Gold and Youth have just released their much anticipated debut album “Beyond Wilderness”.

The band hails from our home town of Vancouver and Toronto and this new album has been on continuous play since I got it!

It’s a great mix of fantastic vocals and electronic beats with a complementary nod to the 1980′s.

This is a wonderful album to play at the salon – high energy, danceable, with a little nostalgia thrown in – what’s not to love!

Using rope and synthetic materials, Yuni creates beautiful and evocative pieces.

I am especially smitten with her sculpture series entitled Comfort Hair.

Yuni describes this series as ”So powerful and beautiful yet so burdensome and heavy. It is this intense, overwhelmling, yet so satisfying relationship with our hair that makes us obsess over it.”

I love coming across innovative artists like Yuni who are helping redefine how we feel about our hair and adornments.

Created by Japanese designer Yasunari Tsukado, end…Link Salon is a masterpiece of timber.

Lattice shelves line the seven cutting stations creating a practical place for products and tools.

Simple pendant lights hang from the ceiling offering task lighting.

A long plywood screen is used for the reception area and colour bar.

This 28 metre long room has been transformed into a sleek yet modest space to get pampered and beautified in!

Kaye Blegvad is a London, England based illustrator and jewellery designer. Her art is fun and cheeky and two of her pieces caught my eye as being artwork that would totally spruce up some wall space in any salon!

Designed by Ryo Isobe, who worked alongside the client, they created a whimsical space filled with antiques and birch trees.

I love the minimalist furnishings and the natural light that fills the salon makes the space feel really soothing.

With a blend of do-it-yourself projects, antique mirrors and chairs, chandeliers, and of course the trees, Onico Hair and Beauty looks like a lovely serene salon to relax and get your hair done.

The mastermind behind this creative book is Belinda Hay who owns a vintage salon in London called The Painted Lady.

Published in 2011, Style Me Vintage is full of step by step instructions on how to recreate styles from the 1930s – 1960s.

There’s over a hundred pages of techniques, tips, and detailed photographs to help you create your own vintage hair masterpieces!

The Botanical Flowers Collection is this springs new polish line from renowned nail artist Jin Soon.

As the go to manicurist and nail artist to top editors, photographers, designers and celebrities, Jin has her finger on the pulse.

After launching her first line of polish last year, Jin continues to wow with her amazing colours, high tech polymers, and resins that create a long wearing shiny result. These are also 5-free (no harsh chemicals).

This new collection was inspired by Monet and is a fantastic selection of fun vivid colours for Spring!

Aside from some stylish purpose built trolleys, why not try thinking outside the box by using a kitchen, bar, or library cart and repurpose it to work at your salon or colour station.

These are made in Columbus Ohio and you can choose from a polished or brushed finish.

I can’t think of a better combination – comb your coif then open a beer and enjoy!

Rifle Paper Co. is a boutique stationary company run by a creative husband and wife team out of Florida.

I often purchase their super cute cards but had no idea how awesome their prints were until I found these hairbrush, comb, and bobby pin illustrations on their website.

These prints are created from original paintings by Anna Bond and retail for the fabulous price of $24.00. They would look amazing in a salon!
