At Disney's Hollywood Studios, the iconic entrance animation courtyard archway is gone, marking a significant visual change to the park. Inside Walt Disney Presents, One Man's Dream, new models showcase the future of Disney World.

July 2025 Disney World Closures: Liberty Belle & Tom Sawyer Island

Two longtime staples of Magic Kingdom have officially taken their final voyages. The Liberty Belle Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island are now closed to make way for Walt Disney World's newest expansion: Piston Peak and Villains Land. Construction walls have gone up across Frontierland, and if you're riding the monorail, keep your eyes open—early staging work has already begun and is visible. Thanks to @bioreconstruct, we even have aerial images that show the impressive scale of what's coming next.

As these classic experiences fade into the past, guests have been spotting a few mysterious new doors around the construction zone. Are they functional? Themed? Or just a bit of Disney magic teasing what's to come? Time will tell.

July 2025 Disney World Holiday Season Preview

Walt Disney World has released full details for the upcoming 2025 holiday season. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party returns to Magic Kingdom with festive overlays and new entertainment. EPCOT's Festival of the Holidays is also back, bringing seasonal flavors and the Candlelight Processional to World Showcase from November 28 to December 30, 2025. And at Hollywood Studios, Disney Jollywood Nights continues its new holiday tradition with glitz, glam, and retro-inspired fun.

Ticket sale dates and event specifics were announced, providing planners with ample time to prepare for the season.

Haunted Mansion Merch & Small World Update at Disney World

New Haunted Mansion merchandise has materialized across the parks, with spooky styles perfect for any foolish mortal. These items are arriving just in time to celebrate Halloween-in-July vibes, offering apparel, accessories, and collectibles inspired by everyone's favorite ghostly retreat.

And starting July 17, 2025, It's a Small World will debut its emotional final verse. Originally penned by the late Richard Sherman as his last gift to Disney, the verse will premiere as part of Disneyland's 70th celebration and will also be added to the Walt Disney World version of the attraction.

Railroad Shuttle & Monsters Inc. Land Construction at Disney World

A new phrase is circulating—literally. Guests have begun to notice a "shuttle" operating on the Walt Disney World Railroad. This temporary change allows continued access while construction expands around the train's path, particularly as work intensifies in Frontierland.

At Disney Studios, we got a sneak peek into Disney's past as the Walt Disney Archives celebrated its 55th anniversary. The Archives team released a fantastical short film honoring the legacy of Walt's vision and the importance of preserving Disney history. We even spotted a familiar face — Gongos Mickey, from the Muppet*Vision 3D pre-show — as part of the anniversary display.

Major Road Projects Could Shape Disney's Future

Perhaps the biggest long-term news this week didn't come from inside the parks but just outside them. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District has officially opened bidding for two major infrastructure projects: the Western Way road expansion and a full redesign of the Buena Vista Drive interchange. These fully funded initiatives are designed to ease traffic flow into the resort's western entrance — but they could also mean something much bigger.

Could this signal a future park expansion or new resort area? Disney owns 160 acres nearby with improved access underway.  Speculation is growing about long-term plans, especially as road work begins. Sam analyzed access ramps and project maps, even comparing them to satellite images.  The results are intriguing and raise many questions. While Disney has made no announcements, these upgrades could open the door to major development.

Muppet*Vision 3D Officially Closes.

It's official: MuppetVision 3D* has closed its doors at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Sam and Greg take a final stroll through the attraction, sharing behind-the-scenes views and paying tribute to the classic.

New Courtyard Concept Art Debuts

With the attraction officially closed, new concept art has appeared on the construction walls surrounding the former Muppet Vision area. The updated visuals reflect a slight tweak in the Monsters Inc. Land.

Compared to previous art shared at D23, this version shows a tweaked courtyard layout. The coaster show building remains part of the vision, but its placement is deeper into the backlot, creating breathing room between adjacent structures.

Though Disney renamed the area Grand Avenue, it remains Muppet Courtyard in the hearts of fans. These changes mark a complete transformation of the area, setting the stage for something new while bringing to a close a legacy location.

Disneyland Concept Art Expands the Story

Over at Disneyland Resort, new concept art is adding layers to the park's 70th anniversary narrative. Updates to the entrance plaza include widened paths, revised landscaping, and what appears to be preparation for future infrastructure changes.

However, the primary concern remains the Avatar experience. New visuals indicate how it might integrate into Disneyland's footprint, fueling speculation over land use and attraction placement.

Back at Magic Kingdom, The Emporium is fully restocked, and VIPassholder character meet and greets are in full swing. The Hall of Presidents has reopened its lobby with updated historical exhibits.

Easter Sunday in the Parks

Spring was in full bloom at Walt Disney World over the Easter weekend. From floral photo ops to classic meet-and-greets, guests enjoyed festive touches across all four parks. Based on Disney and Pixar's film Finding Nemo, this exciting stage show invites you to discover the familiar tale of Nemo and friends from a whole new point of view, as well as fan-favorite songs such as "In the Big Blue World" and "Go with the Flow."

The adventure begins by catching up with the fish from Dr. P. Sherman's office in Finding Nemo who made their way across the ocean to the Marine Life Institute.

With live performers, animated backdrops, and a theater decked out with innovative lighting, sound, and special effects to create Nemo's undersea environment, this newly updated show takes you back to the extraordinary underwater world—all over again!

The Wonders of Xandar Pavilion is located in Epcot's World Discovery and features three main sections:

The Galaxarium: a sweeping planetarium-style space showcasing planets, stars, and other intergalactic wonders that connect Terra and Xandar – reinforcing the notion that we're all born of the same space dust.

In the Galaxarum, you'll meet The Xandarian supercomputer, Worldmind, whose purpose is to preserve the knowledge and history of Xandar. Most of the knowledge Worldmind has collected regarding Teran, aka Earth, comes from Peter Quill – "Terrans love music that moves your soul." Understanding Terrans is just one of the many reasons Xandarans have opened the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion at Epcot. Worldmind provides the narration that gives us context to the stunning visuals in the queue area, along with some intriguing questions like Where is Johnny going and is he being good? Why only the turkey leg, what about the rest of the creature? Milkey Way is a curious name for a galaxy; why?

The complete loop rounds a little over 30 minutes, and I hope this is your only opportunity to experience it in its entirety.

The Broker Offers Treasures of Xandar

Guests can hunt for Guardians of the Galaxy-themed fashions, accessories, home décor, collectibles, and toys at the Treasures of Xandar shop, located at the Wonders of Xandar pavilion. The Xandarians hired The Broker to operate this new merchandise location on Terra, which debuts several new product lines, including:

What if the Guardians were rock stars? Inspired by vintage concert merchandise of the The 1980s, the Heroes of Xandar Collection imagines all of the gear and memorabilia fans would collect during the Guardians' fictional intergalactic tour.

• The 1980s nostalgia continues with a bold and colorful line celebrating Peter Quill's childhood visit to EPCOT. The Guardians of the Galaxy: Through the Eyes of Quill The collection features retro silhouettes and graphic designs evoking decades past.

• After helping save the galaxy, guests of all ages are invited to show off their new hero status in style with the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – Honorary Guardians Collection. Honorary Guardians will be distinguished in their rank through the official Honorary Guardian colors of navy and gold paired with the Honorary Guardian emblem, which is proudly displayed on each item in the collection.

The next-generation MagicBand+ will retain those popular features and add new functionality to unlock experiential moments of magic throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks and resorts. After a guest enters a theme park, MagicBand+ will come alive at various times with color-changing lights, haptic vibrations, and gesture recognition, enhancing the environment's storytelling. The wearable will allow guests to engage with favorite Disney moments in new ways and discover new interactive experiences, including:

• Guests can embark on the "Disney Fab 50 Quest," a scavenger hunt throughout the four Walt Disney World theme parks using MagicBand+ to help spread pixie dust and interact with the golden character sculptures. With the Play Disney Parks app, guests can dive deeper into the experience to find hints and keep track of sculptures which will unlock digital achievements, including an augmented reality feature.

"Hey, Disney!' Adds Magic to Amazon Alexa and Echo Devices

The history of The Walt Disney Company is full of successful corporate collaborations, producing innovative experiences everywhere from World's Fairs to Tomorrowlands to the pavilions of EPCOT and beyond. Now Disney is creating its own custom voice assistant using Alexa technology for supported Amazon Echo devices. Called "Hey Disney!", this digital voice assistant will work alongside Alexa to respond to vocal prompts, bringing Disney characters and stories to life in magical new ways to make guest stays more convenient, engaging, and enjoyable.

"Hey, Disney!" will begin rolling out in select Disney Resort hotel guest rooms across Walt Disney World later this year as part of the vacation destination's 50th-anniversary celebration. Access will be offered as an optional, complementary feature during guest stays. "Hey Disney!" will make the services Alexa users know and love – weather forecasts, timers, alarms, etc. – magical with the help of more than 25 popular characters including Mickey Mouse, Olaf, Rocket, and Groot, Princess Tiana, and many more. "Hey, Disney!" also features an all-new character, the Disney Magical Companion, who will help guests discover more than a thousand magical interactions, such as hearing special greetings and jokes from authentic Disney character voices, and asking trivia questions, and exploring audio environments inspired by Disney films and destinations. Guests of Disney Resort hotels will be able to learn helpful information about their vacation ("Hey Disney! When does the next bus to EPCOT depart?"), order room amenities ("Hey Disney! Can we have some extra towels?") and more. These projections extend down Main Street, U.S.A., complementing the images of the castle while creating an entirely new immersive and expansive environment for Magic Kingdom.

Guests are invited to join dreamers like Princess Tiana from "The Princess and the Frog," Miguel from Disney and Pixar's "Coco," Rapunzel from "Tangled" and brothers Ian and Barley from Disney and Pixar's "Onward" as they set out on a journey beyond the ordinary to a magic land filled with adventure, wonder, empowerment, and enchantment.

In one spectacular sequence, Joe Gardner from Disney and Pixar's "Soul" brings guests with him into "the zone." As he plays his piano, shimmering blue and purple lighting extend beyond the castle, transporting guests into a magical realm inspired by the art of Disney Legend Mary Blair. This dream-like space is filled with characters from Disney classics such as "Beauty and the Beast" and "Alice in Wonderland" to contemporary tales including "Wreck-It Ralph" and Disney and Pixar's "Luca."

Through it all, these heroes discover they have only to look within themselves to find the power to believe and make dreams come true because the magic lived inside them all along. The journey builds to a crescendo as Tinker Bell takes flight and spreads shimmering gold pixie dust over the park, empowering everyone to believe in themselves and the magic all around them.

Post pandemic, the show returned as "A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King" a modified version mindful of the continuing pandemic conditions at the time, Adjustments took place onstage and backstage, including updates to choreography and temporarily pausing some show elements to allow for appropriate physical distancing. Most notably, the tumble monkeys.

Disney recently announced the return of the original production in the summer 2022, this recording is the post-pandemic, "socially" distanced version. The show includes classic songs like "Hakuna Matata" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" and a finale including "Circle of Life."

Every once in a while, those media events include a "special reception". For the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, 2022 festival 2022 media was treated to Garden Reception in the United Kingdom Pavilion of Epcot's World Showcase. That reception includes background music from some of the most talented entertainers I've seen in some time. While most consider them background, I consider them a huge part of the evening.
