As you may have known, Samsung launched the 60mm Macro lens in the second half of last year. This lens features a Super Sonic Actuator (SSA) to deliver a fast and quiet Auto-Focus. What a surprise! For Valentine’s Day, Samsung even held a small event to insert people’s love messages into the video on Samsung Digital Imaging’s YouTube and Facebook page. Fourteen messages were finally introduced. If you want to check out the video, please take a look at this video below.

1) Planning

First of all, planners needed to come up with an inventive idea for a film concept, so they Googled something creative and had a number of idea meetings. As a result, they determined a bokeh video shooting and camera crews started to study how to make proper shapes for it having done research.

2) Test

To actualize their concept, they bought materials such as lighting units, beads, and a reflector, and shot some test videos in a studio. Through these tests they had learned about how they can take the well-made bokeh film and about which shapes people like.

3) Drawing storyboards

Look at these interesting pictures done by hand! Aren’t they cool? In this step, they decided the detailed story and selected background music to be inserted. They also had to determine how the story would develop with the music. Along with the lyrics and timeline, they drew the storyboards as shown above and chose the bokeh shapes.

4) Creating props

They prepared lighting units, firecrackers, candles, beads, bubbles, and stick-on papers, and settled down to creating props. For the circle-shaped papers to be placed in front of each lens, they drew and printed them out with Photoshop and also cut it out elaborately in person.

5) Shooting

Models were listening to their guideline. Shooting for the bokeh video went on in the studio and outside. When it came to outdoor photographing, they would sometimes ride a car and subway. Which scene was shot helped from these transportations? Watch the video again to find the scene!

You can see pinwheel shapes on the NX200’s LCD. Excluding the colorful lights, in order to highlight these shapes more conspicuously, the background needed to darken.

6) Video edit

This is the last step. This project video was finally wrapped up by this video edit.

Even though the bokeh means some sort of blur effect, workers had to struggle to make the images clearer in order to show you the better images. Before we got the lovely video, they had to go through not that lovely way. Thanks to people’s positive responses, their efforts were rewarded, and we could make a sweeter Valentine’s Day by sharing this!

2. Samsung MV800

I’m back again with stylish street fashion photos from our stylish MV800 campaign, ‘Street Style Looks, Caught on Samsung’ once again. As I was looking through Caught on Samsung’s Tumblr and selecting stylish pictures to share it with you, I’ve noticed that all the pictures that I’ve chosen this time have styled their looks with an oh-so-fashionable, totally in-the-moment-style hat. So I’ve decided to give this post a little theme- “All that hat”!

I personally find the way she styled this look very smart. Fur on fur items can look overwhelmingly too much or overly dramatic, but she somehow managed to avoid all that heaviness and managed to keep it in style. Keeping it simple and basic might probably be the secret to her look. Also, wearing a different color fur hat but in a similar tone from her fur coat is another smart way to style things up with fur items.

She looks sweet. There is no typical girlish element in this look, but she looks lovely and sweet. So what might be her secret? I’m guessing keeping the style simple and casual yet not forgetting to add a touch of femininity might be the secret. Roll up the sleeves on a slightly over-sized denim jacket, make sure to balance the silhouette by flaunting your legs, and add a cozy-looking knit hat and scarf. If you have plans for Valentine’s Day but do not want to dress up in obvious dresses and skirts, I’d recommend you style things up like this lovely lady!

What is ‘Street Style Looks, Caught on Samsung’?

Samsung has teamed up with global publisher Condé Nast for ‘Street Style Looks, Caught on Samsung’ to put the Samsung MV800 camera at the forefront of fashion trend settings. The NX Application ‘NX System Learn & Explore’ for Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Honeycomb) has launched on Android Market. Today I’d like to guide you through the application to show you what amazing features you can experience from this helpful free application. Please note that the application for smartphones is not out yet, but is scheduled to be released very soon.

1. NX GUIDE (Bookmark, Guide Book)

The NX Guide provides Bookmark and Guide Book. When you tab through the application and find pages that you want to go back to later or find useful, bookmark the page and you’ll be able to check the page(s) anytime you want. The Guide Book not only provides camera specifications, but also provides general tips on photography, such as a shooting guide for a specific genre of pictures and for people with different levels of photography skills.

When you flip through the Gallery pages and find a picture you like or one that inspires you, just press the heart icon and it will be saved as a favorite. Virtual Combination is my favorite part of the application. This feature lets you virtually play around and combine different NX cameras and lenses. Also, if the NX camera comes in various colors, you can experience different colors as well. When you’ve combined the body and the lens that you like, you’ll not only get to see the info of the product but you can also see the photos taken with your choice of camera and lens through the gallery.

6. NX Videos (How-to, Review, Promo, Sample)

Useful videos and videos tips on NX cameras and lenses are all gathered here at NX Videos for you. Find out how to use different features of the camera from shooting preparation to i-Function, and see reviews, promotion videos, and sample videos as well. One of the other great things about the ‘NX System Learn & Explore’ application is that it has been designed to perfectly suit tablet users, allowing them to tab and swipe the features back and forth within the same page. * What is “BOKEH”?
Are you familiar with the word “Bokeh”? It means “blur” or “haze”, which comes from the Japanese world “ボケ or boke” (Wikipedia: Bokeh). When we use the term in photography, it is referring to the aesthetic quality of the blur produced from a shot with shallow depth of field. Determining factors of bokeh are things like lens aberrations and shape of lens aperture. It’s very attractive and pleasing to blur the background and the focused subject even more.

You are able to direct the lights with any shape that you want by using a bokeh lens and bokeh effects as you watch the video at the beginning of this post titled “Bokeh & Art.” The video and all the images in this post are recorded and captured by the Samsung NX system.
