The Men’s and Women’s Track teams finished in first place at the Sienna Heights Invitational. Softball lost to Northville 3-1 and the Women’s Water Polo team beat Grand Ledge 11-4.

Saturday, May 12

The Crew teams traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio to compete in the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships and brought home a silver medal in their Women’s Varsity Pair. The Women’s Soccer team beat Troy Athens 3-1 and the Women’s Water Polo team lost to Okemos in their District Semifinal game.

Monday, May 14

The Baseball and Softball teams beat Monroe in both games of their doubleheaders, and the Men’s Lacrosse team won beat Chelsea 21-4. Women’s Lacrosse lost to Pioneer 16-3 and Men’s Golf beat Adrian twice in their SEC Quad.

Tuesday, May 15

The Women’s Soccer team beat Monroe 6-0 and the Women’s Tennis team tied with Greenhills at 4.

Upcoming Events

The Men’s Golf team plays Huron tonight and will attend the East Lansing Invite at Forrest Akers this Saturday. The Women’s Lacrosse team will also play tonight at home against Holt. The Baseball and Softball teams will travel to Huron tomorrow for a doubleheader and the Women’s Soccer team will play Huron at home tomorrow as well. The Women’s Tennis team and both Track teams will attend their MHSAA Regional competitions on Friday. This Saturday the Men’s Lacrosse team will compete in the MHSAA Regional against Huron and the Crew teams will attend their State competition in Grand Rapids.

• Parent meeting: Friday, August 24th at 7 p.m. in the MS gymnasium
• Pad Pick-up: Saturday, August 25th at the middle school, behind the gym at the locker room. Please drive behind.
• Pad pick-up will start at 9:00am for 8th graders and 10:30 for 7th graders
• The first practice will be on Monday, August 27th
• Practices go from 3:00pm to 5:00pm every day of the week. Because of Labor Day, we won’t be holding practice August 31st or September 3rd.
• Once school begins, practice will begin at 3:15pm and end at 5:30pm.
• Parents will be required to provide physicals and emergency contact numbers on this day
• We strongly encourage parents to purchase girdle pads sets and cups. We do not have girdle pad sets for everyone, and they’re not in good condition. They typically come with pants that are worn beneath the team pants
• We will no longer allow athletes to wear visors.
• Pay-to-Participate money is paid online or through the Athletic Department. Please do not bring money to pad pick-up.
• The Participation Forms are on www.salinehornets.com under Participation.
• When purchasing mouth guards, do not buy clear, or transparent, appliances. This is against MHSAA rules.

Michigan Rehabilitation Specialists will now be offering Physical Therapy and Athletic Training services at Saline High School.  Physical Therapy services are open for student athletes, faculty, and all staff at the school.  This partnership will provide our Hornets with on-site medical attention.  Physical Therapy will be provided by Pete Kitto, PT.  Our athletic training services will continue to be provided by Jaime Corl, AT.  In the fall our athletic training staff will expand.  For more information please call 810-772-3931.

The second game, Hornets capitalized on the struggles of the Monroe pitcher. Giving up a few to many walks, the Hornets produced some timely hitting to score the runs needed to capture the second game of the double header.

Congratulations to Saline’s Varsity Baseball Coach, Scott Theisen on winning his 500th game as the Saline Varsity Baseball Coach.  The Hornets defeated Monore on Monday 17-2 in the first game of their DH for coach’s 500th victory.  The Hornets went on to win the second game of the DH 10-1.  Coach Theisen’s record is now 501-209.  This milestone win is a sign of Coach Theisen’s hard-work, dedication, and commitment that he displays daily.  Congratulations Coach Theisen!

The Boys Lacrosse team will begin the MHSAA tournament on Saturday, May 19th.  The Hornets will take on Ann Arbor Huron at 11 a.m. in Hornet Stadium in MHSAA Pre-Regional action.  Come out and cheer on the Hornets!

The Hornets completed the double header with a win. Scoring and putting pressure on the defense is our goal and the team really did a nice job swinging the bats. Hornets win 10-5
