Choosing the Right Car for Your Lifestyle

I am no car enthusiast nor a car owner. But I once had thoughts of getting a car for myself. But how do you choose the right car for you? Here’s a checklist as a guide..

Decide whether you want to buy from a dealership, private seller, or an auction

Once you’ve made the choice to shop for a car, the next decision you’ll face is where to buy it from car dealerships are often the safest bet, and very useful if buying a used because they are required by law to present the vehicle as factually as possible. That means that you won’t have to worry as much about surprises down the road. All new vehicles will come with a warranty and at most dealerships even used vehicles will have a warranty of some kind.

If anything covered under warranty goes wrong, you’ll be able to return to the dealership and have them take care of the issue for you. Additionally, dealerships generally offer financing options to allow you to pay for the car over time, and most will also be happy to take your old car as a trade-in to help offset the price. Private sellers, on the other hand, have a more intimate knowledge of the vehicle itself, and can explain the car’s specific driving history. Private sellers also have no ‘overhead,’ which means that they’re generally willing to sell the car for significantly less.

Auctions offer the potential for the lowest prices of all three options, but are also the biggest risk. In all likelihood, you won’t even get the opportunity to test drive an auction vehicle before you buy it.

Research the seller

Assuming that you choose to buy from a dealership or a private seller, your next step is to find out what you can about them. For dealerships, check online reviews to see how happy (or unhappy) buyers have been with the quality of the vehicles sold, and how willing they are to support their customers if something goes wrong. Private sellers don’t generally have online reviews, but that shouldn’t stop you from investigating them a little.

Likewise, speak with the seller and ask about the car’s personal history. Ask to see their identification, and compare it to the car’s title to see if the name’s match. If the seller claims to be selling the car for a friend or relative, then there’s a good chance that you’re dealing with a curbstoner.

Get to know the car

Once you’re happy with the seller/dealership , the next step is to check out the car itself. For a new vehicle this will deal mostly with your personal taste and preferences. However if you’re buying a used-car you’ll have to do a little digging to learn the condition of the car. You should probably expect a little bit of wear and tear (unless the seller has assured you that there isn’t any), and ask about any specific problems they car may have, so that you can factor that information into your offer.

Pay special attention to any dents, scrapes, dings, flaking paint, rust, hale damage, or any other cosmetic damages that you may find. Check all of the glass windows and the mirrors for cracks. Check the body panels to make sure they are properly and evenly aligned (uneven body panels could indicate a car that has been rebuilt following an accident).

Open the engine, trunk, and all doors, and check to make sure that the hinges, handles, keys and locks all work as they should. Check the car’s electrical systems, including lights.

Drive the car

The test drive may be the most important (and enjoyable) part of the car-buying process, so make sure that you do it right. Get in the car and test all of the seat belts to make sure that they function properly. Adjust your mirrors and get a feel for the driver’s range of visibility (if the car features window-tint, you may wish to test drive the vehicle at night so that you can get a feel for how easy it is to see through the windows when it’s dark, not to mention give the headlights a proper test).

If it’s a used vehicle, turn on the engine, and before shifting the car into gear, listen to sound that the car makes—if the engine noise is anything other than smooth and uniform sounding, you may be dealing with a car that is in need of repairs. Shift the car into gear, making note of any delays as the car changes gears. As you drive, pay attention to the feel of the overall vehicle. Does it pull to one direction or the other? Do the pedals lack firm pressure when you depress them? Are the gauges or dashboard lights indicating any problems? Are there any new noises being made by the car as you drive? Be aware that every car will feel different when you first drive it, but issues such as sluggishness or unresponsiveness may indicate bigger problems with the vehicle itself.

Have the car inspected by a mechanic

If you’re looking at a used vehicle and you’re still interested after driving the car, ask the dealership or private seller if they would be willing to allow you to take the car to a vehicle mechanic. If the seller declines, then they may be attempting to hide something from you, and you should be very careful about continuing the transaction.

If you get permission to take the car to a mechanic, you’ll likely have to pay for the inspection yourself, but at least you’ll be getting an impartial, professional opinion of what the car should be worth.

Take a step back

If everything looks good, then you may have found the car for you. However, take some time to catch your breath. Buying a car can be an exciting experience, and it can be easy to get swept up in the frenzy of the purchase. Of course, the seller may not wish to reserve the car for you while you make your decision, and many will claim that they have other sellers who are interested in the vehicle—but don’t let that push you into completing the sale before you’re ready. If the car is sold to another party while you’re making your decision, then that’s just the way it goes. Take a couple of days to think about the purchase, carefully weighing the pros and cons. If, after a day or so, you’re still interested, then contact the seller, because it’s time to talk price.

Close the deal

Unless you’re happy to pay the asking price, you’re going to have to rely on your negotiation skills to find an amount that both you and the seller are happy with. Allow us to offer some advice: be honest. There’s no reason why you should try to cheat the seller, and if you establish a relationship of trust, the seller will be more likely to want to give you a good deal.

A Salute’ to World Oceans Month with the “Rule of Two-Thirds Underwater Photo Exhibit for Marine Conservation”

Let’s all celebrate World Oceans Month together with WWF-Philippines, Oceana, the Department of Tourism, Canon Philippines and Solaire Resorts as they showcase the captivating underwater photos of multi-awarded photographers Anna Varona and Danny Ocampo in a breath-taking visual spectacle entitled “Rule of Two-Thirds Underwater Photo Exhibit for Marine Conservation” featuring the Marine Protected Areas (MPAs): Marine Sanctuary in Tingloy, Batangas, Apo Island in Negros Oriental, Cagayancillo and Tubbataha in Palawan and Tanon Straight in the Visayas.

Photographer, Responsible Tourism Advocate, Diver and Marine Wonder Woman, Anna Varona and her collection aims to spread awareness on the role of MPAs in the management of long term food security not only in the locality of the MPAs but for the whole country as well. She believes that this endeavor is very much aligned with the World Oceans Day 2017 theme: “Our Ocean, Our Future”. According to Anna, these MPAs ensure that our coastal resources and produce are given the chance to regenerate and provide the nation with the sustenance of the sea not for this generation, but for the coming generations to come. The MPAs can also assure that our local fishermen are given a more stable means of livelihood as well as the education of the local fisherfolk and the LGUs towards a more stable and sustainable livelihood.

On the other hand, Diver-Photographer and Marine-Life Superhero Danny Ocampo, campaigns for ethical and responsible diving and photography, and hopes to influence tourists, foreign and local alike, to be more responsible and respectful when they visit the MPAs, as a lot of these, especially that of Apo Island, continue to inspire hundreds of individuals, organizations and policy makers here and abroad. Sadly, its popularly is beginning to be its bane and measures have to be taken to ensure that tourism and conservation complement each other.

A big congratulations for the WWF Team who put together this effort, along with artist-collaborators Anna and Danny, together with the Department of Tourism, Canon Philippines who sponsored the printing of all the portraits, including the postcard versions that will be sold to help the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines in their continuous efforts to conserve the Philippine oceans and the communities that greatly depend on them.

A salute to the “Rule of Two-Thirds Underwater Photo Exhibit for Marine Conservation” as it opened to the public. WWF-Philippines’ work in protecting the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park inspired the declaration of a one million MPA by the Municipal Government of Cagayancillo though a municipal ordinance covering its entire municipal waters and surrounding open sea.

The exhibit runs until the 22^nd of June, 2017 at the Art Wing, Ground Floor of Solaire Resorts.

Squiggly, Wiggly Wigs..

I remember growing up calling my grand dad “Daddy Abo” or “Daddy Kalbo”, “Kalbo” meaning bald.. well, as I remember, he wasn’t really totally bald he still had some hair and because of me calling him as such… he had to go and get himself a wig to cover up his top up and so that I would stop teasing him… I was probably 3 or 4 and was just starting to speak and wasn’t really intentionally teasing my poor old grand dad. He was then in his late 50’s maybe, quite young to be balding, but unfortunately men in our family, my mom’s side had a receding hairline or thinning of hair. Apparently according to the women in the family, my grandmum who I call “Ms. Bubba” which I got from Ms. Aruba, one of the favorites during the 70’s Ms. Universe, and the story I will surely tell you on another day – according to them – our grand dad, in his younger days, during the pre-war time was always in a white suit and always had his hair well combed and full of pomade. I guess the gels or wax came after several generations after. And because of this, later on maybe during his 30’s or 40’s he started to lose quite a large amount of hair and therefore later on decided to solve this problem and my teasing by getting himself a “topay” or what is better known as a wig.

It did help him quite a big deal, he regained his confidence, I stopped teasing him and I suppose he got some respect, plus, a person with a full head of hair surely would look younger. I grew older and could pronounce words better, and called him Daddy Alex instead.

A wig, though simple as it may seem, has a vast number of uses and/or benefits – a simple accessory to match your mood or outfit, to enhance one’s features, to disguise one’s personality, to solve one’s insecurity, to gain respect, to hide an ailment or if one is going through treatment, from the simplest reasons to the deepest or even darkest reasons.

What’s good is that now we have a wide variety of choices to choose from different styles or cuts, like human hair ponytails; a variety of colors, lengths, and of quality. Yes it was used by some of my relatives but wigs are of course mainly used by women. It’s available in wig specialty shops in the malls, in the specialty salons and now it’s even easier to acquire – online and have them delivered right to your doorstep.

I have short hair and I’ve always wondered if I could maybe sometimes use a wig to extend my hair on some occasions when I need to have longer hair. Or maybe for those who aren’t really sure if having permanent hair color would suit them it would be great to try on a wig first before doing the actual color or before even damaging their real hair. It really is fun to explore all these fashion accessory options and the different looks that I can achieve. Wigs are fun to wear! And being a girly girl makes everything possible!

My Christmas Blessings came in many forms this holiday season, time for family togetherness and bonding, gift giving, fun shopping and doing a lot of fun activities at home as well as my workplace. I am extra thankful that I got the news that I was included in the media line-up just before Christmas to cover for a one of a kind show at the Araneta Coliseum! Truly the “LE GRAND CIRQUE” would be too hard to pass up even if we knew we still had to get some cooking done for the Christmas Eve – my Christmas Paella would be at stake…but what the heck…it’s the greatest show in town, direct from Las Vegas and I got invited! And not only that, I get to sit in the VIP section as a media guest, we were right smack in the middle. Thank you sir Ian of Araneta for the great accommodations!

We were already pretty excited for the show to start. The voice over already started the countdown…this is soooo cool! Afterall, this is live entertainment at it finest! Circuses do bring together the most amazing performers that do the most astounding acts, mostly including acrobats, contortionists, aerialists, jugglers, jumpers, hoopers and clowns. Cannot wait to see the acts that defy gravity and the ones displaying near superhuman abilities… we sit back… put out our phone cameras and wait for the grand opening…….

I tell you, as soon as the grand spectacle started, we were just spellbound! We were wowed with the gravity-defying aerialists, the wall walkers, hoop divers, who dive, jump, twist and somersault through and over stacked hoops, balancing acts and the contortionists! Add to that Mr. Mime who added delight to the show by reaching out to the locals after each and every presentation. He was such a delight! And it was really a captivating show… we were still very excited with the opening number and the next ones that followed until the giant beach balls came bouncing around segueing to the finale’! Let the spellbinding “Le Grand Cirque” captivate you like it captivated me… Straight from Las Vegas, “Le Grand Cirque” is Araneta Center’s Christmas offering this December. Touted, and if I may say really truly is THE GREATEST SHOW IN TOWN this holiday season. This spectacular circus show will definitely keep audiences on the edge of the seats, and I know that for a fact! Don’t miss out! Guilty Addict!

I am guilty! I am a shoe addict! Ever since I started working and can actually buy shoes with my own hard-earned cash I have been making these crazy purchases. Through the years I have actually learned to control myself already. Back in the day I would go inside a shoe store and buy 5 pairs of

shoes all in one time, usually like one design in two or three colors, crazy right? You could call it "Imeldific" in a sense. Mind you, I don't blame or curse her for having so many, it's a girl thang! If a simple working Filipino citizen like me had about 3 shoe racks full of my favorite footsies, what more a beautiful first lady like her, who attends more social and political gatherings. Bless you Madame Imelda!

These days, I can admit I've mellowed. Maybe I just buy two at a time usually in more standard colors like black and beige or skin tone. Yes, more serious, more thought of, more out together like the ones from Steve Madden. Great quality and craftsmanship. Beautiful, very stylish and comfy, something you can't really get from other shoe brands. These days, I can justify pampering myself with a shoe purchase fix when I feel real good or when I feel really bad that only a trip to Steve Madden can brighten up my day, and what makes it even better are the coupons from Groupon that I can collect to make my shoe fix sweeter! Playing House..

Growing up, I loved playing with dolls, pots and pans and building doll houses complete with complementing furniture. I enjoyed doing all of these with my mom back in the day. Initially we started out with just recycled boxes from the grocery store. We would build 2 floors. Dress it all up with wrapping paper especially the ones with the small prints, and for the flooring we would get the black and white checkered wrappers or stripes. The first floor with the Living Room, Dining Area, the Family Room, Kitchen and a Garden. Upstairs would be the bedrooms – about four of them, one for the mom and dad, one for me and one for my brother and the remaining one was for the guest room. Later on that guest room was converted into my baby sisters room who came 10 years after I did. She was the one who continued playing with all of these toys.

These days, in the real grown up world, I still love pots and pans because I just love to cook for my loved ones, I love dressing up and I love shopping for clothes and shoes, and of course stuff in my own little house. This time it is not play pretend anymore, it truly is the real thing. Real curtains and bed sheets which I try to sew myself, I just buy the cloth from the mall. I no longer put wall paper for my walls, I love painting them myself, it quite a creative release and it’s quite fun! But, for the floors, it is a more serious concern, it should be given more attention in terms of detail, quality, texture of course the pricing. Where to go? I say GROUPON is the answer! I started taking photos way back in high school when I got my first camera from the money I got from my ninongs and ninangs during Christmastime. I love capturing candid moments, this is one of my favorite themes in photography. You'll never know when that moment comes and so you just need to keep a watchful eye and swift reflexes when I have my camera with me.

Here are just some of the photos which I am very proud and glad to have taken that shot. A simple click, one, two and three and several more.. Genuinely capture true emotions.. Happiness..

It gives me joy to capture their happiness and lock it in eternity. It makes my heart flutter. Let's change the way we see happiness and go back to the basics -- a simple smile, basking in the sun, playing with water fountain, dancing til you drop in the streets or plainly playing around with the other kids in the neighborhood or playing in the rain.

Simple things.. Simple means, simply spell HAPPINESS!

Lazada's Online Revolution Kicks Off Tomorrow

Taking Gifting to the Next Level

This coming Christmas, my wishlist would be to be blessed with perfect health, clearness and restfulness of mind and spirit, peacefulness of the heart, solving all my financial mishaps by being able to pay off all of my late or overdue bills and to be able to the the year debt-free. Also am wishing for new projects to come for the Christmas season as well as the new year.

If asked about the more tangible material things, I would like to wish for a new laptop, maybe the Macbook Air :) a Saatchi turn table and Marshall speakers to go. New kitchen and cooking equipment like a new microwave oven, baking sheets and dishes, Lock & Lock containers, non stick pans and a flat grill that you can use on both sides, ah and a waffle griddle and a popcon maker, maybe even a chocolate fountain and a cotton candy maker.

I would love lots of shoes, wedges, pumps and sneakers, also flats to replace my old and dusty collection. a new wardrobe, maybe from H&M or Cotton On.

I would also like to wish for a full refrigerator and pantry with a wide array or yummy treats and tricks of all gastronomic possibilities that i can cook in my wonderful magical kitchen.

And, last but not least, a small family get together where we can share all these delights.

For my loved ones, i wish them the best of health, safety everywhere they go, and whoever they may be with. i wish for them wisdom to know between right from wrong,and the will power to make the right decision. I wish them happiness or better, the wisdom to choose to be happy or happier...

And now my new little 'apo' Joaquin, lots of milk and diapers to get them through till the little one is diaper free and mild free. A crib or a baby bed, so he can lay separately and properly, a baby carrier, and cute statement baby clothes, The will power to push forward and keep on working for a better future and a better life for their kid. The wisdom to do the right decisions and stand by it.

For Jazmine, I would love for her to have tons of sneakers from vans and converse, statement t-shirts, shorts, dresses which she recently discovered appealed to her. pumps and flats, yes girly shoes too. I heard she also want some new gadgets like a 5s..but she has to work on her school efforts harder to get it. She is pretty sound and grounded. She is just a bit lazy at times so i wish for her to be more industrious and resourceful.

For my sister and her family, a better home for them to live in, grocery items, new outfits for Christmas, a bank account with a little money to start of and pay debts too.

For my sweetie, new clothes, casual shoes, formal shoes, shirts and pants, camera accessories, lighting equipment and other studio equipment she can start off with, and maybe also a new laptop, pocket WiFi to always keep her online and working, getting new projects for her website development and photography services.

For my father, the best of health, good eyesight, cooking utensils, less sungit.

How do I plan to give back to others this Christmas? I plan to do this by cooking for my loved ones and close friends this Christmas season since I don't have much to offer. for the less unfortunate, i can offer my time doing story telling sessions, helping in soup kitchens.

Books, books, books and more books!

Getting bigger every year as others describe it.. Plus the whole barrage of cosplayers that we encountered at the lobby of the SMX Convention Center. Very colorful, busy, creative!

Back to the books, adult coloring books are pretty popular this year. Who even thought of creating a new adult pastime and de-stressing is getting the best ROI in life. And I thought it was just being distributed at Powerbooks. Well, apparently not. And so more options for the consumers. Along with the different adult coloring boooks are of course the different coloring pens and pencils needed to go with it.

We checked out the Schaeffer booth, Pentel, Sharpie. We even doodled at some coloring walls. Paper companies in the trade show sold some cool journals, planners and notebooks. We got an Avenger journal for Jazmine and we even got a free ecobag to go with it. We signed up at the Titus (pens) booth and we got free pens, It was pretty cool.

The publishing companies had each their own promotional gimmicks like an autograph with their book's author if you purchase a copy of that book or magazine. There were even celebrities that signed magazines with them in the cover photo.

Discounts on your favorite paperback and hardbounds, collections and series, it was actually a good time to buy a Harry Potter collection or C.S. Lewis' Lord of the Rings or the very light Geronimo Stilton collection.

All the books, for all ages! And all the topics be it academic or the arts. There was even an Alexan booth. It's a store for electronics as well as some books kids might need for their robotics class. They even had a demo doing 3D printing. So mission impossible-ish! I remembered my college days. I suppose there was no CDR-King back in the day and Alexan was my go to store whenever we needed catalogues or parts we needed to complete our projects for my Engineering course.

There was also the Archie comic book compilation and a;; other Marvel or DC comic book characters.

Truly a treasure throne for each and every bookworm, young and old alike. Happy reading everyone!

Delicious and Healthy Dishes in Food Tastings at Eastwood Mall

Nothing beats a lazy Sunday afternoon but the aroma of the gastronomic feast prepared by well-known chefs from different food outlets and themed restaurants located within the vicinity of Eastwood Mall. The smell of everything was already "umami" and the sight of it when they had them plated will make your mouth-water.. in my case.. drool.. "Grabe sarap!"

First set was the Breakfast Burger and Fitburger. They served us the healthier alternative to all the grease that we were all used to. T'was a great treat for everyone.

Next, the Mediterranean Chicken and Couscous was already been prepared. It was the first time for me to sample this dish. As I understood, its like soul food in the Mediterranean. And for those who doesn't know, "couscous" is a traditional Berber dish of Semolina granules. The same thing you use for making pasta noodles made from granules of durum wheat which is cooked by steaming. It's a staple food throughout the North African cuisines of Algera, Morocco and Libya. Basically, it is like our "sinaing". The combination of couscous and the Mediterranean chicken I could say was pretty okay. For a first timer, I guess I still have to get accustomed to its taste.

The Breakfast Sausage Tart looked and smelled delicious; sad to note there wasn't enough samples to go around to be tasted by the audience. When plated thou, it seemed it lost the whole focus on the breakfast tart but more on the garnish that went around it.

Somehow it made me sad that I didn't get to try the Poached Salmon Aioli. Salmon is one of my favorites. I love it in my salad or simply smoked, buttered, filleted as sashimi, name it. I am salmon crazy! Truly is a new twist to the usual adobong pusit with the Seafood Sotanghon with Black Ink. One time, at home, we had leftover adobong pusit, some pasta and did not have white rice. We tried experimenting and voila! Seafood pasta.. Now I've learned a new option, an oriental twist using sotanghon on glass noodles. Kudos to the chef! It was truly yummy.

Christmas is just around the corner and it's just timely they did a demo on Mango Walnut Graham Parfait. we were not able to sample this one, but at least we have a better idea on how to do it this Christmas season.

Our favorite was the Pad Thai Salad, we had seconds even, very refreshing, light and healthy without being boring. Last but not the least was the Kale with Mushroom Paella. A vegetarian treat, very healthy and at the same time, yummy. Kale apparently looked and tasted similar to kangkong or spinach. Some of the plates handled over for sampling even had crunchy mushroom toppings. Yum!

We had a great time at the Eastwood Mall that afternoon. The great aroma of the flavorful gastronomic delights prepared by the wonderful chefs truly made my day. We even won a prize from under our seat that got us a kitchen set of knives and a can opener. Thanks to Food Magazine, ABS-CBN Publishing and Eastwood Mall.

It was quite refreshing reading through the new e-book for teachers, it’s an easy read, not boring, quite informative and less formal, making it easy to be understood and taught in class. The activities are pretty easy to follow, very doable, with clear objectives, clear activity instructions and attainable end-results.

Going through the pages, I realized, that though it may be targeted towards the senior college students, it may also be a refresher for people who are already in the workforce, who may have already grown complacent in their office positions, and may be lagging behind because in some way or the other may have forgotten career objectives and goals due to the repeating daily grind. This new e-book may be a good resource that may be used by the Human Resource Department as a sort of trampoline to help some employees bounce back and be empowered.

The book has great exercises and post analysis key that can help the teacher easily get across her students. I can say that it could be a pretty effective teaching material as it is SMART (George T. Doran) means Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-Bound.

Boodle Feast With Clara Ole..

Clara Ole held their last foodfest last July 12 in Makati City. The event was hosted by Certified Foodies - Mhel and Ken Ignacio.

Fiesta is no stranger to every Filipino. We all love to eat especially when it's good food. Thanks to Clara Ole, they made it possible.

We entered the venue with two boodles prepared for the attendees. One thing I'm curious of was how will the menu taste like using Clara Ole products.

I am no food expert or critic. I am one person who just love to eat! And the best way to eat a boodle is with your bare hands. Never forget to wash your hand before digging in.

Before we began feasting on what was prepared, Ken of Certified Foodies explained what he and their 'nanay' cooked for that day. There's barbeque, shrimp, crabs, lumpia, chicken, itlog na maalat and sinigang sa bayabas. I have never thought that certain Clara Ole products could be an alternative for a dish. For example, spaghetti sauce with crabs and garlic.

Pinoy games were played after that hearty feast..

Trip to Jerusalem where Mhel and Ken's nanay won. Go to market where after all my hiding, I was still picked to play (hahahahaha!!!) and there's Pinoy Henyo wherein Clara Ole's brand influencer, Ms. Amy Perez participated.

It was a fun gathering.

Now there's one question I was asked during an ambush interview. How would you organize a Clara Ole Potluck Foodfest?

Reviewing the past foodfest, there was the dating concept and movie night. If I would match it with where my heart is closest to, that would be up the mountains; close to nature.

Why?

First, I'm a mountaineer. I love the great outdoors. And we have cooked a few dish like adobo. I kinda curious on what dish would a Clara Ole product fit in such.

Coca-Cola, Habitat Philippines Give Cleaner, Safer Water Systems to Two Bohol Towns

(Manila, Philipines) — The towns of Tubigon and Maribojoc in Bohol province now have clean and safe drinking water due to a joint effort of the Coca-Cola Company and Habitat for Humanity Philippines. The two towns have newly rehabilitated water supply systems, a project which began in February 2014.

In Tubigon, a redeveloped 105,000-liter water storage tank will be able to provide clean water to 500 families in the barangays of Panaytayon, Ilijan Norte and Ilijan Sur. Meanwhile, 2,000 families across nine barangays in the town of Maribojoc will benefit from a new multi-filtration water system that outputs 1.2 million liters of clean water per day.

Representing the provincial government of Bohol, Atty. Anthony Damalerio expressed his gratitude to Coca-Cola Philippines and Habitat for “this good example of public-private partnership. This is one way to honor our strong commitment to deliver that basic commodity to our barangays.”

Damalerio said that the province’s demand for clean water will be increasing this year since Bohol will be embarking on massive infrastructure projects. Due to this, he explained, providing barangays access to clean and safe drinking water is a topmost priority. “We must not forget the role of our barangays.”

Coca-Cola Philippines Foundation President, Cecile Alcantara, said that the two projects are the company’s way of giving back to the community the water they’ve consumed for their products. “We call this ‘replenish,’ and we are happy to say that we have given back 40 to 50 percent of the water we’ve consumed back to the communities,” she said.

Alcantara also requested local government officials to educate their constituents to take care of the resource entrusted to them. She emphasized that “[since] water is not an infinite resource, we have to conserve it.”

Habitat for Humanity Philippines Managing Director and CEO, Charlie Ayco, says they took on this project as part of the organization’s goals of ensuring that Filipino families can have more decent and secure lives. “We are known for shelter, but in our housing-quality standards, clean water and sanitation are a vital components of a decent home.”

Both the Coca-Cola Company and Habitat for Humanity Philippines see themselves as partners for development, eyeing more projects together with the local government of Bohol to help rebuild the lives of those who have been affected by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake last October 2013.

“Perhaps the blessing is that the earthquake brought us all together, to work together so that we can [also] rise up together,” Coca-Cola’s Alcantara said.

Viewers and fans will be treated to two days of fun-filled anime-themed activities at Animax Carnival Philippines 2015, to be held at Hall 4 SMX Convention Center, Pasay City on 30 and 31 May 2015, 11am to 8pm.

Anime lovers can look forward to a bigger event this year with more exciting activities such as special performances by renowned cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao, the Animax Cosplay Competition,exciting activities and sale of exclusive anime merchandise, and special guest performances from Japan. Admission to the carnival comes at the affordable price of Php200.00 each.

The Cosplay Royalty

The Queen of Philippine Cosplay, Alodia Gosiengfiao will be performing onstage bringing some of her best costumes and pegs. Her passion for anime, video games and other creative media has led her to contribute to the rise of Cosplaying activities in Philippines so better watch out for her.

Animax Cosplay Competition

Animax Carnival Philippines 2015 will see the return of the acclaimed Animax Cosplay Competition for cosplay lovers! Cosplayers can once again showcase their costume-making talents and emulation of their favorite anime characters with a range of realistic costumes and gravity-defying anime hairstyles to thrill visitors. This year, the competition will feature two categories, a solo category on 30 May, and a group (no more than 5) category on 31 May, both happening at 2pm to 5pm.
Participants of both categories will stand a chance to win cash and exciting prizes and goodie bags, with attractive prizes worth over Php10, 000!

Exciting activities and anime merchandise

Fans will get to be submerged into the world of anime and the Japanese culture through this year’s carnival.

Attendees will be able to play traditional Japanese games and preview all of the anime posters and character artworks that have been featured on Animax. They can experience iconic Japan by learning how to write their names in Japanese and folding Origami for display. There will also be purchasable Japanese fashion pieces and Japanese food from a variety of designer booths and food stalls. Furthermore, fans will also be able to immerse themselves in products and gaming activities sponsored by Sony.

Event goers will also get to have a chance to win various merchandise and premiums from Animax such as drawstring bags, sticky notes, folders, fans and much more.

Special guests and appearances

Animax Carnival Philippines 2015 will also be celebrating Japanese culture with the performances of special guests.

We have performers from Japan namely “Triqstar” , who is known for mixing traditional Japanese Kabuki elements with new-age dance and Tambourine Master “Gonzo” will also be featured in the event. A Jpop dance routine will also be staged by the group, Junior New System.

Petron Bags Anvil Gold Legacy Award

Only two years after bagging the Anvil Hall of Fame Award, industry leader Petron Corporation marked another milestone as it bagged the Gold Legacy Award from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) for its Vision Petron Art Collaterals. Petron, one of only three awardees, was recognized at the 50th Anvil Awards for its consistent wins over the years. The Anvil is the symbol of excellence in public relations in the Philippines.

Petron has won nine Excellence and one Merit Award for its Vision Petron Collaterals, a set of printed materials that accompany every Vision Petron National Student Art Competition. In 2001, its first set of collaterals depicting indigenous Filipino games, earned the very first Bronze Award of Excellence from Anvil. It won during the same year the Bronze Anvil from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

Apart from the Anvil Gold Legacy Award, the market leader also earned Silver Awards for the Vision Petron 2014 Program and the Vision Petron 2014 Folio. The 2014 Vision Petron competition, themed “Lakbay Panata—My Journey, My Pledge,” produced a record 2,827 entries submitted in the various competition categories. Now celebrating its 15th year, Vision Petron is a multi-awarded annual art competition for students enrolled in colleges and universities all over the country.

Formerly Art Petron, the program evolved into Vision Petron in 2011 to accommodate more art media, such as t-shirt art designand video-making, in addition to painting and photography.

Meanwhile, Petron’s trademark Lakbay Alalay motorist assistance program also earned a Gold Anvil Award in the Specialized Public Relations Program: Advocacy Campaign category, and a Silver Anvil Award in the Public Relations Program Directed at Specific Stakeholders: External Consumers category. Lakbay Alalay is the country’s longest running motorist assistance, and is entering its 30th year of public service.
