It’s been a while huh?
Sorry for that. Life gotten rather interesting for Samuel and those of us that love him.
First of all we will be done in Lincoln on 16 July. If you go back 6 months Samuel was just feeling sick. So in the last 6 months life for him, myself, and almost everyone [...]

I taught my son how to shave today.
What an amazing thing, “fatherhood” is…
Parenting is a thankless job. Long hours and tons of money and work usually taken in stride and for granted. We never complain or mind though, do we?
I know that being a mother is a sacred thing. Giving life and nurturing it into [...]

Its a good day!
So here is the newest scoop.
First off he is growing more independent every day. He goes to all of his therapies by himself. I follow shortly after but he knows where they are and follows his own schedule. All of his meals are taken in the cafeteria now. He readies himself for [...]

So Here is the scoop.
Since we have been back at Madonna Samuel has made progress in leaps and bounds. In all areas he is becoming stronger and more capable.
He is walking as much as any one can. His balance is great. He gets a bit wobbly after hours of exertion but his stamina increases daily.
We [...]

Ok. Some better news today.
Samuel is doing much better. We started another medication, acetazolamide. While this may somewhat contraindicated for kidney disease his urine output and quality are good and have been for a while. It has done the trick which is what we needed.
The swelling beneath the bone flap area is improving. While there [...]

So…
Surgery yesterday to remove shunt. It went well. Its out.
G/J tube removed.
Now? Something else is wrong. He is not himself. Dunno if it is hydrocephalus. New attitude. Something else.
ICP is still good but brain is definitely changing again.
He is more agitated. More tired. Wont eat. Phantom pain.
He is sooo tired. Sooo miserable. I just want [...]

Yep it has been a while.
Honestly there was little to tell you all. Samuel continues to progress but the daily progression is sometimes about the same as the day before. Not having any acute issues to share about and the blogging has slowed down. There is just so little to tell.
Physical Therapy – Walking unassisted [...]

Hello!
Okies here’s the scoop.
First of all Sam is definitely improving. His strength, coordination, stamina and attitude have all improved immensely.
He is up to a dozen or so words in his vocabulary.
He can stand up unassisted.
He can walk for well over 5 minutes at a time.
Brushing his teeth.
Showering.
Putting on his shirt.
So many good things…
His right arm [...]

Happy birthday JAKEY!!!!
Sam and I miss you soooo much! We will all three be together again soon.
Now onto the report.
I know my posts have slowed down. This is because all in all there is less to talk about.
The good thing is that while some minor medical issues persist Samuel is really doing well health wise.
