My beautiful friend Sherileisa Jacobi has recently opened a new jewelry shop on Etsy called Schemes de Monterey. She makes one of a kind fine inspired artisan gemstone jewelry and it's all made by hand! Now I'll tell you a little bit about Sheri. She is a single mom from the Central Coast of California - The Monterey Bay and has been crafting fine artisan gemstone jewelry for more than five years. For my blog review, I received a stunning 14K gold filled rose quartz lariat necklace and earrings set to review. Now I'm a real sucker for gemstones so when I say this is stunning, I mean STUNNING. The rose quartz gemstone briolettes in this set are generous, and a unique freeform elongated faceted nugget cut. About a year ago, Sheri saw a similar necklace worn by Alison Sweeney on her favourite soap opera. She thought it was amazing and wanted to recreate it. After searching for many months, she finally found the exceptional gemstones she used in this jewelry set. The feature stones are wire wrapped with 24 gauge 14K gold filled wire. All gold components and chain are 14K gold filled.

I'm a HUGE fan of lariats because of the different ways you can wear them and you can certainly do so with this set. The necklace has a completely variable length gold filled chain which is 18 inches long, plus it has a 6 inch chain extender (16-24") with a Swarovski crystal bead accent on the end. So this necklace can be worn as a choker length, portrait length or longer with the pendant dangling at the bust line. The gold ring pendant accent is handmade by Sheri using a 21 gauge gold filled wire X 15mm.

Sheri's creativity and handiwork is so remarkable. Her style is unique, innovative, colourful and best of all, original! You will never find jewelry like hers anywhere else. I fell in love with this set from the moment I saw it and put it on immediately. I wore this to my office christmas party with a fitted black dress and everyone was asking about it! They found it really hard to believe that it was actually handmade but they finally took my word for it. This rose quartz lariat necklace and earrings set goes well with any kind of outfit although it's perfect to wear if you're going out or attending a formal party. I was sent a gorgeous double stranded pink and green pearl necklace to review. This is a lovely bridal style double stranded pearl choker necklace in baby pink and light bottle green with sterling silver components. I've never owned any pearls in green so I was very delighted to have an opportunity to review this. It's quite an elegant looking necklace perfect for a social evening or wedding party. I wore mine out to a social dinner and received many lovely compliments on it. It held up really well too since it's made of great quality material and handmade with care. You can wear this necklace with overlapping strands or if you want to get creative like me, twist it up to make a twisted choker! I'm a HUGE fan of pearls and can never have too many pearl necklaces. This one is definitely one of my faves and one I will reaching for again and again.

I was a bit nervous about setting up the Ceiva digital photo frame at first because I am hardly what you would call "techy". I always manage to screw things up whenever I attempt something network/internet related. However, with the help of their very helpful quick set-up guide, I was able to set it up with minimal confusion. After registering the frame on Ceiva, I was able to send pictures to my frame right away. They looked brilliant! The quality of the pictures was top notch and true to their likeness. By that, I mean none of the images were cropped, squished or stretched in order to fit the display screen.

Ceiva also offers some interesting channels to display on your digital frame - anything from ABC News, ESPN sports, local weather, recipes and much more. The daily weather and news reports was quite cool. I totally love that this frame is Android and iPhone friendly as well so anyone with those smartphones can send a picture to my frame. Another great thing about Ceiva digital photo frames is that they offer a lifetime warranty. As long as you have an active PicturePlan, Ceiva will replace or repair the product for free! All in all, I am satisfied with the Ceiva Pro 80 digital photo frame and highly recommend it to anyone. It's a fun gadget to play around with and also works anywhere in the world so it's perfect if you have family living abroad. Now you'll never have an excuse for not sending pictures ever again!

If you're a huge fan of candles like me AND a lover of body products, then you're going to LOVE this. I recently learned about a company called Scandle which makes candles but not just any candles - they make body massage candles! If you've ever burned a candle at home and thought to yourself, "Oh man, I wish I could smell like that!", well now you can! Scandle Candles are unique, multi-purpose and innovative in that it serves as a candle and a massage oil all wrapped into one.

I received a shimmering lotion travel candle from Scandle to review in warm vanilla sugar scent. Can I just say that it smelled good enough to eat?? Even though it's made with 100% natural ingredients and smells unbelievably delicious, I do not recommend ingesting it (good luck fighting off the temptation!) The candle burns at 2 degrees above body temperature and when applied to the body, it hydrates your skin and leaves behind a nice scent and shimmery glow. I love this concept because I absolutely hate applying cold lotion on my body. I only had to burn the candle for about 30 minutes and found that a few drops of the melted cosmetic grade soy oil went a long way. Great for use as a body moisturiser, massage oil and even as cuticle cream. This is a fun and wonderful way to pamper and spoil yourself that I don't think I will be seeing my bottled lotions any time soon.

Holiday Gift Guide: Bodycology - Review!

One of the best presents anyone can give me is bath and body products. What can I say - I just love to pamper myself and smell good! I first heard of Bodycology several years ago when I spotted their products on the shelf of my local drugstore. At that time, I was using drugstore brands and didn't really think of giving Bodycology a try. After having reviewed their products, I do regret now that I didn't give them a chance much earlier. Bodycology very generously sent me three of their products to review. Here are my thoughts:

Sweet Petals Trial Size Body Mist: I was a little unsure about this at first as I've never been a body mist kind of person. I'm so used to wearing perfumes and never ever gave body mists a chance. So I decided to give this a shot and actually quite like it! Imagine sweet pea and berries together...so lush! This is what I reach for when I step out of the shower. They have made a long lasting version of this which is true to its word. I put this on first thing in the morning and can still smell it on me by the time I'm home in the evening.

Cherry Blossom Body Cream: The cherry blossom scent is very common - almost every bath and body product company makes something in this scent. Very rarely do I find a version that I actually like and Bodycology's version was quite good. I tend to use body creams most often in the winter months when my skin is very dry. After all, I live in one of the coldest countries on earth and keeping my skin well hydrated is very important to me! This cream did not leave a greasy film on my skin after I applied it and the scent was very light.

Midnight Garden Shower Gel and Foaming Bath: As much as I despise the scent of violets, I actually fell in love with this one as the violet blended in so beautifully with the lavender and rose. Midnight Garden is my favourite scent of the three I reviewed. The lather was abundant and a little bit of the gel goes a long way. Plus it left a pleasant smell on my skin afterwards which I really liked! This comes in a huge bottle so it's good to last you for months.

I can attest that Bodycology does indeed make high quality products and I'm very pleased that they do not test on animals. If you have a bath and body addict like me on your holiday shopping list, then definitely give Bodycology a try! They offer a delicious range of products that will make a great gift pack or even fun little stocking stuffer items.

CoolSculpting by Zeltiq: The First Session

This post is a follow-up to my post earlier about the CoolSculpting by Zeltiq consultation. If you have not already read it, you may do so here. :-)

So the day had finally come! It was time for my very first Zeltiq session at Dr. Kara's office and I was so giddy with excitement. Was this really happening? Am I really, truly, FINALLY going to be getting rid of the flab I've carried with me for most of my adult life? Heck yes! At my consultation, when I was told that I was the perfect candidate for CoolSculpting by Zeltiq, I could hear the chimes ringing, the birds singing, the grandmothers knitting, the children giggl...well, you get the picture. I was just so relieved that finally, someone had answered my prayers.

I danced into Dr. Kara's office with my laptop in hand and raring to go. The quicker I could get this flab off, the better. The medical aesthetician, Valerie, went over some paperwork with me and also marked the areas she was going to be treating with a surgical pen. My plan was to tweet live on Twitter during the treatments but unfortunately, it did not work out. My laptop was not able to pick up the wi-fi signal in the office for some odd reason so I figured it'd be best to not stress over it and put the laptop away. Note to self: Get a smartphone! However, it was time for this machine to get to work...

It's quite a big machine for the small (but amazing) job it does. So, I hopped on to the bed to start the first treatment on my left love handle and tried to get as comfortable as possible. After all, I was going to have the vacuum applicator attached to my hip for one whole hour. The last thing I needed was the applicator falling off from moving around too much. Valerie applied a gel pad, which is supposed to protect the skin, to the treatment area she had marked off earlier. She then turned on the machine and applied the applicator to my skin. OH.MY.GOD.THE.SUCTION! I do think the machine would've swallowed me whole were it not for the bones in my body but wow, what a powerful vacuum! It literally sucked in all of the flabby skin on my love handle, which was pretty amazing, however the first few minutes of the treatment were very uncomfortable. I wouldn't say it was painful but it felt quite intense. After about eight minutes, all was ok with the world again and I was able to relax and chill with some magazines. After one hour was over, the vacuum applicator was gently removed. The treated area looked very red and felt numb and very cold to the touch. Valerie then repeated the same thing with my right love handle. The 2ish hour appointment went by faster than I thought and all went well. I did not feel any pain at all after the treatment and was able to go home and resume my activities as usual.

I will be updating again in the next few days to let you all know how things were at home post-treatment . It's still a bit too early to say anything at this point regarding fat reduction because I am not expecting to see any dramatic results until 4 months after treatment. However, I am confident that it works. Stay tuned for my next post! :-)

Kaspersky Internet Security 2011: Review!

When I first purchased my laptop, I spent a lot of time looking for security software that would be 1) easy to setup and install, 2) very user-friendly and 3) very accurate and 4) provide maximum protection against viruses, trojans, phishing, malware, hackers and spam on my computer. Kaspersky Lab is a very well known and trusted brand in my household. I had been using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 prior to testing the newest 2011 version out so was already familiar with many of its core features and functions. The older version was great and even offered a fun little "live" graphic to view during real-time scan but I was very eager to see what Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 had in store for me.
While reviewing this new software, these are some of the main things I liked about Kaspersky Internet Security 2011:

Great interface: very user friendly and easy to navigate, jumping from one section to another was a breeze.
World's largest whitelist database: KIS 2011 updates itself automatically to protect you from the latest threats. So far, it has not detected any serious threats!
Desktop Security Gadget: runs quietly in the background on your desktop. With a single click, it enables you to view your status and reports and access the tools you use the most.
Provides Safe-Run mode: this is an excellent feature as it allows you to run applications and programs you are unsure of without causing any harm to your computer. Comes in very handy if you do a lot of downloading.
Uses VERY low RAM! Security protection softwares that are RAM hoggers are a nightmare and slow down your computer to a snail's pace. KIS 2011 didn't slow mine down at all so it's a keeper!

For parents who like to provide their children with a safe surfing experience, Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 does offer parental controls as well. I have no need for this feature at the moment but I did check it out so see what it offered. Concerned parents can restrict and control access to the Internet and other resources such as chat, social networks, limit file downloads and so much more.
I have not come across any major cons at the moment. The only minor issue I had was during the installation process when it wanted me to get rid of Microsoft Security Essentials. I had been using MSE with KIS 2010 (to be on the safe side, if one stopped working I had the other one as a back-up) so I was a bit uneasy about having to get rid of MSE. However, I have warmed up to the idea that KIS 2011 really is all I need and probably also replaces what MSE can do. Overall, I am a huge fan of Kaspersky Labs and will be sticking to their products for many, many years to come. It is really all you need!

Buy: You can by Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 from their website. The product can be installed on up to 3 PCs and retails for $79.95 for a 1 year license. You can also find it in retailers such as Best Buy, Target, and Wal-mart near you.

Simulated Diamond Earrings - Review and Giveaway! CLOSED

Diamonds, as we know, are a girl's best friend. Maybe it's just me but I like to keep my pricey diamond jewelry safely tucked away and only take them out for special occassions. For everyday wear, I wear cubic zirconia or simulated diamonds. DiamondEarrings.org generously sent me a pair of simulated diamond earrings to review. The earrings are set in sterling silver and arrived in a cute little red heart shaped box. I was so shocked by how sparkly it was I thought to myself "Oh wow, I bet people will mistake this for real diamonds" and surely enough they did! I didn't have the heart to lie to them though and had to break it to them that it was indeed fake.

DiamondEarrings.org doesn't sell any earrings at the moment but they will have some great pieces listed on their site soon. Right now, they are focused on doing giveaways to help get the word out about their business and try to increase traffic to their website.
