&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;La poesia è una "fenomenologia dell'anima", nella sua forma più alta è 'preveggenza' e in tanti versi di Quasimodo è straordinariamente legata al paesaggio, a caratteristiche ambientali. Consolidare e valorizzare l'identità territoriale richiede sensibilità, gli aspetti poetici hanno sempre fatto parte degli obiettivi della vera architettura.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Il poeta e l'architetto sono entrambi "homo faber": il poeta, per dirla con Salvatore Quasimodo, è un "operaio di sogni", l'architetto elabora e trasferisce nel progetto i significati e i sogni della vita sociale e li realizza costruendo.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Sulla base dell'elaborazione simbolica, il poeta è l'architetto della parola e l'architetto il poeta delle forme &amp;nbsp;costruite. &amp;nbsp;Tra le due attività &amp;nbsp;la differenza è data soltanto dai mezzi impiegati per esprimere quanto hanno a cuore, mentre restano invariati gli scopi e le spinte interiori che animano il loro creare.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Scritti di &lt;b&gt;Salvatore Quasimodo&lt;/b&gt; e, soprattutto di &lt;b&gt;Maria Cumani&lt;/b&gt; (1908-1995), colei che ne divenne la musa e che sposò nel 1948, dopo avergli dato un figlio (si veda &lt;i&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.salvatorequasimodo.it/p/biografia.html" target="_blank"&gt;La vita burrascosa di Salvatore Quasimodo&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/i&gt;).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Un libro che può sollecitare la curiosità di diversi tipi di lettori: colui che volesse ricostruire il legame che unì il poeta e la danzatrice fin da quel giorno di maggio del 1936 in cui si conobbero e/o colui che volesse conosce meglio il tormento interiore che agitò la vita di Maria Cumani.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Tormento dovuto a vari fattori: il sentirsi, sostanzialmente, una donna sola, senza un uomo accanto; il voler andare oltre la danza e poter essere creativa sempre; il non sapersi dare una spinta all’azione, ma, al contrario, essere piuttosto incline a una pigrizia non voluta; e, ultimo ma non ultimo, l’essere stata una donna gelosa, pur, razionalmente, sapendo di non dover temere per le relazioni extraconiugali in cui Quasimodo indulgeva.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;
&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Salvatore Quasimodo, infatti, ebbe sempre molte altre donne. Donne, come lui disse, che non erano altro che ombre, se paragonate alla donna che amava e che sentiva affine. Donne che, però, facevano bruciare di gelosia la Cumani, a dispetto di quanto lei stessa si andava raccontando:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;Il poeta e il politico&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt; è il discorso che Salvatore Quasimodo pronunciò a Stoccolma durante la cerimonia di consegna del Premio Nobel per la Letteratura. Si tratta di un testo ancora di stringente attualità, nonostante risalga al 1959.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Vale la pena riepilogarlo per sommi capi.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;L’inizio del discorso è intimamente autobiografico (“La poesia è anche la persona fisica del poeta (...)”), ma non per questo meno universale: ciò che Quasimodo afferma di sé poeta intende dirlo di tutti coloro che per lui sono &lt;i&gt;veri&lt;/i&gt; poeti.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Infatti, secondo Quasimodo, si può distinguere tra un poeta e un letterato, perché il primo è un pericolo per il potere (politico e religioso), mentre il secondo viene corteggiato dal potere che da lui vuole ricevere lodi (in forma di odi).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Il poeta nasce solo e (a differenza del letterato che partecipa del potere) cresce solo. La sua solitudine, "mal sopportata dal politico", è già di per sé una poetica. Ciò è ancor più vero quando il poeta muove i primi passi d’artista sotto una dittatura che non consente al poeta una libera espressione, ovvero non gli consente di scrivere apertamente ciò che vorrebbe. Nasce, così, l’ermetismo.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Senonché, gli anni della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, costringono tutti (poeta compreso) a una profonda ri-discussione dei principi morali che porta il poeta a mutare la propria poetica in funzione di un rapporto più diretto con i lettori: dall’ermetismo, passa, perciò, all’epica (in altre parole, il poeta si dedica alla poesia sociale).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Tale impegno diretto del poeta nel mondo non può non rinfocolare l’ostilità che il politico nutre nei suoi riguardi:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;
&lt;blockquote class="tr_bq"&gt;
&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Il politico giudica con diffidenza la libertà della cultura e per mezzo della critica conformista tenta di rendere immobile lo stesso concetto di poesia, considerando il fatto creativo al di fuori del tempo e inoperante; come se il poeta, invece di un uomo, fosse un’astrazione.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Il poeta è la summa delle diverse ‘esperienze’ dell’uomo del suo tempo (...).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;
&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Dunque il politico tenta di affermare che è cultura solo quella che non si occupa dell’attualità; solo quella che non affronta certi temi, certi contenuti.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;La relazione tra poeta e lettore, invece, per Quasimodo avviene proprio a livello dei &lt;i&gt;contenuti&lt;/i&gt;, quei medesimi contenuti che non piacciono al politico. La poesia, quindi, non è linguaggio “oscuro”, bensì contenuti che comunicano agli uomini la loro “sorte non metafisica” (ovvero il loro essere nel mondo, il loro essere uomini sociali, il loro essere nell’attualità, uomini del loro tempo).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Tali contenuti il poeta trasmette perché non teme il politico:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Non sarà né la paura, né l’assenza, né l’indifferenza, né l’impotenza a dare al poeta la parola per comunicare agli altri una sorte non metafisica.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;

&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Contenuti, quelli trasmessi dal poeta, assai distanti da quelli che il politico diffonde:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Il politico vuole che l’uomo sappia morire con coraggio, il poeta vuole che l’uomo viva con coraggio.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;

&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Ovvero, il politico vuole essere padrone della vita degli uomini al punto da poterne determinare la morte, mentre il poeta vuole che gli uomini prendano coscienza della loro vita e siano padroni del loro destino.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Come detto al principio, il discorso quasimodiano è ancora di stretta attualità. Il potere politico e religioso, infatti, tenta ancora di zittire la voce limpida dei veri poeti, affossando tutto ciò che è Cultura (ossia tutto quanto comunica contenuti che inducono le persone a pensare), e favorendo, invece, quelle forme di intrattenimento che distraggono gli uomini dal loro presente, dalla loro “sorte non metafisica”. Tali forme di intrattenimento sono, addirittura, fatte passare dal potere come appartenenti alla sfera culturale (“(...) mentre il politico, verbalmente, sostiene la cultura, in realtà tenta di ridurne la potenza (...)”), ma in realtà esse non sono Cultura perché prive di contenuti.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;In un altro scritto risalente al 1965 (&lt;a href="http://www.salvatorequasimodo.it/p/teatro.html" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;i&gt;Messaggio del Premio Nobel Salvatore Quasimodo per la celebrazione della Quarta Giornata Mondiale del Teatro&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/a&gt;), Quasimodo torna sul tema e afferma che le vere “forme creative” (e il Teatro che parla agli uomini è tra esse) non vanno mai in crisi, nonostante possano essere distratte all’attenzione o fatte oggetto di censura da parte del potere politico che mal sopporta che esse siano “il riflesso della vita contemporanea”. E l’invito che il poeta rivolge alla “nuova generazione (aggrappata alle prospettive spettacolari dello sport o alla dispersa vibrazione vocalica delle canzoni)” è di tornare ai contenuti, al “dialogo che definisca la sua &amp;lt;dell’uomo contemporaneo&amp;gt; probabile sorte fisica”.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Anche oggi (forse soprattutto oggi) il potere politico si affanna e maneggia affinché i cittadini siano distratti dai contenuti e sviati verso forme di intrattenimento vuote e dispersive, prive di ogni messaggio e di stimoli al pensiero.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;Ancora oggi, il poeta è solo contro il politico.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

Il poeta si trasferì, quindi, da Manzù assieme alla sua compagna Maria Cumani e fu un bene, dato che, durante il bombardamento dell'agosto 1943 su Milano, anche la casa del poeta fu colpita.&lt;br /&gt;
Durante quei mesi, fu spedita a Quasimodo una cartolina di richiamo alle armi che, però, il poeta non ricevette non potendo, quindi, assolvere ai suoi obblighi di leva. Per tale motivo fu dichiarato renitente alla leva e imprigionato nella Rocca di Bergamo Alta.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Fermo restando il fatto che alcune versioni da lui approntate sono più “esatte” filologicamente di quelle di certi filologi, va riconosciuto il merito a &lt;/span&gt;Quasimodo&lt;span style="color: black;"&gt; d’avere tradotto da poeta, ovvero — come si è detto poco fa — &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: normal;"&gt;sentendo&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black;"&gt; il poeta sul quale stava lavorando. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div lang="it-IT" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 2; page-break-after: auto; page-break-before: auto; page-break-inside: auto; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; widows: 2;"&gt; &lt;span style="color: black; font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent;"&gt;&lt;span style="color: black;"&gt;Già Luigi Berti, nel 1956, concludendo la sua &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;Introduzione&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black;"&gt;&lt;sup&gt;&lt;span style="color: black;"&gt;&lt;sup&gt;1&lt;/sup&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/sup&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black;"&gt; all’edizione einaudiana della &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;Tempesta&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: black;"&gt; di Shakespeare tradotta da Quasimodo espresse il parere che la sua convinzione che solo i poeti dovessero tradurre i poeti, ne risultava più radicata dall’esempio offerto da Quasimodo.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div lang="it-IT" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 2; page-break-after: auto; page-break-before: auto; page-break-inside: auto; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; widows: 2;"&gt; &lt;span style="color: black; font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent;"&gt;In definitiva, a mio avviso, chiedersi se Salvatore Quasimodo fu più poeta o traduttore è un falso dilemma:&lt;i&gt; &lt;/i&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;fu grande traduttore, perché fu grande poeta.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div lang="it-IT" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 2; page-break-after: auto; page-break-before: auto; page-break-inside: auto; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none; widows: 2;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

A tale proposito Quasimodo scrisse in una nota dedicata alla poesia: «Il poeta non canta, dico io, nel primo verso, […] perché il canto è la rivelazione più profonda del sentimento dell'uomo»*.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;Restando mute le voci “calde”, “vere” (perché rivelatrici del «sentimento dell'uomo») dei poeti, la comunicazione umana sembra affidata soltanto a uno strumento “freddo” (in quanto tecnologico e “funzionale”) quale è il telegrafo. Ma anch'esso, però, in tempo di barbarie, perde la sua unica funzione (quella, appunto, di facilitare la comunicazione tra gli uomini) e ne assume un'altra del tutto inumana (quella di crocifisso per i giovani: i «figli»).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;" /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"&gt;I salici (piangenti) sono le piante a cui sono appese, volontariamente, le cetre dei poeti. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Quasimodo descrive la desolazione post-bombardamento.&amp;nbsp; Anche se il nazi-fascismo andava debellato, il poeta è profondamente scosso dalla ferocia della guerra e dai lutti che essa porta con sé. Nella poesia, Quasimodo non parla di un lutto in particolare, ma di quello totalizzante riguardante la città di Milano che, nella poesia, risulta essere «morta». &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Ad alimentare la polemica c’era il “Corriere della Sera” le cui pagine culturali, all’epoca, erano fortemente influenzate da Montale.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;Il clima rovente e avvelenato, non si è mai completamente sopito e – a distanza di anni – c’è ancora qualcuno che non si dà pace del fatto che nel 1959(**) a vincere il Nobel fu Quasimodo e non altri.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;Viste le carte, il professor Tiozzo racconta come andarono i fatti e ricorda, tra le altre cose come la poesia di Quasimodo fosse (fin dal 1948) assai nota e apprezzata in Svezia (al contrario di quella di Ungaretti e di Montale) grazie a sapienti traduzioni e a contributi critici che ne mettevano in luce il valore universale e morale. Inoltre, Tiozzo ricorda come, nel Dopoguerra, l’Accademia fosse assai sensibile ai trascorsi politici degli scrittori e che, nel dubbio se conferire il riconoscimento a Ungaretti o a Quasimodo (messi da parte gli altri candidati), prevalse il poeta siciliano in quanto una perizia affidata a &lt;b&gt;Ingemar Wizelius&lt;/b&gt; mise, tra l’altro, in rilievo come &lt;b&gt;Ungaretti &lt;/b&gt;fosse stato ”il poeta più rappresentativo del periodo fascista”, mentre, al contrario, &lt;b&gt;Quasimodo &lt;/b&gt;aveva ottenuto fama internazionale proprio a ridosso della caduta del Regime. Inoltre il poeta siculo sembrava avere ancora molto da dire, al contrario di Ungaretti al cui vena sembrava essersi esaurita.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;Uno contributo, quello di Tiozzo, di cui non sarà possibile non tener conto in futuro.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;    &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Nel marzo del 1963, nella casa milanese del Premio Nobel per la Letteratura, &lt;b&gt;Oriana Fallaci&lt;/b&gt; (1929 - 2006) intervistò &lt;b&gt;Salvatore Quasimodo&lt;/b&gt; (1901 - 1968) per “L'Europeo”. Nel medesimo anno, diciotto delle interviste apparse tra il dicembre dell'anno precedente e il luglio di quell'anno, vennero riunite in volume dalla giornalista e date alle stampe dall'editore Rizzoli con il titolo &lt;i&gt;Gli antipatici&lt;/i&gt;. Il volume ottenne un immediato successo, tanto da meritare cinque edizioni tra il 1963 e il 1970 e la traduzione in sei paesi. Non più ristampato dopo la quinta edizione, &lt;i&gt;Gli antipatici&lt;/i&gt; è ora (gennaio 2009) di nuovo in libreria edito nella collana che BUR Rizzoli dedica a Oriana Fallaci.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Laura Laurenzi, nella &lt;i&gt;Prefazione&lt;/i&gt; all'edizione 2009 del volume, afferma che, dalle interviste, emerge una Fallaci che non si concede alcuna «smanceria», alcun «conformismo», ma anzi dimostra «[...] una certa inclinazione al maltrattamento e al politicamente scorretto»&lt;span class="MsoFootnoteReference"&gt;[1]&lt;/span&gt;. Ricorda come le interviste fossero tutte audio-registrate; sottolinea come la giovane Fallaci (aveva all'epoca 34 anni) non risparmiasse giudizi «quasi sempre inappellabili» e ammette che quello dedicato a Salvatore Quasimodo era «Un ritratto di rara perfidia [...]»&lt;span class="MsoFootnoteReference"&gt;[2]&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;In effetti a Quasimodo non piacque la versione dell'intervista pubblicata dalla Fallaci e non lo mandò a dire: in quel medesimo 1963 pubblicò, all'interno della rubrica che firmava per “Le Ore”, l'epigramma &lt;i&gt;La simpatica&lt;/i&gt;&lt;span class="MsoFootnoteReference"&gt;[8]&lt;/span&gt; scritto contro la giornalista. Tale epigramma il poeta ripubblicò l'anno seguente nella rubrica di colloqui con i lettori che curava per il settimanale “Il Tempo”, accompagnandolo con parole che mettono in dubbio la fedeltà della trascrizione dell'intervista così come pubblicata dalla Fallaci:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;La veridicità dell'intervista, inoltre, è messa in dubbio anche da due versi dell'epigramma stesso: quelli nei quali della Fallaci si dice che «Scrive interviste immaginarie | incise su nastri di reggicalze:». Insomma, Quasimodo, seppur non neghi esplicitamente il fatto di avere incontrato Oriana Fallaci e di aver risposto alle di lei domande, nega che quanto dalla giornalista pubblicato possa essere definita come la trascrizione fedele di quanto da lui affermato, o la cronaca veritiera di quanto accaduto. Anzi, della Fallaci e della di lei professionalità, il poeta dà un ritratto assai negativo, restituendo al lettore la figura di una zitella umorale che tenta di appagare gli istinti sessuali scaricandoli nella scrittura. Un finale che, se da un lato si giustifica ricordando che il componimento rientra nella categoria degli epigrammi&lt;span class="MsoFootnoteReference"&gt;[11]&lt;/span&gt;, dall'altro rivela il livello d'ira che l'intervista aveva prodotto nell'intervistato.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Dal duello combattuto a distanza tra la Fallaci e Quasimodo non si può dire chi uscì sconfitto e chi vincitore. Resta il fatto che i lettori odierni possono leggere due scritti che, al di là del loro valore intrinseco o dell'essere o meno cronaca veritiera (e lo si afferma sia per l'intervista, sia per l'epigramma), danno comunque ragione di un incontro tra una giornalista che – di lì a qualche anno – sarebbe diventata una delle italiane più famose del mondo e un poeta che già era (e sarebbe rimasto) uno degli italiani più celebri e celebrati in tutto il mondo. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

Il loro incontro, forse, non poteva che tramutarsi in uno scontro.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

Essa si presenta su quattro fogli  dattiloscritti con diverse interlinee e in due lingue differenti,  ovvero lo svedese e l'italiano. La parte di testo in svedese (scritta  con interlinea doppia) è riservata all'intervistatore che, però, rivolge  le domande a Quasimodo direttamente in lingua italiana. Le risposte del  poeta (scritte con interlinea singola) sono in italiano.&lt;/div&gt;Il  testo non reca alcuna data. In considerazione del contenuto, esso è  databile tra la data dell'annuncio del conferimento del Premio (22  ottobre 1959, così come da &lt;a href="http://salvatorequasimodo.blogspot.com/2009/01/telegrammi-da-e-per-stoccolma.html"&gt;Telegramma ufficiale&lt;/a&gt;) e quella della consegna a Stoccolma del medesimo (10 dicembre 1959).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;i&gt;Ad oggi l'intervista non risulta sia mai stata resa pubblica in Italia&lt;/i&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;

Ho avuto [il telegramma]   e ho risposto con queste parole: “Il riconoscimento altissimo di  codesta Accademia onora la mia poesia e una delle patrie della civiltà.  Diventa così più profondo il  legame umano e umanistico di  scrittore con la terra svedese, che ha grandi poeti e misura critica per  la cultura del mondo contemporaneo.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ho qui un giornale. Lei, padre dell ermetismo (sic). Quando sono stati pubblicati i primi libri ermetici...?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Quasimodo:  Sono i miei del 1930 e del 1932. L'ermetismo è stato un movimento  poetico e culturale che ha rimesso in discussione tutto il linguaggio  tradizionale, o ritenuto tale, della poesia italiana. Più tardi, le  forme chiuse sono state da me spezzate per arrivare al discorso lirico  di avvicinamento all'epico.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Lei  si trovava a (sic) Russia l'anno scorso durante la grande polemica  intorno a Pasternak? Quale fu l'atteggiamento del popolo russo? &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Quasimodo:  Un atteggiamento di bonaria indifferenza, perché la posizione  spirituale di Pasternak è lontana almento (sic) di quarant'anni dalle  nuove generazioni.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Lei professore ha avuto successo anche in Russia? C'era un referendum?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Quasimodo:  Sì, c'è stato di recente un referendum per indicare gli scrittori più  importanti del mondo. Ho avuto la sorpresa di vedere segnato per primo  il mio nome.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Lei e (sic) stato tradotto in molte lingue – quante?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Quasimodo: in tutte le lingue come risulta dalla bibliografia annessa al libro di traduzione del poeta Oesterling.&lt;/li&gt;
