Hi Unspoken CIC is looking for a young man! We are holding a read through for our production Speechless! The read through is on 9th March in Hackney. We would like to have a disabled actor to play Lee Baker. Lee Baker is 19,out going and out spoken a bright young man heading to university. He uses a wheelchair and communication aid He has came from a forward thinking family who always has made sure his educational needs and communication needs were met. He is also kind and understanding towards his best friend Rebecca, a girl who has cerebral palsy but her up bringing was not as radical and forward thinking than his. Sometimes he can be a angry young man stubborn and rude to Rebecca parents. We want to find the perfect Lee! Can you help do you think you will make a good Lee or do you know a guy that can! What we would like to get a really short video of you saying;-*Actually your car was parked in the way of my van making it impossible for the wheelchair to move past *We must do something *F**k off please send us your video by Friday. PLEASE SHARE / RETWEET #TeessideZoes Place Baby Hopice MiddlesbroughOn the 30th December at approx 19.30hrs a white transit van collided with Zoes Place Baby Hospices people carrier in Darlington. The people carrier was pushed sideways into a silver VW Polo causing considerable damage to both vehicles. The van then reversed into a blue astra convertible before fleeing the scene. Today the people carrier which Zoes Place in Normandy rely on to transport the terminally I'll babies and children was declared a total loss and written off. It was removed this lunch time leaving the hospice with no vehicle. Zoes Place is a baby hospice providing end of life care for terminally I'll babies and children up to the age of 5 from birth. They rely purely on charity donations to survive and this is going to put a considerable strain on the charity. Gareth is a 44 year old father of two who has been living with Motor Neurone Disease for nearly 11 years. During this time Gareth has raised thousands of pounds for charity through taking part in what can only be described as phenomenal challenges for anyone, let alone someone with MND.
Over the next few weeks Gareth intends to cycle in excess of 300 miles over six days on his recumbent trike, attached to a turbo trainer. On each of the six days he will be at a different location in or around Tenby as follows:
Saturday 12th July I'm attempting to do 50+ miles St. Marys church gates in Tenby. It’s the weekend of the Long Course so the town should be busy.
In August he will be attempting to do 250 miles on 5 consecutive days.
Friday 1st August Tudor Square.
Saturday 2nd Tenby Harbour.
Sunday 3rd Folly Farm.
Monday 4th Heatherton.
Tuesday 5th Tudor Square.
In Gareth’s own words “…..always positive, no point being anything else. Still count myself lucky, had MND for nearly 11 years, can't walk, talk, wash, dress or feed myself, but it will take more than an incurable terminal disease to beat me!
