This season sees Bryan O’Toole taking charge of the 1st XI and overseeing all playing operations at the club.

He is the County League’s youngest manager and has so far astounded all clubs with a tremendous start to the season. 5 games, 5 wins, 22 goals for, 0 goals against. Saltdean has never had a start as good as this.

Last seasons squad was increased in the closed season with some tremendous signings, striker Dan Smith and keeper Luke Green being amongst them.

The Reserves are also having a brilliant start, played 3 won 3. New manager Glenn Rogan and assistant Gary Martin have strengthened last seasons squad and are

proving to be the team to beat in the County League reserve section East.

The signs are good!

Season 2010/2011

Season 2010/2011 sees Steve Green re-affirmed as 1st XI manager with Gerry Green and Wayne Bollingbroke returning to the club as his assistants. The squad has been strengthened with the addition of players from Whitehawk, Peacehaven and Seaford and a successful pre-season programme has confirmed that this year just might be “our year”.

All Levels Represented in 2010/11

Great News – in 2010/11 Saltdean United will be represented at all levels within the Club for the first time since formation. We will have teams from Under 7’s all the way through to senior level, including Under 16 and in the Youth League at Under 18. This is a tremendous achievement and rewards the hard work of all those involved in the club from the youth levels all the way through to the Senior Squad. Good luck to all teams in the coming season and let us continue to represent our community in the positive and nurturing way that we have built our fonundations on.

All,

This weekend a young 26 year old called Ryan Moore rode the winner of both the Epsom Oaks (yesterday), and the Epsom Derby (today). He is already a world renowned quality jockey!

What most of you won’t know is that Ryan played right fullback (and sometimes wingback), for Saltdean United U8’s through to Under 18’s in the team that I was privileged to coach for ten years.
Ryan rarely missed a training session or match even though he was riding out horses from the family stables in Woodingdean from 6am in the mornings.

During that time Jan & I got to know his parents Gary and Jayne very well and to this day we remain in contact and follow Ryan and his brother Jamie (who also played in midfield a year up in my SUFC team).
Jamie has ridden in a couple of Grand Nationals so far and much is expected of him next April.

It’s a small world but my message is that their dedication to whatever they were involved in showed and was encouraged. They are winners which is what it’s all about.

Upcoming Friendlies and First Games of Season Announced

We are able to confirm that a number of Friendly Fixtures have been organised starting on Thursday 23 July 2009. All of the friendlies are home fixtures and involve both the senior first eleven and the reserve team.

We have also been handed details of the first few fixtures of the season involving the first and second teams. See below for details of the fixtures we have planned and details of the new seasons opening games:

Thursday, 23rd July – 1st XI -v- Southwick; KO @ 7:45pm
Saturday, 25th July – 1st & 2nd XI’s (double header) -v- Littlehampton Town; KO @ 1:30pm & 4:00pm
Thursday, 30th July – 1st XI -v- Whitehawk; KO @ 7:45pm
Saturday, 1st August – 1st & 2nd XI’s (double header) -v- Sidley United; KO @ 1:30pm & 4:00pm
Tuesday, 4th August – 1st XI -v- Three Bridges; KO @ 7:45pm

FIRST FEW LEAGUE MATCHES AT HILL PARK – season starts on 15th August

Training Now Started

Training for the 2009/10 season has now started and takes place at the Club each Tuesday and Thursday. Training starts at 7pm. we are always on the look out for new players that may improve on our current squad. If you feel you have what it takes to play for the Tigers in Sussex County League Division 3 next season then please come along to training and have a chat with the first team manager Paul Stevenson to register your interest.

Saturday the 25th April saw Saltdean Utd hold their annual end of season presentation evening, the for awards for the 1st team were as follows.

Seventh Position Confirmed for 09/10

Saltdean United played out their final game of the season at home to Pease Pottage with a fine 2-0 win. A goal early in the first half by Dean Taylor saw the Tigers in at half time a goal to the good. With lots of possession in the second half they deservedly put the game to bed late on with a neat back post finish, ensuring that tey leapfrogged Uckfield into 7th spot. A good first season for the new manager.
