Gambar-gambar yang telah dipersiapkan di Photoshop akan disusun menjadi animasi panorama dengan melakukan cara-cara di bawah ini.
Images prepared in Photoshop will be created into panoramic animation by the following procedure.

Buat dokumen baru seukuran gambar yang dibuat di Photoshop dan beri warna biru langit pada kanvas (untuk sementara ini). Lalu masukkan gambar-gambar Photoshop ke dalam Library (lihat gambar).
Create a new file with a same size as images created in Photoshop and give blue sky as canvas color (for the time being). Then import all Photoshop images to Library (see picture).
Ganti nama layer 1 menjadi "Cloud1" dan tempatkan gambar awan pertama (cloud_01.png) di sini. Jadikan gambar ini sebagai movieclip symbol dengan titik registrasi di kiri atas (lihat gambar). Atur pula koordinatnya di _x = 0 dan _y = 0 (lihat gambar). Beri nama "cloud01_mc" untuk simbol ini.
Name layer 1 as "Cloud1" and place the first clouds image (cloud_01.png) here. Convert the image to movieclip symbol with topleft registration point (see picture). Set its coordinate in _x =0 and _y = 0 (see picture). Name this symbol as "cloud01_mc".
Klik dua kali pada "cloud01_mc" untuk menyuntingnya. Klik pada gambar "cloud_01.png" yang ada, tekan Ctrl+C, tekan Ctrl+Shift+V untuk menyalinnya di tempat yang persis sama. Lalu ubah koordinat dari salinan "cloud_01.png" ini ke _x = 300 (lihat gambar). Jadi ada dua gambar dari "cloud_01.png", sehingga lebar keseluruhan dari "cloud01_mc" menjadi 600 pixel.
Double-click on this "cloud01_mc" to edit it. Click the existing "cloud_01.png", press Ctrl+C, press Ctrl+V to paste it in exactly the same place. Next, change the coordinate of duplicated "cloud_01.png" to _x = 300 (see picture). Thus, "cloud01_mc" has two instances of "cloud_01.png" and has width of 600 pixel.
Bikin layer baru dengan nama "Cloud2" dan tempatkan gambar awan kedua (cloud_02.png) di sini. Lakukan langkah-langkah di atas untuk gambar awan kedua ini.
Catatan:
• Titik registrasi "cloud02_mc" adalah di kanan atas.
• Tempatkan "cloud02_mc" di _x = 0 (lihat gambar).
• Tempatkan "cloud_02.png" pertama di _x = -300.
• Tempatkan "cloud_02.png" kedua di _x = -600 (lihat gambar).
Create new layer with "Cloud2" as its name, and place the second image of clouds (cloud_02.png) here. Do the above steps for this second clouds.
Notes:
• Registration point of this "cloud02_mc" is topright.
• Set "cloud02_mc" to _x = 0 (see picture).
• Set first instance of "cloud02.png" to _x = -300.
• Set second instance of "cloud02.png" to _x = -600 (see picture).
Buat layer baru dengan nama "Trees" dan tempatkan gambar pepohonan pada layer ini. Jika mau, pepohonan juga bisa dijadikan simbol.
Create new layer with "Trees" as its name and place trees image here. If you like, you may convert this trees image to symbol.
Bikin layer baru lagi, dan buat sebidang kotak seukuran kanvas (300x100 pixel). Jadikan layer ini sebagai mask (lihat gambar).
Create new layer again, and draw a rectangle with size of canvas (300x100 pixel). Make this layer as mask layer (see picture).
Buat layer baru yang dikhususkan untuk penulisan ActionScript. Tekan F9 untuk membuka panel ActionScript dan tulis seperti ini:

Bikin layer lagi untuk matahari (atau bulan). Buat lingkaran dan isi dengan gradasi dari putih 100% ke putih 0% (lihat gambar), dan atur posisinya sesuka Anda (lihat gambar).
Add another layer for sun (or moon). Create a circle and fill it with gradient of white 100% to white 0% (see picture), and set its position to your liking (see picture).
Ubah warna kanvas menjadi putih. Bikin layer lagi untuk langit dan buat sebidang kotak dengan gradasi biru langit 100% ke putih 0% (lihat gambar). Terakhir, susun semua layer seperti tampak pada gambar ini.
Change canvas color to white. Add new layer again for sky background and create a rectangle with gradient of blue sky 100% to white 0% (see picture). Lastly, reorder all layers as shown in this picture.

Pembuatan panorama selesai. Cobalah tes dengan menekan Ctrl+Enter.
Panorama completes. Test the movie by hitting Ctrl+Enter.

Berikut adalah persiapan gambar-gambar di Photoshop untuk animasi panorama di Flash.
The following procedure is a preparation of Images in Photoshop to use in Flash panoramic animation.

Buat berkas baru dengan ukuran tertentu. Contoh di sini berukuran 300x100 pixel. Beri warna biru langit pada layer yang ada.
Create a new file with your dimension. This sample has size of 300x100 pixel. Fill the new existing layer with sky blue.
Buka palet Channels dan buat channel baru (alpha channel 1). Isi alpha channel ini dengan warna putih, lalu sorot menu "Filter" dan pilih "Render>Clouds". Anda bisa terus memberi "Clouds" dengan menekan Ctrl+F sampai mendapat hasil yang Anda inginkan (lihat gambar).
Go to Channels palette and add new channel (alpha channel 1). Fill this channel with white, then go to Filters menu and select "Renders>Clouds". You can repeat this Clouds filter by keep pressing Ctrl+F until you get the cloud you like (see picture).
Berikan "Filters>Others>Offset" untuk menggeser awan. Lalu gunakan brush untuk membuat awan ini sinambung (lihat gambar).
Apply "Filters>Others>Offset" to this channel. Next, use brush to make this clouds look seamless (see picture).
Gunakan "Levels" (Ctrl+L) untuk mengurangi bagian putih pada channel ini (lihat gambar). Tahap ini dimaksudkan untuk mendapatkan awan yang lebih nyata.
To get a more realistic cloud, we apply "Levels" (Ctrl+L) to reduce the white parts of this channel (see picture).
Buat channel baru, namakan alpha channel 2 dan ulangi langkah 2-4 di atas.
Catatan:
• Cobalah tekan tombol Alt sewaktu memberi "Clouds".
• Beri nilai negatif pada "Offset".
Add new channel, named it alpha channel 2 and repeat step 2-4 above.
Notes:
• Try to press Alt key while applying "Clouds" filter.
• Give negative value for "Offset".
Kembali ke palet Layers. Bikin layer baru dan buat seleksi menurut alpha channel 1 (lihat gambar). Isi seleksi ini dengan warna putih (lihat gambar).
Go to Layers palette. Add a new layer and load selection of alpha channel 1 (see picture). Fill the selection with white (see picture).
Ulangi langkah 6 untuk alpha 2.
Repeat step 6 for alpha 2.
Tinggalkan dulu Photoshop. Jalankan character map, cari font Wmtrees1 di sini, pilih beberapa pohon dan salin ke clipboard dengan mengklik tombol "Copy".
Leave Photoshop for a moment. Launch character map, pick Wmtrees1 font, choose some trees and copy them to clipboard.
Kembali ke Photoshop dan buat layer baru. Pilih Type tool dan tekan Ctrl+V untuk memindahkan isi clipboard. Atur ukuran dan jarak dari masing-masing karakter (pohon) agar tampak lebih meyakinkan (lihat gambar).
Back to Photoshop and add new layer. Pick Type tool and press Ctrl+V to paste clipboard's content. Set the size and kerning of each character (tree) to make it more realistic (see picture).
Buat satu layer lagi. Tambahkan "tanah" untuk pepohonan tadi, dengan membuat seleksi kotak di bagian bawah layer dan beri warna hitam.
Create one layer again, Add "a land" for the trees by creating a rectangular marquee in the bottom of this layer and fill it with black.
Sembunyikan semua layer, kecuali layer 2 yang memuat awan dari alpha channel 1 (lihat gambar). Lalu sorot menu "File>Save for Web", pilih "PNG-24" dan klik "Save" (lihat gambar) dengan nama cloud_01.
Hide all layers, except layer 2 which contains clouds created from alpha channel 1 (lihat gambar). Go to "File>Save for Web", pick "PNG-24" preset and save it (see picture) with cloud_01 for its name.
Ulangi langkah di atas untuk layer awan dari alpha 2 (lihat gambar). Lakukan juga untuk layer "tanah" dan pepohonan (ingat untuk menampilkan kedua layer ini saja).
Repeat the last step for layer containing clouds from alpha 2 (see picture). Do the same thing for "land" and trees layers (remember to display these layers only).

Persiapan panorama di Photoshop selesai. Anda bisa melanjutkan panorama dengan menggunakan Flash.

That completes the preparation in Photoshop. You may proceed to read panorama by using Flash.

Membuat Tulisan di Pasir dengan Fireworks MX (Creating Sand Text in Fireworks MX)

Untuk membuat efek ini, Anda harus sudah menambahkan Photoshop plug-ins ke dalam Fireworks MX seperti disebutkan di artikel terdahulu.
Before creating this sand text, you should add Photoshop plug-ins in Fireworks MX as mentioned in previous post.

Buat dokumen baru dengan kanvas berwarna #FFCC00. Ukuran bisa disesuaikan dengan teks yang akan dibuat.
Create a new file with canvas color of #FFCC00. The dimension can be adjusted to fit your text.
Buat sebidang kotak dengan warna yang sama, lalu berikan efek film grain dari Photoshop seperti terlihat pada gambar-gambar di bawah.
Make a rectangle of same color as canvas, and apply film grain of Photoshop filter as seen in the figures below.
Setelah mengenakan film grain, ubah blend mode menjadi "Multiply" dan turunkan opacity menjadi 30%.
After film grain applied, change layer's blend mode to "Multiply" and set its opacity to be 30%.
Ketikkan teks Anda dan atur atributnya: font, ukuran, spasi, dan biarkan warnanya di #FFCC00.
Type your text and set its attributes: font, size, tracking, and leave its color at #FFCC00.
Beri stroke pada teks Anda dengan warna #996600, dan lakukan kustomisasi seperti tampak pada gambar-gambar di bawah ini.
Add stroke to your text with color of #996600, and make customization as shown in the figures below.
Setelah kustomisasi selesai, ubah blend mode dari layer teks ini menjadi "Darken". Teks Anda akan tampak seperti pada gambar berikut ini.
After done customizing, change the blend mode of your text layer to "Darken". Your text will look like this.

Berikutnya salinlah teks Anda, sehingga Anda memiliki dua layer teks yang persis sama.
Next, duplicate your text so you have two layers that exactly the same.
Pilih bidang kotak (dengan film grain) tadi dan tekan Ctrl+C untuk menyalinnya. Lalu pilih teks hasil salinan tadi, klik kanan pada teks itu, dan pilih "Edit>Paste Attributes"—atau tekan Ctrl+Shift+V.
Select the rectangle (with film grain) and press Ctrl+C to copy it. Then select duplicated text, right click on it, and choose "Edit>Paste Attributes"—or simply press Ctrl+Shift+V.

Inilah hasil akhirnya. Lumayan 'kan?

Menambahkan Photoshop Plug-ins di Fireworks MX (Adding Photoshop Plug-ins in Fireworks MX)

Efek di Fireworks MX bisa diperkaya dengan plug-ins yang ada di Photoshop. Ini dilakukan melalui menu "Edit>Preferences" seperti tampak pada gambar di bawah.

Effects in Fireworks can be added with Photoshop plug-ins. This can be done by accessing "Edit>Preferences" menu as shown in the figure below.

Setelah menyunting preferensi Fireworks MX, menu Photoshop plug-ins bisa diakses melalui menu "Filter" pada menu utama di bagian atas atau melalui panel "Properties" dengan mengklik tanda tambah (+) di samping kata "Effects". Jika menu Photoshop plug-ins belum ada, maka cobalah matikan Fireworks MX dulu, lalu jalankan lagi.

After editing Fireworks MX preferences, Photoshop plug-ins can be accessed through "Filter" menu in top main menu or through "Properties" panel by clicking plus (+) sign to the right of "Effects" label.

Mengelola Dokumen Flash (Organizing Flash Document)

Flash menyediakan fitur scene yang sangat berguna untuk mengelola dokumen flash, terutama yang berukuran besar, agar mudah disunting. Akan tetapi, Senocular—seorang pakar flash—menyarankan untuk tidak menggunakan scene. Lalu bagaimana kita membuat dokumen flash yang enak dilihat dan mudah disunting?

Flash has scenes that very useful in organizing flash document, especially the large one, so that we can edit it easily. However, Senocular—a flash guru—suggested us not to use scene. So how do we organize flash document to look neat and easily edited?

Kita bisa menyediakan sejumlah frame untuk berfungsi sebagai scene. Kelompok frame ini diberi nama tersendiri seperti terlihat pada gambar. Seperti Anda lihat, ada pula layer sendiri untuk ActionScript dan ada folder untuk menempatkan layer dari "kelompok" yang sama.

We can spare some frames to act as scene. These frames has its own unique name as seen in the figure below. You can see that there is a single layer for ActionScript and folders containing layers of "same" group.

ActionScript Layer

Layer ini khusus untuk menuliskan ActionScript. Layer ini perlu dikunci agar tidak ada obyek yang secara tidak sengaja dibuat di sini.

This layer is dedicated to ActionScript only. Hence it should be locked to prevent us from accidentally placing any object here.

Frame Labels Layer

Di sini kita menempatkan sekelompok frame yang akan berfungsi sebagai scene. Kelompok frame punya nama tersendiri dan jumlahnya tergantung pada struktur yang akan dibuat. Beberapa frame awal diperuntukkan bagi preloader yang bisa saja diberi label. Layer ini juga harus dikunci.

In this layer, we put frame labels that will act as scenes. Labels has its own unique name and number of labels depend on flash document to be made. First frames of this layer are spared to preloader and can be labeled if you want. This layer should also be locked.

Navigations Folder

Berisikan layer untuk panel navigasi atau menu utama dari dokumen. Menu utama selalu muncul di tiap label, sehingga biasanya merentang ke semua label. Demikian pula jika ada submenu, kecuali jika tiap label memiliki submenu yang berbeda. Preloader bisa ditaruh di sini, tetapi bisa juga di layer tersendiri.

Containing layer for navigation panel or main menu of flash document. Main menu always shows in each label, hence it usually spans to all labels. This is also true for submenu, unless each label has its own unique submenu. We can put preloader here, or in its own layer.

Contents Folder

Inilah folder dengan sejumlah layer untuk isi utama dari dokumen, seperti teks, gambar, animasi dalam simbol, dll. Masing-masing menempati layer sendiri sesuai dengan label yang memuatnya.

This folder consists of some layers for flash contents, like text, images, animation in symbol, etc. Each object has its own layer according to the label displaying it.

Base Folder

Folder ini memuat layer untuk berbagai obyek yang melatarbelakangi dokumen kita. Kita bisa menyediakan satu layer atau lebih.

This folder contains layer for any object that will be our background. It can contain one layer or more.

Inilah cara saya mengelola dokumen flash. Anda bisa membuat pengelolaan menurut kebutuhan atau cara kerja Anda sendiri. Tulisan ini hanya bermaksud untuk memberi gambaran mengenai pengelolaan dokumen flash tanpa menggunakan scene.

This is how I organize a flash document. You can make your own according to your need or style. This writing merely want to give a picture of organizing flash document without using scenes.

Membuat Bulan Sabit di Photoshop (Creating Crescent Moon in Photoshop)

Kali ini saya akan mengajak Anda untuk membuat bulan sabit di Photoshop seperti tampak pada gambar di atas.

In this occasion, I will invite you to make a crescent moon in Photoshop as shown in the above picture.

Mari kita buat file baru di Photoshop. Di layer baru ini kita akan membuat ruang angkasa sebagai latar belakang untuk bulan sabit. Kita membuatnya dengan mengisikan warna putih dan memberi efek noise. Gunakan tombol Ctrl+F untuk menerapkan efek noise beberapa kali sampai kita mendapatkan noise yang lebih kental.

Let's make a new file in Photoshop. In this new layer, we will make outer space as the background for crescent moon. We make it by filling the layer with white and apply "add noise" filter. Use Ctrl+F to apply "add noise" several times until we get a denser noise.

Setelah mendapatkan noise yang cukup, kita gunakan Invert (Ctrl+I) dan Levels untuk mendapatkan ruang angkasa yang lebih nyata.

After getting a denser noise, we apply Invert (Ctrl+I) and Levels to get a more realistic outer space.

Sekarang kita pindah ke palet Channels dan membuat alpha channel baru. Pilih elliptical marquee tool dan tekan tombol Shift untuk membuat lingkaran, lalu beri warna putih.

Now we go to Channels palette and create new alpha channel. Pick elliptical marquee tool and hold Shift key to make a perfect circle, then color it with white.

Salin alpha cannel ini, lalu geser marquee ke kanan secukupnya, beri feather, dan hapus atau isikan dengan warna hitam.

Duplicate this new alpha channel, move the marquee to the right as far as you want, and press delete key or just fill it with black.

Kembali ke palet Layers. Bikin layer baru, lalu buat seleksi berdasarkan alpha 1 dan isi dengan warna hitam.

Go back to Layer palette. Add new layer, and load selection of Alpha 1 channel, then fill it with black.

Bikin layer baru lagi. Kali ini kita buat seleksi berdasarkan alpha 1 copy dan isi dengan warna putih.

Add a new layer again. This time we load selection of alpha 1 copy channel and fill it with white.

Untuk membuat lebih nyata, kita akan tambahkan sedikit awan. Buat layer baru, isi dengan putih, lalu beri efek Clouds. Anda bisa tekan Ctrl+F beberapa kali sampai mendapatkan awan yang Anda inginkan.

For more realistic result, we need to add some clouds to this picture. Make a new layer, fill it white, and apply Clouds filter. Press Ctrl+F several times to get clouds that you like.

Setelah mendapat awan yang cocok, kita bikin seleksi dengan menggunakan Color Range. Pilih bagian yang akan dihilangkan (yaitu hitam) dan atur Fuzziness untuk mendapatkan seleksi secukupnya, lalu klik OK.

After getting the clouds, we make selection by applying Color Range. Use picker to select the black part (which will be deleted) and adjust Fuzziness to get enough selection, then click OK.

Kita kembali ke Layers palet. Berikan feather untuk seleksi yang kita dapat dari Color Range, lalu hapus untuk menghilangkan bagian hitam. Sentuhan terakhir adalah mengubah blending mode menjadi Lighten dan mengatur Opacity dari layer ini.

We go back to Layers palette. Add feather to the selection resulted from Color Range, then delete (the black parts). The finishing touch is change blending mode of this layer to Lighten and adjust its opacity.

Saya harap petunjuk singkat ini dapat memberi gambaran tentang fungsi dari beberapa fitur Photoshop, terutama channels.

Efek Berkas Cahaya (Lightrays Effect) II

Fireworks MX

Dengan Fireworks MX, tampaknya sulit untuk meniru berkas cahaya yang dihasilkan dari threshold dan radial blur seperti tertuang di artikel terdahulu. Entah dengan Fireworks CS3. Sedangkan berkas cahaya dari halftone pattern dan rectangular to polar masih dapat disimulasikan di Fireworks MX, walaupun tidak sama persis.

In Fireworks MX, we cannot create lightrays resulted from threshold and radial blur mentioned in previous article. I don't know about Fireworks CS3. We can simulate lightrays resulted from halftone and rectangular to polar, but we won't get exactly the same result.

Buat file baru.
Create a new file.
Buat kotak dengan rectangular tool dan ubah warna menjadi gradasi cone.
Create a square with rectangular tool and change its color fill to cone gradient.
Sunting gradasi cone seperti tampak dalam gambar.
Edit the cone gradient like shown in the pictures below.
Untuk menghindari "keanehan", geser sedikit slider dari ujung-ujung gradasi.
To avoid "weird" result, move slider away from both ends.
Kira-kira hasilnya seperti tampak pada gambar berikut.
The result may look like this.
Untuk mengubah putih menjadi warna, buat kotak dengan warna yang anda suka dan ubah modus blend-nya menjadi color.
To change the white, simply make a square with any color you like and change its blend mode to color.
Untuk bagian yang hitam, buat kotak lagi dan ubah modus blend-nya menjadi tint.
For the black parts, make another square with different color and change its blend mode to tint.

Nah, sekarang Anda tahu cara membuat berkas cahaya di Fireworks MX.

Now you know how to create light of rays in Fireworks MX.

Kelangsungan Freehand (Freehand Fate)

Kelangsungan program Freehand sungguh tidak menentu. Satu artikel di situs Adobe menyatakan bahwa Adobe tidak berniat melanjutkan pengembangan program Freehand.
Freehand's future seems uncertain. One article in Adobe site declared that Adobe won't continue Freehand's development and they urges Freehand users to migrate to Illustrator.

No updates to FreeHand have been made for over four years, and Adobe has no plans to initiate development to add new features or to upport Intel-based Macs and Windows Vista.
... we encourage [Freehand's dedicated] users to migrate to the new Adobe Illustrator CS3 which supports both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs and Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Namun demikian, artikel di MacWorld mengabarkan bahwa Adobe membantah berita yang menyatakan mereka akan menghentikan pengembangan Freehand.
Yet, Adobe denies in MacWorld that they will discontinue Freehand development.

Adobe says the reports are not correct and the products are not being discontinued.
“Adobe plans to continue to support GoLive and Freehand and develop these products based on our customer’s needs,” an Adobe representative told Macworld in a statement.

Entah mana yang benar. Ini sudah seperti berita politik saja.
