Update on Munkey...

Ciara (Munkey) is not home yet. Her pneumonia is clearing up some but she started getting really bad headaches with a lot of nausea and sensitivity to light so today they are going to be running several tests to find out what is causing them. Her hemoglobin has also decreased in the days since she arrived there, so they are also concerned about this. As of right now it looks like it will be a few more days before she can come home, and of course it also depends on the results of the tests they run today. I am on the way there now, stayed home a bit late to reply to some emails and try to get some winners drawn, but it's time to spend the rest of the day there. It's very hard to see her laying there in the hospital bed looking so miserable...

Winter Breeze
Ingredients:
1 oz creme de cacao

1 oz vanilla schnapps

1 oz Irish cream

milk

Preparation: Pour liquors into a beer mug, and fill with milk. Stir, and serve.

Chocolate Snowball
Ingredients:
2 oz coconut rum

2 oz Irish cream

1 oz hazelnut liqueur

3 1/2 oz melted chocolate

3 1/2 oz cream

1 dash chocolate syrup

Preparation: Place the chocolate syrup around the glass then place the other ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Strain into glass.

A New Journey...

This is how much I weigh today.

At my heaviest, I weighed 165 pounds and that was nine months pregnant with Sam. So 188 pounds is a HUGE weight gain, still I was almost relieved because I was almost sure I weighed over 200 pounds, since it's been a few years since I had the strength to weigh myself. Overall I guess it's not as bad as it could have been which gives me reason to believe that I can lose some of this weight. I don't want to be thin, I would just be happy in a size 12, the way I used to be. Now I wear a size 16 bordering on 18 and I feel pretty horrible most of the time.

So today we got a family plan at the local gym, and we even went for an hour to test it out! This is when I decided that I was not just going to weigh myself, but that I was going to share it on here. This should be quite a journey because I have never been one to exercise. Will I be able to do it? I hope so and I am excited for the journey ahead, I really think this is going to be something very positive for all of us.

Kids Chore Charts And More @ GoalForIt.Com Review ~!

Because one of my new years resolutions is to get the family more organized, I was very interested in reviewing Goal For It! Daily life gets really hectic here during the week and keeping everyone on track with chores, goals and even the huge to-do-list of items that has to be done, can get hectic. Finding a site where I can get all this stuff organized and real charts to keep the kids on track, is really nice. Goal For It! has really neat chore chart that I knew the minute I saw it, would be one of the charts that we could really use for the kids and the teens!

Okay so you know a chart is no good if you can't use it. If it's either complicated or even boring, you will simply forget about it. That is what is so neat about Goal For It! and their charts. These charts are easy to use, but they are also really cute and you are able to personalize each one to your child so they will really like them.

There are many designs for both boys and girls and once you have done that adding chores to the chart is easy. You are able to pick on what days each chore has to be done and can also have reminders sent to you vial email. Once your charts are done you can either keep them online or you can print them. This was the best option for us, we printed them and put them side by side on the fridge for easy reach by the kids.

Goal For It! won't just help you keep your kids chore charts under control, you can use the site for many other things. Set up your FREE account and use it to keep all the things in your life organized, I have been using the To Do List and even have my grocery list on there. I update as we run out of items and when it's time to go to the store I print the list out and know exactly what I need to buy. You can create a goal setting chart or a goal tracker to keep track of those goals you really want to reach. There are also behavioral and healthy habits charts that keep kids on track with things they might be having a hard time doing; like brushing their teeth twice a day, saying please and thank you, or behaving in school. Angel has had a few problems with talking in class so this is one of the things he has on his charts and he likes being able to get home and checking off that he was good that day.

Overall I think this is a great site that has resources that can really be of use to families. Remember this is all free and there is no obligation for any kind of purchase. Use the charts and lists for your convenience and become a more organized person. The kids will really like the colorful personalized charts too.

Dora the Explorer, created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh Valdes and Eric Weiner, is a play-along, animated adventure series starring Dora is a seven-year-old Latina heroine whose adventures take place in an imaginative, tropical world filled with jungles, beaches and rainforests. She explores her world just as preschoolers do every day, and the show is designed to actively engage its audience in an interactive quest using a variety of learning techniques.

In every episode, Dora and Boots invite the audience to participate in an exciting adventure, where each step of their journey consists of a problem or puzzle that Dora and the audience must think their way through in order to solve the next problem. Dora is proudly bilingual and uses her knowledge of English and Spanish to communicate with her friends, overcome obstacles and reach her goals. In each episode, Dora teaches Spanish words or phrases to the viewers and then asks them to use it to solve a problem and forge ahead. Ultimately, Dora and her best friend, Boots, triumph, and the story always ends with a “We Did It!” anthem.

When I first used clear internet service it was for work but now that I’ve got my own company I still use it all the time. It’s really nice having internet when I’m out on a job with the boys and I know my wife likes having it, too, because when I get home at night she can look up whatever she needs to and get it all done at once. She loves to online shop so I know that if I need to look up anything for a build (I’m a real estate developer) I need to do it before I get home otherwise I’m never going to have access to the computer. I sometimes sit in the parking lot at work and look up materials before I get going just to make sure I’m not going to be sorry I turned the laptop over before I do. I can’t imagine doing anything other than this line of work and it’s really satisfying knowing every house we build is from my head.

Here are a few tips that help me get the kids cooking and eating healthier.

In our home we eat a very diversified diet and it's not always easy to keep it healthy, the kids love fast junk food meals. I don't stress on this though, and just try to incorporate as much "healthy" as I can into every meal. Even if it's hot dogs, you can add a side of fruit instead of chips.

Let the kids plan the meal. Angel who is 6 loves to help plan lunch or dinner on weekends. We let him decide the main course and then help him choose some healthy side dishes. When it's time to eat he proudly lets everyone know that this meal was planned by him.

Start of at the beginning, shop for food together. Every Saturday there is a farmers market in our town and this is when we shop for fresh in season fruits and veggies. This is where I let the kids begin to plan the meals for the week, by first seeing what produce is available.

Let them help with the prepping. The younger children really are too little to help cook, but they make great assistants when it comes to mixing, stirring, opening packages, setting the table and other little jobs that can keep them away from the stove and safe.

Adding a few rice-based dishes to the weekly meal plan is also important. These can be hearty, delicious, healthy and a great way to steer them away from the not so healthy dinners they like to eat most of the time. This is also the best way to introduce them to new foods like salmon.

Involving your kids with healthy meal planning and preparation not only gives your kids a great head start to a healthier life. You also get more family time together, they learn how to cook and you make great memories that will keep with them until they are grown. It's a win-win all around.
