The Ex Factor

So my obsession with the Lush Kitchen doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast and at the end of February I made a little order as they had my absolute favourite soap Holy Cacao in the Kitchen and I couldn't resist adding this adorable little bomb to my order as well.

The Ex Factor was a Valentine's Day special bomb back in 2011, shaped like a little blue ginger bread man with a pink heart but he was far from romantic, The Ex Factor is supposed to represent an ex so you just pop him in the bath and let him fizzle away. I think this is such a cute idea for a bath bomb and it certainly looks adorable but I wasn't overly impressed by the scent. The Ex Factor is scented with synthetic musk and ylang ylang which is the same fragrance as their Butterball bath bomb which I know is a favourite for a lot of Lush fans. Personally whilst I like the scent of Butterball I can't stand how oily it makes my skin feel so in theory this should have been perfect for me but without all of the cocoa butter that Butterball has The Ex Factor lacked the creaminess in it's fragrance and I just felt that it was a bit lack lustre.

It was a nice bomb to use and it made the water a pleasant blue colour but it just wasn't overly exciting in terms of scent and so I don't think I'd buy this again if Lush decided to bring it back.

Nails | Vintage Purple Patterns With The MoYou London Fashionista Plate

Over the past three months I've really been loving my MoYou stamping plates, I seem to have amassed quite a few plates and after some trial and error I think I've gotten the hang of using them. For this look I used a base of Barry M's Gelly Nail Paint in Coconut and then used the Moyou stamping polish in Purple Punch with the Fashionista Plate 08 and sticky stamper. The only thing that slightly bothers me is that as I have quite small nails I only manage to get parts of the designs onto my nails instead of the full image.

5 Looks With The Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette

I haven't done a post like this in absolutely ages but I got this palette for Christmas and I've been using it so much over the past couple of months I thought I'd do a little post and show you some of the ways I've been using it. Urban Decay palettes are undoubtedly my favourite eyeshadows and I love my Naked 1 and Naked 3 but I don't think I would have actually picked this palette up for myself as the shades are all quite bright and in your face which isn't what I'm used to. However since getting the Vice 4 I've loved trying out the brighter shades and I've rekindled my old love of bright blue eyeshadow. There are still some shades I haven't properly tried yet like Crowbar (the sparkly gold) and Beatdown (a sort of bluey purple) but I've found a new favourite in Flame which is the most beautiful shimmery peachy orange and Framed which is perfect for blending out harsh edges. Lush Easter 2016 | Bunch Of Carrots Reusable Bubble Bar

Bunch Of Carrots- £6.25

This is my absolute favourite product from Lush's Easter range, adorable carrot shaped bubble bars tied together with paper leaves, they are pretty pricey at £6,25 but when compared to the huge Easter bombs Humpty Dumpty and Which Came First? they're actually much better value. I've managed to get two baths out of each carrot which I was pretty impressed with and as you can see half a carrot made a huge amount of bubbles and turned the water a pleasant sugary pink colour so you should be able to get baout six baths for your £6.25.

The scent used in Bunch Of Carrots is an all time favourite of mine, I love any products with Bergamot oil in them and the scent works fabulously in Bunch Of Carrots, it also contains Buchu oil and Sicilian lemon oil which combine to give it a tropical fruity scent perfect for spring. It's also the same scent as they're Snowman shower jelly from the Christmas range although ironically Snowman contains carrot oil and Bunch Of Carrots doesn't which seems pretty strange to me but I'm sure Lush have their reasons.

I really wish Lush would add this scent to their permanent range perhaps in a Comforter style bubble bar but for now I suppose I will have to content myself with savouring my little Bunch Of Carrots.

Lush Kitchen | Romance In A Stone

So I've been ordering rather a lot from the Lush Kitchen recently, I get really excited when they have new bath bombs in the kitchen but they sell out so fast I often end up missing out but not this time. I managed to get my hands on this rather sweet little bomb a few weeks ago, I'd heard of Romance In The Stone from other Lushies but by the time I got into Lush they'd already stopped selling it and so when I saw it in the kitchen I popped it straight into my basket. It's a pretty small bomb, around the same size as Butterball I think, but it contains an impressive amount of rose petals and was more than strong enough to give me a scent filled bath. In terms of scent I wasn't all that impressed by this particular bomb, Romance In A Stone contains orange blossom, sweet wild orange oil, Sicilian Mandarin oil and tangerine oil so I was expecting something extra fresh and uplifting. I found that it actually had a strange sort of scent which is possibly the combination of the rose petals on top of all that orange, it lacked the bright zestiness I expected and smelt more muted and almost creamy with the floral scent mixing with the orange.

It was pretty relaxing to watch the little bomb fizzing around spewing out rose petals and I was surprised to find hidden inside the bomb was a little sonnet, I love when Lush add these little touches to their bath bombs. The first bomb I ever used was Blackberry Bomb which contains a scroll with a little comic book style Boom! Boom! written on it so it always makes me feel a little nostalgic to see some surprise emerge from the centre of a bath bomb.

I am glad that I bought this and it was pleasant to use but I didn't enjoy the scent as much as I'd thought I would so I probably wouldn't buy this bomb again.

Lush Easter 2016 | Bouncy Bunny Shower Jelly

I'm a big fan of Lush's orange scented products so when I saw this adorable orange scented bunny I was pretty excited, as I said in my Lush Easter haul I couldn't actually smell this in the store as it was overpowered by all the other products in the store. Once I got it home and took off the lid I was pleased to find that the orange scent was actually pretty strong and it reminded me a lot of the Brightside bubble bar which is one of my favourite Lush products.

This has a pretty simple fragrance compared to most Lush products, Bouncy Bunny contains Brazilian orange oil and gardenia extract so the scent is pretty much entirely orange which I think is perfect for spring as it's really uplifting and sweet.

On Lush's site the Bunny looks mostly orange but from what I've seen they're actually more of a creamy beige with orange splodges like mine, this kind of gives it the appearance of a fried egg which is certainly Easter appropriate whether it's intentional or not.

Like all Lush's shower jellies Bouncy Bunny is pretty softening and this one has more of a creamy lather than most of the jellies I've tried which I really liked but it's such an awkward shape to hold I had to rip off his ears and head in order to use it which felt a little mean.

I have enjoyed using this but it's definitely not my favourite of Lush's jellies although Bouncy Bunny would definitely make a great gift for friends who don't like chocolate this Easter.

Lush Easter 2016 | Which Came First? Bath Bomb

If you're a big Lush fan then you've probably seen this big Easter bomb before but this is the first year that I've actually bought one as I've always been a bit put off by the price. I love Lush but £6.95 for a bath bomb is pretty expensive although the idea is that you can get three baths out of this huge bomb by breaking it into two pieces to reveal a hidden chick shaped bomb in the centre.
I actually found it pretty difficult to break this apart and in the end I had my dad sawing at it with a kitchen knife until finally it broke apart rather dramatically and half the bomb and the chick flew into the tub. So in theory you can get three baths out of this but you have to be pretty careful when you break it apart otherwise like me you can end up with most of this huge bomb all in one bath.
In terms of scent this has rather a musky vanilla fragrance, it also contains lemon oil and grapefruit oil as well as gardenia extract but I couldn't really smell much of these scents once the bomb had dissolved in the water, it smelt a little bit like the Twilight bath bomb but a little more sugary sweet.
Once in the water Which Came First? dissolved really quick and turned the water a lovely dusky pink colour, it's not exactly the most exciting of Lush's bath bombs but the scent was pretty strong and stayed with me long after I got out of the tub.
I think if you're looking for an alternative to an Easter egg for a friend or relative then this is probably the most giftable product from this years Easter range and the sweet vanilla scent is the next best thing to a chocolatey treat.

Lush Easter 2016 | Humpty Dumpty Bath Bomb

This slightly creepy little guy is the Humpty Dumpty bath bomb, following on from there popular egg shaped bomb Which Came First? The idea with the huge bomb is to break it into two halves to reveal a secret little bath bomb in the middle. I'd already seen a review of this before I used it so I knew that there's a fried egg shaped bomb hidden inside of Humpty Dumpty and I carefully sawed him in half to get to the little egg. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to have a hollow middle like the likes of Which Came First? or Love Locket which meant that I couldn't actually get the fried egg part out as it was completely stuck to the rest of the bomb, whilst I appreciate that this means I'm actually getting more bath bomb for my money I was a little disappointed that I couldn't use the fried egg on its own.

In terms of scent this bomb is very similar to the Honey I Washed The Kids range but is perhaps a little more toffee like and warm, I really wouldn't have gotten this scent from looking at the ingredients as Humpty Dumpty is packed with Brazillian orange oil and bergamot oil. When I first smelt this I got a little hint of the orange fruity tones but once in the water I couldn't detect any of the orange scent in the bath bomb at all which was a little bit of a let down as I was looking forward to the mix of toffee and orange.

As you can see I didn't manage to get the fried egg out of the middle of my Humpty Dumpty so I only got two baths out of this huge bomb which I thought was a shame and I don't think it's great in terms of value. It was nice to try something new but I think as it smells so much like honey I'd rather buy Honey Bee bath bomb over Humpty Dumpty in the future.

My Little Bubble Box

I have been finding My Little Box a little bit hit and miss over the past few months but this month's box was so cute and I actually liked everything in the box, I'm not exactly sure what this month's theme is really supposed to be as it just says 'Bubble' but I loved the pastel pink and blue box. The contents of the box were equally as cute and it was an entirely beauty filled boxed for a change unless you count the balloon.

My Little Beauty Detangling Hairbrush

Since buying my Tangle Teezer last year I've pretty much only used that to brush my hair as it's the only thing that has managed to get through my wild mane without pulling out half my hair or getting completely stuck in it. I really like the design of this, it's cute and fun like the rest of MLB's products, but I was a bit skeptical about actually using it still I gave it a go and was surprised to find that it's actually pretty good. It doesn't quite glide through my hair with ease like my Tangle Teezer but it can brush out my knotty hair with a minimal amount of pain and without too much effort and it's a pretty good size to fit in my handbag so that's straight where it's heading.

My Little Beauty Beauty Bubble

I actually have a Beauty Blender and haven't gotten round to giving it a proper go yet, I just automatically reach for a brush when I'm doing my makeup but I keep hearing so many people go on about how incredible they are so I'm definitely going to try to start using them so a spare should come in handy.

Garancia Pschitt Magique

I'm not entirely sure what this actually is, at first I thought it was just a face spray but then I read the little leaflet in the box and apparently you spray this on and then rinse it off so I'm not sure what it's supposed to be. According to the leaflet it smoothes, brightens and revives skin but I'm not sure how it does this if you rinse it off straight away but I'll give it a try.

My Little Beauty Bubble Blush

Back when I first started getting into more high end makeup I used to use Benefit's Benetint all the time and these little liquid lip and cheek tints seemed to pop up everywhere, I haven't actually used one of these tints for ages and to be honest I went off them. For the most part the ones I've used before have been thin and drying when used on my lips and almost unnoticeable on my cheeks but this one looks much more promising. The shade is a plummy pink which is perfect for a spring lip and the formula is a little thicker and more like a serum in texture which makes it a little easier to blend over cheeks so I'm definitely going to get my use out of this.

Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara

Seriously how pretty is that packaging? I love a good high end sample in my beauty boxes as usually they're things I would never think to go out and buy myself especially if I haven't tried them before hand. I don't think I've ever tried any makeup from Givenchy so I'm pretty excited to try this and I absolutely adore the packaging.

Lush Mother's Day | Ladybird Bubble Bar

This cute little guy is the Ladybird bubble bar and I think it's just absolutely adorable, scented with geranium oil and peppermint oil I wasn't overly keen when I gave it a sniff in store. When I first picked up Ladybird the only scent I could smell was the peppermint which isn't a scent I'm overly fond of when it comes to bath products but as it was so cute I decided to pick one up anyway.

This little bar was pretty difficult to crumble and in the end his head just sort of snapped off, Ladybird is quite a small bar but I actually managed to get three baths out of this bar and it created an impressive amount of bubbles each time. I was also pleased to find that once crumbled into the water the peppermint scent dissipated quite a lot and the scent became much more floral and relaxing with the peppermint adding a little sweetness to the scent.

I pretty much just bought this based on it's appearance and I wasn't really expecting all that much from it based on my initial sniff of it in store but Ladybird proved to be quite an impressive little bubble bar and one that I would definitely buy again.

Lush Mothers Day | Rose Bombshell

Whilst I'm not a fan of rose scented products I can't resist a seasonal product and so I just had to try out this pretty little bath bomb. Rose Bombshell is a pink bomb with roses embossed all over it, as it fizzled away across the water it turned the water a bright rosy pink and a bunch of yellow rose petals emerged from the centre of the bomb. To be honest I was expecting there to be more petals inside this bomb and perhaps for them to be a bit smaller and more like the Secret Garden bath bomb which was a Mother's Day product from a few years back. Secret Garden was absolutely packed with tiny yellow and purple petals which made for a really pretty floral bath whereas in Rose Bombshell the petals all looked a little limp and wilted against the bright pink of the water.

Rose Bombshell is scented with rose absolute, geranium oil, rose oil and lemon oil which is the same scent used in all the Rose Jam products which I love but with Rose Bombshell the lemon and geranium are much harder to detect and it's the rose which completely dominates this bomb. It's quite a powdery floral scent that's missing the sweet fruitiness that makes Rose Jam such a lovely fragrance to me, so although I enjoyed using this I can't say it's something I'd repurchase.

Trying Japanese Candy With Pete

I was kindly sent a sample of Oyatsu Ch Cha Cha's subscription box to try, if you follow my blog you'll know I'm a big fan of subscription boxes and this kind of box is a great way to try out Japanese snacks which are otherwise pretty difficult to get over here in the UK.There was a huge range of savoury snacks and candies which are so different from the snacks I'm used, although I can't say I'm a huge fan of the fish based foods.
The fact that there is a leaflet with the names of all the snacks and their ingredients was really helpful too especially for those who may have certain food allergies and this is one of the little touches that set Oyatsu Cha Cha Cha apart from other Japanese candy subscription boxes.
The boxes cost $39 a month with shipping included, this is a little pricey but you do get around 20 snacks in your box and the delivery was really quite fast considering this came all the way from Osaka Japan.

Lush Mothers Day | Yummy Mummy Shower Cream

Yummy Mummy is a shower gel that was released last year on Mother's Day but for some reason I never picked it up, this year they've released it again but following the popularity of the shower cremes in their Oxford Street store they've gone with the shower creme formula for this product.

I gave this a sniff in the store and to be honest I couldn't really smell much, but I did have a horrible cold at the time so that didn't help, even when I filmed my Lush Mother's Day haul (which you can watch here) I couldn't detect much of the fragrance. However I took this with me on a recent weekend away and as soon as I used it I discovered that it actually smells amazing, it has a sweet fruity fragrance with a creaminess that makes me think of those foamy mushroom shaped sweets I used to love when I was younger. It actually has a pretty similar scent to one of my other Lush favourites; Magic Mushroom which I believe was a limited edition product for Valentine's Day some years back, Yummy Mummy has geranium oil, Brazilian orange oil, tonka absolute and a large helping of cocoa butter.

In terms of appearance I really like Yummy Mummy with its creamy shade of lilac and the inclusion of Lush's snowflake lustre, it's one of the more overtly girly shower gels which is very suiting to the Mother's Day range and makes it a great gift for any Mothers out there in need of a good pamper.

As with Lush's other shower cremes it's very softening and nourishing without leaving skin feeling sticky or greasy like any of Lush's body butters which for me is really a bonus. The one problem I've had with this is that the delightful purple colour, whilst not noticeable on my skin, has left my cream towels with faint patches of plum on them but I'm sure this will wash out (I hope).

Lush Oxford Street | Cyanide Pill Bath Bomb

I'll admit this little bath bomb was somewhat ignored on my initial trip to Lush's Oxford Street store, amongst the likes of The Experimenter and Intergalactic it doesn't exactly stand out and I expected this to have an unpleasant earthy kind of scent along the lines of Supertramp. When I bought this I'd made a very precise list of what I wanted to buy to ensure I didn't go insane and buy everything, however they didn't have a couple of the items I really wanted so I kind of picked this up on a whim.

As the name would suggest this is shaped like a pill, with a yellow half and a white half so I was expecting this to give a gentle yellow tinge to the water and not much else. So I was surprised and happy to find that as this quickly fizzled away it turned the water a bright fluorescent yellow and loads of silver lustre covered the top of the water, it also had popping candy inside but to be honest I never feel like this adds much to my bathing experience.

In terms of scent this is quite unusual it doesn't have the earthy herbal scent I was expecting, this is filled with lemon oil, cedarwood oil, rosewood oil and almond essential oil. What hit me first was the almond oil along with the lemon which gave it a lightness which stopped the almond being too creamy and the rosewood oil gives it a gentle floral tone that's really refreshing.

I was really quite surprised by this little bomb it was much more impressive than I expected and it's definitely different from most of Lush's bomb's, I would love this to be added to the permanent range along with Guardian Of The Forest which is possibly my all time favourite bath bomb.

Vlog: Weekend In A Wheat Silo

Last weekend Pete and I drove to Clyro near Hay-On-Wye and stayed in a wheat silo that's been converted into a little cabin, it was so cute and cosy so I thought it'd be nice to make a little vlog over the weekend and show you what we got up to. I didn't get a chance to film walking around Hay-On-Wye as it rained pretty heavily for the whole weekend but it's mostly full of amazing bookshops and cute little antiques shops.

MAC Peachykeen Sheertone Shimmer Blush

I've been using Benefit's Rockateur Blusher fairly religiously over the past couple of years and I decided it was time to try something new, I'm not overly adventurous when it comes to blush as I'm super pale and worry about looking like a clown so I ended up going with something fairly similar to Rockateur.

Peachykeen is a shimmery warm toned peach that gives a rosy flush to cheeks, it's a lot more pigmented than Rockateur which I like as I sometimes find that Rockateur isn't quite dark enough even for a pale gal like me. This is labeled as a shimmer blush so I was worried that it would be overly sparkly or give an unnatural sheen to my cheeks but I find that once applied it is actually pretty matte on my skin, I suppose on a darker skin tone the shimmer would be more apparent but for me it gives a natural flush. I do apply this rather tentatively as it's quite easy to overdo it and ending up looking a bit sunburnt, so using my Real Techniques blush brush I gently swirl it over the blush, apply it lightly to the apples of my cheeks. I then sweep my Laura Mercier Invisible Pressed Setting Powder over the top, this blends out the blush a little and takes away any harsh edges for a more natural finish.

Overall I really like Peachykeen it's a really great blusher for winter, with just the right amount of warmth for a natural glow and the formula is great too.
