Ancestry One - Samantha Rochard - 12" x 18" Acrylic on CanvasWHAT IS OBEAH REALLY?Most think its evil. Lets walk down that trail for a bit and I will tell you what I found. So I began reading about obeah sometime last year. I seem to have this obsession with spiritual paths that I have been told were evil. I like to read about their teachings and symbols and history to figure out for myself what

The next series of paintings that I am compiling and working out required reading texts about OBEAH. Getting down to the truth of the matter of what OBEAH actually is and the narrative that was forced upon the Caribbean people is crucial to creating this series of paintings. The TRUTH has already been unraveled by several persons in their research, and also several artists. I am actually

Recently an NFT collector who was scanning works on FineArt America came across my works and requested that I mint some of them for NFT's and he would purchase them. Well look…… first thing that ran through my mind was that this was a scam. Yuh know how Trinis suspicious of anything too tech! After much thought and twisting the issue in meh head I realized that I really have nothing to

TRANSCENDENCE24" X 36" ACRYLIC ON STRETCHED CANVASMany texts about spiritual journeys describe an individual in the raw, from humble beginnings; who goes through a transition and becomes more than themselves. This painting began sometime in 2011 and was not actually completed until 2019?I have never posted it for discussion, hoping that persons who were exposed to it 'live' will open up the door

After two years of not painting, I am finally back at the canvas. I can seriously tell you that this is proving to be rusty, choppy and sporadic in terms of execution. My flow has gone, and solutions which were a no brainer (painting) are now difficult. Its like I am relearning. But like Stuart Hahn says...the art memory will return soon. This painting is being created to honour something I

Claude Monet, famous French painter and leader of the Impressionist movement, is known for his innovative use of color and light. The Impressionists shift from ultra detail to blots and blobs of colour to render the object on canvas caused a sensation among the art critiques at the time. He has many masterworks, but, the painting that stands out as the most well-known is undoubtedly "Water Lilies

There is beauty in simplicity I know I have spoken about a minimalist life before on this blog. Recent events in the past four years have really altered my perspective of what I need to be happy. I have lost some family members and friends, and it struck me how all their possessions, and things that they adored sometimes to the point of covetousness; really was useless. I think of the

After a recent mail-out; I realized that some people who follow me wanted to know more about the "real me".  Or should I say get some perspective on how I think and what drives me to create. I will attempt more personal posts to try to portray that. I have found that many people idealize and romanticize the artist's life. It certainly is not a bed of roses....but whatever it is I would

Marcel DuChamp - Nude Descending Staircase. -DuChamp was attempting to create the idea of movement and tried to capture every possible image of a person going down a staircase. We are enslaved by the lives we live I have many questions about the Meaning and Quality of Life. I don't find many answers. I do sometimes find answers for me. One day I woke up and realized that the life I was chasing, because I was told that that is the right path to take; was tiring, exhausting. I was not in control of my life. My life was in control of me. The never ending treadmill to
