Residents showed up with blankets, chairs and their favorite snacks to enjoy the movie under the stars. It was an exciting event for the kids, who definitely enjoyed every minute of it.

We look forward to seeing the turnout for our next movie night, which will be held on Friday, June 8th. The next featured film will be The Muppets!

Saluda River Club’s First Movie Night of 2012 Sees Great Turnout

Sydney Cummins with WLTX-19 hosted live coverage during the event. She interviewed the chair of the Lake Murray Chamber and indulged in the delicious food and desserts from local restaurants and bakers. The silent auction was a success and networking opportunities at the event were priceless. New restaurants and businesses around the area were given a chance to show off their skills and market their company.

Saluda River Club’s Showcase of Homes Tour Continues This Weekend

In October 2009 Maribeth and Jon Haynes were driving back to their Midlands apartment after signing a second year’s lease. They turned down an unfamiliar road that led to Saluda River Club.

“It was immediate,” Jon recalls. “We knew we had to move there and five days later we had put in an offer on a Saluda River Club townhome.” Jon, a sales rep for UnitedHealthcare and Maribeth, a marketing coordinator, were wowed by the amenities.

“We also loved the fact that the community was growing quickly. We knew we were making a solid investment.”

The Charleston style home they selected features a master bedroom on the main level and two upstairs bedrooms. An extra bedroom and bathroom have been put to good use as temporary quarters for their brother-in-law who’s attending law school in Columbia.

“It really feels more like a home than a townhome with the rich finishes, high ceilings and large windows – the list goes on and on,” Jon adds.

The Haynes’ home has become a favorite visiting spot for family members. “Between the pools and the playground, the kids are totally entertained,” Maribeth says.

She and Jon are regulars at the gym and, when they find the time, they love to head out on the river in a kayak. They’ve participated in community events including progressive dinners.

It’s the people that make the activities so special, they say. “We absolutely love our neighbors – they’re really great.”

Maribeth and Jon Haynes share their thoughts on Saluda River Club

Heather and Lawrence Hershon were looking for a new home. They had decided on downtown Columbia where they worked, she as a paralegal and he as an attorney.

“I’d seen some information about Saluda River Club on the website and thought it looked very cool,” recalls Heather. But she hesitated because she knew Lawrence wanted to be in town.

“I took him out to see Saluda River Club and he loved it,” says Heather. In short order the couple selected a home under construction in the Village District.

“We came in at a perfect time because we were able to work with the builder – Lee Blythe – to pick our floors, countertops and paint colors. We provided a lot of input, and he did exactly what we wanted.”

The Hershons moved into their beautiful three-bedroom home in early 2011 and have enjoyed every moment since. They love kayaking down the river, walking on the trails and spending time at the Village pool. Heather has discovered good friends through Bunko, and she and Lawrence have fun at cooking classes and other neighborhood activities.

“Everyone is so welcoming here. It’s nice to be in a neighborhood where everybody gets to know one another and you can form relationships with people of all ages,” adds Heather.

The Hershons eagerly share the community with friends and family. “We love inviting people over so they can see how awesome Saluda River Club is. Everyone who visits is really wowed by the whole experience.”

The survey included responses from over 650 business leaders grading the states based on several factors from the quality of living and work environment to taxes and regulations. A recent article featured in the Columbia Regional Business Report notes that “most of the states in the top 20 are also right-to-work states… Several economists have found that the economies in R-to-W areas grow faster than other states, have higher employment and attract more inward migration.”

South Carolina has consistently moved up on the list in the past couple of years. Ranked number 10 in 2010, number 8 last year and now number 7 speaks volume about the workforce and business in the state.
