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Infant Jesus of Prague. We are hopeful for a guided group tour to complement prayer time. In addition there will be time in the gift shop.

The group will carpool/caravan from St. Mary's to Prague immediately following lunch (around 1 or 1:15) and should be back in Tulsa around 5pm.

The retreat begins with 8:00 a.m. Mass followed by a light breakfast. There will be a presentation by Fr. Jack along with time for silent reflection to help you find what you’re looking for. Young Adults Rosary and Picnic

Young Adults! Join us Sunday, April 21 after the 10:30 a.m. Mass for an eco-friendly picnic and rosary prayer. We will be saying the rosary immediately following Mass then head out to the playground for a picnic and social time. Everything needed for lunch will be provided and since we'll be on the playground, kids are welcome!

We invite all young adults age 21-40--especially those who are new to the parish or the Young Adult group. For more details check out the poster at the back of the church.

Young Adults Service Day

The St. Mary’s Young Adults spent a beautiful Saturday morning helping Sr. Eileen and Sr. Mary with some yard work. We raked up all of last fall’s leaves and cleaned out the areas around statues of Jesus, Mary, and St. Francis. We also planted some new flowers in the grotto for Mary. I’ve raked a lot of leaves in my life, but I’ve never had such fun doing it!

Mary is ready for spring! We hope to come back in the fall and plant bulbs that will bloom every year.

Our littlest helper joined in and found a worm!

We filled up 13 bags of leaves and yard waste.

Our next event will be a Picnic at the Playground! After the 10:30 Mass on April 21st, we will gather in the field east of Church to say a rosary and then enjoy sandwiches while the kids run wild on the playground! Saint Mary Young Adults Mardi Gras Dinner

Young adults! Throw on your beads and mask--and join us for a rich, tasty, and "gras-filled" dinner.

When? Tuesday, February 12th at 6:00 p.m.

Where? Charlestons on Brookside

Since the Mardi Gras dinner will be held at a restaurant, we will need to get a head count so we know how many to expect. Please RSVP by Sunday, February 10th, so we can give Charleston's a number.

If you need child care, please let us know when you RSVP. If your attendance depends on child care, let us know as soon as possible so we have plenty of time get the nursery set up if we need it.

Saint Mary's Young Adults Volleyball Team Forming

Hey Saint Mary Young Adults! Do you love to play volleyball or just want to hang out with other SMYA folks? How about being part of the SMYA volleyball team?

The team has already started forming, but if we get just a few more we'll have enough to form an all St. Mary's team. If we need don't get enough we'll team up with another parish. The season will start mid-February and will last 4-6 weeks.

Young Adult Updates

Hey all!

1. Come out and celebrate St. Patrick's Day with St. Mary's Young Adults! We'll have dinner on Friday, March 16th at 6pm at Kilkenny's Irish Pub. They have plenty of vegetarian and seafood entrees. There will be kids, so bring yours if you got 'em.

If you think you'll make it, let Karen Dutoi know so I can give them an estimate.

2. Our Epic Bible Study will begin this Wednesday, March 7th at 6pm in the library.

This particular study is a video series. That means we will begin each session with a video. What happens after that is up to us. We will likely throw out a few discussion questions from the workbook and we will discuss. Thusly, if you'd like to take notes, please bring a notebook and a pen. If you'd like a workbook, we can be sure to order enough for those who want one (we do have some to hand out already). Or, if you would like to come, listen, and contribute to conversation without taking notes, feel free!

This is a monthly study, so we will meet the first Wednesday of each month. We will do our very best to start the videos promptly so anyone involved in EDGE can participate. Also, I'd like to have a potluck snack/finger foods during the studies. Biblical speak always wets my appetite. Maggie and Mark Ohnesorge will bring a buffalo chicken dip (it's delicious!). Please consider bringing a dish.

This is OUR bible study and we are just starting, so we can make it however amazing and delicious we want.

Saint Mary Young Adults Upcoming Events

Young Adults!

Thanks so much to those of you who made Valentine Cards for the Ambassador nursing home last weekend. I know that they all enjoyed receiving them... especially Andy's meaty Valentine. It was, without a doubt, the best Valentine ever made. Period.

We have two very important dates quickly approaching. First, on Tuesday, the 28th of February at 6:00pm (or whenever you can make it), we will hold a planning meeting to plan out the next 10ish months. If I can get a head count for those wanting to help plan, we'll look at food options. We will meet in the Library (walk past the Marian chapel to the end of the hall and turn right to the double doors... the password is Abe Vigota). Please consider attending this planning session to keep our activities going.

Starting on Wednesday, March 7th at 6pm in the Library we will be taking an Epic Adventure into Church history. The series is a video series, and we will break it up into individual sessions so you won't necessarily have to make it to each First Wednesday. I believe we will pot-luck the food. Child care will be provided.

Young Adults Valentine Lunch and Crafting

Valentine Lunch and Crafting

Lunch will be provided in Beckerle Hall after the 10:30 mass on February 12th for the Young Adults. The plan is to have deli sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches and veggie sandwiches. There may even be a chocolate fountain!

We will have basic craft supplies to make valentines for a local nursing home. We can also make some for our own significant others, BFFs, kids, etc.

Kids are welcome at this event!

If you would like to bring any side, dessert, drink, or crafty supply to share, feel free to! If you know for sure you'll bring something, please let us know so we don't double up.

Hey Everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. Thanks to everyone who attended our Thanksgiving dinner on November 20. I know this is a busy time of year for everyone, but here are some dates to keep in mind when you're marking your calendar.

Our next formation event is this First Thursday, December 1st at 7pm at the Parish library. The library is located at the end of the hall to the Marian Chapel. So basically, if you're headed to the chapel, just keep walking around the corner and you'll run into it. It will be the last part of Rediscover Catholicism *No worries if you haven't been to the previous ones or read the book- you can still easily participate. If you would like to continue with First Thursdays in a different (or similar) format, let us know! We're exploring our options to keep formation alive and well within the young adults; including a bible study, other Catholic books, a speaker series, etc. Please give us feedback if you would like this to continue. Hope to see you there!

Our next social is a Christmas Decoration Celebration on Friday, December 9th at 6:30pm with Fr. Jack in the rectory. We'll he helping him decorate his home to make it feel like the Advent/Christmas season. It will be a blast! If you would like to attend, please bring a finger food to share!

And, since it is the Christmas season, Ginny has asked us once again to help decorate the Church for Christmas on Tuesday, December 20th at 6pm. It's not a huge amount of work, and with several workers it will go quickly and smoothly. We will have pizza provided to fuel our decorating. Remember, the Church doesn't become beautiful for Christmas without our help!

Young Adult Upcoming Events

Saturday, September 24th- Maryfair Under the Stars dinner and auction from 6pm-11pm. If you've never been, it's a wonderful evening of fun. I still need a few willing helpers to help Ashley with auction checkout. From what I've been told, you'll help checkout with a computer, and it will be super easy. Please consider volunteering for the evening.

Sunday, September 25th- Maryfair picnic from 12pm-3pm. The picnic is a free event for the entire parish, and it's a lot of food, fun and games. This year, we have been asked to operate the Cotton Candy booth. I have a few volunteers, but I need a few more. It will be a really fun event. If you can only help for an hour or even half an hour, please let me know when and I'll find a spot for you.

Tuesday, September 27th- You don't know Jack! Rectory Cookout and Potluck 6:30pm. Our awesome pastor, Fr. Jack Gleason will be opening his home to us for an evening of food and friendship so we can get to know Fr. Jack on a personal level. The parish will provide burgers, brats, and refreshments, and we provide the side dishes and dessert. This will be a ton of fun, and our rectory events are usually a big hit, so bring your A game, folks! Please RSVP to give us a headcount for the night. If you know a young adult new to the parish, this is a perfect time to get them involved and meet other young adults!

Tuesday October 25th time TBA- Halloween Party hosted by the Daly's! We'll keep you updated on our second annual Daly Halloween. If I know the Dalys, and I think I do, they're going to try to way outdo last year's party. Last year was awesome, so this year is sure to be legendary.

Young Adults First Wednesday Changed to First Thursday

To make the First Wednesdays series more convenient, we decided to moved the location to the Church; the Church is booked on Wednesdays, so now we have First Thursdays! And since September starts on a Thursday, that means our next meeting will be next week! I hope you will have a little time between now and then to read Part II of Rediscover Catholicism by Matthew Kelly (see below for more information about First Thursdays and the book).

We will be meeting in the Library at Church of St. Mary from 7-8. Enter at the door near Beckerle, go down the hall towards the chapel, make a right at the chapel, and another right at the end of that hall. Ta da! You are at the library.

Please come even if you weren't able to come to the first meeting or haven't quite finished the reading.

This week, Young Adults starts a new series of gatherings on the First Wednesday of every month that focus on building our faith and knowledge of the Church. The format will vary; we’ll have talks, do Bible studies, or read something together. Suggestions are welcome. There won’t be a teacher or homework, just an opportunity for us to share experiences, struggles, and insights as young adult Catholics.

It will be good fellowship and interesting conversation, so please come even if you haven't gotten to read the first part of the book. Young Adult Bowling Night

Our next event is Bowling at Andy B’s! We’ll be kicking things off at 6pm on Wednesday, July 20th, but come anytime because I’m sure we’ll be playing several games.

Lanes are taken care of, so just bring money for shoes or bring your own shoes if you’ve got them.

Please RSVP by the 18th, so we know how many lanes to reserve (but if you forget, come by anyway!). Here's how to get there.

Also, just as a side note for those with kiddos, they bowl free every Wednesday at Andy B's! If you need to escape the heat, that could be a fun way to do it!
