Way back in June last year, on a very, very hot day in Nottingham we had a little studio shoot! :)

Prior to this shoot I met Alys at a craft fair in West Bridgford, I instantly fell in love with her jewellery, it's so original and unique! It's all hand crafted from vintage and precious materials which she finds at car boots and vintage fairs. I subsequently took a trip over to her studio and borrowed some of my favourite pieces for a fashion shoot! Upon seeing the results Alys asked me to take some photos for her and here is the result....

This is Lhoryn, local part time model. We decided to get togther, along with awesome MUA Emma Grant to create some nice head and shoulders shots on various themes. Unfortunately we only had an hour to shoot as Lhoryn had to rush off the work at the last minute. So we were only able to get two looks in. This first one is 50's glamour inspired. Stargazing LIVE

To coincide with the BBC Two show "Stargazing LIVE" my local park, home to Wollaton Hall (which will be featured later this year in the film The Dark Knight Rises) held a special event for those potty about stars and just eager to look through a telescope and hope to see Jupiter! We just went to try and take some photos of the park at night time (it usually closes at dusk), it was absolutely freezing and my toes were about to fall off but I did last longer than an hour! Yippeeee! The photos you are about to see aren't good by any stretch, it's more just to prove to myself and everyone else that I actually did go and I did take something! Next time, I would love a telescope attached to the camera, to get really up close and personal, although I'd be more inclined to do so when there's not silly light pollution! Anyway, I'm waffling now aren't I... these photos were all done with exposures ranging from 30 seconds to 3 minutes - I really to have admiration for those who actually have the stamina and patience to take amazing photos of star trails and the like... I am not one of those people...

Alternative Graduation!

Hello! It's 2012 and even though I have other shoots still to blog from last year I couldn't resist kicking off the New Year (yes, I know we're in week 2 now) with something really rather amusing! One of my friends asked me if I could recreate her graduation photo, it'd been lost in the post I think and her parents and grandparents were most disappointed. So she trundled up from London with a specially rented gown and I shot her new graduation photo! Of course, since I shot these in my living room my boyfriend and I couldn't resist having a go as well, along with some household items (a uke should be in every house). So I present to you Erin Gallagher's Alternative Graduation... along with Phil Formby's and me... well... I've never graduated so I didn't know what to do...

PENNYFEST 3

Last night I attended PENNYFEST 3 in the Derby Silk Mill Museum, not open to the public but it is a great location to hold an event such as this one! This great little event was hosted by Derby promoters Apples for Discos and local online magazine & networking site Hatch'd Magazine is to raise money for Penny's Fund. Pennyfest 2 was held this summer and a mini documentry was made by Philip Formby, you can see it HERE.

It's taken me a very long time to write about these particular photos or intact to blog at all. For this I apologise, unfortunately I haven't been feeling very well and have therefore not really wanted to do anything, not even blog!!! Scandallous!! These photos I have to blog about are not my own, they are courtesy of Nottingham City Hospital and are of my little wriggler!! Scary as hell but also very exciting, I'm going to be a mummy!! The little one is bigger than this now as I'm now 18weeks and not 12! Here are the photographs I did for local designer Siobhan Noon's graduate collection! I wanted to keep the shots simple because there is so much detail in the clothing. As you can see the outfits are inspired by origami, so I decided to sit with my boyfriend the night before the shoot and make lots of paper cranes, which I then hung from the ceiling! The triangular hair was done by Ayesha Caunt-Buonocore, make-up by Natalie Fox and the young lady throwing the shapes is Shannen Varney! It's all about angles in this shoot!

Death Becomes Her

I'm a little late in publishing these images to my blog as they were supposed to be for a magazine but the issue got cancelled so I can now reveal them to you! The theme was "favourite scenes from a movie" and I chose the film Death Becomes Her. Brilliant film, if you haven't seen, it you should, it's funny and has Brucie in it!! For those of you that have seen the film, I'm sure you can guess the scene I chose.
I gathered my creative team together and we headed to Wollaton Hall for an evening. They shots were lit with two Speedlites and I'm not a Photoshop whizz in the slightest but those wholes literally took me 2 gruelling days to perfect! And even now some Photoshop whizzes would probably laugh at my attempt, I on the other hand am very proud of myself and feel invincible in the world of photo editing now! :) This is the first time I've really used textures as well so as a whole I'm particularly fond of this shoot! And as always, feedback would be most appreciated! Thanks x

My little sister came to visit me a few weeks ago for the first time which was really nice!! We went to Splendour Festival, got incredibly burnt and whilst hungover we went to the arboretum in Nottingham City Centre and took some photos, here is the result! My sister is one for wearing hair extensions and false eyelashes all the time, I think she looks prettier without!

I've been really bad and haven't blogged this month, not because I'm lazy or anything but because I haven't had a proper internet connection, was lent a dongle but boy was it slow! I sent an email with a few small low res jpegs in it, it took over half an hour to upload. Anywho, less of my moaning.

These images are my favourites from a shoot that I did for Ashleigh Turner Hair Design, they were to enter into the British Hairdresser Awards, we wanted to keep them nice and simple so we went for white bckground and black clothing. I then desaturated them a little in post production and put this nice border around them. Like I said, these are my favourite shots but are not the ones that Ashleigh entered into the competition.

Ashleigh had organised 5 models for the shoot even though she only needed 4 different images, 2 of the models didn't turn up so this is Emma, she did the make up for the shoot and we made her model for us too! She was a star!! The models were also given two different hair styles so that Ashleigh would havep plenty to choose from for her entry.

We arranged an on location shoot, the plan was to go to Rushcliffe Country Park, I had no plan b, I had to make a plan b. Kate and I both awoke at 7am and panicked, such a down pour, no way was there going to be an outdoor shoot. Since I have a background in catering I scratched my head and searched my brain for people I know who are working in bars and restaurants in Nottingham. We managed to get into The Pitcher and Piano in the Lace Market thanks to a lovely chap that I used to work with, he and the staff we more than happy to let us roam around the bar, climb on tables and generally get in the way and it was well worth it, we were able to get so many different looks in such a short space of time! Here are a few of my favourite shots! Tell me what you think! :)

I just thought I'd blog a few behind the scenes images from a shoot I did yesterday! Katherine Kerrison is the designer... her clothing is really pretty and cute and girl and I love love it!! The model was Jameela Elfaki , she's gorgeous, very sweet and the camera loves her, ALOT! Make-up was done by the amazing Sarah Vaites and hair by Ashleigh Turner! Last week whilst I was at the West Bridgford Craft fair I came across a lovely lady who makes equally lovely jewellery, she also happens to be my of really good friends' sister, Nottingham is sooo small! The White Room!

It's taken me two weeks to finally edit all the images that I shot for a bridal shoot! It's always worth the effort though! Shot in the studio in Ruddington. Hair and Make-up by Ashleigh Turner and dresses supplied by The White Room who unfortunately couldn't be there on day! I've never done this kinda of shoot before, I've done studio shoots I know but never had to pay so much attention to the dresses and how they look in the shots. It's good practice for me, especially if I ever do shoots where there's no designer. Anyway, here's some of my favourtie images from the shoot. I've done a bit more of a fashion edit to some of them, for my taste! :) Enjoy!

I've been a fan and follower of the photographer Lara Jade for about 3 or so years and last Tuesday se tweeted that she was in need of an assistant in London the day after! In the spirit of spontaneity I emailed her, got the day off work and got my ragedy ass up at 5am and went down to the big smoke. I was unbelievably nervous, I've assisted at the portrait studio for about 7 months now but fashion is a whole different ball game I had no idea what to expect, especially since I was waiting outside Neil Cornelius 1st Floor Hair Salon on Bond Street... Vogue... Tatler...
My nerves weren't totally gone once I'd met everyone and got inside, it was great just seeing how everyone was working, how the story was coming together and when I got to look on the back of the camera I was truely inspired!! Lara is a lovely lady and the creative team were all great and well... creative! :) I think I'm going to go on her London workshop in August, the learning process is very important! Anyway... it was a great day, I learnt alot and surprisingly I didn't get burnt on the rooftop of the salon, I was so tired by the end of it, here's some photos that I managed to snap on my iphone... in no particular order...
